Rosa Belle: *Gently lands on the ground in front of the shops door, bells jingling lightly*

Sho: *lounging around outside under a tree, absently playing a small wooden flute while his dad runs errands*

Rosa Belle: *Ears perk at the sound of a flute* Hmmm...? Vat iz zat? *Slowly makes her way to the kit, bells jingling with her movement*

Sho: -Has his eyes closed so doesn't see the approaching Noodle, but hears the chiming of the bells. Cracks open an eye and watched the approaching female with caution.-

Rose Belle: *Pauses and eyes the kit and the flute* Oh? A little god kit? *Gives a warm smile* Zat was some nice playing~

Sho: -Finishes the song. Lowers the flute and eyes the female like he suspects her of being sarcastic.- "It was the first song I learned. I don't know the newer ones well enough to play by memory yet."

Rosa Belle: *Raises an eyebrow a tad bit, taking a tiny note of the look he just gave her. she shrugs it off as she ruffles her wings up a bit* Zat iz all you learned? Zoo you plan on prackticing ze other songs, too? *Has no idea how to address a kit, really. Or a godling, at that...}

Sho: -Feathers ruffle a bit as his wings twitch into a slightly defensive pose.- "I'm not a music god, okay? It's not like I can just know this stuff. Never had a teacher until recently, so one song's just all I got right now."

Rose Belle: *Puts a paw to her chest* Well, excuze moi! I zid not mean to offend you, monsieur. I waz juzt curious! Az they zay, curiosity killed ze cat, i zuppose!

Sho: -Still looking a tad suspcious, though seems slightly mollified by her apology.- "That's silly. You're not a cat, and you aren't killed either. Who the heck would say something weird like that?"

Rosa Belle: I know zat. It iz simply just a zaying, little one. *Gives a small nod, bells ringing* By ze way, I am Rosa Belle. Might i ask your name? *Trying to be polite and kind to the god-kit*

Sho: -Mutters under his breath to himself.- "I still think it's weird and pointless." -Normal speaking voice again.- "'M Sho. You speak funny, lady."

Rosa Belle: *Opens her mouth to say something, then remembers this is a kit, closing her mouth* ... *Exhales the breath she was holding in, taping her 'fingers' on the ground a bit* I zupose i do. But zoo you know why? It iz because I am French. *Forces a kind smile on her muzzle, tail tip twitching a bit* Zoo you get eet?

Sho: "Not at all." -Has an expression that says he really doesn't get it rather, than some other reason like being deliberately annoying. Lifts his flute to his lips and plays a few random notes, all of them in perfect pitch but not in any kind of discernable tune.-

Rosa Belle: You are one ztrange kit. *She bluntly states, shaking her head in slight agitation, her bells jingling* But i zupose you are but a young kit, Z...Ssh...Zsho. *Sticks her tongue out as her accent gets in the way of pronouncing his name right* forgive me for not being able zoo zay your name right, Monsieur. *Bows her head in a polite-apologetic manner*

Sho: -Lowers his flute and looks at Rosa in that blunt, frank manner children have.- "So? How come you talk different from everyone else? Cause I still don't get it."

Rosa Belle: Vell, uh... *Sits on her tush, thinking on how to explain this* Zo you have never met anyone who zounds different zan you? Vell, uh -hmmmmm... Zinc of it as... Ah, music! *Nods to his flute* Not all instruments zound ze same, right? If se did, it would be velly boring, non? Even zen, each instrument makes different, multiple zounds! I zpeak two different languages. Not juz one... Get eet now?

Sho: -Ponders Rosa's words for a moment.- "I thought I did, but nope. You trying to say me and everyone else are flutes and you're something like a clarinet or whatever?"

Rosa Belle: *Ears fall back, her earnings tinging a bit* I zupose you could zay that. I would not be ze only clarinet, zough. *Huffs lightly* Zere are more. Zere are even violins, zellos and zo on.

Sho: -Shrugs, paws running over his flute.- "You're the first person I've met who speaks different. Didn't know people came in as many sounds as instruments do."

Rosa Belle: Vell, we do! Jus like coming in different shapes, zizes and zo on. We all zound different, too~ *Gives a nod, hoping he gets it now*

Sho: -Lifts his flute to his lips and automatically begins playing the only song he knows again, letting the concept settle into his brain. He had thought of people like different instruments before, but usually all different variations of flutes since he knew those best.-

Rosa Belle: *Sits in silence, politely listening to Sho play his song*

Sho: -Gets about two-thirds through the song before he suddenly stops playing; apparently the thought had sunken it, though it would probably take a few days before he'd managed to comfortably wiggle the notion in among the othr he had.- "So what's a clarinet doing with with all the flutes?"

Rosa Belle: Vell tink of it az a band or zometing of ze sort. Most of zem has various instrument, non?

Sho: "Well yea, but up until now all I've seen is a ton of different kinds of flutes. No clarinets or any other instruments."

Rosa Belle: How long have you been here, exactly? Zis iz my first day here, myzelf. Alzo, all ze... Others you have zeen, have you actually zpoken with zem or only zaw zem?

Sho: -Makes a miffed face.- "I don't go out and talk to people, I usually just listen. I've heard plenty of different people talking!"

Sho: -Sitting in the room already and examining sheet music in front of him while practicing the fingering on his flute, occasionally glancing up at the people gathered.-

Kali: *weaves her way around and spots the god kit, tilts her head and wanders over* All alone little one?

Sho: -He started in surprise at being addressed, having been absorbed in trying to learn a new song. He had to look up, and up and up, to see the face of the one speaking to him; it was his first time meeting a fully grown goddess.- "Maybe, maybe not. Not safe to tell a stranger something like that."

Kali: *blinks starry eyes slowly* That is true. But I would no more hurt you than one of my own family. And in a way we are family you and I. Being what we are and all. *sits down and curls her tail around herself*

Sho: -He bristled just a little at the mention of family.- "I've got a family already. No one else gets to claim that." -Scowling a bit, he looked back at the music sheets and his fingers automatically began moving again.-

Kali: *raises one eyebrow* No need to get angry. I didn't mean to offend. It's just how I feel about such things. I think there are others that do as well. *peers at the sheet music and absently hums a few bars*

Sho: -Still frowning, but appears a teeny bit appeased.- "Well I don't. Got no reason to." -He says it in a quite matter-of-fact tone. When the goddess starts humming the tune he's currently studying, he gave her a curious glance.- "You can read music?"

Kali: That may change with age, perhaps. My great granddaughter seems to have some ideas that may be similar to yours. *shakes her head thinking of Chandra, then glances up* Of course I can. I'm a music goddess. I play many instruments but I have a soft spot for string instruments.

Sho: -He gave the goddess a surprised look.- "Music?" -He looked back down at the flute in his hands.- "I just know flutes really well. Still gotta learn the music for it, but always been able to play. Just didn't have any sense to it 'til I started learning."

Kali: *nods* It's my domain. *looks at him* Our gifts come to us randomly and unexpectedly. You may yourself be a music god. You'll of course know as you get older and gain more experience.

Sho: -Shrugs.- "I don't think music itself will be my domain. Might be something with instruments."

Kali: That is possible. *nods* But as I said, only time will tell. *smiles*

Sho: "Hmm." -He gave the female a quick look-over, and seemed a little happier that she looked nothing like him.- "Guess I still gotta wait then."

Tempo: *spots Serenade and snuggles up to her* Hello, little sister. *looks around, spots Sho and smiles at him* Hello, who are you, Little One? *takes time to notice he's a god. Oops...maybe she should have said that a bit differently*

Serenade: -Makes chinking sounds somewhere between a chime and clack- [That's Sho! He's with Nightingale!]

Sho: -Glances over at Serenade, appreciating her claim even if the adult female can't hear her, gives the adult a closer look. She shares a few features with his father, but looks more like Cadence, whom he vaguely knows, in coloring.- "I'm watching my aunt." -Gives the bowl at Tempo's feet a significant glance.- "Who're you?"

Tempo: *Smiles at the chinking sounds, even though she hasn't a clue what it meant* Your aunt? *glances down at the bowl, then back at Sho. This she hadn't heard about; one of her siblings must have adopted* Well, I'm her big sister, so I guess I'm your aunt too. *smiles* I'm Tempo; do you belong to Harmony or Nightingale?

Serenade: [He's too talented to be Harmony's kid!]

Sho: -Snorts in laughter at Serenade's comment- "That was mean. She's got talent, just not a natural-born musician." -Turns his attention back to the strange female, feeling a little curious now.- Dad. Nightingale. You're his sister? -Tries to remember the names of Nightingale had mention.- "Temp...Tempre.....Tempo?"

Tempo: *glances from Serenade to Sho* You can understand her? *wags tail happily* That's awesome, I assume she said something bad about Harmony? *giggles. It was always fun to tease Harmony* Yes, I'm Tempo. *chuckles harder* Figures you belong to Nightingale; probably why I haven't even heard of you yet. *smiles fondly at her brother's lack of communication skills* It's nice to meet you, Sho. Welcome to the family

Serenade: -Chimes lazily.- [If you think it's fun to tease Harmony, wait 'til you meet Nocturne.] -Clacks a stick once against the side of her bowl.- [On second thought, you might never want to meet Nocturne!]

Sho: -Glances down at Serenade and nods solemnly.- "I'm glad she's confined to a bowl and does not have wings!" -Looks back at Tempo.- "She said Nocturne would probably be more fun to tease, but you might want to be careful. Nocturne is very...energetic." -Twitches a little at the percieved slight to Nightingale, but tells himself not to snap.- "Dad's just been busy teaching me. We like to be away from everyone when we practice, that's all."

Tempo: *hears the clacking and was just about to ask what they were talking about when Sho told her* Energetic, huh? I think Nocturne and I could have a lot of fun together. Maybe pull a prank or two on Harmony. *laughs lightly and flicks her tail. Harmony was always fun to argue with. Hears the slightly defensive tone in Sho's voice and smiles gently* I didn't mean anything by that; Gale's always kept to himself, so it's only natural I get the news late. You practice with him? Do you sing too, Sho?

Serenade: -Clacks some more.- [Hmph. If you think she won't take the opportunity to pull a prank on you at the same time, you're pretty naive.]

Sho: -Translates.- "She said to be careful, Nocturne will probably trick you while you're tricking Harmony." -He shrugged.- "I don't sing very well. I mostly play flute, but he's been teaching me some other instruments too."

Tempo: Oh, Seranade, I've grown up with siblings too; if she tries to trick me, I'll trick her back. That's the way of family. *smiles at both of them* The flute? Do you play while he sings? Oh, that would be lovely, I bet. I couldn't, maybe, get you to play a piece for me?

Serenade: [Obviously you've never met Nocturne before then...]

Sho: -Aside to Serenade- "Well she's still a bowl and can't get into much mischief yet, so looks like she'll have to wait and see." -Back to Tempo, looking just a little flustered.- "I-I suppose I could." -Pulls out the little wooden flute he carries with him, puts it to his lips and pauses, then starts playing one of the new songs he recently memorized.-

Tempo: *she smiled at Sho and dropped her chin onto her paws, ears forward and listening intently. She even closed her eyes and let the music wash over her. He was really, really talented. She was sure Nightingale was a great teacher too, to help Sho become so good so quickly. Waiting til the last notes faded out, Tempo opened her eyes* That was beautiful, Sho.

Serenade: -Chiming softly with the music as Sho plays, falls silent once he stops. She clacked a chopstick against the side of her bowl after Tempo commented.- [Well of course! He's a god of flutes, so what else would he be!]

Sho: -Wry voice tone, to both Tempo and Serenade.- "I'm no musician. I can play pretty, but I can't seem to make up a song to save my feathers.

Tempo: *watches the rattling bowl* It will be nice when I can understand you directly, Little Sis. *back to Sho* You can be a musician without being a composer. I hardly ever compose my own vocals, and when I do there aren't any words because I'm no lyricist. Besides, Sho, you're still young. Perhaps one day you'll find your inspiration to compose your own piece. Or you can go off by yourself and just...play from your heart, whatever you're feeling: Happy, lonely, sad, excited. I bet you could express all of that through your flute with practice.

Sho: -Gives Tempo a small smile.- "I guess so."

Serenade: [-snorts- Well ya'll have fun with your music. I'll be out in the garden, enjoying myself.]

Tempo: *smiles fondly at her nephew* I have faith in you. *pokes the clacking bowl gently* What was that?

Serenade: [Nothin'.]

Sho: "She'd rather mess with plants than music."

Tempo: Oh, I bet Mother will love that. I was never one for plants, but I did sing with her.

Serenade: [She sings too much while she works. I like the sounds nature makes best.]

Sho: -Snorts.- "Just a heads up, once she comes out of the bowl don't take anything she says personally. She's just worse than me at tact."

Tempo: *laughs* Alright, I'll make sure to thicken my skin. I doubt she'll be any worse than her older siblings. And if she is, I'll make sure to send any kids I may have after her. *addresses bowl directly* Got that? I hope they jump on you. A lot.

Serenade: [Hmph. Nocturne's already a pouncer, and she's still a bowl. I got plenty of practice avoiding pouncers.]

Sho: -Snorts.- "She says challenge accepted."

Tempo: Better get on those babies then. *chuckles* Too bad you don't have any cousins to play with, Sho. Or nieces and nephews for you, Serenade. Though I'll play with you guys, *shrugs* if you'd like.

Serenade: -Bubbles, sounding a bit like a snort.- [I have a nephew. It's that guy right there. My sibs are plenty right now.]

Sho: -Shrugs.- "She made a point that I am her nephew and that she doesn't really care what she doesn't have, cause what she does have is plenty."

Lyric: *Is beginning to wonder just what he does to miss so much of his family's growth these days*

Sho: *flutters out and lands slightly apart, folding his giant wings to his back*

Gale: *follows a bit behind Sho, also flying, lands close to his son*

Cadence: *has no wings, so had to walk out*

Serenade: *could fly, but decides to walk in with her mother*

Sho: *flutters out and lands slightly apart, folding his giant wings to his back*

Gale: *follows a bit behind Sho, also flying, lands close to his son*

Cadence: *has no wings, so had to walk out*

Serenade: *could fly, but decides to walk in with her mother*

Req: *Hides curled up in his father's tail*

Harmony: *Flits in, landing behind her father to investigate her younger brother.* Kinda.. small isn't he?

Serenade: *trots right up to her father, peers at her brother* Whatcha doin' hidin' in there?

Cadence: *walks over to Lyric and nuzzles him, practically purring as she views all her children and their grandchild*

Gale: *ghosts forward quietly behind his mother, stops beside his oldest sister and peers at his father's tail with her*

Sho: *follows Gale, walking just as softly; stops behind him and Harmony and uses his superior height to look over then and at the two tiny children*

Req: *Eyes his litter mate quietly with large doe like eyes.*

Lyric: *Nuzzles Cadence in return* My dear, I do belive our household as expanded exponentially.

Harmony: *Snickers* Dad.. it did that when the first of us got here..

Serenade: Huh. You don't talk much? Guess Noc got all the talk then.

Cadence: *laughs, leans over and taps her eldest's nose before leaning back into Lyric* Six children now, and soon you'll be finding your own mates and have your own kids. We might have to expand the house.

Gale: *watches the children curiously*

Sho: *watching the little, one of whom he knows from when she was a bowl, though keeps his ears open for the conversation going on around him*

Req:*Wiggles his ears in a way to try to comunicate.*

Lyric: *Smiles* True.. And yes.. We might very well need to... Grandchildren... everything.. so many...

Harmony: *Giggles* It's ok.... I'm in no rush to go out and have kids... *Looks to her brother's son.* Not that kids aren't cute.. Just don't think there's some one out there terribly interested in me ^W^

Serenade: *snorts, looks up at her parents* I'ma build a greenhouse and live in it, so you guys can use my room for something else. *looks down at her little brother* You can live in there with me too, if you want. Not Nocturne though, she's too loud and energetic.

Cadence: *silently chuckles at Serenade's statement, but directs her words at Lyric* Well, it's something we can plan on doing in the future, anyway. As far as I know there's nothing in the offing- *heard Harmony* -, but surprises do happen. *smiles at Sho*

Gale: *soft voice* I don't have anyone interested in me, but I already have a son. Kids happen when you least expect them.

Sho: *arranges himself a bit protectively behind Gale, nods in response to Cadence's smile*

Req: *smiles and gives a small wiggle of his noce before a soundless laugh*

Lyric: *Shakes his head some* Well we'll always have options though.

Harmony: I didn't mean anything bad by it.. Honnestly. I just meant that I was't activly saught after.. Besides Sho's adorable... *Grins* and.. I moved out a while back... so my room's empty too.

Serenade: *tilts her head* Can't tell if that's a yes or a no.

Cadence: Quite turn. *glances at Harmony again, arranges her face in mock sadness* Though if our oldest children are already starting to leave us, we might have plently of room. Not if there was a large family living with us, but I imagine visits wouldn't be too crowded.

Gale: *just smiles softly and bumps Harmony's shoulder with his own*

Sho: *snorts* Excuse me? I'm an adult now, and bigger than all of you. I think I stopped being "adorable" a long time ago.

Req: *Nods a few times before slowly crawling out of his father's tail and turning those doe like wide eyes at the rest of his family*

Lyric: She's a grown girl Cadence... We knew it'd happen some day.. And yes. Visits won't be too terribly crowded.. unless they all visit at once and are snowed in by a blizzard...

Harmony: *Grins and Snuggles into Gale some before turning a rather cheeky look to her nephew* Grown and tall or not.. You're still going to remain my adorable fluffy little nephew...

Serenade: Awesome. *smiles a little* Guess first I gotta get someone to build me a greenhouse. *eyes her father*

Cadence: *giggles a little at the looked Serenade is giving Lyric*
Gale: *crouches down a bit so he's more on eye level with the kits*

Sho: *snorts* I'd threaten to drop you in a lake for that, but unfortunately you have wings.

Req: *looks from one member to the next each in turn.*

Lyric: * Follows Serenade's conversation and look.* Oh no.. Not me.. I'm.. an old man *Mock cough*

Harmony: *Chuckles* That and I don't mind going for swims in the lake.. so.. point is moot.

Serenade: *pouts* But I need someone to build it for me. How else am I going to make potions for your aching joints if I can't grow the proper plants?

Cadence: *chuckles in amusement, but tries coming to her mate's aid* Seasonal stuff is good enough for you right now as you learn. If you want it to be your hothouse, it might be best if you build it yourself. That'll make it more special, don't you think.

Gale: *smiles silently at the conversations going on*

Sho: No, that takes away the whole point and lessens my satisfation. I guess I could sit on you, tiny as you are compared to me. Juvenile, but it's all I got right now.

Req: *Laughs silently once more and scoots over to sit beside his brother*

Lyric: *Your mother's got a point.. building something with your own steme does make it more special.

Harmony: Sit on me?? *Chuckles* I might just tickle you till you wet yourself.

Serenade: *grumbles* Fine. But when I do, none of you are allowed inside without permission!

Cadence: *chuckles* I suppose that sounds fair

Gale: *examines his new little brother unobstrusively while still listening to the conversations, amused*

Sho: Che, like you'd be able to reach. I don't think you're understanding the concept of being sat upon; it means pinned, completely able to move 'til I decide to take my fluffy white bum elsewhere

Req: *Places his paws on his brothers face and investigates him for a moment.*

Lyric: Fair.. It'll be your sanctuary. This I promise you ok?

Harmony: Your dad obviously didn't tell you just how easily I can get out of things did he? *Chuckles again* My.. so serious, Sho... Lighten up will ya??

Lysia: ((Req's ability once he does open up will be something dead related... >.> hence his name ^W^ Maybe it's the dead calling for him to sing to lay them at peace that has him so afraid to speak...))

Serenade: *gives her family a suspcious look* I dunno... What if you think you need to come in there to look for me, or to "tidy up"?

Cadence: Well, maybe you should figure out how to make sure we can't.

Gale: *closes his eyes on the side of his face Requiem is exploring, sits there with good-natured patience*

Sho: You've obviously never been sat on by a god before. And I like being irritable, sue me.

Req: *Sniffs and snuffles about at his brother's head, getting to know him as best as he could with just sight, smells and touch. Once satisfied with Gale's face, he moves to inspect other things like Gale's wings.*

Lyric: *Smiles* You're mother's right.. Besides.. if we're looking for you.. We can knock and call to you.. but you have to agree to answer us... Even if you're hiding from your siblings, ok?

Harmony: *Shakes her head some.*

Serenade: *snorts* I already invited Req to live with me. Everyone else but Noc are usually off somewhere doing something, so she's the only one I'd be hiding from.

Cadence: She does seem to enjoy chewing on your ears.

Gale: *lightly moves his wings under the questing paws, shifting to give his brother a better understanding of their build*
Sho: *takes her silence as a win, pleased with himself and goes back to watching his baby uncle poke his father*

Req: *Shifts and moves as he imspects them before realizing he has his nephew's attention on him. Giving Sho those wide doe like eyes aswell, he slowly shrinks off Gale's wing to shrink under it instead.*

Lyric: Harmony Use to enjoy pestering her siblings too.. remember?

Harmony: What?? It was harmless kid stuff.. besides.. if anyone hurt them i was there to bean them for their offenses...

Serenade: She and Noc can battle it out them. Youngest versus oldest or something.

Cadence: Oh my! Maybe it's a good thing some of the kids are moving out if this is what we're getting! *laughs*

Gale: *looks behind him, speaks in his usual whisper voice* It's alright. He looks scarier than he is.

Sho: *snorts, lays down and curls his tail around himself*

Req: *Peeks out and eyes his older nephew giving him a smile before looking off beside Sho like he's watching something that really isn't there at all.*

Lyric: Maybe... Other wise we might be finding one house wide war started...

Harmony: Nah.. I've Kinda grown out of it to be honest... It's not as much fun when you're older.. though it's not much fun being so much smaller than your nephew either... All joking aside.. he'd crush me if he sat on me with that bit fluffy butt...

Serenade: Too bad we don't got horns to go with the wings.

Cadence: Well I don't think you'd get your head into play anyway sweetie, otherwise you could just bit. Horns traditionally tend to curl, not point up, so they just help to give you a hard head.

Gale: *follows Req's gaze curiously*

Sho: *gives himself an all-over shake* Ugh. I'm glad I'm not something like a death or supernatural god, it's bad enough getting that creepy feeling.

Req: *Watches that which is not seen a while longer before looking to his nephew and back at the 'invisible' thing.*

Lyric: Well.. there are those that do have pointed hornes.. but i think those are few...

Harmony: *Blinks and eyes her baby brother before looking up at

Sho: Creepy feeling.. you mean there's something dead hanging about?

Serenade: *never seen those before*

Cadence: *nods* Those tend to be unique traits, yes.

Gale: *wings twitch a little, curious*

Sho: Not always. Dead things, magic, some fae creature. Could be any number of things.

Req: * Shifts like he's trying to hear it better.. Before taking a small wooshing sort of gasp of air, shaking his head and scrambling to hide in Sho's fluffy tail.*

Lyric: Very unique, Serenade.. There are those with what look to be antlers and some who even whear armor..

Harmony: So.. what ever it is Req can see it?

Serenade: Odd...

Cadence: Different, mostly. Differences usually seem odd to those who don't have those differences.

Gale: *looks surprised at Req's sudden leap*

Sho: *nearly jumps himself as something small and fluffy suddenly burrows into his tail, but manages to keep still* How should I know. See it, sense it, hear it. Hearing seems most logical, given his mother possesses music-based magic, Unless your dad secretly has magic, I can't think of why he should be seeing stuff unless magic did one of those annoyingly unexpected things.

Req: *Muzzle pokes out from his hiding spot.*

Lyric: It's our diferences that make us unique... You wouldn't want your siblings calling you strange or odd because you have wings when they do not, right?

Harmony: *Looks over at her father and shrugs* To be honest.. Dad doesn't talk much about his past if it doesn't concern music or mom.. so really Who knows what he could be a carrier of...

Serenade: *raises an eyebrow, glances over at Nightingale and Harmony* Uh huh. Pretty sure half of them got nothing taunt me over.

Cadence: *does a quick count, finds it a little amusing that the family is divided evenly between normals and demon-winged*.

Gale: *looks between Sho and Harmony with curiousity, glances at Dad as well and back to his sister* I've never noticed anything, and Mom's never said...

Sho: Well who wants to have visual magic. Either you see creepy stuff or you creep people out. I wouldn't admit to it either. *looks back at his baby uncle* You okay in there? Not gonna get lost, good oxygen supply?

Lysia: ((lolol i think Req found his fav family members hahaha))

Req: *Nods from inside his hiding spot.*

Lyric: Well.. Half of them might have the wings.. but there's the other half.. All we're saying is.. not to be so... unthoughtful of the things you say to discribe differences.

Harmony: *Nods* I think I agree... If i saw strange things I doubt I'd even tell my mate... *Eyes her dad carefully wondering just what he's hiding....*

Serenade: *defensive* What? If it's odd it's odd. I didn't say bad odd.

Cadence: Try unique next time. It means the same thing, almost, but sounds a bit nicer.

Gale: *looks thoughtful* Maybe it's rare? I mean Mom's got two kinds of magics, but they work in tandem so it only seems like one. Noc and I got music magic and Sera got plant magic, but no one else has gotten both. Maybe Rec got a combo, but instead plant and music he got one of Mom's magics and the other from Dad?

Sho: *shrugs, wings shifting with the movement* Well, magic is some weird stuff. Heck, you could all have gotten something from him if combos are in your DNA, but it's just dormant since Cadence seems to have particularly upfront stuff. Maybe Req's just the first unlucky kid to get the dormant gene raging full force since great-great-grandpa or something like that. It happens.

Sho: *wanders over to the bowls and stares expectantly at them, planning to have a conversation with all three to let them in their dad and aunt are weird*

Bolero: *chimes* [Hello]

Tempo: *just freaking beams at everyone* Everyone, this is Bolero. Yami and I haven't quite gotten the other names down yet~ Yami tells me I lied; he's decided the girl's name is 'Yugi'
Yugi: *wiggles her Hello too*

Cadence: *trots over and happily nuzzles her daughter* They're beautiful, Tempo!

Nightingale: *nods and smiles at his sister*

Serenade: Well at least they seem to look a lot like you so far. That's good.

Sho: The kid said hello, by the by. *leans in close to the bowl, whispers quietly to it* I'll talk to your siblings after the humans are done messing about, but gotta warn you. Your daddy and Aunt Serenade....don't let them infect you with their dumb moments. They'll try to pull you into their battles if they can. *nods, stands back up*

Tempo: Thank you, Mama~ *nuzzles her mother back, proud as can be, smiles at Nightingale* Will you help me teach them to sing, Gale? *To Sera* Thanks, but I can't wait to see them. I'll bet they look like both of us.

Bolero: [Don't worry, I have a secret they don't know yet~]

Cadence: *chuckles* Now you get to see what it's like to raise kids. Hope they give you as much trouble as you lot gave me!

Nightingale: *blushes a little* Father would probably be best. He's a better teacher.

Serenade: Well as long as they can see better than him, that's fine.

Sho: *chuckles softly* Anything you can tell me?

Tempo: *chuckles* You're going to spoil them, aren't you, Mama? *turns to her brother* Nonsense, you'll be a great teacher. Though I'm definitely going to ask Papa to help me too. And Yun to help them learn magic, if they can. *To Sera* Are you going to hide from them? *grins*

Bolero: [Music magic. I can affect others. I think just emotions, but I'll have to try it out to be sure. If they get too out of hand with each other, I'll sing them into peaceful thoughts] *smug*

Cadence: *grins* Of course! It's practically required for a grandmother to spoil her grandchildren!

Serenade: Pfff! Two strange males around a kit? It's common sense to go somewhere safe in case they're weirdos. These guys are family.

Nightingale: *still seems a little reluctant about how much help he could be*

Sho: *half-listening to the others, privately thinks Gale could be a big help; Bolero's power sounded quite close to what his father could do with his own music magic* That's a very good secret. Try to keep it secret too, cause if they figure it out it might not work.

Tempo: *grins back at her mother* As long as you don't fill them full of candy right before sending them home. *to Gale, since she knows that look* You'll be great, you taught Sho wonderfully, after all. *to Sera* /Technically/, little sister, Yami and Yun are your family too as Yami and I are lifemated. *flicks tail and smiles*

Bolero: *tinkles a laugh* [Of course I wont be telling them. Daddy may guess though....]

Cadence: Oh no, that would be bad for them! I'll think up something a bit better.

Serenade: Well I didn't know that since I wasn't introduced to them, formally or otherwise, big sister.

Nightingale: *looks curiously at Sho and Bolero* What are you two talking about?

Sho: *shakes his head* It's a secret. You'll have to ask Bolero for permission if you want to know. *looks back at the bowl* They can guess all they want. If they don't know for sure though, it's still a secret.

Tempo: I'm just kidding, mama. *eyes her mother suspiciously for the 'something better' comment. *blushes at Sera's comment* Yes, well, that will be remedied as soon as possible....

Bolero: [True. And I intend to keep it that way as long as possible.]

Cadence: *grins* Well I'm not! *chuckles*

Serenade: Well too late for that, at least with that weird dude who's your mate.

Sho: I wish you luck with that. *glances at the quiet Rakesh and the non-present Yugi* Wonder if they've got secrets too. Did you tell them your secret like you told me?

Nightingale: *smiles a little as he watches Sho; the god already did really well with the shy Requiem and more energetic Nocturne and Serenade; he appeared to be good with children*

Tempo: *shakes head* I may just leave them all with you for a night or two, Mother, if you spoil them too much. *to Sera* He's not weird...well, not really. I'm goin to introduce him anyway.

Bolero: *tinkles uncertainly* [I might tell Rakesh, I'm not sure if I'll tell Yugi. She might tell Dad. I have a feeling she'll be a daddy's girl]

Cadence: *laughs at that* Ooh good, give Grandma several /days/ to work her magic! Well, the nonmagical magic, you know what I mean.

Serenade: He's weird. End of story.

Jinx: Sera, you're so mean XD

Sho: *nods* Then I promise I won't say anything in case you change your mind about telling them. *glances over at his dad* You might tell your Uncle Nightingale later though. *speaks quietly* His secret is a lot like yours.

Gale: *looks curious* What are you whispering to him?

Sho: *looks up, winks* That's also a secret.

Tempo: *wrinkles her nose at her mother* I will hype them up before leaving them with you. *smiles, though. To Sera* He's not weird, he's a pirate. A Devil Pirate.

Bolero: [Then Mama's right, he should teach me~!] *wiggles a chopstick at his Uncle Gale*

Cadence: You can't scare me girl, I've got babies of my own!

Serenade: And that's weird.

Sho: *chuckles* Well your uncle is really shy, so you'll have to think of a good way to ask.

Gale: ...*not sure if he approves of the one side of the conversation he's hearing*

Tempo: *chuckles at her mom* Haha, I suppose that's true. They're gonna love you and Daddy. *sticks tongue out at Sera* You're weird. *reaches over to ruffle her hair*

Bolero: [Will big kit eyes work?]

Cadence: *grins* Well, that's the plan anyway.

Serenade: *grumbles at the hair-ruffling, but doesn't move away* Never said I wasn't.

Sho: Hmmm. Maybe, or they could backfire big time.

Gale: *yup, really doesn't approve of the one side of the convo he's hearing*

Tempo: Of course they'll love you, Mama. You're the only Grandma they have, and you're going to spoil them rotten. *chuckles at Sera* No, you never did. And you never should, or you'd be lying. *blinks* Oh yes, and I have to get my kids to bounce on you. I did promise you nieces and nephews that would jump on you.

Bolero: [What if I just follow him around until he teaches me.] *stubborn kit is stubborn*

Cadence: Guess I'll just have to spoil them twice as much then!

Serenade: Uuuh huh. They can try, but I can climb higher than they can wiggle right now.

Sho: Well he's got wings and you don't, so that might not work either.

Tempo: That is sooo not what I meant, Mama. *shakes head with a grin* Not if they do a surprise attack, Sera. *grins*

Bolero: [...he would leave his /defensless/ nephew all /alone/?] *can barely stop his bowl from tinkling with laughter*

Cadence: *just grins*

Serenade: *snorts* They can /try/. I grew up with Nocturne.

Sho: No. He'd either leave me with you, or circle overhead to make sure you were alright

Zanshin: ((Also, read the txt wrong, the girl's name isn't Yugi >.>))

Jinx: ((XD))

Tempo: *just snuggles her mom. eyes Sera* I wonder if any of them can float. *imagines Sera being followed by a floating bowl and snickers*

Bolero: [Hmmm...how would you go about asking him?]

Vanhi: [*watches as her family talks with each other*]

Serenade: I wouldn't try it. *not sure if bowls can survive immersion in water or not*

Sho: You don't. He comes up to you and offers. That's how he first started teaching me.

Jinx: ((Guys.... I'm sorry for Rakesh. Just sayin' it now. He just....happened like that
> _>))

Tempo: Well, you'll probably have to tell /them/ that.

Bolero: [What if I tell him I'm having problems controlling my magic? Not /lying/ of course. I may just be awesome straight out of the bowl. but if I'm /not/....]

Zanshin: ((Happened like what? O.o))

Vanhi [*spots her dad and starts to wiggle against her mommy*]

Jinx: ((Ummm, well ;^^))

Tempo: *looks up to see Yami and smiles at him*

Zanshin: ((well, what? ~_~))

Yami: *walks in rubbing the bridge of his nose and sans Eye patch* sorry I had to stop by my dad's to get healed and the coffee shop was packed or I would have been here sooner tempo *rubs his cheek against hers*

Serenade: They're your kids, why should I tell them not to go floating? Not like I visit water anyway, I'm not a fish!

Sho: I think your daddy could help you if you were having troubles. And Gale would know, he's pretty observant. If he thought you were in trouble, he'd probably offer to help. *looks at Vanhi* Hello there.

Rakesh: -Wobbles loudly into the room, clacking his chopstick against the side of the bowl and making as much noise as possible.- [Hi Mommy, hi Daddy!]

Tempo: *sits a little straighter* Healed? From what? *looks at Sera* I meant floating through the /air/ but...alright. *grins. Nuzzles her first born son* Hello Rakesh

Bolero: *tinkles a 'hi' to his dad* [I hope so. I wouldn't like to lose control of my magic and hurt someone.]

Yami: ah... I'll tell you later maybe, there are more important things going on like these little fellahs....

Tempo: *frowns at her mate* Don't think you're getting off the hook. Mom, Sera, this is Yami, my mate <3

Serenade: Well thankfully for all of us bowls can't float. *ignoooooores Yami*

Cadence: *beams* Pleasure to meet you!

Sho: I don't think you would. It appears to be more of an intent thing, so as long as you don't mean harm it shouldn't be too bad. We'll all keep an eye on you.

Rakesh: -Bubbles cheerfully like laughter, wobbles over to his sibs.- [Hey guys! Listen to this!] -Starts hissing and bubbling like a boiling pot.-

Tempo: They're part Kirin...maybe they could. *frowns at Sera now and pokes her with a paw* Be nice. *to Cadence* I'm so glad you two can finally meet. I hope you like him, Mama~

Bolero: [I don't want to get angry and hurt someone.] *sees? his big brother come up, and laughs at his antics* [Cool~! Look what I can do.] *wobbles in a way that makes the clacking of chopsticks and chopsticks rolling on the bowl sound musical, even putting it to the bubbling and hissing of Rakesh*

Vanhi [ uhuh... ]

Yami: Nice to meet you to. *turns to Tempo* uh maybe ^.^

Serenade: Nope, I don't do nice. And I've never seen a Kirin bowl float, so doubt it.

Sho: Well you just gotta learn to keep your temper separate. No one wants to sing when they're mad, anyway.

Cadence: Pleasure indeed! Looks like you two have quite a handful!

Rakesh: -Clacks his chopstick noisily.- [Yay! I like making noise, noise is fun!] -Chimes loudly in a not-so-melodic way.-

Tempo: They could use wind magic? I don't know, I'm not a kirin, nor am I magical. *chuckles* We do, Mama. And we still have to introduce everyone to Yun and Papa.

Bolero: *stops his music with the off sounds Rakesh was making* [Rakeeeesh...]

Rakesh: [What? I like noise, the noisier the better!]

Jinx: ((Yea, that's what I'm sorry for ;^^))

Yami: Kirins can float but its not a skill they develop for a while and they might pick up wind magic. Dad has it pretty strong and I got it.

Serenade: *eyes Rakesh* Hope he doesn't get it, he's loud enough already.

Yami: well its good that he's so lively if nothing else. ^.^

Rakesh: -Happily clacking as loudly as he can.-

Serenade ~_~

Vanhi: [uh... I want to listen to you Rakesh but being loud hurts my ears... may I converse with you a bit quiter?]

Rakesh: -Bubbles and steams.- [Aw, but quiet's no fun!]

Vanhi: [ well maybe.... but I cant talk with you otherwise crying ]

Rakesh: [Sure you can!] -Clacks loudly.- [See? I can talk and do this at the same time!] -Bubbles happily.-

Vanhi:*does the bowl verison of tearing up* [Rakesh... its not a matter of not being able to do it... I....] *suddenly world doesnt hurt any more....*

Yun: you just had a little ear ache... you feel better now?

Rakesh: [Hi Grandpa!] -Does one of his chimes that sounds like a scaled-down verions of hammering on a sheet of mental, though it ends pleasantly enough.-

Yun: those are some pretty cool sounds your making there Rakesh *beems down at his Grandson*

Rakesh: -Happily makes more sounds for his grandpa.-

Vanhi: *is much more happier with her brother now that her ears are doing better*

Yun: are you going to try and become a musician like your mom's side of the family?

Jinx: ((I don't think Kirins can understand bowls. Is he just asking for the sake of asking?))

Nasaiki: ((Just asking for the sake of asking XD since Rakesh is making all those noises))

Rakesh: -Clacks sharply.- [I like to make noise! Is that the same as being a musician, cause I can do that!]

Vanhi- [ I dont think so Nii-chan]

Yun: Well I cant understand you yet, but what ever you decide I'm sure you'll do well in it

Lorik: He sat peacefully upon a large boulder that was nestle just at the lip of a large lake, harboring a few streams that dipped into it from various directions. His vivid, icy blue gaze stared into the rippling pool in a clear expression of bordom, large graceful wings slumped slightly behind his regal form, elongated tail like a sedated snake, laying lifelessly just as well. There was absoultely nothing to do... there were plenty creatures about, fish swimming, his trusty quail sleeping peacefully at his side, but... no means of good conversation, or at least something pleasing to his eyes. With all the excitement of his sister having another set of children, he'd begun to feel the lack of attention he normally got from her and the rest of his family, which now turned to the newest additions. It was only natural, of course, but... still... With a heavy sigh, the god ran a hand to gently smooth along his ponytail, letting it lace through his fingers, and along his palm, fiddling with it in an idle manner, ears starting to sag, "Such a boring day~"

Sho: A light wind sprung up, ruffling his loose bangs, the pale pink feathers of the giant wings folded to his back, and the large, loose white kimono he wore. The sleeves in particular seemed to draw comments just for their sheer size, though his adopted sister always had a comment to make about how he never seemed to stain all that white. She was always buried up to her shoulders in dirt and plants, it never seemed to occur to her that clean was an easy thing to do for normal folks.

Eyes that matched his wings in color surveyed the land in front of him with satisfaction. He'd decided to take a flight for a new place to practice his music, but lakes always seemed to hold a draw for him. He looked around for a place to sit and walked over to a rock set close to the water's edge. Sitting was a bit more of a hassle, involving the arrangement of sleeves and such, but Sho was very used to it by now. He liked his sleeves, everyone could just take their opinions and toss 'em off a cliff! He reached into one of those sleeves and pulled a small, delicate wooden flute out of one of the pockets sewn inside. It wasn't the rough one from his childhood, which he held a soft spot for yet didn't play as well as he'd liked as his skill improved, so he'd made this new one. Sho put the flute to his lips and blew gently into it, starting off with soft little melodies and warming up before he played.

Lorik: His eyes had eventually eased closed as he enjoyed the gentle breeze, and listened to the calls of birds chiming to one another. His mother would enjoy them even more... Greyson, his little quail, didn't stir from them though, lost in a deep slumber. It was times like these Lori wished he had a cloes friend outside of his family. Someone who was able to keep him entertained, and compliment him... someone who appreciated him. Tufted ears twirked as he heard the beating of large wings, making his lashes lift to unveil his glowers, letting his gaze slip over to the source.

He didn't make any sort of reaction, though he was surprised to see another god here now as well. He observed the other for a moment, taking note that he hadn't seen him before... granted he hadn't seen many gods in his days, but.. still. The guy didn't seem to notice him, or was ignoring him, which made Lori frown and look back to the lake instead. Well he didn't appreciate that. Normally he might call out a greeting, but... he was feeling particularly bratty today. However... his earst witched again as he heard the trickle of a new voice pipe up, one that was high in pitch, and held no sort of words he knew of.. Glancing over again he spied the flute, and was able to finally register what it was. A musician, hm? He hadn't met many of those... well, perhaps this would be entertaining in the least.

Sho: He started his warm-up just going through all the notes, from the lowest to the very highest and back down to low again. Then he began jumping through notes, playing a low one then going to its higher verison. Once he was sure his breathing was good he practiced fingering, moving through notes at low and high paces and jumping quickly through from simple fingerings to complicated ones. He ended the whole warm-up with a simple little song to get a tempo going in his head.

About halfway through his warm-up a flicker of movement caught his attention. It wasn't so unusual that he'd miss seeing the other god; he was looking for a sitting spot on this side of the lake and the other was (he was pretty sure it was a he) was sitting on the opposite side. And of course, once he started playing his flute he was staring at the water in front of him rather than looking around at the scenery. Well, this put a mild damper on his practicing plans...

Determined to get at least through one song, Sho finished his warm-up and then immediately launched into one of the newer songs he'd learned; a lively tune that wasn't loud, but jumped around to a lot of different notes. It was a great song to dance to.

Lorik: Quietly, he listened.. ears shifting subtly to the various notes and rhythmes that were produced. Well the guy seemed skilled at least. That was good. A terrible musician was always something that left a sort of disappointment. Such a craft was coveted, and Lori found it to be quite sad if it wasn't perfected... or at least close to that. His gaze lifted to watch this unknown god performing, still a bit tiffed to have been ignored... but he didn't let him sour his mood enough to leave.

The guy seemed impressive so far, with his talent, almost making him desire taking up an instrument himself! But... he didn't think that was really something he'd be good at. He wasn't the creative sort... at least he didn't believe so. Stroking his hair some more, he crossed a slender leg over the other, and tipped his head faintly, icy blue gaze narrowing with interest as the song transitioned into another. My.. the gentleman certainly had a wide variety in his arsonal. Truly a virtuoso. Lori found himself very engaged in the various songs now, glancing down as Greyson even began to wake from his rest, beady black eyes blinking a few times curiously, little head cocking to take a look at what was going on.

Sho: He finished the lively song with his foot tapping to keep time to the music, feeling the familiar rush of excitement that came along with it. His father liked singing the quieter dirges or love songs for their drawn-out qualities, but Sho found he prefered to play toe-tapping much. Just another difference on a long list, but oddly those things just seemed to help bond them rather than cause strife.

There was a tangible pause as the last note shivered on the air between the gods as Sho wondered whether he should play another song or stop and say something. It was clear the other had noticed him and was indeed watching him. But, well, he'd never been good at the whole words things and the last goddess he'd talked to had been kind but not particulary engrossing. With a mental shrug Sho launched into another song, this one a bit slower, but this time instead of staring off to the side his pink eyes made deliberate contact with the stranger's blue ones.

Lorik: His ears twitched when the others eyes met him, staring straight back. He crooked a brow in a questionative gesture. Oh... so he did know he was here, huh? Well, it was good he finally recognized. Not too angry now that he was acknowledged, Lori allowed his gaze to not be so narrow, as he listened to the next song that was transitioned into. Mother said it was rude to interject during a song...so he wouldn't. Greyson, however, was quite intrigued by the melodic tunes... and had his attention fully piqued and geared towards Sho.

So much so, that the plump little quail got up on his feet, and hopped off the rock that he'd been resting on with Lori. Glancing over to his feathered friend, the god blinked with surprise as he watched him scurry around the edge of the lake, heading to where the other god was! Typical... Greyson always had a short attention span... and always got distracted by things. Frowning slightly as he was abandoned, he looked back at the other man, twirling some of his ponytail around his finger. Greyson got around the pool of water rather quickly, and was soon standing beside Sho's rock, staring up at him, beady black eyes blinking multiple times at the flute.

Sho: A little bird suddenly popped up. Perhaps it had always been there and Sho hadn't seen it until it moved; its colors blended nicely with the rock. He had to stop himself from laughing at the look on the other god's face as the bird wandered off the rock and began working it's way along the shore. It appeared this was a pet of some kind and that the sudden desertion wasn't expected, though Sho made a surprised face of his own when the little bird continued wandering around the lake, heading towards him and stopping in front of the rock he was sitting on! Now that it was closer he could see the bird appeared to be a quail of some sort.

The song finished off with a warbling notes that seemed to sit in the air longer for being over the water, then faded away into silence. Sho lowered his flute and gave the quail a curious look, half-turning his head to shoot the god a questioning glance while keeping an eye on the bird. He wasn't sure what he was supposed to do, and didn't want to shout and possibly startle the little creature.

Lorik: Goodness Greyson could be so troublesome sometimes... Sighing, the god let his silky hair slip through his slender fingers, and rest along his bare shoulder, tail curling around his side. He gave a glance to the other god again before standing gracefully, his large wings flicking out to stretch. Well... he'd have to gather up the little quail so he wouldn't go bothering the other man. The creature was his responsibility after all. With a few easy flaps of his wings, he was able to just glide right over the lake to close the space between him and the other god, his gaze honed in on his little fowl, clearly in a reprimanding sort of expression.

"My apologies, sir. He lacks his manners from time to time." he spoke to Sho, looking back to him with a more calmer expression, though still stern in regards to the quail. Greyson, bobbed his head up, his plume bouncing lightly, as Sho had stopped his music, blinking curiously before glancing to Lori. His cheeks rose in a 'smile', chirping to the god he served. Sighing lightly, Lori shook his head, a hand placing to his cheek, "Why must you always do this, Greyson?"

Sho: He looked down at the little quail, chirping and bouncing happily and just so darn cute, and a small smile crossed his face. "Perhaps he was simply curious. There's no magic to my music, but I've been told that I still play very well." He looked the other god up and down. His clothing and physique were an interesting mix, like a warrior with something more feminine. Calling him a gigolo sounded rude, even in his head, and he seemed a bit too graceful for that anyway; gigolo brought to mind burly Italians or rougher types that still thought they were a deity's gift to the world.

"My father is a sir," he said, twitching his long sleeves a bit closer to his body. "I'm just Sho."

Lorik: Greyson made more cute little sounds of carefree bliss, soft and perky. This made the god give another silent sigh. The quail was clearly shameless... and held no regards to how his actions might affect others... though Lori could have that same trait himself. But that was besides the point! "Yes, you play fine enough~" he replied, crossing his slender arms over his chest, "But he knows it is not proper manners to simply interrupt someone when performing their craft." Greyson was shot a pointed look by Lori. Blinking those beady eyes up at the gods, looking back and forth, he simply kept on smiling, before hunkering down... and springing up to hop onto Sho's rock. He inspected the new god further, cocking his head at him, and checking out his pink wings. But his gaze was on that flute for the majority of the time... was that a bird as well?

Sho earned Lori's attention when introductions seemed to be next in line. "I am Lorik. And this is Greyson, my... 'faithful' companion.." his sarcasm dripped. The other god was younger, that was evident... but Lori didn't feel too threatened. He might be talented, but... the god of fog still felt himself to be more pretty... he was a little vain, after all.

"Do you come here often, Sho?" he asked, making idle conversation, small talk if you will.

Jinx: ((*laughs at the mental image she got* Sho likes Greyson. This is going to ruin him, he'll probably hunt down Lorik for no other reason than to visit and play for the quail XD))

Sho: He delivered a soft smile to the curious bird, one that a very few could ellicite from him. "I don't mind," Sho responded, and in his good humor he was a bit more open and polite with Lorik than he would have been in the god was on his own. His wings twitched a little as he watched Greyson examine them, and was amused to no end at the attention he paid to the flute.

"I don't come here often, actually. I prefer to practice at lakes, the sound seems to echo better, and I happened across this one." He brought the flute up to his lips and played a short, fluttering series of low notes, similar to a bird call but like no sound any bird in nature made. He lowered the flute again, turning his attention briefly back to the god. His hair in particular caught his attention. It was very soft looking and an interesting shade of blue. Sho wondered if he could play a song that echoed Lorik's hair.

Musica: { xD Lori would get super jealous. "A bird's getting more attention than me? |T hmph." Also, Lori's hair is black, with white tips. cx you may be thinking about one of his sisters~ }

Lorik: Head bobbing again to perk up, he flitted his own wings with Sho twitched his, instantly scurrying over to beging gently preening the wing like he did for Lori... of course.. this made said god narrow his eyes further. Such a faithful companion, indeed... He shook his head lightly to show his disappointment. Greyson was so easily won over by the smallest of things.

With Sho's response, Lori looked back at him, pursing his lips slightly in thought, before glancing around them. He didn't know a thing when it came to music, so he couldn't really agree or disagree. So he simply gave a small nod in understanding instead. "I'll take your word on it. This is a lovely lake too. Often times very populated with fish." his tail swayed slowly behind him, as his wings pulled tight to his back, ears twitching from the trill the flute made. "Do you often keep to yourself then?" he asked slowly, raising a brow at the other man.. still a little butt hurt on being ignored earlier.

Jinx: ((Probably XD I think of him in a lot of blues, so that's probably where my mistake came from. Ah well, pretend it was a typo; he'd still find the black hair fascinating and want to make a song on it. Also Lorik's jealously would amuse Sho. The whole thing already amuses me. I do hope they become friends : ) ))

Sho: "Fairly often," he responded, trying to keep very still as he felt the little beak running through his feathers. "I have something of a large family, and like my father I'm usually not inclined to practice in front of others." His mouth tightened a little. The subject still brought up bad memories of the orphanage, how often he was ignored or ridiculed when he played for knowing only a single long.

His eyes had drifted to the lake as he unwillingly went down the sucky side of memory lane, but now he moved his gaze back to Lorik. "What about yourself, you hear often?" He gave the god's hair and outfit another look. "You seem both practically and unpractically attired to traipse around the woods." He had to make a face as soon as he said that; he was one to talk about unpractical woodland attire, sitting there in a shinto priest style of kimono. Long hair could be tied back a lot easier than long clothes.

Musica: { no worries, they've got lots of blue in the fam. hah, Lori gets jelly easy. like with all the attention his new niece and nephews are getting. cx }

Lorik: "I see." was all he replied with, not really showing any opinion on the matter. He had a large family as well... that had just grown only recently. Goodness, was he the only one in his family not in love and making babies constantly? sighing mentally, he shook his head again in a tired sort of way. Such a thought was hardly fathomable. Especially for a man with such high expectations and standards as himself. A hand rose to idly fiddle with his ponytail again, lacing it back through his elegant fingers.

"sometimes, yes. I frequent this lake more than the others, due to how vast and expanssive it is. As well as the chance of something entertaining occuring.. but... I am usually disappointed in that aspect. Not much goes on out... here.." his tail gave a light flick to indicate their surroundings. An ear twitched when his clothes were paid mind to, crooking a brow at the opposing god. Glancing down at his rather feminine attire, he pursed his lips some, "It's quite comfortable, and looks very appealing on my figure. I may stand out, but... that's not a problem for me." a slightly smug expression shifted on his features. "But I do not venture deep into the woods often, since it can be quite difficult to fly on the spot in such densely forested places." after all, they did have rather large wings.

Jinx: ((XD Babies have that effect. Which makes me giggle a bit at the thought of him having kids. It's like being the center of attention, but not the main attraction.))

Sho: "They do, ah...drape, very nicely," he replied, stuttering a little over the compliment since the things weren't all that commonly coming out of his mouth. The outfit the god wore was a bit more modest when he was still, but Sho could easily see how something like movement or a gentle breeze could easily change subtle hints to blatent statments. His own clothing was a bit too layered and thick a weave to give off anything more than a vague impression. It made him feel graceful and flowing and very musical though, and it wasn't like he was looking to show off his body anyway. It did nicely accentuate his broad shoulders, and that was good enough for him!

"I suppose that's another reason why I prefer lakes, though I hadn't thought about it 'til now," he said, shoulders moving in an automatic shrug. "Forests are nice to play in on occasion, but only if you feel like walking out or climbing up later on." As he spoke his fingers were moving constantly, slowing sliding up and down the flute into different note fingerings. It was a nervous habit he never seemed to be able to break. He cocked his head to the side. "So how often does anything entertaining ever happen around here?"

Musica: { he probably won't be wanting or having kids for a loooooooooooooooooong time, if at all. not that he doesn't like them, it's just not something he's interested in at the moment. }

Lorik: He glanced down at himself once more, "Well of course. I wouldn't wear something that doesn't suit me. That would simply be foolish~" he gives a light chuckle, as if such an idea was a fantastic joke of sorts. The end of it hit just at his knee's, where golden laced sandals crawled along his calves. "Though I am not opposed to various styles, this one is just a favorite, I suppose you could say." he concluded with, other hand stroking the rich fabric that was laid over a single shoulder.

Glancing at Greyson, who was still busy at work preening and picking out loose pink feathers, he listened to the other man speak, but found his eyes wandering off. Solitude was nice and all from time to time, but he'd had enough of it. With a question presented again, he hummed a single low tone in thought, "Very, very rarely." he replied, a sort of deflated expression now on his features, "I feel as if I am doomed to be bored on this planet." he sighs, shifting his weight, "I've thought of venturing out to some place that is more lively and active. Where I can actually have a conversation with someone and engage in entertaining activity's with."

Sho: A gentle breeze choose that moment to sweep past and ruffle hair and clothing; several pieces of pale pink fluff drifted past, and Sho reached out and nimbly caught one before it could tumble out of reach. He was impressed at how quickly the quail seemed to work, that or he'd really been neglecting his wings of late. He shot Lorik an amused glance. Proud as a peacock was of his plumage, that one seemed. In a sense that was refreshing; beautiful or talented people who acted like their assets were of no consequence freaked him out just a little. He'd rather deal with strutting then demuring.

"Foolish indeed," he agreed mildly, letting the breeze snatch the bit of fluff out of his fingers. Then, feeling a bit impish, he added, "But with your coloring and physique, I don't image there are many styles you can't pull off."

Lorik: The little quail perked up again as the wind started taking off with the loose feathers, watching them with curiously blinking eyes, especially when Sho snatched one from escaping. Blinking up at the other god, he scurried to move further into the pink wings, to groom the next section.

Pleased that the other god agreed, he grinned a little bit, and gave a nod of confirmation. Well Sho seemed to be redeeming himself a little bit with Lori's earlier disgruntlement towards him. Glancing at his own fair skin tone, and his dark hair, he supposed the other man was right. "Asides from pastels. I do not think they would compliment my pale complexion. The would surely wash me out." Stretching out his wings, his arms followed, reaching upwards, giving a little sigh again, "Well.. Sho." his head canted lightly, "would you be interested in accompanying me on a walk. I grow restless from bordum, and seek to find another area for possible enjoyment. You are free to join me if you would like. I have decided you are pleasant enough."

Sho: "I don't think hardly anyone could look good in pastels; it's too easy to overdo and become like a painted egg." It would probably work as a trim though, if his main outfit was a darker version of the same color group. Then again he could be wrong; fashion had never been his forte.

The offer Lorik made surprised him. He wasn't sure a single compliment would be enough to qualify him as interesting enough to be a walking companion. Well, maybe it was something else he'd done. He wasn't exactly an expert at knowing what did and did not count as interesting, and since that answer was different for every person he was fairly certain there was no such thing as a true expert. "I suppose a walk would be interesting, since I was distracted from practicing at the moment," he responded. "Er, I've never had someone else groom my wings. How do I get your friend out of there without hurting him?" The little quail was pressed up against the feathers and pretty well into them; Sho didn't want to tumble him around and hurting him by moving at a bad time.

Lorik: That got a laugh out of Lori, "Yes, quite right. Perhaps a light blue would be alright, thuogh." he started really pondering on this, imagining the various light shades of sky blue that would look nice on him... then again it could very well clash with the teal of his wings..

Any matter, he looked to the busy quail, once again his expression turning flat. He bent at his waist, an extended both arms to place on either side of the plump bird, extracting him from the depths of the other mans wings. Pulling Greyson close to his chest, he let one arm hold and support him, while the other let a dainty hand stroke along the back of the bird, sometimes venturing to the cute little plume and smooth head as well, "There we go. Now. Shall we?" he asked, turning to start on their way, Greyson making a cute little sound as he was caressed, eyes closing contently, and feathers fluffing gently as he got comfy in his masters arms.

Sho: He stood and shook out his wings, making his own body shake and sending a small shower of loose feathers to drift down on his rock where they were lightly swept away onto the lake, floating. If he was the poetic type he'd probably liken it to cherry blossoms just on the color, which internally made him snort. That was just waaay more sensitive than he cared to admit to, even to himself! He tucked his flute back in its internal pocket and jumped off the rock with a fluttering of sleeves, lightly shaking them out and arranging them comfortably. The forest didn't seem too bad in this spot, but if this got snag-y he had inner ties worked in so he could keep them in one piece.

"The little one has no shame," Sho commented, seeing how Greyson sat happily in Lorik's arms. "Has he always been like that, or did he learn it from somewhere?"

Lorik: He walked along the side of the lake, allowing them to enjoy the last of it before entering into the woods. Little Greyson calmed down considerably from the affection, make soft little churring sounds, lulled into a state of calm relaxation. Lori's bright icy eyes flickered over to the other god at his question, chuckling once more, a slightly smug expression shifting on his lips, "Well... perhaps a mixture of both, I'd say." there was a hint of pride in his tone, not too much to be cocky... but very evident that he was rather glad that some of his own mannerisms rubbed off on the little bird. "But at least he is truthful, at that. I can respect that." his head turned to look up to Sho, "Well then, tell me more about yourself, what you do, and the like~" he figured that'd be a good way to pass the time. Some decent conversation.

Sho: He chuckled softly under his breath. He had to admit, it was an interesting quality in people that he did prefer. Perhaps because the trait was so easy to understand, less alien and frightening to him. "That seems unfair to me," he said, brushing a few strands of hair behind his ear. "I'm more give-and-take than all out. What would you say to an information swap? I ask something, then you ask something, and so forth?"

Sho: -Flies in gracefully and lands, folding his wings against his back and looking around. Only bowls and a few adults in here tonight. Good. It was nice to get away from his cousins for a little bit.-

Lorik: *grooming his wings, plucking out some of the loose feathers with a heavy sigh. Molting was always such an arduous task, and often took way longer than he desired. He looked up from his outstretched wing though as Sho suddenly appeared, regarding the other god with a curious look* Oh, hello Sho~

Sho: -His head swiveled in surprised; he hadn't spotted the other god in his scan of the room. How could he have missed him? Maybe he'd just now appeared, somehow.- Ah, hello Lorik. -Walks over at a sedate pace, noting the little puffs of feathers about.- Greyson at work again?

Lorik: *he gave a sigh, and shook his head* No, unfortunately not. He's off eating, goodness know's where. *his eyes rolled with exasperation.* so I am to do all my grooming on my own~ |T It can be such a hassle sometimes.

Sho: You're not worried he'll get into trouble on his own? He seemed eternally curious to me. -He viably hesitated for a moment, the reached out and began working on the spots Lorik couldn't reach on his own, touch light and gentle and ready to withdraw at a single expression of displeasure.- I envy my dad and his wings sometimes. He never has to go through molt.

Lorik: *he waved a paw in dismissal on the matter of the quail* Oh he is very prone to getting himself into trouble. But he can just as well get himself out of it. You would be surprised. But he is capable of handling himself, even if he is quite the ditsy little bird. *he glanced over his shoulder as the assistance was given, a light smile of approval on his features. Ears twitching, he stretched out his wing a little more to get into smaller crevices* Oh? a god without wings? now that is something I have not heard of.

Sho: -Flushes, but his paws don't falter.- My dad isn't a god. He's a demonic, minus the horns. They don't appear to be a dominant trait in the family.

Lorik: *he looked back over his shoulder to stare at Sho with a confused expression... before things started to click. Ah. Now he understood. Nodding slowly, he went back to primping his wing* I have a few nephews and nieces who have rather strong demonic traits. As well as angelic, of course. It's quite intriguing~

Sho: -Relaxes a little when Lorik doesn't question it. Shifts his paws to a new section of the wing he couldn't reach until Lorik spread them, tiny bits of loose feathers drifting to the floor.- It's mostly demonic with my family, though recently I got some cousins with kirin blood. They're handfuls, or at least one it. I frequently remind myself not to drop him in a lake. -Gives Lorik a curious look.- Anything new with you? The new additions to your family must be grown by now.

Lorik: *such a joke earns a chuckle from the blue god* I am not so good with dealing with youths, admitingly. That's more of my sister's departments. *he grins. Inspecting his wing that's being tended to so far, he gives another heavy sigh* nothing new for me at all, unfortunately. But yes, they are all grown now, and off doing... goodness knows. What of you, Sho?

Sho: -He favored Lorik with a half-smile.- Not a whole lot, other than the occasional bout of baby-tending. I've learned several new songs, and even tried my hand at making up one of my own. -He made a face which could have been an opinion of his song; it could also have been because a bit of fluff decided to attack his nose and he was trying hard to dislodge it without sneezing.-

Lorik: *he chuckled and shook his head* I do not envy you, my friend. That sounds like something I would not enjoy at all. *children... not something he was too big a fan on. Didn't dislike them but...* New songs, hm? well you have been busy then~ *he stretched his wing back and forth* How's it looking so far?

Sho: -Combs his fingers lightly through the feathers of the wing he was working on. Nothing else fell lose.- This one's done. You did a pretty good job on your own. -Starts working on the hard-to-reach-places of the other wing. His own wings itched in sympathy as he worked, but knew grooming felt good and Lorik's wings would feel a lot better once they were done.- It's not so bad when they're really little. I prefer talking to bowls, personally. As kits they have more energy than I wish to deal with for the most part. Thankfully my grandma is more than willing to roll around with them, and I tend to go pretty far out to practice my music, as you might remember. -Finishes the second wing. It was a lot further along than the first one, so didn't take as long.- There, that should do it, I think.

Lorik: Ah thank you Sho~ *he flexes said wing a few times feeling quite relieved of the burden of unwanted feathers. Fluffing it a few times, he folds it against his back while the second is moved onto, stretching that one as far as possible. He listened to Sho's own opinion on youngsters, pursing his lips slightly as if thinking more on the matter. But in the end he simply gave a light shrug* I wouldn't know what to talk to them about. They don't seem to know much, but I suppose that is to be expected. *he gives a subtle nod, getting a few feathers pulled out that are tucked underneath the bone.* don't you ever yearn for the company of others to converse with though, Sho? I know I certainly do. *he gives a heavy sigh* but I am usually left to being my own company.

Sho: Well they tend to be the ones making most of the conversation, so I just have to prompt them. They might not know much, but they usually seem to have plenty to say. -He sighed and settled back, giving Lorik to arrange his wings to his liking.- Frankly speaking, I think I have the makings of a hermit. I'm fine with being on my own with the little company I sporadically seem to run in to. I guess there are moments though, when I find myself glad to run into another.

Lorik: *he doesn't seem too swayed on the matter. His wings stretch once more before fluffing themselves and settling for good, tucking against one another.* Hm, well I can't say I blame you. I suppose that would make me one as well, unintentionally, that is. But there's certainly nothing wrong with it. *Gives a matter-of-fact nod* Though I do enjoy attention so... I don't know if could go for too long on my own either. *taps his chin in thought, head canting slightly.* what a predicament.

Sho: -Cracks a grin and even chuckles quietly in his chest.- Yes, as a grumpy and tempermental musician I suppose a lot of people are more social than I am. How unfortunate that one so loving of attention as yourself should have to have one so indifferent to attention as me to stumble upon you.

Lorik: *ears twitching, he glances to Sho and shakes his head, a paw waving again* Oh not to worry, Sho. You are pleasant enough. I'm sure my sisters will give me more than enough attention now, since the little one's are grown now. *puffs up a little* they do so enjoy smothering me with affection~ *he chuckled, but seemed pleased*

Sho: -Shrugs.- Well you make it very easy for you to be fussed over. Some people are obnoxious about it. -He rolled his eyes, silently expressing his opinion on such people.-

Lorik: *grins, and lightly primps his hair* well.. not everyone has class, my dear friend. They stoop to lower level's to gain the attention they desire. It's a shame, really~

Sho: -Grumbles.- It's not a shame, it's an annoyance. Gives me great joy to annoy those types by doing what I do naturally and completely ignoring their existance. -Glances at Lorik, smiles a little at his primping.- I tolerate you because you have intelligent and relevant things to say.

Lorik: *his grin spreads with amusement, a light chuckle lifting from his chest* Oh that does sound quite entertaining to see. I'm sure that surely gets them quite tiffed. You certainly don't mind ruffling feathers, do you Sho? *smoothing his two toned bangs, he puffs up a little more, pleased by the praise* well then I suppose I should feel honored, hm? *he mused.*

Sho: -Returns the grin.- You could say I've made an art form of it. Feather-ruffling appears to be a by-product of my personality. And on that note I would say yes, you should feel honored. My opinions on others are rarely flattering. -He tilted his head, a single eyebrow lifting and hint of wry humor about his smile.- You do that on purpose don't you? Fluff up like that, I mean.

Lorik: You are too kind, Sho~ *he hummed playfully. A paw stroked down the fluffy fur on his chest, smoothing it, and primping it as well, ears twitching as he glanced to the other god. Smirking, he tipped his head* well yes. I do like to look my best, after all~ and when my ego's stroked, well how can I not? *he chuckles*

Sho: -Shakes his head, but the smile still lingers.- You look like Greyson when he's all puffed up and looking his most innocent and cute. It's almost uncanny.

Lorik: *he laughs lightly, place a paw to his mouth* well, Greyson probably learned such a habit from me. *his smile turns smug* though he is more a troublemaker than innocent.

Sho: -Short laugh.- It makes sense. Kids do that to. The reasoning behind it, I figure, is that it's harder to be mad at something that looks cute so they get away with more. -His lips quirked into another wry smile.- It's why I never got into a ton of trouble as a kid, though now I avoid it simply by not caring if someone's mad at me or not.

Lorik: ah yes~ I was easily able to get out of trouble. But.. I didn't get into much. *curls his long tail around himself, smoothing a paw along it* but your new method works just as well. Perhaps even better. *he chuckles*

Sho: I didn't either. I understand I was quite mouthy. -tosses his bangs out of his eyes, grinning a bit.- Seems like some things don't change. What about you, what were you like as a baby?

Lorik: hmm.. well I suppose I was a lot like what I am today. But I don't really recall all too much. I guess my sisters and parents would have a better gauge at that sort of thing. *he pauses to think, but then shrugs* But such things don't really matter, I suppose~ I'm not a child anymore, after all. *he chuckles*

Sho: -Considers that and face darkens for a moment remembering the first half of his childhood.- You're right, things like that don't really matter much anymore. -Shakes his head the tinest bit as if to learn it, refocusing on Lorik.- So, oh fluffy and well-groomed one, what's your favorite form of attention?

Lorik: *pressing at a spot on his tail that doesn't seem to want to lay uniformly, he frowns slightly, huffing softly even. Sho's question makes him glance over though with a raised brow* well, the good kind, of course. None of that degrading, and bullying sort of stuff. *he shakes his head with a mild frown, combing at the rebellious fur with a firmer touch* I don't see how anyone could like that sort of attention anyway.

Sho: -Frowns a little, not as though annoyed but more as in going through his memories and thinking.- Some people can't get the good kind of attention, so they take whatever kind of attention they can. It's better than being a nonentity of no consequence. Or maybe some people are just odd, who knows.

Lorik: *he tsk's lightly, shaking his head in disappointment* ah but I am not desperate, nor so much of a simpleton to demote myself to such attention. I only desire the genuine and true. Anything else is simply.. noise, wouldn't you say?

Sho: -Silent for a few moments.- I don't think it's something you can definitively use an absolute with. There's too many variables, and you can't know for sure unless you've been there. People can surprise even themselves with what they'll do in their highs and lows.

Lorik: *keeps his paw pressed on the trouble spot, staring at it with a firm expression as if saying 'you better stay in place, fur!'. He gave a shrug to Sho, and hummed in thought* I still think it's ridiculous~ *he finally replied with a smile* only the good kind for me~

Sho: -There's a touch of melancholy about his smile.- I never said it wasn't. Life's not always ideal, though. -Changes subject, this is getting too depressing for him.- Having issues with your fur? That's why I go for the ruffled look; so much less matienance involved!

Lorik: *he just shrugs again, not really bothered by the subject. that was an obvious observation after all. Frowning at his tail, he huffed again* yes, it tends to get this way from time to time, even when I brush it out.

Sho: Perhaps it's naturally wavy fur then. There's almost always bits that stick up here and there no matter how hard you try, with that type.

Lorik: *lifts his paw... the fur staying down for probably five seconds before popping back up, making him sigh heavily* perhaps you're right. It's always this one little spot, too.

Sho: -Shrugs- It doesn't look bad. The occasional wave or curl here and there can be good accentuations.

Lorik: Hmmm.. that's true. *he gave one more stroke to the curly area before leaving it be* So Sho. Let me ask you something. Since your parents aren't gods, you probably don't have any pressure from them to pair with another deity, do you?

Sho: -His face briefly spasmed into a mask of some undefinable emotion.- I doubt my biological donors give a damn about me. It's just me, Dad, and his family. "Pairing" up isn't something any of them pressure anyone about, to me or anyone else in the family.

Lorik: *he gives a nod of approval, smiling lightly* ah that's very good to hear. My poor sister, you see, has paired with a halfbreed as you can tell. Our father is very old school, and doesn't agree with her choice of mate. *he gives a soft sigh and head shake* the silly old man~ I'm convinced he'll come around one of these days.

Sho: -Shrugs.- Unless someone's being mistreated, I don't think anyone has a right to go sticking their nose in. -Sighs, shuffles his wings on his back. He was feeling irritated, which made him feel twitchy, like he had an all-over itch.-

Lorik: *raises a brow and watches Sho and his odd antic's, ears folding back a little* Yes, of course.

Sho: -Notices the raised brow, tries to quit fidgeting.- Sorry. I just don't like talking about those kind of things. It's a touchy subject for me, not entirely comfortable with it.

Lorik: Oh uhm, alright then. *flicks the tip of his tail* well then I think you should pick our next topic~

Sho: -Wracks his brain for a new topic.- What kind of hobbies do you have? You already know I spend most of my free time playing the flute, what do you do?

Lorik: well, my family is a big part of my life. I see them quite often, and spend time with them, thought mostly my littermate, though not as much anymore. Or I go for long walks... very long walks, and flights in search of things that may catch my interest. Or sleep for long periods of time... *he pauses, pursing his lips* I suppose I am mostly just bored most of the time. *he chuckles* Nothing spectacular or amiable as your musical talent.

Sho: Was there ever any hobby you wanted to take up, or did nothing catch your interest?

Lorik: *he quietly thinks over this question, eyes falling down to his tail once more* Well, I suppose I just never could find something that greatly interested me. I'm still looking for it I guess you could say. *he thinks some more* And I suppose I'm not specifically good at anything in particular. Besides perhaps grooming and making sure I look presentable. *he chuckled*

Sho: What about learning to craft? You know, making accessories or clothing. Something you custom made that shows you off even more than you already do. -A tiny smile twitched at the corners of his mouth, though he honestly wasn't teasing his friend.-

Lorik: Well say now... there's a good idea. *his smile spread along his face to show his clear delight* my father did give me a few of his accessories, after all~ *his head turned this way and that to show off his earrings, a paw lifting too to brush along them, as well as show off the bracelets he was sporting too* I could definitely see myself doing something like that~

Sho: -He had to hold back a chuckle, lest he accidently hurt Lorik's feelings. Though he considered the male a friend the relationship was still too new for him to know where Lorik drew his lines, and, besides, even long-time friends could sometimes get into misunderstandings.- I could certainly picture it as well, else I wouldn't have suggested it. -Though far from caring about being fashionable, Sho did at least try to make sure anything he might have donned at least didn't clash in colors. He was all whites and pale pinks, so golden metals and warmer colors worked best with him. Lorik was pretty much opposite of him in a lot of ways, though they'd have been more opposite if Sho's pinks were more orange. Silvers would probably complement him best, and indeed the jewelry he showed off was, if not actual silver, at least close to that color. But while he thought silver would probably be a better metal choice, Sho found himself thinking that a red or orange gem would pop nicely against all the blue and black. Not a lot of it, but a touch here or there could make a nice contrast. For all his speculation though, all he said was...- It'll be interesting to see what you come up with.

Lorik: *letting his paw brush along his earrings and cause them to chime, he hummed blissfully, eyes closing as he tried to imagine other sorts of pieces that might look nice on him; somewhat following the same line of thought as Sho* I'm sure my sisters would enjoy some nice jewelry pieces too. I gave my littermate one of my bracelets when we were young. She seemed to enjoy that quite a bit. *he chuckled. He gave Sho a once over, pursing his lips in thought* and what of you, Sho? are you the accessory type?

Sho: N-... -About to deny it, then stops and thinks for a minute. It wasn't like he wore much beyond the chaplet of jewels that all gods had, but every now and then when he wanted to lend an extra bit of elegance to his person, he would don the odd bracelet or earring.- Sometimes I wear them. Not enough to really be considered a type though, I would imagine.

Lorik: *he gave a pleased little nod, and a final brush to his earrings* well then, I shall make something for you too, Sho~ what do you typically like. Earrings, bracelets, circlets, necklaces, bangles, rings, you name it~

Sho: -His face flushed a light crimson, but he quickly beat it back. He still wasn't used to the concept of gifts, and the blushing was an automatic reaction he hoped to someday completely snuff.- Ah, bracelets, and sometimes I'll ear an earring. I've tried wearing other stuff before, but it just felt like way too much for my comfort. I guess I prefer accessories to be a complimenting component rather than a main feature.

Lorik: *he looked to Sho's wrists, and then ears, making mental images of a piece of metal and possible gem hanging out there.* I can see that. Small accents seem to be something you'd like. *he chuckled* oh.. but I'll have to figure out how to actually make these things. *he rubbed at his chin* doesn't seem too hard to do though. Putting little pieces of metal together. You can be my first test to see if they turn out right. *he decided with a grin*

Sho: -Lorik's words elicit a chuckle from him.- You mean I'm the guiena pig for your first pieces while you're getting the hang of things, before you make anything for yourself. -Teasing tone in his voice.-

Lorik: *smirks a little, and looks off with faux innocence* well... I suppose you could put it that way, if you wanted to. I could always have Greyson do it if you're not up to the challenge. *he mused*

Sho: -Imagines the little grey feather ball decked out in so much jewelry he can't even move and starts cracking up. Manages to speak through his mirth.- You wouldn't! Oh, he'd either love it or pull your feathers out for doing that to him!

Lorik: *he chuckles and gives a shake of his head* Oh he will endure it, to be sure. But he doesn't have any ears, so earrings may pose an issue. Same for bracelets. *he grins* If you look at it this way, if you volunteer for me, then you'll get so many nice things once I get to be really good at it.

Sho: -Chuckles a little more.- I think I'm more a woodlark than a peacock, so you can't tempt me with baubles! -Glances to the side for a moment, gathering his thoughts back up, then looks back to Lorik.- I don't mind helping you get started, though.

Lorik: Well that's alright. I'll... *he looks around, as if searching for an answer... before perking his ears* I can make you something for your flute, hm? a little.. ring to put on it, maybe? or... a tiny dangly? *with Sho's consent, he gave a bright smile, and puffed himself up* I thank you, kind sir. I won't bother you too much. I know you are a busy man.

Sho: -His head tilted the slightest bit.- You mean I'm out in the wilderness all the time, blowing into a piece of metal or wood. -A corner of his mouth picked up in a crooked smile, wry humor returning to his face.- I can certainly always decorate one of my flutes. Perhaps one of my more ornamental ones. They all function perfectly, of course, but they're a bit... Pulling one of those out for everyday practice would be like wearing formalwear to a barbeque. Overkill. They're performance pieces. When you think you've got the technique down, I can let you borrow one for measurements and to make sure it fits right.

Lorik: *he gave another hearty chuckle, nodding* Ah yes that is very true! Definitely a good point. Probably a big reason why I'm stuck grooming for such long extent of time. *he grins... though doesn't seem to mind that latter fact*

Sho: -Nods, keeping his face straight.- And tromping through forests or flying tends to muss up the fur! -Chuckles quietly.- In seriousness, I'm glad we found something to peak your interest. Having a hobby is nice.

Lorik: *he gave another hearty chuckle, nodding* Ah yes that is very true! Definitely a good point. Probably a big reason why I'm stuck grooming for such long extent of time. *he grins... though doesn't seem to mind that latter fact*

Sho: -Snorts.- Liar. I've never seen you look less than immaculate.

Lorik: *he grins, and wears a rather proud expression* Well... though my mother was kind enough to grace me with her beauty, it does take a little effort to pull off this look. As you could see earlier. *glancing to Sho's wings, he gives them a curious eyeing* have yours not begun to molt yet?

Sho: -Shrugs the giant, fluffy pink, limbs on his back.- Mine's already over. I dunno if Greyson pulled out the one feather holding everything in, but it was after I got home later that day that it just started raining feathers. -Makes a face.- My grandma said something about making new pillows and blankets for the whole household. I don't think she was completely joking.

Lorik: *typical Greyson. He really wasn't too surprised. Shaking his head though, he gave a playful roll of his eyes* I always tell that bird he needs to finish what he starts. *a sigh is given.* well that's certainly a creative way to make use of old feathers.

Sho: -He muttered something, most of it inaudible, but enough was clear that you could get the gist of it. Sometime about a pillow appearing the day after his molt had finished. He looked back up and resumed a normal tone of voice.- You'd have never found him again if he'd have completely groomed both of my wings that day. He'd be burried somewhere under a mound of fluff.

Lorik: *his head tips in contemplation on such a notion, eventually nodding in agreement* Ah well. At least now our new feathers will have plenty of room to grow~ *he stretches out his freshly preened appendages with a pleased expression*

Sho: -Sitting in his workroom in the house for once rather than out in the wilderness somewhere practicing. The gentle rasp of metal on metal indicated the god was working on another one of his flutes. He carefully engraved graceful sworls and whirls on the metal, laying down the bones of a new pattern.-

Req: Slowly, his door opened and he ventured out of his room. Heading down the hall, he made his way for the back stairs that brought him coming past the work room. He was heading for the kitchen to get some more snack to hold him over till his next trip out. He, looking worse for wear, he hadn't been sleeping much these days. Of course when every dead within a mile seemed to flock to you, it made sleeping or trying to sleep a horrific ordeal.

Sho: -He heard the door open and tilted his head, listening. It wasn't Dad; he was out practicing somewhere. Serenade had her own place so while she was still pretty much a part of the household she didn't live in the "main" house. Tempo and Harmony lived elsewhere, as did Tempo's brood. For which he was profoundly grateful, though Rakesh loved coming over to bother family. It could have been Cadence or Lyric, but they made more noise as they moved about. Could only be one other person.- Hey Req, care to stop in for a moment after you get your snack? I want your opinion. -His uncle didn't chat a whole lot, but it was good for him to get some time with people so he didn't go feral.-

Req: Hearing his name, he poked his head in where his nephew was busily working and gave a small nod. Casting a look to one more unseen body, he gave a small nod before going into the kitchen and getting his snacks. He returned nibbling on a sandwich, the rest of his snacks in a smll bag he'd carried down with him.

Sho: -His hands moved steading, first etching the pattern into the flute body. They were little more than scratches, visible but so light that if he had to he could buff them out or perhaps work in something over them. He'd only ever had to do that once though; after that he drew his ideas out on paper until he was certain of what he wanted, and started with all the basic stuff; details could be added in later, in case he decided to change the design. He held it up for Req to inspect; the sworls and curving lines had the look of a plain vine.- What do you think? I was going to go with something simple, just a vine and leaves. Maybe I should add one or two more things though, just for effect. Any thoughts?

Req: Req looked the flute over careful not to get any of the sandwich on it. He pondered what could be added before nodding. His voice was soft. Barely and audible whisper. "Maybe a bird"

Sho: -He looked the flute over. There /was/ a spot in his carvings that he'd been planning to put a few leaves in that held enough room, if he took out most of the leaves.- Hmmm. Yes, that might work. Something more wren-like or hummingbird? Both are good for decoration, though I admit the hummingbird it seen more in garden decoration.

Req: Req thought a moemtn longer before shaking his head. "Lark." He cast another woefull look to the side cringing a moment and shutting his eyes tight as if it would help to block what had just 'walked' into his sight.

Sho: Hmmm. -Starts carefully etching the outline of a bird in flight on the metal, a miniscule piece that would take him time to finish but would be amazingly detailed when the flute was finally finished. Without looking up...- Dead still bothering you, Uncle?

Req: He gave a sorrow fun nod. "Mmm." It was the only sound he made to let the other know he'd hit the nail on the head with his guess. "They never leave.."

Sho: -He sharply exhaled, a sound that wasn't quite a snort, sigh, or disgruntlement, but rather an odd combination of the three.- Inconvenient little buggers. Have you asked Sera if she can help? All the times she's threatened to curse your brother-in-law, surely she can do something to keep spirits away. Even if it's just to ward the house, or even your room. I don't know how you deal with it, I'd have snapped and started lecturing them for bad manners by now.

Req: Requiem frowned some. "Lecturing doesn't help them.. they still show up..." He thought about his elder sister and gave a small shrug. "I don't know if Sera can help in this to be honest."

Sho: -He paused in his carvings to scratch his nose, then resumed.- Well I don't think she could make a hoodoo dumpling that would keep the dead out if you were actually summoning them, but if they're here just to hang around then she should be able to make something to help for the everyday when you don't want them around. -He blew on the flute, a few metal shavings falling off, and held it up for inspection.- What do you think? -Lightly etched but visible was the outline of a teeny wren; you could see the shape of its body, it's outstretched wings, and part of its head and tail.-

Req: "It looks great..." He paused further. "I don't summon them. they just want me to lay them to rest... I just... don't see how or why..." He looked frustrated with himself. All his time growing up and he still hadn't figured out how /he/ could lay the dead to rest.

Sho: -Looks at Req, the flute and carving tools in his hands.- Seriously, go to Sera. Even if she can't make something strong enough to keep them away forever, you could use a few nights at the least to catch up on rest. -Looks back down at the flute and resumes etching more of the wren.- As for how you can lay the dead to rest, I'm not sure. I can sense them in I really try, but that's about the extent of it. I can't communicate with them to ask. Grandma is all about plant and music magic. If plant magic is how you lay them to rest Sera could do that, so maybe it's music magic. -Blows away more metal shavings, looks sideways at Req from the corner of his eye.- If that's not the key, talk to Grandpa. There's gotta be something in the family history that can give you a hint of what to do. -Reaches out a hand and gently ruffles his uncle's hair.- If you don't I will; seriously, when's the last time you slept, Unc?

Req: He gave a small shrug. "I forget.. It's hard to sleep when the dead plays creeper.." He knew his nephew was right. He needed the sleep even if it was only for a little bit to catch up on when he'd lost. The look in his eyes was enough to suggest he'd been without sleep for quite some time. "I think.. I'll contact sera... You might be right about the music.. but.. "He shuffled his feet. "I don't like singing infront of them.. they're creepy.."

Sho: Close your eyes? I dunno, maybe Dad can offer advice there. He doesn't like singing in front of /anyone/, dead or alive. I think I'm the only exception to that, and that's only cause my own music resonated with him. -Scratches a couple more marks into the metal.- You can sleep down here, you know, if it helps having someone around. -He gave a half-smile.- I'm usually not too loud when I'm working.

Req: He looked around, finishing his sandwich. Sho's fluffy tail had always been a afe haven for him away from the dead. Nodding, he made his way to his nephew's tail and proceeded to tuck himself up into it. He was much bigger now making the attempt a bit silly looking but.. if it would help him sleep he'd try anything.

Sho: -He nearly laughed. As funny and adorable as it was to watch a kit practically vanish into fur, it was even more so to watch an adult try to vanish into the same mound of fur; it was like a cat making a nest. Not that there wasn't a lot of tail to go around; an adult's tail was as long as their bodies, maybe even a bit longer, and so fluffy that curled up with their own tails they could look like mounds of puff. Sho's tail was a long and half again as his body, and from what he'd seen that was common of the god species. And their size... as a kit he'd been the same size as his adult father. As an adult, he was almost three times that size. That was more than enough tail to make a comfortable nest for Requiem. As he settled down he extended his large, pale rose-colored downy wings and cupped them, forming a sketchy roof and walls around Requiem while he went back to his carving.-

Req: He let out a small sigh of relief. For some reason the dead didn't seem so keen on trying to get too close to the god for now. This allowed him some form of peace and quiet to relax with. The walls and roof of his nephew's wings wer welcomed. they provided him a warm cacoon even though the tail had been ample enough cacoon for him. they also sheilded his eyes from the spirits that had plagued him.

Lyric: *Making his way from the garden, he blinked at the raised voices before making his way into the work room.* He finally came out for another snack ,eh?

Sho: -Adds more detail to the vine, marking in a few of the beginnings of leaves.- Yea, and he's about on his last leg. -Glances up.- I wanna talk to you about that later.

Lyric: *Frowns some* He has been a troubled sort for most his life.. the poor lamb...

Sho: Yea, I'm trying to figure where that comes from and how he can sort it out. Can't go on like this, I'm not around often enough for him to only sleep in my tail.

Lyric: *Frowns deeper his brow furrowing some* Truthfully. It's been troubling me too... His grand father use to have moments like that... but he refused to speak of it. though he was prone to mumbling in his sleep AFTER these sort of ordeals... *Lightbulb* I am hoping he didn't pass this on to Req...

Sho: And you don't get any spells like that. Even ones as a kid that just faded away?

Lyric: Me? No.. All I got was a decent singing voice like my mother...

Sho: -Actually glowers a little at his grandfather.- Well you need to figure it out, cause /I/ don't know anything about your parents. Your youngest son is barely eating and sleeping; we don't figure this out, you might go back to having just /one/ son.

Lyric: I've been searching through family records trying to figure out a cause... * Another light bulb moment* Wait one moment... *Turns leaving through the door walking into his study only to return with two rather large leather bound books.* Why didn't I think of this before??

Req: *Stirrs slightly only give a sneeze fron the tickling of fur on his nose. Other wise he slipped easily back into his nap with little a word.*

Sho: -Stared after Lyric as he left the room then resumed his etching, only to look up again when Lyric returned with the books. He cast the male a bemuse look.- What, you'll bore the ghosts to death with old stories?

Lyric: *Giving a snort he shook his head.* Not stories pup.. but these books do hold some information that MIGHT help us help Req.... *Sitting a book down, he opened it up following one branch of his father's family till there it was.. the rout of it. A woman who's onte under her said it all she was accused of raising the spirits and put to death though she swore she'd been plagued by them long before a town had.* Her.. maybe she was the first? It's possible that My father had obtained it from her... my gran didn't have it.. so.. maybe just MAYBE it's a trait that only seems to skip a generation which would explain why I wasn't effected by it...

Sho: -Sighs and puts the flute down on a little stand, replacing the etching tool on the table.- What good does that do us? We already know Req /sees/ spirits. Unless it tells you how any of your ancestors got /rid/ of the things, those books /are/ pretty much nothing but stories. -shakes bangs out of his eyes, tapping fingers on the counter.- Even I know there's herbs and things you can use to repel spirits, which Sera probably knows even more about and could probably make something to help. But the way they keep flocking, I don't think she can make a permanent solution, which is what we need.

Lyric: *His face screwed up as he looked down the line further.* Looks like just one managed to do it.... *He pointed at another name on the list. Surprisingly the name was one he knew most well. His great grand father.* There's a tiny scribbling here I can't quite make out.. Sho? *he flipped the book to where the tiny words inscribing 'Music sooths all' were scribbled in small lettering to his grandson*

Sho: -He peered down at the small print, fingers snagging a magnifying lens he used for his especially tiny details and gave the paper a glance.- Music soothes all. -He shrugged, though inside his mind was turning the information over.- No history of music magic in your family as well, is there?

Lyric: Not from what I've been told.. but that doesn't mean that My father didn't try to burry things... As much as he tried to hide /this/ *he motioned to where his son was sleeping.* Sort of ability... it's possible that he left out other things..

Sho: -He shrugged again.- It was just a thought. Music magic isn't something most people hide unless they're really shy. Maybe it's something else. Like ghost charmer magic. Gods, myself in particular, know there's more ghosts here than is really comfortable. If all you needed was music or music magic, there wouldn't be so many. Apparenly only, and for lack of better phrase I'm going to keep using this one, ghost charmer magic can make the dead go away. -He ran a finger over the partially engraved flute.- We'd be the same in that regard. My magic's not specifically with music either, music is just a by-product of what I do.

Lyric: Hmm.. I suppose you're right... Though.. would it hurt to ask him to try?

Sho: I suggested it when we were talking earlier. The thought of singing to the dead creeps him out just a bit. I suggested he talk to Dad, though given how Dad still won't sing for an audience that probably won't help much. -He shrugged a third time.- I'm trying to think of ways that might help with that. Maybe he doesn't have to sing; as long as it's him producing the music perhaps an instrument could work. I don't know if he'd done that or not.

Lyric: It's sertainly worth a try. As long as it helps him get better... The thought of loosing one of my children isn't one I'd like to entertain so let's startt rying what we can... I can start giving him lessons in reading mucis for instruments.. but I myself don't really play one.. so he'll need a different mentor for that.

Sho: -Snorts.- You just show him the fingerings of the instrument and what notes those represent, and how to read sheet music. That's really all there is to it. The rest is practice.

Lyric: *arches an eyebrow at his grand son* Yes.. well I'm not the flute player here.. and I'd rather he learn by some one who has it down better.... now stop giving your grand dad lip and lets devise a solution before I get your gran in on this and you know she won't be happy to know this still hasn't been solved..

Sho: -He shrugged, clearly unrepentant about his attitude. He'd never been a type for diffidency.- You're a music teacher. Even if you don't play an instrument it shouldn't be hard to teach someone how to get started. -He cast his gaze on the pieces he had in the room; there were a great many, in varying levels of expertise for a player....and in craftsmanship. As a god of flutes all Sho had to do was to think of what he wanted and as long as he had the material it would form itself into a shape that pleased him. Magic that came with his domain, and how he'd made his first flute. Still, there was something to be said for the magic of making something with one's own hands, and several of his pieces were reaching completion. Thanks to the magic he always knew exactly where and what he was supposed to do to his materials to get the best sounds, and if he made mistakes that ruined it he would discard the attempt and start again. He hadn't been able to make a complete piece for quite some time after he first started.- I've got music books around here somewhere that Dad dug out for me. They've got the fingers listed in the back. I suppose he could learn off that. Assuming he even wants a flute, or even the traditional kind. -He could easier picture Requiem with an Native American flute or a pan flute than the more traditional kind.-

Lyric: *He thought this over a moment and nodded.* Sounds like a start And I can use those booke to help furter teach him then. As you put it i am a music teacher.. *he stared at his grandson* Even though it's a vocal teacher rather than instruamental.

Sho: -Taps his fingers against the counter, his wings shifting a little so they don't get stiff from holding still for so long.- Well I'm no instrumental teacher either. All my talent in flutes is instinctive, I don't have the first clue how to teach someone to actually play. Dad had to teach me how to read music before I could get anywhere anyway, so it's a good place to start for now.

Lyric: *nodding he looked to where he knew Req was still sleeping.* It's a start at least... *He was in agreement with him with that.* How long you think he'll be out like that?

Sho: -He sighed, casting a glance back over his shoulder. He could feel the young adult snuggled into his tail and wondered out he wasn't suffocating or overheating from all that fluff.- I'm not sure. He's pretty sleep deprived, so.... My guess is he'll stay there for as long as I'm able to sit here, which I won't be able to manage for more than a few hours.

Sho: -He fluttered down from the sky, landing next to his favorite lake deep in the forest. It was half a day's flight from his home, not too terribly far from others, he supposed, but his wingspan was also greater. Definitions aside, to Sho it was still a beautiful piece of untouched land where he could go to be alone. He settled on his favorite rock next to the lake and pulled out a flute, warming up before he started practicing songs.-

Ranger: [It was a beautiful day on the lake; the breeze blew through the trees, shaking their needles and leaves, and making ripples on the water. Ranger was swimming through the water when he heard the sound of a flute. He poked his head out of the waves and peered across the water to the other god, sitting on a rock. Silently, he listened, keeping still, hoping to not be noticed.]

Sho: -Finally he finished warming up, a simple process of going from low notes to high and back again a couple times, gradually speeding up as he went. He paused for a moment as the last notes faded into the still air, waiting for a mood to insert itself into him. He had to be in a mood if he wanted to make up a song, but sometimes it helped whenever he played something he knew by memory. Slowly he began a song, like a drawn-out version of the birds trilling their song around him. Little embellishments inserted themselves here and there. There was a lightness to the song, like spring and flight. It was a happy song, one of hope and life.-

Ranger: [Entranced, the wilderness god remained silent, listening to the sound of the other god's song in a hymn to spring, that season now long past. He wouldn't dream of interrupting it now or ever]

Sho: -He stopped playing when the song finally reached a point that felt like a natural conclusion to him, lowering the flute from his lips and opening his eyes, which had drifted shut when he began to play. He'd brought a metal flute this time, though his usual preference were wooden ones in the Native American style, or thereabouts. They seemed to produce a sound closer to nature, to his ears at least, but there was still something satisfying about the clear, high sounds produced from metal. He let his gaze drift over his surroundings, seeking a new bit of inspiration. A frown furrowed his brow. What was the bit of green out in the water? Part of a plant? He couldn't quite make it out, but it was a very vivid color around the dark, steely blue of the lake.-

Ranger: [The music finally ended, and Ranger shook himself from his trance. He ducked back underwater and swam towards the shore, finally poking his head out of the water twenty yards from the other god] Do you have one for summer, now past?

Sho: -The bit of green vanished. Sho was still debating whether to ignore it or find a new place to practice when it popped back out of the water, this time much closer, with a definite form. And it spoke. Startled, all he could do was stare blankly and battle with his fight-or-flight response. Then reason kicked back in and he recognized the stranger for what it (he) was. Processing what he said took a little longer, but it also eventually registered. Kind of.- Do I have a....a what?

Ranger: Your song. It spoke of springtime and new life. Do you have a song for summer? It may be fall, but now I'm curious.

Sho: -He eyeballed the stranger measuringly. Despite making the acquaintance of a few people by now, he would never be a social butterfly. Anger at a world that seemed to have forgotten him by now was just a habit of solitude, with only occasional stirrings of his old angst. Plus there was that imp of mischief combined with a bit of impatience; it was to a point where he sometimes wondered if he didn't deliberately enjoy being blunt or tactless. Still, if there was ever a way to get to him, it was either you were a child or you launched into a conversation about his music. It still threw him that people seemed to enjoy it.- Probably, but doesn't mean I can play it. I can't push a freestyle, they either come to me or they don't. I know a few upbeat songs, but they're memorized from sheet music. Whether or not they seem like summer probably depends on the person listening.

Ranger: [Disappointing, but the muse could not be forced] That's quite alright. Your composition was lovely on its own merits. Ranger. [He sticks out his paw] I'm afraid I don't remember making your acquaintance.

Sho: -He examined the paw offered to him like he wasn't really sure what the god was about. Manners won over natural suspicion in the end. Helped that this male looked nothing like him; Sho had always been a little afraid that he might one day stray across his birth parents by accident, but more and more that seemed unlikely. He gave Ranger's paw a brief clasp.- I'm Sho. You wouldn't remember making my acquaintance, cause this is the first time we've met. I'd remember someone as green as you if we had. -The god was as vibrant in his own way as Lorik. Sometimes it made him a little envious when he considered how plain his snowy coat was in comparison, but the feeling was easily dismissed.- I come here every now and then to play. It's a favorite spot.

Ranger: [Ranger glanced briefly down at his coat] I've always wished I could be slightly less bright. It would make being hidden easier. [He shrugged] Well-met, Sho. And this is a good place to be; I love coming here, especially when the sun is high and the air is warm.

Sho: -At Ranger's words he glanced up at the sky. The sun shone merrily down, one of the few places it could do so unhindered in this forest. Without thinking about it, he raised his flute back to his lips, mind drifting and body falling into habit. The sun was so bright and warm. That particular shade of green, the brilliance of new summer, swam in his mind's eye. A season of growing and fun before the work of autumn set in. The first notes that drifted from the flute were lazy, but that was summer too. There was nothing wrong with sprawling out in the shade under a tree and watching life continue to grow strong in the warmth blanketing the land. Swimming and laughing, gentle winds and thunderstorms. For a moment Sho become lost in a cloud of memories, all the while staring up at that patch of brilliant blue sky, temporarily forgetting he wasn't alone in the clearing.-

Ranger: [When the other god lifted the flute to his lips, Ranger fell silent. He floated a little deeper in the water, entranced by the music that now poured forth. Yes, summer. Growth, lazy growth, the putting on of dry weight and the collection of heat and warmth. All that heady calm after the frenzy of spring. Once again, a season captured in a song.]

Sho: -He finished his song and for a moment remained lost in the spell that brought it forth, still staring up at the sky. Then he suddenly remembered he had company. He started and looked down, lowering his flute as a guilty blush swept across his cheeks. Probably a bit of embarrassment too. He never had problems playing sheet music for others, but when it came to making up songs old memories would float to the surface and twinge at him.- Sorry, sometimes music just takes over lately. My family does that a lot, but we try to be a bit less random around strangers.

Ranger: [He hid a look of confusion at the blush--what did Sho have to be embarrassed about?] It was beautiful. You shouldn't apologize for it.

Sho: -He sighed shortly, fingers tapping a light tempo on the metal of the flute.- I was taught a few common courtesies as a youngster, even if I'm sometimes a bit crotchety as an adult. Sudden drifting with no warning is usually considered rude. -He shrugged casually.- Not that I personally think it matters in the end, but it's just habit by this point both to try keeping to manners and to be embarrassed when I slip up. Dad seemed so insistent that they were important for me to know.

Ranger: I suppose. But that's not a rule of courtesy I'm a champion of. I was raised by my parents, and being polite wasn't high on their priority list. They were more concerned with teaching me facts and skills.

Sho: -He seemed lost in thought for a bit, fingers running over the flute like he was playing a song as he turned the god's words over in his mind. What had Ranger's childhood been like, he wondered. He didn't bother brooding over "could have been"'s any more, but they still left a wistful and wondering, if somewhat bitter taste in his mouth.- My family's a mixed bag. We learn the basics, but no one's really a stickler about manners. The way some of them go on sometimes, you'd think they'd been raised by howler monkeys. -He could think of at least three names right off the bat, and one of those had just had some kids herself. He wondered how that lot would turn out; he hadn't met any of them yet.-

Ranger: My mothers were nature goddesses, so they were more concerned with introducing me to the beauty of their domains, and their wonders, than they were with teaching me etiquette. Just here and there reminding me that my path in life would not bring me into contact with mortals much, so not to worry. [He snorts] Didn't exactly work out like that. But compared to my nephew, I'm a lot better, so there's that, at least.

Sho: -He firmly stamped on that annoying prickling sensation in his mind. To distract himself he picked up a soft cloth resting on top of the flute case by his tail, and began to wipe down the already-clean flute until it shone. He finally found his tongue again as he worked.- My family has a lot of musicians. Some perform, some teach. Some just enjoy music. -Concluding the flute was as clean on the outside as he could possibly make it, he set the cloth neatly aside. Still feeling like he needed to be doing something, he tipped the flute up to check the pads fixed to the inside of the keys.- My upbringing sounds a bit the opposite of yours. I was almost fully grown before I met a goddess for the first time, was fully grown when I met another god. Until that point I'd gotten used to being taller than everyone else.

Ranger: [He blinked. It wasn't the first time he'd heard of a god who was raised by mortals, but it was still fairly unusual.] That must have been frustrating. Did you know you were a god before then?

Sho: -His muscles tensed slightly. They were starting to tread on grounds he wasn't comfortable with. Well, it was a natural enough question to ask and Ranger seemed curious. As long as they skipped over details Sho figured he could manage a summary.- No, not at first. I was found and partially raised in an orphanage. I had to figure it out from listening in on conversations, though wasn't until Dad took me in that I really knew what that meant, aside from just being bigger.

Ranger: [He knew enough about the wild to know when he'd hit a nerve. Time to back off the family subject. What could he talk about, then? His own hobbies surely didn't intersect Sho's very much.] That sounds harsh. I'm sorry it was so. So do you visit very many lakes, or just this one?

Sho: -He simply shrugged in response. He happened to agree, but dwelling on it rarely did any good and most likely just chased people away with the sour mood it created. Thankfully Ranger provided a distracted in the form of a question steering away from the questionable waters. Or relating to them, if you wanted to take the metaphor literally.- This is probably the one I visit most often. Sometimes it's other lakes, sometimes I just wander through the forest. I don't go much further than a day's flight though, so I'm not away from home for more than a couple days at most. -He rubbed fingers over the flute, glancing down at it as he did so.- My domain is related more to instruments rather than musical talent. It's one thing to know how to play the notes and another thing entirely to make the notes into a song. I seem to be a bit better at finding inspiration out here than in towns or cities.

Ranger: Yes, music is Kali's domain, if I recall correctly. But I like to fly as much as possible, as far as possible. [Gestures to the forest around them] Everywhere is home for me, outside of the cities. Cities, they're all dark and hard edges, no inspiration at all.

Sho: Hmmm, more like they're a different kind of inspiration. Not one I generally feel willing to tap in to, but there's something there. -The name sounds vaguely familiar, but he didn't bother trying to chase down the recollection for now.- My family lives at the edge of a decent-sized town, maybe not big enough to be called a city. We're a little ways away from it, by the edge where the forest starts. My grandma and one of my aunts are so into gardening though, it sometimes feels like the forest is trying to reach out a bit further.

Ranger: [Shrugs] Well, you're allowed to find inspiration wherever it finds you. But like I said, I prefer the wilderness, though I sometimes make a house my own. The house where my nephew lives, actually.

Sho: -He quirked up an eyebrow curiously.- I live in my grandparents house. A lot of my family is there or close to it. -His large wings rustled on his back in their own version of a restless shrug.- Never thought of making a home elsewhere, though from time to time I entertained the idea of making a small house somewhere out here for more comfort in overnight stays. In nice weather it wouldn't matter much, but snow and rain aren't that fun to sleep in.
