Bowling starts here =3

Rime entered the bowling alley, with Alida in one arm, smiling happily and craning her neck to see everything. Avery was under the other, legs dangling behind, arms crossed in front, and scowling darkly. Rime had forced him to put on a shirt and socks and shoes for this outing, and he hadn't been happy about it.

Rime was sure that would change soon, though. "One adult, two children, please. Size 10 women's shoes for myself, and size 9 child for Avery, size 11 child for Alida."

The man put three pairs of shoes on the counter while Rime set the children down so she could pay. Alida stayed close, her wings fluttering excitedly as she looked about. Avery, though, clung to Rime's leg, not scowling anymore, but looking around the same way as Alida.

"This way, kids, let's put on the bowling shoes."

Avery made a face. "They got clothes for bowling? That's dumb!"

Alida wrote, You don't even know what bowling is. Stop complaining.

Avery stared blankly at the writing, puzzling it out slowly. Then, "HEY! I do, too! It's, uh... well... What is it?"

You take a ball, and roll it down the lane, and it hits those pins at the other end. You count up the ones knocked down, and you do it many times. Whoever knocks down the most at the end, wins.

"Oh. Why do we need shoes."

That, Alida couldn't answer, and they both looked at Rime.

"So you don't stick when you're on the wood." She smiled at them both.

Once they had their shoes on, and the balls picked, Rime led them down to the assigned lane, and demonstrated how to roll the ball.

"Okay, go on, you try. That was my turn." She sighed, "I'm not all that good at this game. I only got 6 of them...

It was now Avery's turn, and he picked up the heavy ball with both hands, and rolled it as best he could down the lane, knocking down 4 of the pins. "Aw..." That had been his last ball that time, and had managed to get 8 of them knocked over. He returned to his chair as Colette was making her way over.

Alida waved happily and smiled at Colette as she approached. Yay! Colette's here!

Avery blinked as the young girl came up to him, and looked at her hand. Then he smiled and took her hand, shaking it like he'd seen Rime to a couple of times.

"I'm Avery!" That said, he let go of her hand, and then didn't know what to say next. So he scuffled his feet and looked over at Alida.

Alida was already writing. He's my little brother. But he's an angel, not a demon. Still, he acts like a demon sometimes.

Avery puzzled out what she wrote and then shouted, "HEY! Momma, Alida's making fun of me again!"

Rime shook her head and sighed. "Alida, please don't. Avery, you don't need to tattle every time. Hello, Colette. Are you having fun bowling?"

Avery looked at Colette as Alida went up to take her turn. "But I'm not a demon. I don't know..." He looked up at Rime to see if she could explain.

"Well, a lot of people in the world think of demons as bad, because they read things that tell them so. Demons don't have to be evil though, sometimes they are just mischeivious, like imps. But the more powerful a demon is, the more bad they are said to be. The opposite is true for angels. The more powerful an angel is, the more good they are. But you kids seem to defy all laws, which is why they probably didn't want you in their societies. Their loss, our gain, right?" And she laughed, ruffling the hair of the two small children, much to Avery's dismay.

He immediately set to straightening his hair, shooting Rime a glance filled with annoyance.

"As to the game... well, don't feel bad. I had to teach these two rascals how to play today, too. And I'm not very good at it. Let's see... each of those white pins down at the other end is worth a point. You roll the ball down the lane, and try to score as high as you can. You get several rounds to score in, and it's all added up at the end of the game. Has Arafel shown you how to hold the ball?"

Alida came back, and the score on the monitor showed that she had knocked down all the pins, but it was only a split, because it took two tries.

At this question, Avery piped up with, "C'mon, Momma, please? Can she play with us, please please?"

Rime laughed. "Well, alright. We've only done one frame, that's a turn, so she can have my spot. I'll just watch and cheer from the sidelines, okay? That means it's Colette's turn next." She turned and called to Arafel, "Do you want to sit over here?"

Avery jumped up and down, happy that he might finally be making a friend. "Yay! Alida, did you hear? Colette can play with us!"

Alida grinned and gave them both a thumbs up. This'll make it more fun! Too bad Mom can't still play, though. Maybe the next game, if there's time.

"Don't worry about it sweetie, there will be other games. Just take the ball in both hands, and roll it like Avery and Alida do. When you're a little bigger, we'll teach all of you how to approach and all that other stuff. Unless you want to try now?" Rime looked a little doubtful at that last part, but if they were willing to learn, she was willing to teach.

Alida looked at the heavier balls the adults were using and furrowed her brow, then looked up at Rime and Arafel and shrugged. I don't mind doing it this way. I'd slip and fall doing it the way Mom does. And then wrote that down in her notebook to show everyone.

Avery read what she wrote over, and nodded, "I like this way. I can aim good this way!"

Alida winced. He needs to learn better grammar... then shrugged and watched Colette.

Olivander ran into the bowling arena looking around with a scared look, but there was a grin on his face. A few moments later, a little boy ran from behind poked his adopted fathers back. Softly but hard enough to feel, Olivander jumped and gave a cry.

Falling ont he floor he reached one arm up and exclaimed in a dieing tone, "Son! Why have you done this to me? I will be gone forever, and you will know it was the poking that did me in..." his head dropped and he layed on the floor, not moving. Bane giggled and poked his fathers head in curious motion. Seeing him not move he crept closer and almost died of laughter as Oli pulled him downa nd started to tickle him.

A minute later, they had been asked to bowl or leave so they decided it'd be best to bowl. Getting up to the line. Oli positioned Bane's Flaming Ball in his little hands and helped him throw it. Even though it was a gutter ball, Oli jumped up and down and said it was the best he had ever seen.
Bane jumped up too and hugged Oli. It was his turn now.

Oli let Bane help him hold the ball, so he would feel 'grown up' and purposly made all the pins fall. He told Bane he did it wrong and that Bane should show him hw to do it.

Bane gladly ran to try again.

Colette blinked looking twards the new banir kidner, maybe they were playing a differentt game as it seemed they were trying not to hit the pins.. she'd probably be better at that game..
She looke dback at the others blinknig as her ball came back through the machine as she was suddenly amazed.


Arafel laughed a bit taking the ball and handing it to her "once more and then your turns over ok?" she looked back up, and hurrie dover to recive the pizza.. mm.. pizza.


Colette nodded focusing and rolling again, thsi time the ball knocking over 4 more in the middle she cheered a bit "Yay thats.." she paused looking at her fingers "seven points!" she smiled happiy and hurried back to watch the others and possibly get some pizza..
