"Well I don't know what other kind of Demons there are but I think I may the only one of my kind. At least that is what I think anyways. I haven't met another shadow demon so I gather that I may the only one or that we're rare. I myself am a high rank but we aren't ranked by breeds, I think it is determined by kills but then again, I never payed attention to all of that crap." Fields took some time to comprehend. He couldn't understand why his rival wanted that red-haired demon so much, this one proved to be far more useful in the field of studies. Then again, he never really understood his rival that well.
"Only vun of your kind? What about your-" he stopped suddenly. Parents, he wanted to say, but he had a feeling he was subconsciously told the answer.

Another twin stream of smoke came from the doctor's nose as he listened to the boy. Created purely by the shadows, with no family to speak of. How did he grow up? Who taught him the essentials of life? For a second, Fields almost pitied the boy, but they both knew that doing such a thing would only make matters worse.
"Vell... Sorry to hear that." he muttered carelessly, not wanting to put too much emotion into it.

Both of the doctor's eyebrows rose at this. Older than him, that was saying something. Or not. He was old, yes, older than he looked, but he had seen many creatures at this 'school' that were older than he ever thought possible.
After a while, the doctor got up from his seat with a sigh and pressed the butt of his cigarette against the table, putting it out. "You are free to stay the night here if you vant." he said with a careless shrug as he limped towards the kitchen. "Do you vant anyzing to drink? Eat?"

"'No human foods'?" the doctor questioned and turned to raise an eyebrow at him, the cabinet ahead of him opened and his hand in mid-reach for a can of brussel sprouts. "Then vhat do you eat?"

The doctor stared at him for a moment before turning back to his can of brussel sprouts. Somehow it didn't surprise him that a demon would want to consume organs for nourishment, but he was far from willing to offer up his own. "Do you absolutely need hearts or can you live vithout them for a certain amount of time?" he asked while searching for a can opener.
