He nodded slowly and remarked.
"Well in most situations, statistically speaking Rutger Howler is the more powerful choice, of course, if you were attempting..." Toralei hissed and he trailed off.
"Um... Con.. gratulations on advancing to mashionals?" He attempted, edging away from the orange werecat.

"I believe only patient monsters stick around long enough to be considered friends." His own friends had to be so patient and understanding, so he understood where Kai was coming from.
"it sounds as though you have found the perfect ghoul for you." He smiled a little and found somewhere to sit and shuffle his own cards.

"Sorry." He apologized again. "Is there any chance we can change the meeting date of Spellbound club, Glen? I don't want to have to quit either club."

"You can't quit Spellbound!" Glen piped up toward Billy, turning around with the white chocolate moancha Clawdeen just passed to his 'grabby hand'. "You're one of our best players! But ... I don't want you to have to quit Drama Club, either."

"Better Drama than Spellbound." Toralei sneered, filing her claws. She then glanced up and saw Glen looking at her and she shrugged. "What?"

Glen rolled his eyes but with the perpetual smile on his face and turned back to Billy.

"We'll hafta ask the Bean manager if we can because he pretty much worked wonders to get us the Study Nook on Wednesdays. But maybe... Thursday? Only Club I know of that meets then is Photography and I don't think any of our peeps are in that club."

"We were also talking about Saturdays." Toralei looked up from a chart she had made of upcoming Spellbound meets. "We could use the maul's food court. We need the hextra practice with Mashionals coming up, but th question is if everybluddy would be willing to give up their Saturdays."

"But we can discuss that between all of us. Find out what works best for everybluddy! Plus," Glad added. "There's the surprises!"

"Surprises?" Kai sat up straight, his interest perked. "What surprises?"

"Oh we can't say until everybluddy is here!" Glen nodded eagerly. "But it has to do with this year's Mashionals, and the other ... well, why spoil the surprise?"

"I'm... busy Saturday." Ronan pointed out, frowning a little at the mention of surprises. Everyone seemed to be working on surprise projects of late, what was that all about?

Much like Kai, he couldn't help but be curious.

"Busy?" Toralei purred, looking up from her chart. She didn't sound much like she believed him.

Ronan nodded. "Yes I... have a date."

He looked more anxious than excited, bordering on terrified.
Everyone paused to stare at him.

"Why... are you all staring at me like that?"

Willow had hoped she wasn't late when she came through the door. Her timid demeanor had almost gotten the best of her; she nearly stayed home. She'd only caught a bit of the conversation as she walked towards the group, though still a fair distance lay between her and the others.

"HI WILLOW!"

Glen hurried over and gave her hand a vigorous shake even though the timid ghoul had not offered it.

"Grab a drink and join the fun"

Glen hurried back over to where the group was gathered and jetted a thumb toward the newcomer.

"Now that's a dedicated Spellbounder! Its not even a LARP day but she still dressed the part!"

"Hey new ghoul!" Kai waved and pushed his chair over so there'd be enough space for her to sit down. "Welcome to the club!"

All right, new members! Kai wondered if Toralei was going to make her duel anyone to prove their worth. Glen would let any monster who wandered by into the club, but Toralei was a strict vice president. Kai still keenly remembered how he'd had to duel both Meowlody AND Purrsephone to gain entry. The match had lasted three and a half hours until the ghouls had forfeited and secured him his spot in the club. It still held the record for longest match...with fewest turns taking place.

"Alright!" Glen clapped his hands together in unbridled hexcitement. "The surprises!"

He walked back around the table to where Toralei was seating and his VP stood up and leaned back against the table to be a part of this presentation to the club members.

"First off," Glen said. "We have a big surprise considering our next Spellbound LARP! Three other Spellbound clubs, the ones we're actually on good terms with..."

Toralei jumped in bemusedly, "That's not saying much, considering our tournament track records against them."

"Right! Ha!" Glen smiled at her before turning back to address the members. "Anyway, Toralei and I just finished meeting with their club dignitaries and we decided we were going to join up for one great big grand spooktacular LARP adventure!"

"Really?!" Heath exclaimed, his head immediately igniting as it was prone to do when he grew excited about -- anything. "That's clawesome!"

There were murmurs of hexcitement around the tables and Toralei took center stage.

"One member from each club is going to take part in the planning of the adventure. They'll meet at the maul, neutral territory, to get everything set up as far as the storyline goes."

"Then our member will relay everything to us and we go from there! I'm even going to try and get Draconia to return with her seer role because we'll probably need her."

"Cooool!" Chase exclaimed, still stealing glances at Kai's card case. "Who's going to be the one from our club to help with the planning?"

"Undecided." Toralei answered. "But whoever they are, we're going to make sure they know what they're doing considering how big this will be."

Seems she was getting surprises everywhere, she hadn't normally gotten such a greeting. Wait...They must have not realized she normally wore stuff like this. Oh well, it'd be fine, right?

Willow took her seat, listening to Glen and Toralei address the group. Good thing it was unlikely that they'd choose new members to do that, otherwise it'd be a mess if she had to..

"What about Mashionals?" Invisi-Billy asked. "What's the surprise there?"

Glen looked around and frowned. "Who said that?"

"Oh, sorry." Billy shimmered back into view. He smiled sheepishly. "Sometimes it just happens."

"Save that for the tournament." Toralei smirked. "It'll really work in our favor."

"Anyhoo, Mashionals!" Glen smiled, almost bubbling over with hexcitement. "This is where things get reallllly good!"

Glen looked to Toralei and nodded eagerly. She turned and continued, "This year, the Spellbound Mashionals Committee has decided the championship will be a Doubles Tournament."

"Doubles?" Kai's eyes lit up. "We're going to be competing in pairs?"

"Mm hm." Toralei stood up from where she was leaning and pointed at Kai. "So try not to cause your partner to forfeit to?" She then turned back to address the club. "We're going to pair everybluddy up tonight by luck of the draw. No requests. No guaranteed teams."

"Sorry ghouls." Heath said smugly to Meowlody and Purrsephone, both who rolled their eyes and visibly pouted.

"Almost everybluddy." Glen said, almost pouting himself but he looked quite reserved.

"Whatddya mean?" Chase asked, arching a brow.

"We have one too many members to the club for an even number of teams, so..." Glen sighed and shrugged. "As Club El Presidente and since I won the Mashionals the past two years, I decided to sit this one out."

"Sweet!" Kai replied to the news. "Are we drawing now?"

Kai was eager to see who he'd be paired with. He sincerely hoped it was someone with a lot of patience.

"doubles... ?" oh dear, working with others wasn't something Ronan was very good at. He didn't have the patience for others, nor did he much care for relying on another's (in his mind) questionable ability.
He looked uncertain.

"Doubles..." she muttered more-so to herself than anyone else. Hopefully she wouldn't mess up something during the match, thus hindering her partner...That'd be terrible.

"Sweet!" Kai replied to the news. "Are we drawing now?"

"That we are!" Glen smiled, giving his bluddy a thumbs up. "We want to get everybluddy paired up so we can devote as much time as possible for you to get used to each other and..."

"Not to screw one another's game up." Toralei interrupted. "This year we have to work together more than ever -- literally -- if we want to win the first Doubles Mashional."

"So...!" Glen pulled out his bag and reached in and pulled out a gi-normous erasable bulletin board. He gave his wand a wave and it floated up into the air and remained fixed there. Toralei then pulled a covered box from Glen's bag and they turned to the club members.

"Here we go!" Glen cheerily called. He reached in and one by one, he and Toralei took turns drawing names and with a twirl of the wand, those names were etched onto the bulletin board...

Howleen Wolf and Toralei Stripe
Invisi Billy and Meowlody
Heath Burns and Purrsephone
Chase Q and Kai Merha
Ronan Aalto and Willow Whisper

"What about Cassandra?" Toralei looked around. "Is she even going to show up?"

"Gee, I thought she would." Glen shrugged. "She seemed very hexcited about the club."

"Well if she does, that means you're back in." Toralei smiled at Glen. "That'll make an even number of teams."

"Sweet!" Glen spun around to the club. "Okay all! Pair up! You'll start playing your partner first before we set up doubles matches."

"Gnarly!" Kai nodded at the drawing. He had sort of hoped to be teamed with Ronan or Toralei. They both knew the functions of the cards forwards and backwards and were good at communicating just what to play and when. Chase was all right, though. He was a lapsed player who'd gave it a shot and then lost interest. He picked it back up and joined the club mainly because his boofriend Glen was such a raving fanatic.

Kai picked up his card deck and satchel and sat over by Chase.

"Hey, Brutha!" He held out his fist for a bump. "Looks like we're in it to win it, am I right?"

Ronan stood and joined Willow. Extending a hand as he approached.

"It would seem we are forced to work together. I'm Ronan."

He studied the new ghoul, she was an unknown variable, he had no clue if she was any good or would prove more frustrating than the endlessly indecisive Kai.

He sat down opposite the ghoul and shuffled his cards.

"So, what sort of deck do you play?"
