It was only when he had finished that Yin had started to pull away from Alex's hand on his back, so until that time rubbed his hand up and down soothingly, not really knowing what to say or what else he could do. He was waiting for Yin to yell at him, to accuse him of letting this happen, and he never did.

Instead, he rose unsteadily to his feet, and Alex reached out to help him, even as he pushed himself off of the ground as well.

Wait..he was..thanking Alex? WHAT? He just stared at the weremantis incredulously. No..nonononono! Why was he doing this again? Why was he turning around something that wasn't even his own fault and making it so? Alex was close enough to the other boil that he could still reach out and grab ahold of him, but he refrained, worried that after what he may have been through with the two ghouls, it would just make things worse.

"....Yin, you -you aren't leaving! You can't...why would you?" As Yin inched away from him, he took a step towards him, hand raising.

"Please don't leave, Yin." He knew that if Yin ran, there was no way he could catch him...though he wasn't so sure the other boil could get too far with no money for a train ticket.

"This was all my fault. I shouldn't have..." Alex didn't think it was even possible he could cry, but he at least felt like he should be crying, the way his chest and throat were constricting, the way his tongue suddenly felt too thick for his mouth. This was all Alex's fault, and Yin was going to leave. It was the most awful thing he could imagine.

"If you leave, I'm leaving with you." Is what he finally managed to say, blurting it out in a fit of desperation. He didn't want to be here if Yin left, he wanted to be wherever Yin was. "We can go up to my room and pack our things right now, and I'll go back to the school with you, right now, tonight. I've got enough money to buy the tickets, and we can go, ok? But you can't go without me."

Why in Halloween was Alexander trying to take the blame? But the taller boil seemed genuinely confused and upset. He could not leave him like that when the innocent zomboil was trying to take the blame.

Then the zomboil was saying that he was leaving too. Yin's eyes widened, confused and shocked. "No," he whispered, horrified. But Alexander just kept talking about going to his room and packing and going back to school. Then he mentioned money and Yin began to realize how foolish his plan was. "No, Alexander you cannot. I will not take you from your time with your family." He sounded fairly adamant on that point.

He closed his eyes, the memories playing through his mind as he confessed. "I...I was willing to do anything to get away from them. I...was even willing to use my fear on them, and I would have if...." not even he could admit that he had even failed at using his Fear at that moment. But there, the truth was out in the open now, and Alexander could see for himself how much to blame Yin was. Alexander was getting to see yet another horrible side of him, and quite honestly he wanted to be anywhere but there at the moment.

Alex was just getting incredibly frustrated now. But at least Yin wasn't running. That was the one good thing is that he hadn't ran yet. He took another step closer to Yin, feeling better if the weremantis was within reaching distance. That way he might have a chance to at least grab him before he took off, if that was even going to be necessary.

"You should have. They were trying to kill you. Who wouldn't fight back in that situation? I almost broke my sisters arm so that she would let go of you. I wanted to do it, and I would do it again if given the choice, but that doesn't make me terrible." he paused for a moment, then continued on.

"And you aren't terrible either. They are, but not you. Now, as I said, if you want to leave, then we will leave. Together." He said that last part rather firmly. If Yin walked back to the Academy, Alex would follow him, simple as that.

There was suddenly a faint buzzing sound, and a chiming noise coming from Alex's pants pocket, and he frowned, tempted to just ignore it for now. It was probably just his parents wondering where he'd wandered off to or something stupid anyways. But that irresistible urge one gets to check their phone whenever they have a message finally overcame him, and he pulled the electronic device out, tapped the screen, and stared.

Xui
"Hi, Alex! ouo I hope you and Yin Cang are having a good time! Anyways, if it's not too much trouble, could you pass on a message to Yin Cang for me? Princess Eva is doing well, and I'm really glad that he let me petsit her. I've attached a photo of her, in case he wants to see how she's doing.

Thanks, Alex!

Attached photo: princesseva-1"

Well...that was an awkward message to be receiving at the moment. Even so, a weird idea started worming it's way in to Alex's mind. If only he could Yin up to his room then maybe..maybe he knew how he could cheer the weremantis up.

"You must be cold after standing so close to the open fridge for so long...just, come up to my room for a few minutes, ok? I'll feel better if you do." He looked away from his phone back to Yin with a pleading look.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 12:53 pm

Yin's eyes snapped up to his friend's a horrified look on his face. No, he would not allow his best friend to do something like that to save him. He could not. To break her arm? His own sister's arm?

He would have done it for him?

Why?

It was not as if he was worth that. Even if Alexander did not consider it as bad as Yin did. "No you mus--" Alexander was talking still, telling him that he would leave if Yin did. Yin could probably outrun him, but he still felt somewhat weak. And what if something happened to Alexander when he tried to follow him? He could not allow that to happen. He was already ruining the zomboil's weekend.

Alexander had his eyephone out, a sure sign that he was probably trying to ignore Yin. And now he wanted him to go up to his room? Yin had to admit that he was cold, and really, how could he refuse the zomboil when he owed him? Again? "Very well," he agreed after a slight hesitation. "But you must promise me that you will not do anything rash again for my sake. I have...I have died before, and you should not risk yourself for me." I am not worth protecting. Now, all he had to was make it up to Alexander's room. Maybe the boil would let him use the lock on the door.

Ok good, he was at least agreeing to go up to his bedroom for now. That was good, and he could just ignore what Yin said about not doing anything rash again for his sake.

He'd do it again in a heartbeat.

So instead he just reached out to put an arm around the other boil, not even caring if it made him uncomfortable, because it made Alex feel better as he steered him back towards the back door. He didn't want to go through the front, there would be too many zombies hanging about in the living room right now, though he could hear that there were quite a few outside in the front lawn as well. There was a better chance of less prying eyes in the kitchen and dining room.

As Alex had suspected, the kitchen was still empty, and silent. His sisters had, hopefully, gone off elsewhere for the evening. He cast weary glance around anyways, just in case, but it appeared that the coast was clear for now. So, he crossed the kitchen with Yin by his side, and made his way through the dining room, where a few uncles and a couple of aunts were sitting around the table having a chat. They all looked up as Alex and Yin went past, smiling and waving. Alex did his best to smile and wave back, not trying to let on that anything was actually wrong at the moment.

It wasn't too terribly long before they were making there way upstairs towards Alex's (well, formerly Alex's) bedroom. Alex turned to Yin. "Just go ahead and get comfortable. I just need to grab something, ok?" he said as they stood outside of the bedroom door. "I'll be two minutes at the most." He smiled a little shakily and left Yin there while he pushed his way into his parents bedroom, taking out his phone again and tapping at the screen rapidly as he sent a reply text back to Xui.

Though the mantodae might not have been willing to admit it he was more than comforted by the cool arm around his shoulders that was doing all of the guiding for him. He did not have to think about where he was going, he simply had to keep up with the zomboil. He was a bit reluctant to go into the kitchen, and probably would never had made it through the door if it were not for the fact that Alexander was literally right beside him. Alone in this house? He was not making that mistake again.

Seeing the zombies in the other room helped a bit, and he found himself straightening up ever so slightly, trying not to seem like quite the pathetic being that he was. Still, Alexander had his arm around his shoulders, so it was slightly difficult to pretend that everything was fine, though he did lift up a hand in their direction.

But what was the absolute worst was when they stood outside of the door. Alexander was leaving him, walking to his parents room, and though he would be back in two minutes who knew if there was anyone on the other side of the door. Could he have not stayed to double check?

This was ridiculous. He was not going to let himself live like this. Slightly angry at himself he pushed open the door, stepping into the warm embrace of the heated air only after carefully scanning the room. He shut the door behind him carefully, closing his eyes and taking a deep breath before stepping into the room. He did not sit, but rather moved toward the other side of the room and faced the door, guard up. He would not relax until Alexander came back, and possibly not even then.

Alex was already shuffling towards the desk in the corner of his parents room when his eyephone buzzed in reply, still gripped in his hand. He glanced down to the screen with a small smile.

Xui
"D: I'm sorry to hear that! And yep, sure! C: I have a webcam on my laptop, so that should work. Just let me get everything set up and grab Princess Eva!"

Good, this would be good. It would be...a little weird, but it would be good. He tapped out another quick reply and dropped the phone back into his pocket.

He quickly began unplugging the laptop from the wall, gathering up the power cord in one hand as he grabbed the laptop with the other and made his way back out of his parents room and towards his own. When he reached the door to his room, he eased it open slowly, peeking around to make sure Yin was ok before stepping in all the way and kicking the door shut behind him. He would have locked it straight away but his hands were a little..full, at the moment. He shuffled over to the bed and placed everything down, casting several glances to Yin before going back to the door and snapping the lock into place.

There. That should make him feel safer, right?

Alex slowly turned back towards Yin, pushing back his mop of hair with a hand. "Yin..." he wanted to say so much, so many things that were trying to fight there way out and into the open. But this just wasn't the time, it wasn't right. Yin was upset, hurt, scared, and determined that he had done something terribly wrong. All Alex could do now was try to make him feel better, and telling him how he felt wasn't going to do that...it would just make things worse.

So instead, what came out was. "I got a text from Xui and...she sent a picture of Princess Eva for you. Would you like to see?" He pulled his phone out of his pocket and began tapping at the screen again, until he got back to the message from Xui. He shuffled over to Yin and held the phone out to him, waiting for him to take it before turning back towards the bed and the laptop, ready to get it all set up.

It didn't take long, a plug in the laptop, a plug in the wall. He set the laptop on the edge of the stand beside the bed and hit the power button to turn it on, waiting for it to boot up as the screen flared to life.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 2:48 pm

The doorknob moved and he was on his guard, ready to...well not fight if the ghouls were to return, but ready to get the earth out of Dodge, wherever that was. But no, there was familiar white hair and he dropped his guard a little bit. He was toting about something that Yin had seen other students using, and he thought that maybe he had seen one in Miss Danny's room, but he really was not sure what it was. Then he locked the door and it took all of Yin's control not to fling his arms around him and tell him that he was the best friend that a boil could ever want.

Even though the zomboil had expressed that he was okay with what Yin had done the weremantis was still on edge, and still uncertain about whether or not he was going to be chastised...or for what.

Then he said two magical little words. Princess Eva. And he was holding his eyephone out. Yin's hands were almost trembling as he took the small device, carefully cradling it in his hands as he stared at the screen, beginning to melt. Princess Eva looked so happy, and he was glad that he had left her with Miss Xiu-Ying. It was as if all the cares in the world were gone and he gazed down at the phone with a look of pure adoration.

Until the screen went black.

Slightly panicked he hurried over to Alexander, all but thrusting the phone at him. "I do not know what happened but she is gone." He hurriedly explained, hoping the zomboil could fix it for him.

Alex had been moving a finger over the touchpad, clicking things, typing, clicking more things...

And then Yin approached him with the phone. "Hm? Oh! Uh, it does that to save the battery if you aren't doing anything with the phone after awhile." He took the phone away and tapped at the screen again, unlocked it, and the picture was brought back to the screen. "Here." he mumbled, handing it back to Yin, but still staring at the laptop screen in front of him. A sudden bleeping-blooping noise was coming from the screen in an oddly musical manner, and Alex smiled as he moved the cursor to click on the green 'answer call' button. The screen turned black for a moment before coming to life again. Alex checked to make sure the laptops camera was turned on and then smiled and waved to the image of Xui he could see on the screen. She smiled back and was quickly setting Princess Eva down in front of the screen, giving Alex a thumbs up before walking off.

"Yin?" Alex called. "Come here." He scooted down the bed away from the lap top and stood up, pointing to where he was just sitting. "Sit down there, and say hi to your princess." He grinned, reaching out to take his phone back and put it into his pocket.

Yin took the phone back, happy that he had not broken it and happy that the picture was back. Princess Eva was so adorable. He was somewhat loathe to answer Alexander when he called him over. Sit down? What? His princess? The screen was glowing much like the eyephone's had and it hit him. The larger screen must have a larger picture! Thrilled he passed off the phone and sat down, peering at the screen.

And there she was, his golden-brown goddess. her fur was immaculate as always and she was looking off to the side somewhat quizzically. "That is a good picture of her," he said, and suddenly the image moved.

This was no ordinary image...it was a moving one? Like the skelevision? "Princess Eva?" he said uncertainly, picking up the device and moving it toward him so he could see it better.

"Yip?"

"Can...can she hear me?" he questioned, barely remembering that Alexander was even in the room.

Princess Eva let out a happy yip that answered that question.

"Oh Princess Eva are you alright? I have been worried about you. I was sure that Miss Xiu-Ying would take good care of you and you seemed okay when I dropped you off but I was not certain. Have you been eating okay? Did Miss Xiu-Ying brush you? Your coat is looking exceptionally shiny."

Princess Eva preened a little bit. She was unsure of why her boil's voice was coming from that bright box, but could see the faint movement in it and knew it was him. She made a few noises at him and then turned proudly, showing off her other ear where the demoness had tucked a flower into her hair.

Yin let out a delighted chuckle. "Oh that looks simply gorgeous on you. If you would like I shall have Miss Xiu--Ying tell me where she acquired it and you can have a fresh flower every day when I come home. I believe I have seen some in the forest that I could probably pick for you. That color of pink suits you perfectly, it is almost exactly like the one from your ribbon.

She preened some more, curling her tails in front of her to lay across her paws just so.

"Do not worry Princess Eva, I will be home in two days. I have...a lot to tell you. But that can wait."

She whined softly, her boil sounded slightly upset, and if anyone would have heard it in the boil's voice it was the rabo.

"Everything shall be fine," he promised her. "Alexander has taken very good care of me, and his parents are very nice." He skipped past talking about his siblings. "You would be amazed at how many could be in one family Princess Eva. There are almost as many zombies here as there were boxes in Miss Danny's room when she gave you to me."

Princess Eva thought about that, and decided to wash her paw. Filthy creatures zombies, filthy. And they smelled foul. Why on Halloween would she want to know about that large of a horde?

Yin had fully relaxed by this point, and would have happily babbled to her for hours, possibly even days, but then Miss Xiu-Ying entered the picture, waving at him.

Miss Xiu-Ying
"Hello Yin Cang! I promised to take Eva and Shu out so that they could play outside, so we need to go before so they have time to play before it gets dark. Don't worry about Princess Eva, I will take good care of her!"

"Oh...of course Miss Xiu-Ying. Thank you for taking care of her. I can tell that she is happy with the arrangement."

Princess Eva yipped at him lightly, reminding him not to leave her out. "Goodbye Princess Eva. Have a wonderful time playing with Shu."

He waved at the pair and Miss Xiu-Ying waved back before moving forward and clicking something, and the box with Princess Eva was gone. He stared for a moment longer, just in case, and then moved the device back to where it had been before he had picked it up before turning his attention to Alexander. He put his elbow on his knee and rested his chin in his hand as he looked at him.

"Thank you." It was simple, but it was probably the most sincere and heartfelt thank you he had ever said in his life as he smiled affectionately at the zomboil. Was there something higher than a best friend? Alexander deserved a special title for this one.

Alex backed slowly away, a faintly amused smile on his face as he watched his friend discover that the Princess Eva on the screen was not just a picture, but the real thing, able to hear him and he her. It made his heart ache just a little, seeing that kind of adoration in Yin's eyes, a look he knew would likely never be directed at himself.

He felt distinctly awkward, still being in the room as all of this was going on. He almost felt like he should leave and let Yin be alone as he talked to his pet over the computer. But he couldn't just leave. He'd locked the door so that Yin could feel safe. He could go and sit on the other side of the door in the hallway, but Yin wouldn't know he was there and it might have upset him. So instead, he just continued to back up, until his back was pressed up against the wall in the corner directly next to the door. He slowly slid down the wall until he was sitting on the floor, knees up with his arms resting on them in a very lazy and relaxed position.

Listening to how happy Yin was, even if it did cause the smallest twinge of jealousy, ultimately made Alex feel incredibly happy, and he was glad that he had thought to do this for his friend, and that Xui had been willing to go along with it. It was really quite endearing, how much Yin adored his little rabo, and how much she responded to him. Alex's pets were just as lazy as he was, and often just hid beneath the trash covering his bedroom floor. He didn't have anywhere near this level of dynamic with any of his own pets.

As Yin continued to talk, Alex just continued to gaze at him, lost in his own thoughts, not actually hearing any of the words that the weremantis was sharing with his pet. Yin seemed happy, and more relaxed, and that made Alex feel good, so all in all it had been a win/win situation. He barely even noticed when the conversation had ended, being snapped out of his thoughts by Yin suddenly speaking to him.

Alex just nodded in return, his smile couldn't have really gotten any warmer, "No problem." He shrugged it off and gave Yin a small waving gesture like it had been nothing, though now as he sat there he wondered what he should do next...
PostPosted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 8:13 pm

The weremantis did not really know what to do at this point. He was finished with whatever it was on the bed beside him, and now that it was silent his mind was beginning to wander. He did not want his mind to wander. He knew that meditation at this point was impossible, because the moment that he tried to concentrate on his breathing he felt the ghost of a skeletal hand crushing his. His hand twinged in pain at the phantom and he glanced down, noticing that it was beginning to bruise.

Well, if meditation was out of the question so was exercise, because his body needed a chance to rest, his stomach still feeling ill and a rather horrid taste in his mouth. He probably would have brushed his teeth, but that would have meant leaving Alexander's room, and he was not about to ask the zomboil to escort him across the hall. For once he wished that the zomboil would speak up and just....do something. Anything. He started to grasp at straws, trying to think of anything that the two could do together while locked in Alexander's room.

"Would you read to me?" he asked suddenly, not really able to think of anything else. That would be okay, having Alexander sitting right next to him would be nice, and the words would distract him. There was nothing pathetic about that request...right? "Maybe another story about Jack? Or...well something that every scareling in Halloween grows up with?"

Well, this had certainly gotten awkward fast. Alex stretched his arms out then lurched to his feet, feeling weird just sitting on the floor staring at Yin. Normally Alex would have been able to think of things to say to break the silence. If Yin hadn't noticed yet, he tended to like to fill silences with his own voice quite often. But all he could think of to say, with Yin looking at him like that...were not appropriate things to be saying to your friend. Especially ones that you didn't want to freak out at the moment.

Instead, he kept his mouth shut, digging his hands into his pockets and scuffling a foot against the floor until Yin broke the silence first. Alex wasn't exactly unaccustomed to this happening from time to time, but Yin always managed to say the one thing that would surprise him most when he did finally speak. "You..you want me to read to you?" He frowned a little, wondering if he misheard the other boil.

"......Suuuure, I can do that!" He finished with another of his teeth flashing smiles, his heart lifting. Yin was no longer talking about leaving, and he had stopped blaming himself and acting like he had done something horrible. This was most definitely an improvement over the situation that they had been in not all that long ago. He turned towards his bookshelf, pondering what he should read. He didn't have any more scareling books like the one he had already given to Yin, but he had some history texts that were a collection of different events of Halloween, and some of them did read a lot likestories.

He selected one of these now, pulling out an incredibly thick tomb and thumbing through the pages as he made his way to the bed and collapsed next to Yin. Right beside Yin so that he was pressed up beside him. He figured if the other boil didn't like it, he could always move over a bit. "I think you already learned quite a bit about Jack...but would you like to hear more? There's 'The raise of the Pumpkin King'...or if you want to know more about Sally there is something in here about how she was created and then consequently suppressed by her master..."

He, of course, had already read about these things, so he would let Yin decide what he'd like to hear.
PostPosted: Wed Feb 08, 2012 11:26 pm

Yin simply nodded, not really wanting to think about anything else. Yes, reading was a good option. As Alexander looked for a book Yin scooted back on the bed so he could rest his back against the wall. The book that Alexander selected seemed huge, and he could not help but stare at it. Surely the zomboil did not intend to...

Alexander flopped down next to him, and once again he could not help but how clumsy the zomboil was. He had landed half on top of him. Yin shifted slightly but did not move away, this book might have pictures after all. The question on the other hand was a bit more difficult, but if he had to make a decision. "I believe the book that you located for me talks about Jack, so the story of his rise as the Pumpkin King may be in it already. I do not believe that there is a chapter for Mistress Sally though. So perhaps a story about her?"

The zomboil did not feel quite as bad pressed up against him now that they were in a warm room, but he could not help but wonder how the boil could stand to be that cold all of the time. Yes, his mind truly was trying to think about anything other than what happened earlier.

"Ok, Sally it is then!" He smiled both outward and inwardly. Outwardly because he was almost always smiling. Inwardly because Yin, while having shifted slightly, had not actually moved away from Alex to put space in between them. It was a little warmer in the room then he was used to, and being pressed up against the heat of Yin's body only made that sensation all the worse, but he figured he could bare it.

He found the page he was looking for when his phone suddenly started vibrating in his pocket again with a muffled chime. He frowned, and placed the book down on Yin's lap.

"Just a second..." He said, while digging in his pocket to pull out his phone once again, wondering if maybe he was receiving another text from Xui. He tapped at the screen a couple times, and then pursed his lips. It was from Michi, inviting him over for a LAN party. He thought he'd already told her that he was going away for the weekend, but apparently he either hadn't bothered, or she had forgotten. He moved his thumb over the screen rapidly to reply to the text she'd sent, not really thinking too much of the contents since he was thinking more about how nice it was to be alone in his room with Yin once again.

Once he was finished with that, he dropped the phone on the bed beside him, figuring he should just keep it out in case he got another message in the next few minutes, then lifted the book off of Yin's lap once again. "Sorry about that..I guess there's a party going on back at the school.." He explained before continuing

"Ok, so it all started back in---" He began to read the history of Sally, and her creator, Doctor Finklestein.
