Ever since I was eight or nine
I've been standing on the shoreline
Always waiting
For something lasting
Lose your hunger, you lose your way
Get confused and you fade away
This town kills you when you are young
I'm not the boy I used to be

Eleazar Draven Bradley
- Unknown Blood - Ravenclaw - Third Year -
[feeling: calm] [thinking: ...] [with: no one] [at: The Leaky Cauldron]

Eleazar felt weird walking around without Thea or any of his siblings by his side. Thea generally stuck to him like glue during the summers, but she'd been out playing with some of the kids from the town all day. She could be clingy with him, but then run off and disappear by herself for hours at a time. Thea was erratic like that, and everyone had quickly learned that they had better adjust to her, because Thea Bradley adjusted her ways for no one. She was fiercely independent for an eight year old, at times. She had a little habit of occasionally picking fights, mostly because she had no filter on her mouth and could be downright rude and aggressive at times, and she flipped whenever Eleazar tried to intervene on her behalf, so he eventually stopped. She liked fighting her own battles. Maybe it was a little sad that his little sister was the more protective one of the two of them, at least more noticeably. He always watched out for her, but Thea liked to stare down anyone who so much as looked at her big brother funny. In general, it was not easy to make friends or even hold conversations with Thea around, and he figured he might run into a classmate in Diagon Alley today... Maybe. If he didn't he wouldn't be crushed. He was just starting to realize that as much as he disliked the notion of making friends simply so he could say he had friends, normal teenagers had friends. Friends who they hung out with. Eleazar... hadn't hung out with someone not related to him in a long time. But first, he was hungry. He hadn't eaten much today, mostly because his parents were not always around to necessarily make him something to eat, he was lazy, and fixing something for himself meant getting a small crowd of siblings in the kitchen, all suddenly realizing they were hungry. Way too much trouble. He had decided he'd get lunch, eat quickly, and then go into some of the shops. He might as well pick up some of the things he'd need for the extra classes he'd be taking in September, right? And maybe he should get Thea something, too, because she'd probably be upset he'd went to Diagon Alley without her. He fingered his pocket money as he navigated his way through the pub, which was packed with people, most of whom were adults and much bigger than him. Eleazar was not quite small and scrawny, but he wasn't very tall and he was pretty thin, and he luckily didn't have much trouble squeezing by people. He ordered his food and took a seat at an empty table, scooting his chair in uncomfortably. Hopefully the wait wouldn't be too long...

Another afternoon stroll through Diagon Alley was almost too much for her; she had done everything she could think of! She pretended to be the daughter of multiple witches and wizards to get free stuff, set off several dung bombs in the crowded streets and replaced several “missing keys” with shrinking keys instead! She stepped on the robes of wizards just to get them dirty, maybe even see them trip if she's lucky. But even the hysterics were starting to bore her, the thrill of it seemed to last less and less. She needed something more. Anything! Honestly, if she has to sit in her own head any longer she might just possibly scream. ”Tha's it, I need food.” Sophie threw her hands up in the air, redirected her course for the Leaky Cauldron and shuffled inside. She kept her head low, it was better not to look anyone in the eyes. Her short stature made her seem younger than she really was, but it wasn't like being twelve had much to boast about either.

Still, if she looked like she belonged, than the wizarding folk won't question her. That's the last thing she'd want, to have to answer to some pretentious witch or some sniveling, sneering wizard. Magic or no, she wasn't going to be pushed around by just any old hag. Sophie pushed her way to the bar counter, inched herself up by her toes to seem just a bit more believable as she ordered the fish and chips.
”No vinegar, either.” She reminded the man for the second time, he seemed about to protest the whereabouts of her parents but she slapped a few coins on the counter and turned away before he could. She didn't realize how insufferably tiny she was, she never did, until she was in a crowd. It wasn't that busy in here, but the company of patrons were all just so old in comparison to her, practically ancient! ”But he's not,” Sophie mused to herself as she spotted a lonely older boy. It struck her that, just maybe, he might be more than a few years older than her. But that was better than a hundred, wasn't it?

”Ello?” She waved and strolled up to Elezear, plopped down in the wooden chair across from him, it creaked loudly beneath her. ”You look bored, mate. So am I.” She gave a sheepish shrug and half chuckle. ”I'm Sophie. Mind if I sit with you?”

Roald was bored. He had decided to stop on into the Leaky Cauldron for a drink. Nodding toward his sister as she got him a refill, he couldn't exactly blame her since she didn't stop to talk. After all, she did run a pretty busy place. His blue eyes scanned the crowd at the bar, taking in the patrons. Most seemed like the regular clientèle, wizards and witches just settling down for a meal at the establishment. He watched his sister move through the place easily enough, and wondered at why she was here, of all places. After all, he was sure that his sister would grow bored with a place like this and move on to something else. It wasn't like she was wanting for money, after all. Not for someone of such high standings in their homeland.

He watched his sister manoeuvre to another table, bringing over plates of food and cocked an eyebrow to listen. The table seemed to be filled with (and he shuddered at the sight) children. Two, in fact. One he couldn't see the face of, while the other seemed to possess gold eyes. Interesting. Pureblood would be his guess, but he wasn't sure. He hardly deigned to associate himself with filth since that was all it seemed to be coming into Diagon Alley any more.
"Fish and chips for you, my dear, without the vinegar of course, and here is your plate of fish and chips. I hope you enjoy them." He watched his sister wait for a moment, her eyebrow raised as she observed the two children for a moment before she approached his table again.

Her expression seemed thoughtful for a moment, as if she was mulling over something before she directed her attention toward him.
"Hva har du gjort i fritiden, bror? Jeg kunne sverge jeg så en gutt som så ut som en dobbel da vi var barn." Curiosity really piqued, he looked over toward her. She gave a nod toward the boy. "Øynene hans er akkurat som din pleide å være, og jeg kunne sverge på at han har den samme munn som Frida. Jeg kan ikke være for sikker, men han ser ut som om han kunne ha bare gikk inn i våre hjem som han tilhørte det."

Now Roald took a good long look at the boy as he listened. He couldn't be positive, not without some proof, but there were similarities there. Vaguely he wondered at why she would bring it up, unless she believed that he slept around. Which, he had a few dalliances, but nothing permanent. Not with anyone worthwhile. He looked back toward Frey quietly. "Jeg ville ikke bekymre deg med meg kjære søster. Tross alt, har du en bar for å kjøre. Jeg tviler på at han er min, men." Frey gave him a glare and left, causing Roald to ignore her as she walked off. However, he couldn't help but wonder who the kid was.

Eleazar looked up curiously as the sound of an unfamiliar voice- if anyone was to be waving at him, he would have assumed it be someone he already knew... but he didn't know this girl. Never seen her before, as a matter of fact. She looked about old enough for Hogwarts... maybe she was an incoming first year? He wasn't altogether bothered by her sudden presence; with Jess for a sister, you learned a lot about tolerance. Either that or you had the Ministry come knocking because you hexed her. He honestly feared the day when her and Toby turned seventeen and realized they could jinx one another without repercussions other than a furious mother and mildly amused father.

"Hello," he said in a bemused voice back to her, peering out from behind longish hair he was growing out as much as he could until his mother noticed and made him cut it. "I look bored?" he repeated, and then nodded slowly. "Yeah, I guess I do, and no, I don't mind. I'm Eleazar." Before he could say much more, the pretty blonde woman he assumed ran this place stopped at their table with their respective meals, which turned out to be the same thing, except for one ingredient. "You don't like vinegar," he observed, and then glanced back up at the woman because he could have sworn she was looking at them, or more so him, for a second longer. He dismissed it as paranoia, because by the time he glanced back up she was already heading away.

Eleazar looked back at Sophie, who, he realized now, had distinctive gold eyes. That would have been peculiar if she was a muggle, but as he was assuming she wasn't a muggle, it was just a bit surprising. You didn't see many people with that eye color. "So why are you here?" he asked finally, in between rapid bites of food. He ate fast and he knew it, mostly because he'd spent about seven formative years of his life in a situation where if his mother-then had given him something to eat, he ate it then and he ate it fast, because what if she got mad and decided to take it away before he was done? She usually hadn't done that, but it'd been a worry for a while. Obviously not anymore, but old habits died hard. He swallowed hard and looked at the younger girl for a response, and it occurred to him he should probably offer up his own reasons. "I wanted to get out of the house." he said flatly, which was entirely true and sounded less lame than "school books" and "hoping I might be forced into socializing with someone I know".

”Eleazar, huh?” She giggled, she couldn't help it. The name didn't sound like it should belong to such a meager looking child, tall but skinny and long shaggy hair. It had the ring of a blood purist, or, maybe it was to be taken as something “unique” and “foreign?” But who the hell was she to try and come to any decision. ”Tha's an interesting one alright. But I think I'll call you Zar, sounds wicked, doesn't it?” She smirked and cocked a brow, but shrugged it off just as simply when a woman had approached them. Sophie immediately fell silent and dipped her head, only to peer up at the woman behind a curtain of dark ravenous hair. It wasn't that she didn't trust her, it was that she didn't trust anyone! Particularly adults, and more particularly those that just might know her father.... That could mean anyone.

She ruffled her nose and thanked the woman as she left, of course, now much more annoyed than before her appearance. The old woman hardly even seemed to notice her, aside from the specific requests she'd obnoxiously reminded them of. No, instead, she seemed much more focused on the boy across from her. Who the hell was he anyway? Why would he be anymore special than her? She bristled her lip and squirmed in her seat from the jealousy of it all. With crinkled brows, she tried to ignore it.
”Ew, no, not at all.” She tore into the golden battered white meat with her fingers, unabashed and improper, but she paused just to watch him go. He was like the starving runt in a litter of crups—maybe it was just a boy thing? ”Hungry. And da's running shop so I thought I'd sneak out for a bit before he notices I'm gone..” She shrugged, said it a bit more loudly than she should have. But hell, even that didn't matter, the old wrinkled (maybe not so wrinkled, but definitely older) man couldn't seem to tear his gaze away from Zar at certain moments. It made her wonder just how much this boy wasn't telling her. Or was she just being the paranoid one now?

With someone as barmy as her da' it shouldn't be much a wonder she's so batty.
”I actually probably shouldn't stay too long, at least not here, da' knows I like to come here. The folks don't usually ask questions. Well, 'suppose I did, but I don' think I really count... Do I?” There wasn't much of a question as to why the patrons turned a blind eye so often, they were usually all in a drunken stupor. ”Do you live around here, maybe?” She asked rather hopefully; it seemed not many children lived nearby, or at least, not ones she could tolerate for longer than a few minutes. But Zar didn't seem so bad (at least not yet.) It wasn't like he disappeared to Hogwarts and forgot to write for months! She nibbled for a long moment, taking extra time to chew. She should've written Morven back, at least eventually. But she was jealous, and it was hard to even find the words to write. So she just never did. Maybe soon though... Maybe she should.

Eleazar grimaced at her giggle but supposed he should be used to that sort of reaction by now. It wasn't exactly a typical name, Eleazar, and he still had no clue where it had been pulled out from. It must have been some grandparents' name or something, maybe some great uncle even. He didn't exactly have a good idea of what his extended biological family had been like, never mind their names. If she thought his first name was 'interesting', what would she think of hid middle name? He hadn't heard the nickname she decided on before, though. Thea referred to him as Lea, or Leazer, his other siblings simply called him Eleazar or El. "Yeah, wicked alrigh'," he muttered under his breath.

He looked at the girl curiously as she seemed to hide when the woman brought the food over, but brushed it off as childhood shyness. He wasn't a social butterfly himself, and being noticed by adults wasn't necessarily a good thing. "Your da runs a shop?" he asked curiously. "What sort of shop?" If he'd been in it, he'd never noticed her lurking around, but maybe she didn't like to hang around much. Probably not, judging by her explanation of sneaking out for a bit.

"He'll follow you? Wha- you disappear on him a lot?" This might have been said more sternly than he meant it- maybe he just naturally went harsh at the thought of family leaving each other. You're bitter, he could have laughed at himself. Like some ex husband whose wife left 'im. His thoughts still sounded to him like a betrayed, wary eight year old with a walk-out mother. Jeebus. Dark thoughts for lunch with a maybe-friend. He swallowed a few last bites of food and shrugged. "I live in Evesham. So like, two hours away, by muggle travel. But I come here a lot on the summer... You're lonely, aren't you." he said frankly, not even questioningly. Whoops, there went the normality in the conversation. You didn't just remark that people were lonely. Still, he wasn't going to apologize for saying something true. That would be stupid.

He still, paranoid as ever, felt like someone was watching him. And this packed pub was semi-claustrophobic. He finished off his chips quickly, wondering if he'd really gone and made her mad. He didn't know how short this girl's fuse was. At least he was used to dealing with tempers. Still, he didn't fancy being snapped at if he had struck a nerve there, and she had said she shouldn't stay too long, after all. But he felt guilty, anyways- maybe because she was a pretty girl, maybe because she was a girl to begin with and you weren't supposed to be rude to girls, maybe because she reminded him of his sisters a bit. He stood up, looking at her awkwardly, and fished around in his pocket for a scrap of paper and a pencil stub. He scrawled something on it and drew a lopsided circle around it. "There's my address. I wouldn't mind writing to someone. Or you could prob'ly even just show up- my parents are out working a lot, an' my siblings don't care comes around; they like company."

He put his money for his meal by the empty plate- that was what you were supposed to do, right?- and backed away too fast, nearly tripped, righted himself on the back of a chair, and dodged his way out on nimble legs, pretending he was little again and roaming the streets of London, doing his best to blend in to the crowd and above all, keep his head down.

Receptionist/Secretary for the Ministry of Magic
Former Ravenclaw
Pureblood
Eighteen Years of Age

Kris sat comfortably at the brightest table in the room, lightheartedly leafing through an Austen novel and occasionally sipping her butterbeer which was becoming more and more lukewarm. It was really nice to get off of the Greene property, even if she lived in a separate building, her mother was in Russia, and her nitwit little brother had finally gone off to school. Kris found some kind of solace in distancing herself from anything relating to her name. For all she cared she was just Kris, ambitious young secretary for the ministry, and not at all an extension of the esteemed Greenes. Her mind wandered to her younger sisters; how sweet little Railynn who wouldn't insult the foulest of creatures might one day wrinkle her nose at a half-blood, and how lively Lysa could become as proud as her father. The thought made Kris cringe a bit, she never wanted to see the day. Maybe it was too late for Timmin, but the girls meant everything to Kris. Their parents had a habit of corrupting the naive, and it had been a miracle that she herself had wiggled out of their backhanded approach to parenting.

The panther blinked the thoughts away with a few Jane Austen lines to replace them. There was no sense in lingering over such darkness on such a beautiful day off. Perhaps later she'd venture out to the alley for a visit to Obscurrus, or maybe even take a stroll down the muggle streets of London. Either way, she was perfectly content to be temporarily free from the grasps of work, family, and responsibility. The poetic scripture in her hands stole her mind away, the mug of liquid on the table becoming cold as Kris fell deeper and deeper in love with a fictional hero.

Wyatt walked into the Leaky Cauldron happy for spring to finally come rolling in so the harsh cold of the winter could ease the joint pain in his knee. It was only during the winter when the pain became truly unbearable and he was subject to become a gigantic grinch, as his little brother liked to loudly complain. He always more than made up for his admittedly poor behavior during the spring and summer months. But that was neither here or there. He took a seat by one of the windows and was handed a menu before ordering a cup of tea deciding to actually act British for once. He took a sip of it and gagged before waving the waitress back over and asking for a butterbeer instead. The American would never know how these people drank tea that disgusting! With a shake of his head he began to look over the lunch menu and try to decided whether or not he wanted the cold cut sandwich or whatever the soup of the day was.

Milo walked into the Leaky, looking around. His dark brown eyes settled on an empty chair, which he quickly flopped in. He moved his guitar, awkwardly placing it beside him. He ordered chai tea and a water, then debated the menu. He had a pen tucked behind his ear, some sheet music on the table beside him. When he got his tea, he looked around, then attempted to attract attention of the male sitting near him. He was kinda cute, actually, but Milo needed to focus on the task at hand. Yes. Sugar. Right. "Erm... excuse me, do you have any sugar in reach I can use? My tea's always too bitter.... or perhaps I just love sugar far too much." That was... awkward. Hopefully the male could reach some, since Milo'd just walked all the way to the alley from his apartment, and his feet hurt. The male blinked his eyes, quirking a crooked smile.

Leave my door open just a crack

Why do I tire of counting sheep?
When I'm far too tired to fall asleep

Lately I been, I been losing sleep
Dreaming about the things that we could be
But baby, I been, I been prayin' hard
Said no more counting dollars
We'll be counting stars
Yeah, we'll be counting stars

Wyatt turned away from his menu to see another man asking for sugar making him frown confusedly. Didn't they place sugar packets on every table? He took a glance and did see that there was a distinct lack of sugar at the guy's table so that was just another thing he chalked up to the UK being weird. Looking over his own table he saw that he had a small dish filled with sugar and passed it over to unnamed and admittedly attractive male. In the back of his mind he could hear Kalin scolding him that when he does a good thing he's supposed to offer a smile to show that he really wasn't a gigantic pile of sourness while simultaneously hearing James yelling at him that this could be a sign to finally get laid before he duct taped the phantom's mouth shut and threw him way way in the back. But he supposed his little brother had a point and was about to offer the young man a small grin when some of the sugar spilled from the bowl and landed on his thumb just as he sat it down on the table. He gave a soft sigh and brought it to his mouth to lick it off before realizing he was still facing the man and felt the tips of his ears burn from embarrassment before quickly turning back around to his own table. As he pulled back up the menu to hide his shame he tried not to growl as he heard Jame's obnoxious laughter echoing inside his head.

Milo watched the other male lick a bit of sugar from his fingers, making the younger blink. "Thanks. Uh... My name's Milo, by the way. Milo Wakefield." He was confused as to why he fully introduced himself. He blushed a bit, before absentmindedly spooning sugar into his glass. Hopefully something would come of this conversation, as it would be quite awkward if the male didn't reply. Milo blinked a few times, his chocolatey eyes betraying his excited, confused, and nervous emotions. He bit his bottom lip, giving a smile.

Wyatt was still high embarrassed from his earlier actions and gave a start when the other man decided to randomly introduce himself. Not knowing it he copied him and gave a slow blink as he thought about what to do next. Obviously he would have to introduce himself so he didn't appear rude but that would mean he would have to turn back around and face him. Guh, what happened to a peaceful lunch without his leech and booger? With a silent sigh he turned in his chair and gave the man, Milo, a small lopsided smile. "Mine's Wyatt Abrams. I, mhm, I hope you have enough sugar for your tea." he commented not knowing exactly what to say.

Milo blushed a bit more, grinning. "Pleased to meet you. And yes, I believe I have enough. I can never tell how bitter teas are until I drink them." He brushed his hair out of his eyes a bit, looking nervous. It had been a couple years since he'd tried to flirt. The male debated what to say, eyes darting around the room to see if he could find something to help him out. "How's the soup here? I haven't eaten here since I graduated." God he sounded like a bloody twit. 'He's just trying to eat, and you're acting a fool. He's not gonna be into you, so just go back to your music, you bum.' He could have slapped himself, but he refrained, as that would probably make him look like even bigger of an idiot.

Wyatt felt his smile widen at the sight of Milo's blush and answer. When silence descended upon them once again he thought he would turn back around to his own table when the young man asked him a question making him pause. How was the soup? Somewhere in the back of his mind where his adolescent self reigned freely he was sure he could turn that into some form of either a dirty joke or bad pick up line but neither was very appealing. He knew how to flirt, despite what James might think, but since his string of failed relationships (which apparently his brother had been taking tallies on the little buttwipe) he just didn't have the energy. What was the point really? You get to know someone, or at least you think you do, and you go out a few times and begin to seriously have feelings for this other person and then all of a sudden bam! It's over and you're left with a doggy bag of hurt and resentment that you don't want to take home. It was an endless vicious cycle and he asked himself in the span of five seconds that it took to answer that question was this strange new man worth it? Wyatt took a quick peek into what appeared to be fathomless brown eyes and gave a mental damning sigh when his answer came back neutral-positive. "I honestly don't know. The few times I've eaten here I usually get the sandwich or the fish and fries. Oh, um chips. Sorry." he apologized sheepishly before chuckling awkwardly.

Milo chortled quietly after Wyatt spoke, correcting himself. "Fries? Isn't that the statesy way of saying it?" He grinned, proud he at least knew relatively where the accent was from. It had been driving him mad, after all. he looked at the option for soup, then shrugged, placing his order. "I suppose now we'll know. If it's good, that's great. If it's positively terrible, I know what not to order next time." He nodded, proud of his logic. His eyes twinkled in the lights, still quite curious about this other male. Something elusive was swirling in the air, but Milo didn't have a clue what it was.
