Tahlia's humming came to a stop when Adrian spoke, and she turned to face him. Lifting her chin stubbornly when he crossed his arms, she reacted defensively. "Of course not. If this were a sanctioned 'crusade' as you put it, would I really have needed to hire a pirate for passage?" She crossed her own arms in turn, raising her eyebrows.

"Not even anyone in the church? Wouldn't they beleive that the Goddess called you, or whatever?" He said locking eyes with her, "I only ask because naval ships just made this that much more dangerous. Another encounter like that, and you might not be making it to Homeni. And I may not be making it to the next day."

Tahlia shook her head. "I was not to tell anyone." When he locked eyes with her, she began to realize the full measure of just what danger she'd put them all in. Clenching her hands into fists at the frustration she felt towards herself for being so short-sighted, she nodded. "I apologize. I should have warned you fully of the dangers. Feel free to drop us off at the next port you were heading to anyhow, and keep our payment."
Spinning on her heel, Tahlia turned and strode below deck. Her confidence lasted her all the way until the cargo hold, where she found the smallest, most hidden place she could, curled up there, and began to cry, silently. How was she supposed to do this without putting way too many lives at risk? Why did it even have to be her that did this? Whatever composure that had held her together since escaping from her room those handful of nights ago had shriveled up.

Adrian rolled his eyes and followed after her. He could hear her crying, but that didn't matter to him at this point. "Did I ever say that I wasn't going to take you to Homeni? No, I just mean that Adelaide better make sure that she sees ships before they see us. I promised to get you there, and I am going to." He said looking at her, "So stop crying. Arianne Kyoko would cry at this.....Tahlia, I think would see this as a challenge."

Tahlia stiffened when she heard his voice, shrinking into herself and immediately wishing she'd hidden better. "You didn't, but I can't let you." She shook her head, resting it on her knees. "This is dangerous enough without putting an entire ship of people at risk. People with families, people who have lives to live." She chuckled humorlessly at his comment about seeing it as a challenge. "There are only so many times I can take having a challenge thrown in my face, you know." Using the back of her hand to wipe her eyes, Tahlia sighed, and muttered to herself. "I should've remembered what dad said, never try to hide from a captain on his own ship." Of course, he'd said that during their playful games of hide and seek.

"No man knows a ship, better than the captain." he said with a nod, "And Tahlia, remember who the helmsman takes orders from. Remember who commands this ship." he said walking over to her and holding a hand out for her. "So, if you don't want to get to Homeni, on board the ship, you can feel free to swim. But as the ship is heading there, staying on board would likely be more comfortable."

Tahlia chuckled. "'A captain and his ship are as intimate as lovers', as my father used to say when he thought I couldn't hear." Sighing, she shook her head. "You're risking a lot. A lot more than is worth what I paid you, or the notoriety." She hesitated, then placed her hand in his and stood up. "I'm sorry. I haven't stormed off to cry like that since I was about twelve. It wasn't very well done of me." She swallowed. "You're gonna laugh, but I'm a terrible swimmer. I swim well enough to keep my head above water, but that's about it."

"Daughter of a privateer, and you can't swim? That just won't do. After we leave Homeni, I'm stopping off somewhere and I'm gonna teach you how to swim." He smirked, "Maybe even see if I convince you and Adelaide to go skinny dipping." He said before turning on his heel to head back up to the deck.

Tahlia shook her head a little bit. "You're already doing so much, you don't need to-" Her sentence skidded to a stop when he mentioned skinnydipping, and she flushed. "Skinnydipping?"
"Oh come on Tahlia, don't be a prude!"
"Eh, now you know I'm not one of them,"
Tahlia hesitated by the large, ornate bath. It was large enough to fit twenty people, and yet it was the personal bath of the royal family? "You just know how much trouble we'll get in ifn we're caught."
"Liaaaaa! C'mon, you promised you'd do something daring with me."
"I do darin' things all the time, Ela, just not..."
"Not swimming in the royal bath in the middle of the night?"
"'xactly. 'Sides, I don't even have anything to wear."
"Liaaaa."

Flushing, Tahlia put her hands on her hips. "Fine, but if we're gonna do this, we're gonna do it right. No sense in ruinin' any o' my clothes." With deft fingers, Tahlia unlaced her dress, and pulled off her shift, throwing both in a heap a good distance from the bath. Her drawers followed, before she kicked her shoes over towards the pile. Standing there in all her plain, oddly shaped 15-year old glory, Tahlia glanced over at Adelaide. "Need help undressin'? I know princess' clothes are mite bit more fancy'n mine." When Adelaide, flushed and nervous for some reason, nodded, Tahlia strode over to her and unlaced her dress. "There ya go. Should I wait fer you or-" "G-Go ahead and get in."
Tahlia slipped into the water, suprised to find it was warm, even as late as this. "How-" Adelaide, her clothes shed quickly and instants after her body submerdged in the water, obsecuring the view of her 13 year old self, mumbled, "It- the fires are kept heated in a room just below this one, in case anyone of us ever wishes a bath, so we don't have to wait."
"Oh." Giggling, Tahlia leaned back, enjoying the water.

They'd spent the rest of the night giggling and splashing about the water, though it must've been too hot for Ela, because her face had been flushed the whole time. It had been liberating to have been completely naked, swimming about and playing with her friend, but she couldn't picture doing it now, with Adrian there. "I-I don't think I could comfortably do that again." She mumbled, surprisingly loudly.

Adrian stopped dead in his tracks, eyes wide. He turned on his heel once again to face Tahlia. "Again? Oh there must be a story there. And I would love to hear it. I though Preistesses were pure, untouched.....and honestly a bit prudish. So i suppose its from your younger days?" He said one hand on a hip the other gently brushing the bronze hilt of his dagger.

Tahlia, who'd begun to follow him, came to an abrupt stop when he swung around, surprised. "Hm?" She blinked. "Oh. Well, yes. I was 15, and I wasn't selected to be a priestess until I was 16." Her gaze flickered down, noticing his hand brushing his blade. "You don't need luck, you know. Just don't go spreadin' the story around. And especially don't let Ela know I told you." Tahlia paused, trying to decide where to start. "Well, I was daring, but Ela didn't get a chance to be because she was always watched over by her parents. So she made me promise to do something daring with her, and she picked swimming in the royal bath at night. I had limited clothing options and the heavily perfumed and spiced water would ruin my clothes, so I went in without them, and Ela followed suit. But we were young, and it was just us girls." Tahlia frowned. "It was fun, but I never suggested it again, because she was so flushed the whole time, I worried the water was too hot for her." Tahlia shrugged a bit, though the tips of her ears were flushed at admitting to doing that- while she'd been daring less than a decade ago, she was supposed to be pure now. "It really isn't all that exciting a story."

Adelaide had leaned over to look on deck, and didn't spot Adrian or Tahlia. She hadn't thought much of it until she asked some one. "Hey, you! Where'd the Captain go with the other girl?"
"Oy, I saw the capn go below deck wit; that tahlia gal. I he's showing her how to hancle the out cutlass if ya know what I mean." He looked up at the girl.
"No......why'd he give her a sword?"
"You daft git! He's bedding the lass below deck! So's her friend don't find out!"
Adelaide's eyes widened and she frowned. There was no way that would happen. Tahlia didn't do things like that, and she knew that. Looking back out to the sea, she frowned. "Yeah, right."

Adrian listened, focused and smirking at the end. "Thats sweet. Two young girls skinny dipping in the royal bath at night." And her words only further fueled his already deep suspicions about Adelaide. "And whats the difference now? You're just older, and more developed." He said a smug grin on his face. "Oh, and for telling me that story...." He then grabbed Tahlia and pulled her into a hug, "Just another little story that makes up the puzzle that is you. I'm enjoying every little story that I learn."

Tahlia frowned when he smirked, crossing her arms defensively as she waited for the snarky comment that she figured would follow the smirk. When he only said it was sweet, she blinked. "Well, sort of. I thought so." At his question about the different, she nodded. "Yeah, and a priestess. I'm pretty sure skinny dipping with anyone isn't exactly allowed. As you said, priestesses are pure." His smug grin raised her suspecions, but she didn't move away- and then she was in his arms. "Wha-" She blinked in shock at him. "Why?" The question burst forth. No one had expressed interest in her past before- her mother had ignored it, Adelaide hadn't cared, and the priestess had tried to erase it. "Why does it matter who I am, or what puzzle makes me up?" She didn't think to hug back or move away, even as the warmth of his arms crept through the fabric of her clothes- technically, his borrowed clothing.

Adelaide had been watching the sea until a breeze hit. She was already cold, but that topped it off. She climbed down quickly, rubbing her arms and went below deck to warm up. Then she heard Adrian's and Tahlia's voices and -thanks to that pirate- grew a little insecure, running to find them. She did and then she saw the hug, and she started to get angry. No, she couldn't get jealous. She wasn't allowed to. This just wasn't.. She felt her mouth open and couldn't stop the words from coming out. "How about you take your hands off my priestess and keep them to yourself? Hm?" She then lowered her hands and her face scrunched up a bit, before turning around. "Nevermind. Forget I was even here." And thus began her walking back out into the cold. Goddess, I know I don't normally pray, but here it goes. Please help me not kill Adrian before we get to Homenai. I know Tah- Arianne wasn't supposed to tell anyone about the trip, but I'm not going to let her go alone.. Actually, help me refrain from doing anything that could cause me or Arianne harm. Thank you..
