'Ready' she mouthed back, adjusting the kid carefully in her arms as she moved towards the door with a light step.
If the other kids were still in the house, they needed to round them all up and get out of there. She'd inform the higher ups of this judgement call once they had rounded everybody up.

Jordan's phone buzzed, and he jumped. He pulled it out and checked it, then tapped out a quick text in return.
Quote:
Text to Wilson: Stairs are here. They were hidden.
"Cass and Wilson are headed this way," he reported to Dakota. "Cass has something. Wilson didn't say what, but I'm guessing we're about to find out."
"Fantastic, Let's see what she brings and then get the hell out of here."
Dakota stood up and prepared himself, Chama out defensively.

Cass gingerly pushed her way through the door, confident that Wilson would be able to keep her covered while her arms were full as they made their way down the hallway to join the other two boys.
Seeing the pair where the stairs had been, Cass approached them quietly, the child still cradled in her arms. 'She was in the closet'. She mouthed to Jordan, turning to Dakota before she did the same.
"Let's make sure the other children aren't still inside then get them out. I'm deeming these children getting out priority in this house. They'll probably have to be put on Hunter-watch list." her voice was quiet as she stopped mouthing and gave her little group a layout of what was going on in her head.

Wilson nodded and trailed behind Cass. He constantly looked around as they eventually made their way down the stairs. He nodded at Cass' words. "Did you two see the other kids?" he murmured as he looked at Jordan and Dakota.

Jordan shook his head. "Haven't seen anyone else. Let's get downstairs." He hesitated briefly. Could they be sure this child was human? Ferros, can you sense anything from her?
Dakota eyed the kid warily. "Not a soul. Literally." Dakota snorted before nodding. "If Jordan leads the way, Cass and Wilson can pull up the middle and I'll take the end. We got you guys covered." Except Wilson. You're on your own Wilson.

As Cass removed the bag, what was revealed was... a very normal human being. Or was it? It gasped and wheezed, the color draining from her face as she noticed the hunters. Her eyes were wide. She was frozen in place as Cass picked her up and carried her.
"No," she whimpered. "No no no no no no no no no no no no..." Her cries turned into sobs as she buried her face into her hands.
Ferros:
There is a delicate taste that permeates the area. It's faint. It's like the stray drop of strawberry juice in a cup of water. Is it Fear? Is it a lingering trace? It's hard to tell.
Cass looked down at the child curiously amongst the 'nos', tilting her head to one side. "No?" she asked as she began to step down the stairs. "Are you alright, hun?" she pressed quietly, "or is it something else?"
Licking her lips, Cass looked around the stairwell as they walked down it, as if expecting to find a left behind automatic scent-sprayer or something similar to attribute the oddity of the air to.

... I can't tell, Ferros said slowly. I taste Fear, but it is faint. Could be residual. He hesitated. If I could touch her, I might be able to tell.
"Okay," he murmured, and moved towards the stairs. On his way past Cass, he gently patted the child's arm with his right hand, letting the ring that was Ferros's unsummoned form unobtrusively touch her skin. "It'll be okay," he said soothingly.
"No no no no no you don't understaaaand!" The girl wailed, unwilling to struggle free but equally not wanting to remain there in Cass' arms. All around she was very Unhappy as evidenced by the messy sobbing going on.
Jordan was met with resistance when he patted her, the girl visibly flinching.
Ferros:
The taste is sharp and sweet. This child was made out of Fear. It was a delicate taste, but unmistakable. How the child managed to make themselves appear to be human was a mystery.

Cass made a face, her threshold for child-handling clearly starting to get hit quickly as she frowned. "Clearly." she agreed. "But I'm not understanding anything if you scream like that instead of make sense."
The ring's stone lit with a bright internal glow. Ferros's attention went pinpoint sharp with avid hunger as he tasted Fear; he didn't have to say anything, though he radiated a faint, conflicted sense of guilt. This child wasn't human, and he was hungry. But she was a scareling, and quite possibly an innocent one.
Jordan stopped short, sighing, and regarded the child. "Cass," he warned. "Stay calm, please. Kiddo, please explain it to us; what are you doing in the human world?" He kept his tone even and nonconfrontational; dealing with creatures that looked and acted like children, and probably were children by their kind's standards, was a touchy call. If the scareling really wasn't at fault here, he didn't want to scare her. Neither did he want to freak Cass out nor appear to be trying to take over.
He could feel a headache starting to twinge in his temple.

Cass looked at Jordan, then down at the child she was holding. Was he saying that.....? The knee-jerk response to potentially drop the kid kicked in, and Nicodemus had to give Cass a small reminder that it wasn't a good idea.
Instead, she carefully set the child on their feet, keeping on hand on their shoulder. If all they were going to do was 'nonononono' in her arms, she'd see if this loosened them up a bit.
