User ImageSora looked up at Laxus's question on her well-being and then felt the sudden urge to look about her. Her she sat after having tripped down the stairs not long after receiving a mission to capture Kensei and immediately after Laxus hinted at having to kill Kensei should the need arise. The same Laxus was now also asking if she was alright. The familiar with the absurd. All in all, it was just too bizarre, like a dream... except this wasn't a dream. Honestly, the girl didn't know whether to laugh or pout at it all.

She chose to laugh, a light chuckle, really. With the two choices placed right next to each other, the usually cheerful blonde realized what a waste it would be to be sad about something inevitable. She put on a smile, smaller than usual but no less genuine as she picked herself up. "I'm fine, Laxus. As for missing information on Kensei, it was only specifics. Nothing large. Although I wish that it would have given us even just a general estimate of his non-physical abilities," she responded to the other blonde while thinking,

To keep the group moving, Sora turned to open the door and walk out into the main lobby of building, the small smile still on her face. Although, she didn't look at what was inside the lobby just yet (small stuff like that was the reason why she kept on tripping and falling). Instead, she popped a candy into her mouth as she turned to look behind her while walking. Once more, she asked Shikaku, "Sorry about all that. I'm a huge klutz, and yeah, it's probably a good idea to keep some distance from me. So, my question before, was I right?".User Image

Shikaku frowned, watching Sora. It might go unnoticed to the untrained eye, but anyone with any skill at reading a person could see that she was on the verge of a nervous breakdown. She must have been close to this Kensei. Good friends. Maybe even more. And she wasn't taking the news of his betrayal well. The fact she had to hunt him down probably hit even worse. It took a special kind of bravery, in his eyes, that she was pushing through it, moving forward even knowing she might not like the end result. But something wasn't right here. Why would they send her after him? It would make sense to send another chuunin, or jounin, with the same relationship, but a genin? There was something wrong here.

As Sora asked him her question again, Shikaku once more remained silent, giving only a quick grin in return. After a moment, he took one step to the right, slipping into a crack in the crowd. The lobby had filled in again while they met the Raikage, plenty enough for him to lose himself in the gaps. Even Laxus, with his ability to sense metal, though Shikaku didn't know of it yet, wouldn't be able to track him through all the interference from other ninja in the room.

Weaving silently through the crowd, Shikaku reached the exit quickly, before the others would if they kept walking after his disappearing act, and stepped out of the crowd once more, standing and waiting for them to arrive. "It'd be a safe guess." he spoke as they reached him, smirking just a bit. "And don't worry. We won't kill him unless you give the order. Need him for questioning after all, right Laxus?" His smirk transformed itself into a reassuring smile for most of his statement. It seemed to him that she needed that confirmation. Some might see it as putting the weight of the choice on her, but he saw it a bit differently. She needed to know that it would be at her pace, her choice of when that step had to be taken, or if it was taken at all.

For the last two words, his eyes diverted to Laxus, eyes serious, all pretense dropped. For this mission to work, they needed their leader to be confident, and for that, much as he hated to admit it right now, he needed the other boy to back him on this.

" Hmm? Oh, right." Laxus responded to Shikaku. He'd actually forgotten that Shikaku existed. Something about how Shikaku was there troubled him though. Suddenly, it clicked. Laxus had absent-mindedly been keeping tabs on the child, but didn't notice when he slunk into a swarm of the hidden shinobi standing around the lobby. The kid was sneakier than most people would realize. Maybe he was worthy of Laxus' sight? Eh, Laxus would see just how helpful he was when they fought Kensei.

User ImageSora watched Shikaku intently as he disappeared into the crowd, even stopping so she could watch without tripping. After it became clear that he had disappeared as well as she could hope, Sora made her way through the crowd herself, careful at the start to not step on any toes and/or trip.

Although as she walked, she fell into thought and doubts, her small smile fading quickly. Here she had two skilled genin under her command. In truth, she felt that either of them would have been a better team leader than her. Laxus seemed to have experience. She was already entrusting Shikaku with a lot of the plan. Compared to these two, what did she have?

Sora bumped her head into the wall next to the door before realizing she had miraculously walked the length of the room without any incident. Rubbing her head, the girl listened to Shikaku. She nodded twice, first in smiling relief that her guess about Shikaku's skills had been right and then in absentminded thanks. It was good to hear that she wasn't the only one that wasn't in a rush to see Kensei dead, as Laxus seemed to be upon exiting the Raikage's office. Although, the word "order" in the second bit left the girl absent-minded. It had drilled into Sora the meaning of her position. She wouldn't be hanging back like before, waiting for someone else to set the pace. Things would be done on her order. She was expected to expect that. In turn, the other members expected her to give the proper orders. Shikaku had succeeded in letting her know all he wanted her to know while also putting even more weight on her shoulders. Great job.

Really, great job. Hearing something like this from a teammate was just what she needed from going all loose and running in with what little of a plan she had. It reminded her that unlike that last time where she had been all indecisive and such, she wouldn't be the only one getting hurt. It cleared her mind.

"Right," Sora mumbled belatedly after her nod. She turned to the wall again, dropped her hand, and then banged her forehead against the wall. She wasn't a masochist, but a bit of pain sometimes helped her get the view on her thoughts that she needed. Keeping her head leaned against the wall, she breathed in and out. "The team leader…," with eyes closed, Sora quietly recited, word-for-word, what the academy had taught her of the team leader's duties.

Then she fell silent for a while. Aoi had left before, leaving Sora devastated at being able to do nothing. What had she resolved then? That she would confront Aoi the next time the two met. There was that time with the mountain where her views on right and wrong were tested. What had she resolved then? That she would protect her village no matter what because that was what she considered right. Kensei… Kensei was as good a friend as Aoi. Now, she had the chance to confront him immediately. His leaving of the village put it potentially in danger. In addition, he had even attacked and killed an ANBU member. Whatever his reason for leaving couldn't be good for the village. Kensei was her friend so Sora could probably never call for him to be killed. However, now that she thought about it logically, she had nothing against capturing him. She needed to get her priorities straight and finally act on what she's already resolved on. Sure, her assignment as team captain was weird, but she'll just need to make the best out of it.

"…Shikaku, how can you disable Kensei?" Sora resumed speaking, "Or at least tell me how you plan to start your sneak attack on him." She had her serious face on. Although, it didn't give much of an impact. It was just a normal serious face, the kind someone might have while taking a hard test. It wasn't some deadly serious face that signaled epic combat and destruction to follow. Nah, Sora was too normal and civilian-ish to have something like that. Right now, she just thought that she should probably try and become more involved with everything.

Oh, and take the lead. Sora walked out the door as she asked Shikaku, stumbling slightly at the border between flooring and ground. She could listen and walk at the same time... mostly.User Image

In response to her latest question, Shikaku sighed to himself. He had gone into the meeting hoping to hide what few skills he possessed, but by this point was showing off most of them already. Ah well, it was still early enough in his career to where he had plenty of time to develop more, and he could hide those. "I was thinking trip lines." he answered, grasping the tip of wire sticking out of his gauntlet and pulling about a foot out to momentarily display to the girl. "If I can lay lines quickly enough, I should he able to trip him up mid battle. Especially if you tease him into chasing you through the woods." He'd keep quiet for now about his planned method for quickly setting the lines, though the unusual crossbow hanging on his back should give an easy enough hint. Combining his latest purchases, both from today and the day before, he had high hopes for how quickly he could set at least a single trip line. The only worry was whether it would draw attention to himself.

Falling silent after that, as he didn't have much of anything left to add, Shikaku flicked the switch to allow the wire to draw back into it's reel. Pulling on the other wire, he carefully began tying the end into a small loop, large enough to slip a single finger through. He hoped he never had to use his idea with this one, and certainly wasn't going to mention it aloud to the other two, but he wanted it ready, just in case. Who knew, he might need it by the end of the day. Especially if Sora decided Kensei was too dangerous to bring in alive, something he honestly didn't expect of the girl. But, in his profession of choice, he had to be ready to for that end eventually. Better sooner than too late.

Not my best work, but I'm going to ease back into it. Sorry for taking so long to get back in the game. Having that tooth removed apparently hit me a lot harder than expected. I only actually managed to get off the pain meds yesterday, mostly. (Still needed one in the morning.)

Trip wires? Sounded like child's play, but then again, Sora seemed easily tripped, so if someone could trip on nothing then someone else could easily trip on something meant for that purpose. Laxus seemed to smile, but it was more involuntary muscle movement. He stood there for a moment, looking up as he noticed the other two were leaving. "If necessary I can keep you from tripping over them Sora, or maybe warn you when they're coming up." Laxus said as he followed the other two. He had to start thinking strategically, rather than just vaguely. It was odd, thinking about working with others. He'd never done it before, between taking care of an entire farm, or right down to murdering his parents for selling his farm he'd taken care of for so long. They didn't sell it so much as take out loans for stupid expenditures to the point they had the farm repossessed. He shook his head violently, now wasn't the time to remember that. He had to keep death from his thoughts. Kensei was stronger than Laxus, probably the entire team in all reality. The prospect of dying was far higher than even the Sunagakure mission. Kensei not only knew Sora might not be able to stand up to him, but he held resentment for Laxus. So, that left Shikaku. Sadly, Shikaku would be something like a small speed bump. Kensei had already killed someone possibly more stealthy than the child, so it wouldn't be much of a leap for him to kill the child himself.

( Sorry crappy post. More thinking about how I'm going to play Fire Red. Idk if I want to use my team I normally play, or mix it up. )

User ImageAs she left for the forest, Sora nodded her head. A bit hesitantly, she took the lead. With time apparently being of utmost importance, Sora broke her usual pattern of walking the streets to the faster method of jumping across the rooftops. She was glad that Laxus and Shikaku were this supportive. Just being with others with the same goal made this entire thing that much more bearable.

Of course, she still had worries. She couldn't think of a way off the top of her head to get Kensei to chase her, especially considering that he was trying to escape from the village. Perhaps, though, she'd see something of Kensei's that she could use. Worst came to worst, Laxus could probably taunt him into a chase. Then, Laxus had made a very good point about how likely she was to trip over the trap herself. It wasn't a matter of noticing the trap, though. If she knew what to look out for, Sora would be able to see it... probably. The issue was that she simply wasn't the most coordinated at times.

If only they all had more time. As it stood, though, they had to deal with this challenge somehow. she corrected herself as she ,

[Enter from Gates]

Nagisa was silent for most of the journey toward the tower. She would point out landmarks as they passed them. She did make sure the man stayed nearby, however. She smiled gently as they approached the tower. "This is of course the Raikage's tower, among other things. It may not be as... showy as you would find in other countries, but it still serves it's purpose." She nodded politely to several passerby, though knew her by name, and lead Yamatano into the tower. While it was busy, noone was actually waiting to see the Kage, it seemed "Natsumi" had managed to deal with the mornings crowd quite effectively. "Natsumi, our Kage, is just up those stairs. Most of these peopel are here for more mundane business which is not of her concern. Applying for shinobi assistance, picking up missions, attending trial for domestic or economic wrongs. We try to stay efficient, and this is a big building for just one office." When they finally reached the receptionist's desk Nagisa chatted quickly with the woman seated there before adressing Yamatano again. "It seems she is not currently busy with anyone. It is a bit of a climb I'm afraid, we plan to install a 'tamper proof' elevator but that kind of thing takes time to build."

When they reached the top of the stairs Nagisa knocked three times. "Nagisa Aburame, Jounin. I bring with me Yamatano..." She glanced back at the sign in sheet from the gates "-Hatake, Chuunin of the mist."

"Come in"

“Those who dare bring harm to my friends, my village, and my way of life…”

xxxxYamatano was pleasantly suprised at the invitation to come in, not because there was no wait time, but because the Raikage sounded older than fourteen. He was relieved to finally be able to meet a Kage that didn't attend the Chuunin exams with him.

The first thing he noticed as he entered the office was the massive window behind the Kage's desk. Then again, how could he not, with it quite literally taking up half the wall space. From the office, he could see the whole of Kumogakure, and the mountain ranges beyond it. It made for a spectacular view, but to Yamatano's practical mind, all he could see was the fact that is gave anyone on the street a pretty good view of the inside of the office.

But Yamatano wasn't here to admire windows, he was here to see the Raikage. Seated at the desk, facing the door, was a figure clad in the robe and hat of a kage, yellow around it's edges, with the kanji for "Lightning Shadow" embroidered on hat. The standard dress for a kage in formal situations, but not commonly worn on an everyday basis. Perhaps the Raikage tried to follow tradition as closely as possible? Or perhaps it was a way of hiding one's true face? With his mask that covered everything below his eyes, Yamatano could certainly understand if that was the reason. While it was impossible to see the kage herself, the voice that had called them in was clearly female, and thus, dictated Yamatano's response.
"Lady Raikage, it is an honor and a privilege. I am Yamatano Hatake, advance envoy of Lord Mizukage, at your service." Yamatano bowed low to the masked kage, trying to appear as formal as he could with a large coat slung over his back.

“Those who dare bring harm to my friends, my village, and my way of life…”

xxxxYamatano bowed low to the Raikage, having gained nothing of real worth, but having made a good impression all the same. Pleasantries were exchanged, reassurances that the Mizukage would be here soon were said, and unfortunately, no further information on Zdura could be procured. "Thank you very much for your time, Lady Raikage. By your leave, I will prepare for Lord Mizukage's coming." With that, Yamatano exited the office, picking up his discarded coat along the way, and set out to greet the Mizukage and scope out the village.
