Rhaim found himself making the same mistake yet again when his internal self loathing caused him to roll the rock onto his foot a second time. This time the boy was so caught off guard that he had to grit his teeth behind the pain. Certainly the proctor of the exam was watching with little amusement as the young Nara proved his unworthiness in broad daylight. He had no one to blame but himself as he struggled to hoist the rock off of himself and reset the ropes. The entire ordeal was making him second guess his whole contraption. It was probably entirely more work than was needed to complete such a simple task. A lever and fulcrum would have probably gotten him up the mound in no time at all.

Rhaim continued to pull the rock up the mound when he felt it slip from his grasp once more. This time he was able to step out of the way and avoid his foot getting crushed by the boulder. What he was not able to do was maintain his grip on the rope well enough to keep it from sliding along his hands. Despite wearing gloves the quick moving rope caused quite a burn on the boy. He couldn't help but sigh through his nose and shake his head at himself. Even though it appeared to be such an easy task at first glance, he had spent more time failing at the obstacle than completing it. It was rather embarrassing to say the least. The teen was absolutely certain that this sealed the deal that he wouldn't be good enough to qualify for a more advanced screening.

With the small stone back in place to hold the large rock the Genin pressed on with his movement of the rock up the hill. Even with the mechanical advantage of the pulley system in place he still found it rather tiresome of his arms. As he had noted previously in the exercise, upper body strength was not something that he possessed a great deal of. When the boulder was cresting the top of the mound he couldn't help but consider that even genjutsu specializing shinobi were stronger than him. However even knowing that weakness about himself, the teen knew that he wasn't about to dedicate much time to his arms, chest, or back. If anything it was his legs and his mind that he cared enough to work on.

The rock firmly on top of the mound the boy scanned his immediate area for threats or hidden rules he had missed that would make his efforts futile. Finding none he carried on with the course.

Rhaim approached the wall and the instructions to get past it without going around it. The boy shrugged and began walking up the wall without thinking too hard on the situation. If he were in a real situation where the wall would come into play he would likely do the same thing. After all it would leave less of a trace of him being at the location and stealth was a key factor in being a ninja. Not that he was good at being very sneaky himself. Plus he didn't want to use any certain jutsus that would get him under the wall since enemy on the other side may require him to need that extra chakra. That thought coming to mind the boy made sure to come over the wall on his belly so as to portray the lowest silhouette possible.

Thankfully nothing went wrong with the wall.

Rhaim stepped off of the wall and instantly searched the immediate area for any sorts of traps or attack dogs. Not that he was actually expecting dogs given the severity of the course thus far. Satisfied that the area was clear he walked up to the final obstacle; a small pond. Looking down into it he noticed some fish. Something about live objects in a course that had not since had any gave him a very bad impression. The teen thus decided that since he couldn't jump the length of the pond he would stay out of it by simply walking on the water. However unlike the other parts of the course he jogged across this one. The look of the fish just did not sit well with him and he had no intention of finding out if they were friendly, or more importantly if they could jump.

Water Walking

Finally done with the obstacle course the young shinobi trotted over to the proctor with his hands firmly in his pockets. Aside from a smashed foot, burnt hands, and battered ego he wasn't that bad off. Still he couldn't help but feel that he had utterly failed the test in the eyes of the examiner. Rhaim stopped before the man and gave a slight bow verging on only being a nod. The balaclava still pulled up over his mouth and nose, he did not pant or even breath heavy. Having not been told of time limit he saw no need to run into situations carelessly. His eyes met with the man's and despite his mood showed only indifference to the situation, "I'm sorry I did that so unprofessionally, Sir. Like I said, I'm not particularly good."

Rinkou was a little put off by that performance of her own chakra control. But she decided to try again. This time, she concentrated far more and remembered only her face, her face... her face. With the hand seal, she activated the technique once more and appeared a form before her that looked very similar to her. It had all the right basic features, but she still needed to chisel down the details of her face and body far more. But right now, it was a good start. A good base to begin with.

The clone she created disappeared and it was time to make a new one. This time, she needed to make it better, small improvements are always good. Working on one thing at a time was even a good idea too. Rinkou just needed to get it all correct in order for it to pass as her. That was the point of these clones, were to deceive others.
She decided to work on her eyes first, she didn't like them much, but they had to be done. She remembered her eyes well, dark brown, almost black. Shaped in a manner that made her always look like she was serious or even a little mad. But really, she was quite happy most of the time. She concentrated on her eyes, for she knew that the rest should just automatically happen now. Her subconscious would remember the rest for her. Rinkou did the hand seals and in a poof of smoke, a new clone was made. Her eyes were there, nicely crafted out of her chakra. She was happy with the detail, they looked right. The clone then disappeared.

Yuzuki was writing things down on his clip board as the boy returned, his face brought up into a bemused smirk. "Heh. Well I'll admit that I'm a bit disappointed whenever someone finishes and I don't need t build an entirely new obstacle course, but as far as your performance..." he put the clipboard under his arm, giving his more blunt assessment. "Just from watching you there I'd say that you at least have hit B-rank. That would put your combat potential on par with that of a Special Jounin or high Chuunin. But underestimating yourself loses points with me...so we'll still require another test." he gave a slight laugh. "Follow me."

Yuzuki turned round and headed off. This kid was a thinker and an evader, brains and speed. But Brains over all. He supposed from the vague rumors he'd heard about the Clan, that fit. He'd give him this one last test... to see if it pushed him over the edge into the realm of Special Jounin, Yuzuki's equal. The kid would have to be damn good.

"Here." he was impassive again as he gestured towards a rather large mound of sand, and then pulled a pair of tweezers from his coat pocket, tossing them to the boy. "Move this..." he pointed to the VERY large mound of sand. "Over there." he stated rather flatly. "You have fun with that." he immediately went back to marking things on his clipboard.

Rinkou now needed to try and and improve other features. So she concentrated on some things and summoned a clone to see what would happen. The thing just appeared in a puff of smoke, and yes, it was a thing, and thing that had a beard. It was her, with a very well groomed beard. It was the most oddest thing she had ever seen. She was a little shocked that she could even produce it. Then she began to have a fit of laughing, loud enough to be heard over half the school. Her little lungs producing such a loud and high pitch squealing laugh. The clone then disappeared and she stopped.

Rinkou was now happy, that amusing clone put up her spirits, and she then knew she could do this clone with a bit if happiness filling her heart. She concentrated far more now, and then time worked on multiple looks, going back to the clone where she succeeded on the eyes and then adding more to it. Her hair this time she knew would be perfect, and her lips nicely scalped. She then summoned the clone and it appeared just as she wanted it to be. Lips were just like hers, the hair was glistening black and short. Her ability to produce a perfect clone was getting better and better.

She now wanted to get some other things fixed up, like the sash in instance. That was her very precious possession, and she had to get this one exactly right, because she loved the sash a lot. She felt it over, knowing and seeing it's color and texture was the right way to go. As soon as her body knew it, She knew then that she could make this clone with the sash quite nicely. She then summoned that clone and there it was, perfectly done.

[Rest] [Fail] Rhaim listened to the assessment from the man and wondered just what made the grade in Oto. He never saw himself as anything spectacular and certainly never heard anything that sounded like a compliment from his sisters. Being told that he was B-Rank was a bit much for the boy who had never even attempted anything of that caliber. Thus he dismissed most of the words as some sort of ruse to build him up and make him falter on the next task. And much to his displeasure there was in fact another test. As the teen looked at the mound of sand he couldn't help but sigh through his nose. His first thought was to fill his backpack with as much as he could and just shuttle the pile. That idea was short lived however.

[Rest] With the idea of simply hauling the sand from one location to another out of the question the boy started walking around the pile. His hands stuffed in his pockets his mind raced to find some effective means that would move the mass over without causing him alot of extra effort. About his third time circling the mound his thoughts hit on something that he figured fit the bill. The young ninja sat down in front of the sand and pulled two scrolls out from his backpack. One was small in size and contained several notes, the other was medium and had lines of Tobidogu symbols along the inside of it. Rhaim also took out a pen and began jotting down notes on the small scroll. He would move the sand using the Tobidogu.

[Rest] As the pen scribbled across the small scroll the boy planned how to best get the sand into the Tobidogu and over to the other location. The simple math of the situation was the easiest thing for him to solve. Since he was only currently able to manipulate a medium objects worth of mass into the sealing at a time, he would need a greater number of seals. While the medium scroll did provide him that, he was still limited on how quickly he could seal. From what he could figure it would take two trips of loading and unloading given how much sand was needing displacement. Though in all fairness he was completely capable of loading both sequences prior to unloading the two sequences since the medium scroll afforded him enough seals.

What the boy really needed to determine were some plans for how to lay out the scroll to actually consume the sand effectively. If he drew too little at a time he would waste chakra and time moving the sand over. While there wasn't officially a time given to complete the task, the boy had the feeling that it was best to finish sooner rather than later. The man watching over him did not appear to be the type that enjoyed missing meals, nor did he seem like the type to punish lightly. As the pen carried out its movements across the page the boy found what he believed to be the most ideal pattern to lay the Tobidogu scroll across the sand to be able to collect the most efficient amount for the first load.

With the plans for the first loading complete the teen set his sights and more importantly his pen work, on the plans for the second load. While putting together something for the first one was sort of easy, the second load would be a bit more of a challenge. After all the teen had to be able to accurately visualize what the mound would look like after half of it was gone and be able to account for how to reshape the Tobidogu seals to get as much sand with less available surface area. It really took more work on how much sand constituted a medium objects' worth of mass than anything else. The seals needed to be perfectly spaced to be able to pick the stuff up without leaving some random pile off in the corner untouched. Though somehow the young shinobi managed to put something together that he felt rather confident about.

Since both of the plans had been drawn up for how to load the sand into the scroll, all that was left was figuring out how to best unloading them. At first the boy thought about just laying it in some sort of pattern on the ground. However that would cover his scroll. Not an item that he felt like giving up to mother earth since he didn't feeling like going underground to get it. The possibility of him tossing the scroll into the air in some artistic fashion was way too showy for him. Thus he concluded that it would be best to just use a couple of sticks from the yard to set up an outer wall like structure to mount the unfurled scroll onto. Having come to that understanding he drew up the plans for how to construct his rather simple box structure for the sand from the seals to pour into.

[Fail] The structure plans finished, Rhaim was able to press on to the plan of just how to arrange the scroll on the structure to keep all of the sand contained. His first plan was just to have it evenly spaced as it ascended the structure. He felt that that would have the greatest effect of making the mound build evenly. As he placed some notes and sketches on his paper however he came to realize that that was not a good idea at all. If he did that then the sand would concentrate on the outer edges and create more of a bowl shape. Though he doubted the prettiness of the mound mattered to the proctor of the exam, he wasn't about to take any chances. A few strokes of the pen crossed out the failed plan.

[Fail] As one option found itself dead, Rhaim sighed and racked his brain for another plan of attack. Since scaling the scroll evenly up the sides was not a good idea he thought about just laying it across the top of the structure. However even that found itself crushed as the teen began to actually write it out onto the page placed before him. If he did that then there was little way to control how the mound of sand would climb. It may end up just displacing into some thin pancake like object. The which he was fairly certain would not count as being a pile like what Yuzuki wanted to see happen. So that too was scratched out by young Rhaim.

[Fail] As the Genin looked over the two failed ideas for some hint at a new one that would work, his mind drifted to the instructor standing somewhere nearby. Rhaim was not about to lift his head from his work to find out where the man had gone. After all it was highly likely that he was standing just over the boys' shoulder watching his every note and mocking him for not seeing the obvious answer. With a sigh he cast away the thoughts of the other man and focused on the task at hand yet again. For whatever reason he briefly considered a diagonal pattern over the structure. That one didn't last long for the sake of the pure obscurity of it. A shake of the head and a scratch of the pen put that drawing in the pile of failed ideas.

The teen closed his eyes and cracked his neck as he sighed out his nostrils. He decided that it would be best to take his eyes from the drawings that had not worked and envision something entirely different. To his surprise it was the fact that he was unable to get those two images out of his head that led to his next idea. The teens' eyes popped open and he began scribbling down a thought for having the scroll climb the structure with an increasingly larger gap every row and then box into the center of the top of the structure. That way the first load of Tobidogu he would be able to release would create an outer wall base and the second load would fill in a raised mound. As it stared back up at him from the paper it seemed like such an obvious solution. Now all he needed to do was make it happen.

Satisfied that the calculations he had done were satisfactory the Nara took hold of the medium scroll and stood up. He moved about laying it over the mound in accordance with the plans he drew up for the first load. He didn't even need to look back over his notes to set it up properly due to his excitement and the feeling that he was falling behind on time. With the first half of the scroll he needed laid out over the mound of sand, the boy formed the handseals for the Tobidogu. He almost held his breath as he released his chakra and drew in the first half of the sand. A quick review of his work confirmed that he had the size mound now that he expected he should have. A few glances over his notes confirmed the same. So far it seemed to be working well enough.

Rhaim re-positioned the Tobidogu scroll over the mound of sand in order to account for the loss in surface area. This time he did check with his notes prior to actually trying to store the rest of the earth within the seals. After he finally felt that it was in the right place by his notes, the teen formed the handseals and locked the sand away inside the scroll. Curious to see how accurate his notes had been on the subject, Rhaim scoured the area for any left over sand. To his surprise and relief he had not missed any and was ready to move on in his endeavor. The which brought on a nasal sigh of satisfaction as he was certain he could feel the impatience of the instructor weighing down on him.

[Fail] Moving on to the unloading portion of the task that he had been given, Rhaim set out in search of some sticks to use as the structure. Within no time he had enough and had the box like shape erected in the location that Yuzuki had indicated to move the sand. As it was though he had not taken into account the structural needs in regard to the scroll itself. Soon after beginning to place the Tobidogu onto the sticks it came crushing down. As it was the ones that he had picked were unable to hold up the weight of the scroll. Rhaim shook his head at himself, mentally cursing the fact that he had overlooked such an important aspect. With a crack of the neck the teen rolled the scroll back up and placed the weak sticks aside.

[Fail] The teen set out to find new and better sticks for his structure and did so in very little time. After all it wasn't some sort of huge thing that he had to build. Just big enough for the mound of sand. As he worked on constructing the thing he ensured at various stages that it had the integrity to hold up the scroll. Which it did. Once it was finally up the teen began unfurling the scroll around the box in the manner that he had noted on his smaller scroll. It took him much longer as he wanted to make sure that it did not fall apart yet again. When that was completed Rhaim took a step back from his work to examine it and found that something was off. It wasn't something he could pinpoint at first. However after a quick reference to his notes he realized that the spacing up the sides was all wrong.

Rhaim readjusted the way the scroll was mounted on the sides and top of the structure to accurately match his sketches. As he reviewed his work the second time he found that he was as close as he could get. Ready for the unloading work to begin he formed the handseals for the Tobidogu and hoped that it would work as he had planned. Fortunately for the young Genin that was just what it did. Sand poured out from the seals set on the sides of the Tobidogu scroll, forming a bowl like shape. The teen let out a sigh of relief that so far his chakra use had not been in vain. He was also glad that with the way things were looking he would not have to actually carry any of the sand around.

With a crack of the neck the Nara formed the handseals for the second set of seals and released the sand from the top of the structure. It flowed down like some sort of weird dirt waterfall, except with nice scenery or a rainbow. Probably better described as a rather dull boring waterfall. Rhaim expected no less from himself but was glad to be completed with the task. The boy collected up his scrolls and stored them back in his pack. He then gathered up all of the sticks he had used for the structure and piled them nearby the sand. A sick part of the teen hoped some other kid saw the sticks and thought they were the secret to the sand moving and ended up wasted more time and effort.

With things tidied up Rhaim approached Yuzuki again. Hands thrust deep in his pockets and balaclava still over his face, "Done, Sir. Sorry it took so long. The math was easy but I'm no engineer."

Yuzuki gave a small grin as he watched the boy work, his face splitting into an impressed smirk in spite of himself. He didn't often like to admit when he was impressed with someone, particularly when that someone wasn't one of his students, but he made the rare exception. Yuzuki once more put his clip board under his arm. "Heh...well, kid. I'll admit. You passed my inspection...off hand, given your level of intellect and skill level, I'd place you at Special Jounin. Just barely, but...well," he gave a slight nod of approval. "You make the Cut. B-rank." he gestured back towards the academy. "I was instructed," he noted, as he led him back towards the academy. "To give you an assignment when I ranked you...but seeing as my reccomendation is that we be equals, that would out of line...within my authority, being an Otobe, but out of line." Yuzuki was man who wasn't defined by his clan...whatever his faults..that at least wasn't among them.

"So how about I ask you a favor instead." he stopped outside the back door to the academy, lifting a brow at him. "I won't call it an assigned duty...but..." he looked at the younger man more earnestly. "A few of my students have gone missing lately. The Director thinks they may be targeting academy students...even one from the Otobe class went missing. The Director can't spare the Officers, the security of the village being what it is with the Lord Kage gone, so they're sending a couple of fresh chunin to take care of it." Yuzuki didn't seem worried as such, but he gave the boy a respectful nod. "But they could use someone with your skills along. If you were agree to assist..." he seemed to pause for a moment. "I'd owe you one." he said seriously.
