"This is Solath. You ready for this?" He watched the rest of the new riders, seeing if they would get a crowd around. The crimson's movements made him smile. She was sure to find Hers.
Hello Sister! Mine, you are slacking on feeding me. Getting the reprimand, Freniar looked for a good size piece. "Eat this one a bit slower."

Dizzian gave him an enthusiastic thumbs up. "I've been ready for this sinceI turned 12! I'm so excited Courath chose me!" She rubbed her hatchlings eye ridge affectionately. Dizzan scooted over on the bench, making room for Freniar to sit and feed Solath. "What about you? You ready to be a Rider?"
Courath leaned her head into the caress, closing one eye but keeping the other trained on Solath.

Solath ate the meat slower than the last couple, starting to feel full. "She is a good looking green." He looked at the bench and smiled. "Thank you. I am as ready as can be." Freniar gave Solath a pat on his shoulder, ending with a rub on his eyeridge. The blue starting humming in pleasure.

Well, no one could say that this hatching wasn't exciting. From all the Impressions, the egg that turned out to be a dud, and to the Queen's anger. Even the fact that there was a candidate who actually approached the gold. How scary it must have been to face that kind of anger. Giving a brief shudder of distaste, she watched as what she could only describe as an adorable black did an acrobatic move before finding his own.
Giving a small smile for the new pair, Aislin turned her attention back to where the rest of the eggs rested and watched the goldrider crack open another egg. And..yes, it was a crimson. Aw, she was just as adorable as the black. Even when she managed to stumble into the dud egg and panicking. Chuckling to herself, she watched at the crimson made her way to the female candidates before nosing the first girl she was close to. Was that an Impression? Hmm..it didn't look like it, perhaps she was just the affectionate kind?

F'ren was pleased that the little black Impressed in good time but he was curious about the Crimson, that was pretty smart, making the girls come to HER instead of wasting precious energy. He knew that even if her partner was here and she Impressed, if she wasted too much energy she could easily die right there on the hatching sands, without even enough energy to Between. As ever with atypicals F'ren hoped they Impressed quickly.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
M'lan had also been watching but from nearer to the entrance to the sands than most of the riders. He had to keep a tight mental grip on Asoth as the huge Brown loved to be center of attention, if it was up to the dragon, he'd be down on the sands trying to play with the hatchlings and generally being loud so M'lan kept him grounded. Somehow the Brown managed to look mournful and upset that he wasn't allowed to be center stage. "Unless you want Brakiath to tear your hide to ribbons you stay put and leave the attention grabbing to the newly hatched Asoth .. sometimes you can be so ....... grrr" he said, somewhere between amusement and annoyance at his Brown.

Dizz beamed with pleasure at the compliment. Of course she felt her Courath was the most beautiful thing to ever grace this planet! "Solath is handsome as well! For such small eggs it's fortunate that they're well sized." Dizzian offered Courath another chunk but placed it back as the green shook her head. She was now resting it in Dizzian's lap. "She's looking tired already though. We've been here since the beginning of the Hatching."
Courath yawned to emphasize Dizzian's words, stretching her small wings out and settling herself deeper into the sands at Dizzian's feet. The Hatching was almost over and instinctively she knew she'd get to rest once everything finished up.

Now that the younger goldrider had stepped up to take on the usual task of helping the eggs to hatch, things were moving quite briskly. The black's clumsiness was endearing, and his Impression relieving. His new partner seemed to have the task of raising an atypical well in hand, starting with sparing the black the effort of further physical exertion. E'lai nodded in approval. The crimson's strategy for getting the girls to come to her was amusing, but seemingly quite effective. She might need a bath after stumbling into the goo of the dud egg, but plenty of those and oiling sessions were in store for whomever she Impressed...

She nosed and greeted each of the girls that approached, ruffling her wings when she got too close and there was soon a very decided clumping of candidates around the crimson as each of the girls wanted to be the one. When, at last, Hers was revealed, she rumbled and fluffled herself, the motion of rearing back scattering the girls without injury, she bobbed her head in the direction of Selene. Selenemine! Your Tessth is here! Here! Come to Yours! She sounded weary and worn, but also of good humor as she settled back down and sneezed. Kyrieko Narisa was happy to see the hatchlings Impressing! And even happier that she was able to assist both new dragonets and Candidates in finding one another in a small way. She smiled at the new pair, waiting for them to clear the area before she hefted the shovel and moved to her next egg. The Silver Lining Egg. Lining up the shovel, Narisa swung and thwacked it against the shell. And the shell eeped! but didn't break. A second swing was followed by a second eep and then a black burst forth, almost as if he'd been waiting to make an entrance. Turning around, he chittered at Narisa and continued talking to himself as he turned to regard the candidates - the first atypical to consider both sides.

Freniar was on the same line of thoughts about Solath. "Yes it is." He glanced at the sleepy Courath and smiled. "I would be too, especially on their first day out." Hearing a couple of thwacks, the teen looked over at Narisa. It didn't seem the egg..."Oh another black. I am glad to see that the atypicals are finding Theirs in time so far."

Lena thought the pretty crimson's way of drawing the girls in was quite inventive. And it seemed several of the dragons this clutch were very friendly with touch - something she would've been eager for were she, say, Roeline's age. Any chance to pet a dragon back then would've been cherished. Now that she was older, and friends with rather more dragonriders, the petting was slightly easier to come by. At least with some dragons.
The black now gracing the Sands seemed quite the talkative sort as he glanced to both girls and boys - Lena wondered if he was keeping up a running commentary. If it was a habit he intended to keep, he'd best choose someone who didn't prefer silence. But the dragons knew what they were doing - she was interested to see just whom this one would pick.

'Just as I said' Cheryth stated proudly as the little crimson impressed.
'I never had any doubts Love" Ca'mil told her dragon with a bit of a laugh. She was a blodly colored little creature that crimson and if they were lucky...she'd grow up to be an excellent addition to the Weyr

F'ren relayed the latest hatchings and Impressions to Toulonth, he was glad that the Crimson Impressed, they'd already lost a green and then another potential was gone in the dud egg. F'ren always hated to see loss of life in Dragonkind, especially when it was the young. Toulonth, over in her weyr, rumbled comfort towards him and he smiled and watched as it took two whacks to crack the egg of the new Black, he wondered if that had been a 'regular' color .. would it have been able to break the shell, let alone a weaker Atypical. He was also pleased that so far Narisa was being allowed to hatch the eggs without interference from Brakiath, his gaze flickered to her and wondered how Abigail was doing.

Aaaw, such a sweet dragonet~ Roeline was very much happy to greet the crimson as she came by and was even happier to see her find Hers. Only three eggs left! And a new black was out on the Sands~ Would this one go to the boys, or would he also come towards the girls?

Now that she had Hers, Nawa focused solely on him, with only peripheral attention at best on the others who'd Impressed or what remained of the Hatching. Rioth needed her, he needed to be fed and warm. Her attention had never wavered during lessons, and she knew just what she was supposed to do with her Atypical hatchling - and she was very very good at doing what she was supposed to.
Collecting the meat that she would need, she settled on the ground, and the black clambered into her lap to continue eating. As hungry as he was, he did so delicately and politely, chewing and swallowing each piece before looking for another. Together, the pair was the picture of contentment.

There is a large number of atypicals this clutch. S'kor noted to his dragon. The flight had been abnormally short due to the state of the gold's rider. Was that the reason for so many? He pondered that as he watched the crimson Impress and the black take the stage.
They will be good dragons Mine. Scarath rumbled approvingly. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Optheli couldn't help but catch her breath at the lovely crimson. Her markings were absolutely stellar. And that black! He was holding them all in suspence while he tried to make his choice. Boys or girls?
