So... We DO get the son of my favorite lord! And he's named Paris too, like Ike was in PoR's development! Hee, mythology gags!
Also, Ike and Elincia had something going on in PoR. Even just a little. There was something there. At least I think there was. But really, I don't care. I'm not one to tout the fact that Ike has a blood son as any sort of proof of anything, especially since DLC isn't exactly canon. Instead, I think it is just really cool to have Ike's son as a real deal character, and perhaps get some expansion on Tellius and the aftermath and such from him. Though I will suspect that the mother will remain nebulous. I wonder if they'll do anything else like this! As for Ike's Sexuality, I feel like a lot of that is still up to interpretation. I don't really think about that, since I'm not really the type to think about romance in games. I just bring it up because as a Tumblr lurker, I couldn't help but notice FE fans flipping their s**t about Ike having a son and what it might say or not say about his orientation, and his relationship with Soren.

Maybe it's just because it's late, but that really rubs me wrong. Can't they just accept it without starting a freaking war?
It's not confusing in the least though. This is all straightforward. All the FEs being part of the same world is confrimed, and Ike's got a kid (or a grandkid, or something like that.)
Who he married? A Generic. Like seriously-- this is unless stated otherwise (This could be part of his supports, or conversations in DLC chapters (Like say LvD3), and yes, a reveal there is pretty solid, considering it IS Nintendo/IS giving said reveal.)
Oh, and this ISN'T the DLC. The Spotpass Gaidens are FULLY Canon (Like not even arguable, saying that because you don't have to do them they're not canon is like saying Lyn's tale or the Kishuna chapters aren't canon) parts of the Main Story. They're just Time-released Content. Paris is a proper character- part of the FEA canon.
Whether it's canon or not, I still think the same. Ike can have a son without fans, no matter what their paring preferences are, throwing muck at each other. I really love FE characters (For the most part, some decisions do get made I don't agree with, and of course I don't like everyone, but you know what I mean). I feel like shoehorning them into specific pairings or arguing about this stuff does them a disservice.

For the most point, I agree, but really, when stuff like what happened here occurs, people need to listen to the creators of the franchise. Sometimes, pairings get sank-- Like in this case: It's kinda hard to say Ike was gay for Soren now that he canonically has a kid- you have to accept this.
And yes, Ike showed no interest in anyone in the games. And as a note, the only woman who actually wanted him romantically is Aimee-- and he simply did not want that woman. (Watch, it comes out that Ike married Aimee and I'm totally wrong.)
Thus why it's a general assumption that he married a generic- which really fits his character actually: Ike didn't want to be involved with Royalty... Him marrying a simple village girl and having a relatively simple life is quite expected.
Now just the wait till he (Ike) shows up as DLC... (I'd put 1500g bet down that on that mission Paris will trigger the character conversation.)

Other than that, I agree with Tiki about whether it's canon or not. Either Ike really did get married and had a child or he may have adopted a child that have similar hair/eye color as him. It's all up to the interpretations of the fans. Heck, fans still make and support different pairings for Hector and Eliwood, despite there are many support conversations between the "canon" pairing (aka: Eliwood/Ninian, Hector/Lyn.)
In addition, I agree fully with Rath about Nintendo spying on FEF. I've been saying that ever since I read the article about DLC before we get to see the actually website. >>;
