"Yes, of course," Dr. Villa replied, understanding in his voice, "I shall be there momentarily. Your office, or mine?"

"Either one will be fine." Gray replied. "Whichever would be easiest for you. I can have the files and recording ready for either room."

"My office, then," Dr. Villa replied, "I will see you there shortly. Until then."
With that, he hung up.

"Thanks, doc'. I'll handle thangs from inside. Jus' do what y'all gotta do. May need 'un tomorrow if dat's okay." Arell said, being polite. C.J. just laid there in the bunk. Still. Emotionless. It was almost as if he shut himself completely off to the world. He replayed it in his mind. Everything. From that fateful night Arell and C.J. blew a tire in front of the house that Halloween night. The movie date, Christmas . . . reconnecting at Wayne Manor (even HE didn't recognize her in costume!) and what would later become the three years he would NEVER forget.
. . . and here he was, answering it for him. Was failure his only option? By using his job to make a home for his new family, he lost it. When he killed Savage before he could eat the kids, it landed his a** in a mental ward.
He reached up for the envelope that was first. It had a lot of sparkly stickers that it barely had room for a postage stamp! It definitely looked like Amanda had a blast decorating the envelope. Instead of his name, "Daddy" was inscribed on the front in big magic marker. Yep. This was the kids. He opened the envelope and pulled out the photos of his kids, smiling a little bit through the tears. At least it seemed he could rely on the kids.

Inside the envelopes were photographs that the kids had wanted their mother to put into it. Along with.... what had to be dozens of drawings that Misty had somehow managed to fold and fit into the envelope like a Tetris champ. There was also two sets of stickers inside... one of kitties (Amanda's favorite), and one of dinosaurs (Jack's favorite).
The photographs were newer, and were from a few rest stops and places that the little family had been to. One was outside a dinosaur museum along the highway. Nothing fantastic, but it was clearly designed for kids. Amanda and Jack were standing in front of the dinosaur-shaped sign that was giant compared to the height of the three-year-olds. Amanda smiling, and jack just beaming as he stood holding up a dinosaur shirt.
Another photograph was centered around Jack. Him sitting on a horse with Misty sitting behind him. She was smiling, and focused on keeping her son balanced on the brown horse. Jack was wearing a cowboy hat that was seven times bigger than his head was. It dipped over his head, and the only visible part of his face was a wide, happy little smile as he faced the camera.
One photograph was focused on Amanda. They had arrived at Disney World at this point, and she was all dolled up in a Bell princess dress. She'd always liked bell because she had brown hair and blue eyes like her. And there were talking cups. Amanda was showing off her dress in front of the Magic Kingdom. There was another photograph... the same location and time. Whoever had the camera though had zoomed in for a closer shot. Amanda was standing on her tip toes, trying to put her princess crown on Misty's head as she bent down. Jack was taking a piggy back ride, and had exchanged his grown up cowboy hat for one more his size.
The next one had all three in the photo. Jack had walked up to the person holding the camera, and was proudly holding up a baseball cap with "Turkey Leg" printed on it. Behind him Amanda was leaning over her mother, pulling meat off of... what had to be a "turkey leg". It was huge, and was more than enough to feed both of the kids. Misty as holding the large leg of meat, pulling bits off for herself. She had just put a chunk of meat in her mouth right as she noticed the camera. An unflattering image... but it was probably in there because Jack was so clearly wanting to show off the baseball cap.
The last photo was one that Misty must have put in there for CJ. The two children were sound asleep in bed. Amanda hugging a Dumbo plushie, and Jack with the baseball cap sitting sideways on his head. There was a little heart sticker down in the corner of the picture that was too neatly placed for it to have been Amanda's doing.
======================================
Doctor Gray sighed deeply and hung up her phone. She moved straight to her desk and began going through a few files. She printed off some files on Gossamer, pulled up a few more on Joker, then took her notes and her recording device back out the door with her.
After locking up, she walked down the long hall, going through her phone to check which room was Doctor Villa's. Finding the number, she began the long walk in search of the man's office.
When she finally came to it, she stopped outside the door and pocketed her phone. She then knocked on the door three times, and waited to see if he was there or not.

C.J. smiled a bit as Arell came over, C.J. sitting up so the big Cajun could sit down.
"Dey sho' came a long way, big guy. Hell, I remember when she gave birth!" Arell recalled as C.J. chuckled a little, wiping away the tears.
"Those kids are my life, Arell. Soon as I get out, I gotta find 'em." he said, chuckling at Jack's "turkey leg" hat. That was Arell's affectionate nickname for the lad, a warm smile across C.J.'s face, despite having been crying his eyes out.
"I know ya well, che'. I know ya will." Arell replied. Glad to see his niece and nephew were okay.

Misty rounded the corner, then stopped when she was completely out of sight from the others. There, she leaned against the wall, and cupped her face in her hands. Breathing deeply... trying to keep herself calm.
She... she couldn't take this. It would have been easier if CJ would have just cussed her out. But... but that... damn it not again. Not again. She just screwed up another relationship. First John, then... then... how did this always happen? She does one thing thinking it'll help, and then people don't forgive her for it. She hadn't seen CJ wave to her... or say that she shouldn't be sorry. With everything she'd gone through with relationships before... she was blaming herself now. As hurt as he was... as openly hurt as he was... she had it set in her mind that he wasn't going to forgive her. She'd just... he'd be there for the kids, she knew he would. But for her? She'd screwed herself over. She voiced her fears on the matter in her letter to CJ but... now she knew.
=================
Meanwhile, the guards were standing outside Blackstone's cell. They had their orders to move her again, but hadn't been told the... sensitivities of the matter. They pulled her out of her cell, and prepared to move her down the hall.
================
"Vandal Savage?" the Goddess said gently from her cell. She paused for a moment while the men's attention shifted to her, then spoke again. "Did I just hear that correctly? You had attacked Vandal Savage?"

Dundee hugged Misty, having not seen it either, but he hated to see Misty so upset. The guys either, but Arell had kinda switched up, kind of being the "big brother" to the Maryland boy. However, it wasn't to sure what their future held. "He'll come around. I know it." he said, trying to reassure her.
Meanwhile, C.J. looked up at the Goddess' question. "Yup. He tried to attack my kids . . . " he said with a half-smile. He had stopped crying, but had been kinda neutral at that point. "I didn't wanna do it though. It was in New York . . . I was on my way home from a show, taking a break from that manhunt when I ran into him by accident. After I realized who it was, we got into a fistfight." he said, putting the pictures aside, moving up closer, almost re-enacting the fight.
"So I threw a left, he dodged it, the two of us circling. He went for a strike, I dodged, jumping up and riding his back like a hoss. Figured I could choke him down until the cops came. Little trick I learned when Arell and I rode bulls in a rodeo." he said, remembering how he tried to bulldog the big Caveman into submission.
"However, I was too sloppy in my grip and he got my arm and tossed me into a hardware store across the street. Threw me so hard I crashed into a window, through four shelves and crashed into a metal table. Damn near broke my back in the process!" he said, Arell listening into C.J.'s storytelling.
"That's when I had it in my mind. 'This is it, boy.' I said to myself. 'Two of us walked into that fight, and only ONE of us is walking out with his a** intact!' I looked around to find a weapon. Something I could use since I couldn't whip him with strength alone. The dude fought BATMAN for cryin' out loud! However, there was a chainsaw exhibition they were cleaning up from. So I took one when they weren't looking. Fortunately it was still gassed up. I walked away and pulled the ripcord, turning it on." he said, limping like he did out of that hardware store, acting like he had the saw in his hands, and making the chainsaw sound with his mouth.
"I walked out and the crowd just had their eyes on Savage and I. I stood there for a minute, revvin' that saw, a snarl on my face and sheer-a** MURDER in my eyes. Of course, Savage was gloatin' about it. Taunting me in the way, said he was gonna kill Misty an' eat the kids, and that Fisky was backing him to do it. Flat-out SAID it in front of all them people! So I said me some stuff right back." He said, standing back and smiling wickedly. "I looked him in the eye and bellowed 'VANDAL SAVAGE, PREPARE T' DIE!!' as loud as I could. Man, when I let that chainsaw rip, all their eyes were on ME that night." he said, with all the fervor of a backwoods preacher. He grunted, revving that "saw" there in his hands.
"Savage tried to get me with that li'l pig-sticker of his, but I blocked it, sendin' it flying with the chainsaw as I rushed him, that saw goin' when WHAM!" he said, still going. "I caught 'im when I went under a punch, split his a** right. up. the. middle." he said. "Then I hacked off the head. I heard of bad guys comin' back from the dead, so I was gonna solve THAT right there . . . an' lemme tell ya. Savage may have been immortal when he was alive, but when I got through with him, his own MOTHER wouldn't have been able to recognize him . . . granted the b*****d HAD a mother." he said as Arell smiled, clapping at the end of C.J.'s one-man recap of Savage's grisly death.
"Man, when I hoid dat, I knew fo' DAMN sure he did it, an' I also knew if Fisk wasn't scared before, he'd be hidin' behind those superminions a' his. NOBODY gon' ******** wit' dis guy." he said, giving C.J. a playful noogie, both oblivious to just WHAT was coming up the row!

Misty sighed deeply, then wrapped her arms around Dundee. Tightly. When she felt calm enough, she spoke up. "Thank you, Dun... for... *sigh* ... for not hating me too. I didn't mean for any of this to happen. I just... I just wanted to protect..."
=======
Goddess stared at the other men for a long moment. "So... you're saying that you chopped him up. Vandal Savage. You cut him into pieces?" she asked. Her tone suggesting that she didn't quite believe them. "You realize how many tussles he's been in, right? How any limbs he's nearly had amputated by a blade... how many dances with death he has had and won. How many bullets to the head he's taken and lived." she said, then stood and moved to the glass door of her cell.
"I just want to be clear... that you killed him. That you did the job. Because if not... he will heal. And there will be hell to pay." she said quietly.

C.J. raised an eyebrow. "I held his head after I cut it off . . . got blood on my good shirt, too. His dancin' days should be done after that, right?" he asked. Normally, that's usually not something people walk away from.
Arell nodded. "It was on de six o'clock news, che'. It made Leathaface look like Disney." Arell contributed. It was clear that they were very, VERY sure that Savage was a dead man . . . he had to be! That wasn't just something a person could just walk away from, right?
. . . right?!
Meanwhile, Dundee held and consoled Misty. "He doesn't hate you, Misty. He's just hurt." he said, trying to handle the situation. "I know you did the right thing . . . and, while he's still mad, he knows you did too. Just hard to be the one left behind." Dundee said.

 Dr. Gray didn't have long to wait; Dr. Villa's apartment was a ten-minute drive from the Asylum. "Dr. Gray," he called as he approached her from down the hall, "I got here as soon as I could. Here, come in," he added, unlocking and opening the door. The office was something that could only be described as 'controlled chaos', with various files sitting out in different places, but with an immediate appearance of there being some kind of reasoning behind it. Curiously, the ones referring to patients were actually sealed with wax over their little rope ties, like a man from the Renaissance would have done. In fact, there seemed to be a theme of the Renaissance era in his decor, including a sketch that had bore Leonardo da Vinci's signature, although whether or not it was an original was not immediately obvious. The only thing out of place in his decorative selection was a single picture, hung just to the side of the door. It showed a hand, its sleeved arm cut off by the picture's edge, with an Ace of Spades palmed. Why it was there, in complete contrast to the rest of the room, was a complete mystery. "Sit down, get a little comfortable," he said as he walked to a cabinet, opening a door on it to reveal a few decanters of liquor and six glasses. "Talk over a drink, perhaps? I've been personally fond of the Tuaca recently, although the rum and whiskey are both good choices, too."

"That is.... highly anti-climactic." the Goddess said, her expression deadpan.
"After all these years he has met his end to a weapon that was neither elegant nor technologically advanced... to an unemployed circus worker who is fostering his newest offspring." she said, then sighed and began pacing around in her cell. "Ironic? Yes. Karma? Yes. A fitting end to his long life?" she continued, then paused and looked up at her ceiling. Her expression thoughtful now. "About as much as the great Attila the Hun choking to death on his food. Which... granted was probably Vandal setting another Hun up so that he could assume another identity. But still." she said, then glanced back at CJ and Arell.
"I suppose it is fitting. Shame though... I would have liked to have found out how long it would have taken for me to drain his life away. Oh well." She sighed slightly, then moved back over to the glass of her cell. She stared at CJ, her expression serious. "You are lucky." she said. "You... and from the sounds of it your woman are stuck here. And if this place is the 'revolving door' that it is claimed to be... Vandal would have no trouble at all sneaking in here, then sneaking back out long before your corpses are found."
========================
Misty sighed deeply, trying to get herself together again. "I... I know. I just...with everything else I've experienced in the past... I can't help but think that he won't forgive me for leaving."
========================
Doctor Gray lingered in the doorway for a long moment, her eyes flickering over the man's interesting taste in decor. It was.... impressive. Far more interesting than her little office. She didn't think she even had any decorations around. Nothing as interesting as what this man had.
She looked back at the glasses in the Doctors hands, and hesitated. But... she groaned gently and moved to have a seat as he offered. "Normally I wouldn't even think of drinking while at work but.... whiskey please." she replied, setting the files on her lap and sitting down. "I feel as though I could use a glass. Thank you."
Her eyes flickered back over at the pictures hanging about. She couldn't help but continue to look about his room. She had a fondness for antiques and rustic objects. This room was fascinating. Especially the patient files sitting to the side that were sealed and bound. And her gaze continued to flicker back to the picture sitting next to the door.
The ace of spades... the card of death. Or at least... that's what one of her past patients had claimed. The card was the woman's signature, and she used it to sever her victims arteries, or lay it on their ashes after she burned them alive. Spontaneous Combustion for some... charred corpses with the card laying next to them when she was in a hurry. The card though... was always found close by. Charred or bloodied.

C.J. smirked, listening to the Goddess speak about what happened. "I just said I killed 'im. I didn't say I was gonna play it out." he said. However, his face lost that smirk when she mentioned "his woman". "She ain't 'my' anything. She left me because he was after the kids." he said, quick to correct that. He didn't seem very upset at all. He wasn't defending MISTY at all. It was clear in his voice that he was still upset with her, but it was for the kids. "And given the chance, I'd gladly kill that sonuvabitch until he decides to stay DOWN!" he said, hitting the bar of his cell to seemingly drive his point home.
Arell on the other hand, watched . . . he didn't say a whole lot. "Or, y'know, I can change forms an' just eat 'im . . . err, on second thought, dat guy's thousands a' yeahs ol' . . . . boy's prob'ly past 'xpiration." Arell joked. To tell the truth, he was wondering if the guards would be nice enough to slip him a snack or two. He WAS pretty hungry!
Meanwhile, Dundee nodded. "I know he will. He just needs to get himself into sorts." he said, doing his best to reassure Misty that everything would be okay.

Dr. Villa nodded, saying, "Of course," and grabbed the decanter filled with a light brown liquid, as opposed to another with a darker liquid, and the last, which contained an orangish-brown liquid. He poured a half-glass measure of the whiskey, and then put in back in favor of the decanter with the orangish liquor, the Tuaca, which he used to fill a second glass.
After returning the second decanter to its place, he opened a hidden flap in the counter, and grabbed a set of tongs, using it to get some ice cubes out from within. The doctor put the cubes into the drinks, returned the tongs into its place, closed the flap, and then picked up the drinks and walked to the chairs on the guest side of his desk. He sat down next to Dr. Gray, and offered her the glass of whiskey. "A sip, and then, to business."

The Goddess arched her brow at the man. ”Oh... my mistake then.” she apologized.
”I assumed that she came to help get you out of here, gave you letters from the children when she could have easily not even brought it up, sounded so genuinely distraught in the recording, and is the mother of the children you seem to love so much... you'd have some association with her.” she said. Her voice taking a bit of a hard edge to it. Then she sighed a bit and moved to sit down on the edge of the bed.
“You keep saying 'your kids'...” she said, her voice loosing the hard edge. “But they're not. They are Vandal's offspring, and that woman. And from what I gather you never had the chance to marry her.” she said, then looked back over at the man. ”There is nothing physical, or legally binding you to those children you love so much... except for their mother allowing you to act as a father to them. Now... from what I gather... she is still more than willing to let you do that.” Then she paused and moment and sighed.
“I have been around very long time, and have seen things that I'm sure neither of you have or ever will. I understand that you are still very upset with her, and you have some reason to be. And I'm sure that you will get over it while you're here. But... do not say things that you will regret later concerning the woman. I've seen too many men hold onto pride, then fate takes away any chance at allowing them to make amends.” she continued.
“She still cares about you, and she's letting you be a father to her children. You're hurt that she left, but don't let that be a reason for you to no longer associate yourself with her. She was trying to protect her children. And if it was Vandal Savage that was gunning for her... she was SMART to try and leave. With all of the resources he's collected throughout the years, he would be more than capable of hiring people who assassinate for a living. High profile individuals who are surrounded by guards and security. Sneaking into a train yard and taking out a woman and her child would be nothing.” she said, then crossed her arms and leaned against the wall.
“She had reason to run... especially when her own children are involved. Most mothers tend to put the safety of their children above the safety of a lover. You are upset... but try to think of it this way. Would you have rather she stayed there? For the few minutes that would have been more than enough time for highly trained men to get to a position to kill them and keep moving through the area?” she asked.
She probably shouldn't pry or anything. But... if these men were going to be her neighbors for who knows how long... she certainly didn't want to see the man keep flopping back and forth about how he viewed his former lover. He's upset with her, it's her fault, oh I suppose I understand you now, don't be sorry about anything, she's nothing to me....
She'd seen jilted lovers act this way before... surprisingly over similar situations. Some got over their hurt within a few weeks. Others... well they held onto their pride until it was too late. Either from the woman becoming fed up with the man's attitude... deciding if he wasn't going to forgive her then she'd just act how he had it set in his mind that she was. Leaving him behind on purpose, never to be seen from again. Others... one of them dies. Leaving absolutely no chance for redemption or making amends.
This woman left to protect her children... not to run off with another lover.
=====================================
Misty sniffled again, then finally pulled away from Dundee. Calming down. "I hope so..." she said quietly. She sniffled again, then moved to straighten herself out again.
"Oh. Shoot... left my purse in the office." she said, looking around at her arms for it. "Should probably go get that while the Doctors are still around." she said. It would be a good distraction if she didn't need to walk past the cell again to get to it.
=================================
"Thank you." Doctor Gray replied as she took the glass from him. When she went to take a drink, she took... a tad more than just a sip. Pulled the glass away from her lips, then leaned her head back and closed her eyes as she let it sizzle down her throat. Then she gave a satisfied sigh and leaned her head back down.
"Guh... that's better. Thank you for coming in on such sort notice too, doctor." she said, looking back to Doctor Villa.
