"Very good," Sam practically purred. "I expect to see it on my bed tomorrow. She took his champagne glass too on the way out. "I'll let my clients know you have promising results to be delivered.
Someone else caught her eye, and she moved over to them, clearly intent on another business transaction. Some people worked to party, other people partied to work.

Robert thought real long and hard about the idea of having more kids. Ramona was his entire life, and it was hard. He'd given up a lot for her, but Deus had always been there to compensate and provide a spot, however small, for the girl in his life. The idea of having more worried him, if only because he couldn't be sure he'd be able to give them the same kind of chances Ramona had. He didn't even know if those were chances he wanted to give to a child, at all. Ramona had been a mistake. But she was the best mistake of his life. If he'd been able to go back in time, would he have chosen to make the same mistake again? He couldn't find it within himself to answer. She gave him the perfect excuse to brush the troublesome thoughts aside. She said yes! Or something close to it. He wanted to celebrate with Ramona, but when he looked back one last time at his daughter, he realized she was still fawning all over Allan, and had none of her attention. She'd missed it. So he'd just have to memorize every moment to tell her all about it later. He turned back to Mimsy, took her hand in his, and began committing every moment to memory. "Deal. You and me are officially a date. No take backs." But what, exactly, did that even mean? "So.." He hesitated as he fumbled around for an answer. "Drinks. Drinks! We need drinks for the New Year. I'll go get you a-" Oh no he wouldn't. Because the kids were still there. Robert wasn't going anywhere. ".. Mimsy, if this is the worst date ever, can you do me a favor? Promise me you'll give me another chance sometime." He was sure he could do better, when he wasn't watching over a handful of children.

It was subtle but Roland almost seemed to fall behind Jordan as they walked in, he wasn't truly behind the other hunter but he was trying to shrink and hide behind him none the less. He had been a runaway, not a raised hunter, his parents took him in but they hadn't raised him from birth. It was two halves to a longer life at this moment. One that ultimately would be spent here.
"Yeah... lot of people floating around." Peeking around a bit Roland finally made some form of movement on his own, tugging Jordan's hand gently towards a table filled with treats, the cheese chief among them. "Here's some. And they have the little sausage slices to go with it!"

Allan saluted Noah and Corbin off with a wink and a smile and then spent a small amount of time looking around the room possibly for someone. He didn't seem to be too successful though and instead helped himself to some more food on his already half-full plate.
"My daddy doesn't let me eat even as half as much as you!" declared the red-haired freckled kid, who now had grown a light attachment to the Sun lead as bribery went a very long way in children. "He said if you eat too much you will explode and aliens will dissect your body."
At this point just as Allan sat back down, Ramona was clambering all over him, and he shifted her to one shoulder. She was allowed exactly one plate of green jello. "Up here you can be a ninja guard and see what everyone is up to," Allan whispered to her.
"No fair! I want to see too!" The freckled kid jumped up and down until Allan finally picked him up too, one kid on each shoulder. Said kid sized Ramona up and down and then sat a little taller, trying to be an even more important ninja.

"Funny how you can live here for years and know just about everybody, but it still seems like a massive crowd when everyone's gathered." Jordan slowed a little, keeping himself at Ro's side rather than in front of him. "But it's still all the weirdos we know already. Even if tonight they're fancier weirdos." He let himself be steered towards the table, and picked up a plate, piling food onto it. Thanks to Ferros, the teenaged black hole appetite had never quite gone away, and probably wouldn't. "Here's the cheese," Jordan said, "and if we listen to the general conversation I'm sure we can find some whine to go with it." He grinned.

"Because so many of us end up in different places doing different things. People are always in and out of deployment." Though he had tried to hide, Jordan was doing good to keep them even shoulder to shoulder as they walked. "I wouldn't want to say we're weirdos... we're all pretty weird so it's normal at this point right?"
Roland had only take a few bites from a single platter before staring at Jordan in agony. With out a word he reached over plucking food from Jordan's plate. And again, and again, and oh sure one more time.
"Just. No. No. Stop it." He shook his head and took another bite of cheese. "You're a terrible person Jordan."

"I'm not sure I'd go that far." Jordan laughed.
His grin just widened at the horrified look, and he made no move to stop the theft of his cheese. When Ro was done collecting the bad pun tax, Jordan simply replaced the missing items from the platters on the table. "I've never denied that," he agreed.

"Jordan, we're partnered hunters, we have voices in our head and pull magical weapons from mid air." He held up his hand rattling the silver bracelet that represented Sylvia.
Even as Jordan picked more food Roland moved to pluck it away, he was going to be that guy. The one who picked off his not-dates plate all night before getting his own food. "Well... at least you admit it." Grabbing his own plate he made sure to get some food before winding his way over to a table to sit with Jordan. For a while he just munched on crackers and sausage. Stealing cheese from Jordan when required of course.
"So... why did you mention the ball to me, back during that mission?"

"I would contend that that makes us pretty unusual," Jordan argued amiably. The ring on his right index finger lit briefly from within, Ferros adding his own silent comment.
He followed Ro to the table, setting his plate down in order to snag two champagne flutes from a passing waiter before he sat down. Ro pilfered cheese off his plate, and he returned the favor by swiping a few crackers. He angled an eyebrow at the question. "Why do you think?"

Roland was in the middle of making a nice little sandwich between the gathered ingredients he was just about to put a cracker on top when he snapped it in half jumping a bit at Jordan's question. He asked the question, why was Jordan asking one as an answer!?
At once Roland pouted because this put him in the spotlight again, "I-I don't know...I thought it was because you where asking me...." He let the statement hang and blushed horribly as a result.

"I wanted to know if you were planning to attend." Jordan offered Ro a cracker to replace the one he'd broken accidentally, smiling lightly. "You're good company."

Ro's face turned an even brighter shade as Jordan explained what his obvious motive was in the first place, the thing Roland completely over looked.
"I... I thought you where asking... because...." He was flustered now, he wasn't running but it was clear he was embarrassed at his mistake. "Imakehorriblecompany..." he muttered quickly.

Roland let out a squeak of frustration, more a groan, why was he going to make him say it!?
"Becauseyouwantedtotakemeonadate!"
He buried his face on the table red as a fire truck at this point.

"There might have been an ulterior motive," Jordan said thoughtfully. "It was very convenient that you agreed immediately." He sipped his champagne, a faint smirk curling the corners of his lips.
