"What-wait, I can't see, why-HOOTER." She tried indeed, squirming left and right, trying to sneak under his arm, over his shoulder, around his body, until finally she yelped his name out in frustration and laughed. "WHY ARE YEH HIDINGS WHY!"

All she got from Kettil was a handful of distracted 'Nopes' as he chattered along with the sales clerk at the booth and eventually card was exchanged and suddenly he turned around and hugged onto Freya, "It's a surpriiiiiiiiiise that's why!" he chimed at her gleefully.
He was doing this on purpose. So totally on purpose.
"I just wanted it to be at least a little bit of a surprise," he grinned at her, "just because you knew you were getting something didn't mean you had to know what form it takes," he leaned to kiss the tip of her nose. By this time there were two boxes slid toward him.
He snatched them up and offered them to her, "For you!"

What could he possibly be surprising her for?! She already knew he was buying her jewelry, she'd already picked out a type and everything. Just the specific piece was unknown to her. Still, every inch of her begged to be let in on the secret, as soon as it was made into a mystery. So in some way, Kettil was right to build the suspense - even if only for a moment.
She stopped trying to fling herself at the counter when he handed her the boxes, and gave him a sly smile. "Thanks yeh- ... why are there two?" She eyed them both, weighing them with her hands. The earrings, perhaps? Why would they put each in one box?

He shrugged his shoulders giving her a wide-eyed stare of shock, "I dunno! Guess yer gonna have to find out by opening them," he said innocently enough, the innocence was pretty much a sham because he was grinning crazed fox after it got into the chicken coop.
Once she opens the boxes she'd find a set of earrings and then a ring in the other sparkling with pretty pink diamonds on a silver setting.
Kettil watched her curiously for her reaction.

Freya was already peeking in one of the boxes, when he told her to. She grinned up at him before flipping the top of the box up back onto the counter, and pulling out the earrings. The tiniest squeal of glee left her, and she picked up the earrings, holding it up to her ears. They were perfect.
"Whatchyeh thinks? Do they look nice on me?" She turned her head left, and right, posing dramatically.

"They look beautiful on ya!" He said honestly with a grin and then chuckled at the dramatic posing that she had done. He was happy to get her a gift she enjoyed so much, it made him want to buy her more gifts later on.
He kissed her briefly, "Now look at the next gift! I want to see if you like that half as much as you like the earrings~," Kettil said with a hitch of excitement to his tone.

Freya's lips twisted in a wry smile, before she shook her head. "No, I thinks I has a better idea." If both earrings had been in the first box, the second was a total surprise to her. He wanted to surprise her, didn't he? She'd help.
She handed him the box back, and closed her eyes. "Yeh puts it on, and tells me how yeh likes it before I sees it." Her head nodded firmly, but her eyes stayed shut tight.

Kettil took the box and just stared at her for a long moment even as she shut her eyes. There was a small nervous clench to his gut that he couldn't quite help. He was not an experienced boil as far as giving the gift of rings was concerned.
Yet, what if she took offense to him putting it on the right hand?
A second of inner turmoil he opened the box and took out the ring that was contained with in and then he took a hand at random (it happened to be the left) and slipped the ring onto her ring finger, "...I like it! It looks very lovely on your hand, like it belongs there."
Wait ... was that her...left hand...?
On the inside Kettil began to spazz.

Freya felt him pick up her hand, and her wry smile dropped for a moment. But when he slipped it on, she opened her eyes and brought her hand to her eyes, peering at the ring closely. There was a long moment of silence where she just stared at it on her finger. It was more like gawking, really. But in the end.. Kettil was lucky. Freya didn't register where he'd put it. She was far too busy being awed at how jaw droppingly beautiful it was.
"Hooter." She whispered hoarsely, looking up at him. "Yeh sure about this?"
She merely meant that the gift looked far too expensive, and she wouldn't have expected something so lavish. But considering the circumstances, it could only make misunderstandings worse.

Quick. Breathe. Breathe. She didn't seem upset or anything and that was good! She didn't seem to be jumping to conclu--Oh damn...
"Yeah! Why wouldn't I be?" he asked a blush rising to quickly cover his face. He was glad she seemed to like her gift, though! He was still smiling despite how suddenly anxious he'd made himself with just this one gift.
If it had been any other time he probably wouldn't be analyzing the situation so hard but...Things were different now and...
The sales representative had mysteriously disappeared - probably somewhere where they could laugh openly at Kettil.

Freya caught sight of the blush, and reached up to touch Kettil's cheek. The color was so beautiful on his dark skin. Did he even know that? She wondered if he'd ever seen himself blush.
Freya shook her head, blinking out of the moment of reverie, and wrapped both of her hands slowly around Kettil's shoulders. Her nose pinched and she grinned giddily as she closed in, nose to nose with the boil.
"I loves it." She whispered quietly, her face pinched in delight. "Thanks yeh."

She was touching his cheek and he just knew that he was basically radiating all the warmth in the realm of Halloween just then at least that was how it felt to him, but he couldn't tear his gaze away as he watched her and when her nose came close to his he just grinned haplessly, "I..I am glad. I picked out something good then."
His arms moved to wrap around her waist, "I am happy to have spoiled you a little today," he said simply trying to forget the implications of what he had just done - if she didn't notice then he could pretend that he didn't notice either. Right?
..Yes.
...Indeed.

Freya's giggle bubbled out of her helplessly, and she rubbed her nose back and forth against his. "I will spoils yeh teh makes up for it. As soon as I can figures out what yeh wants." She kissed his lips quickly, and grinned. "Now.. we goes home..?" Her hands remained on his cheeks, brushing his blush with her thumbs curiously.

"Just you," he said simply and sincerely as he returned the kiss with a small grin. At her question he hummed a little and then nodded, "Yeah, I can make us something to eat at home just as easy," he said after a moment.
He leaned up to kiss her forehead, "Lemme grab the bags again and we can be on our way~," he smiled at her happily.

Curses. He remembered.
Freya let him go to get the bags, but as soon as he wasn't looking she was back to looking at her hand again. It was so damn pretty. She knew it had to have been too much.. Kettil couldn't afford something so extravagant. She promised herself that it was just this one time, and she wouldn't let him go overboard like this again. It couldn't become a habit - she'd bankrupt the poor boil before he even graduated.
But as much as she worried, she was clearly fawning over how beautiful the ring looked on her finger. Better than Sif's, that was for sure-
Freya's eyes widened just slightly, and she slid her fingers across the ring, slowly pulling it off, and sliding it onto her other hand. She knew Kettil hadn't meant that, and she was all too glad to quietly fix his mistake. The last thing she needed was Hel screaming that she'd gotten married on their second date.
Her fingers kept brushing against the ring, feeling it's sharp texture against her skin. It made her feel special. It made her feel giddy.
When Kettil returned, her grin would be silly and foolish.
