'Oh no! What on Gaia is he doing?!'

Adeline swooped down into the boat's hold just as the engine started, and Andreas took them all roaring off into the horizon. She swished back and forth along the corridor a few times, the light fixtures swaying above her. She wasn't sure which room he'd confined her in. If only there was some way to check them...

'...Oh, duh! What a birdbrain!'

Suddenly, Adeline was Adeline again - the elf, not the bird. She tried the door furthest to the left. It swung open easily - empty.

The second - middle - door was her stroke of luck. It wouldn't budge when she tried to open it. Pressing her mouth to the decorative panel at the top half of the door, she gave a few quiet but urgent taps. The sound was almost like pecking.

"Evie! Are you in there? Can you hear me?"

"Well, what enchanting I learned, I learned from my tutor. He wasn't an elf, so I had no idea who invented it. He never went into his pastvery often. He felt as if it was a waste of time to learn the history of techniques, and I would be better spending my time learning the actual technique." He said shifting a bit as they spoke so highly of these elves that he knew nothing about.

"In all honesty, I'm not sure what I'm looking for in regards to enchanting. It's just a skill that I was always told I should have. Though I have always been a little...abrasive too it." He said to all of them as they were giving him answers back to back.

"Though not to be so rude, but your breasts wouldn't give me any seizures. Though you do see like the person who would actually set people on fire." He said looking over to Cressa with a bow. "It reminds me of a time when the son of the master, whose house I was staying at, lit a cats tail on fire on accident trying to light fireworks at night. It was not funny at the time, but after we found out that there was no harm to the cat we all had a laugh. His name became sparks." He said trying to keep the mood light.

"So in regards to that, I think Adeline would be better suited to train me in enchanting. However I'm sure if scheduling is a free as you say it is with her, maybe I'll attend some magic classes for cressa. Lighting people on fire may prove useful, right?" He said trying to please everyone's queries.

Evelyn’s heart was racing. The boat was moving. She was aboard the boat alone with Andreas. She began throwing herself around the tiny room—granted it was the largest room in the boat, but considering it was still part speedboat, it didn’t count for much.

Hyperventilating, she threw herself on the clear floor, attempting to lower her body temperature, which was rapidly rising due to her distress. She wasn’t going to cry. She was going to be alright. She had her magic. As long as she kept her wits about her, she’d be okay. Or so she told herself.

A voice at the door startled her. Was that...Adeline? Oh, thank the Overseer!
“Adeline!” she responded, throwing herself at the door. “Adeline, what are you doing here?”

Andreas felt instantly better once the boat was moving—like he could think again. What was his objective? To bring the girl back to her father—destroy any and all threats. Okay...he had the girl, right? What had happened to her? Oh. He had thrown her in one of the rooms. Why hadn’t Armin or Aloisius stopped him? Because they weren’t there. s**t.

Cressa flung out her hand and tapped Jessie on the chest, as if to get his attention. "You hear that? The boy speaks wisely!" she grinned, "I've found during my life that there are very few problems that can't be solved with a lot of FIRE!"

Gesturing extravagantly, her hand was suddenly engulfed in the hot, immaterial substance, like a miniature, concentrated explosion. It immediately dissipated - possibly only due to Jessie's quick interference.

"Yaaahh, Cressa," he said, clasping her wrist firmly like a manacle a split second after the flames died away. "You like fire, we get the point. It didn't need a theatrical demonstration."

"I quite agree!" Lorika gasped, her hand over her heart, "Do try and keep the flames to a minimum, Cressa - I know it's exceptionally difficult for you, but try!"

"Oh, why is everyone around here so boring?" she pouted extravagantly. "Can't handle a few tiny little explosions, the occassional ectoplasmic swamp gets you a bad reputation, and a little upturned furniture sends everybody's knickers riding up too high. Prissy, prissy, prissy! And people call dark elves fascists," Cressa complained, directing the last part with a roll of her eyes to Jessie, who chuckled. He'd been watching her histrionic rant with amusement.

"Well, I think we should get on our way for now, before Cressa decides to collapse the ceiling in protest against Lorika's dictatorship," he laughed.

"THAT is a WONDERFUL idea!" Cressa declared, "I think I might save it for later. Good day to you both," she said, inclining her head to the others as she took Jessie's arm and began steering them both away, "Atlae. Honoured Valsharess."

"Oh, be quiet," Lorika laughed.

"I hope she didn't put you off entirely," she said to Atlae as the elves retreated out through the hallway, "I'm glad you were so polite to them both. Hopefully it doesn't make you uncomfortable, having two dark elves on the staff...? I assure you, they wouldn't be here if they weren't exactly the sort of good people we value the most."

[For those who cant remember/never saw it in the original rp: Yahhh is a kind of exasperated expression that can be translated to "For god's sake!" Valsharess is the word for a queen in their society - Cressa is teasingly calling Lorika a ruthless dictator. AND ISNT SHE JUST : D]

"I followed you!" the blonde elf whispered back through the door, "You didn't think we were just going to let them drag you away, alone and unguarded, did you?"

She fought with the handle of the door a few more seconds. With a frustrated sigh, she finally pulled her hand away and pointed at the lock on the door. A small clicking sound indicated that the lock had opened - she opened the door and hugged Evelyn tightly as the young girl fell into her arms.

"It's alright, it's alright," she soothed, "I'll look after you, okay? And once this is all over, you can come back to the Temple safe and sound and everything will be just like before."

With a sudden, wary glance back over her shoulder, Adeline ushered the girl back into the room. "Quickly, get back inside," she said, shutting and locking the door behind her, "I don't want to know what that horrid man would do to us if he found us out there. Are you okay...?"

Atlae waved them off as they left. They were an odd pair, He did learn some things about himself though. Cressa called Jessie and herself dark elves. At least he had a name. He could tell that it would be a bigger deal than he thought to reveal himself though. There are two of them, and both seem to have special conditions to stay here.

Turning back to Lorika he laughed a bit. "No, they didn't. They are very....interesting. To say the least. I'm not uncomfortable at all, dark elf or human, we're all the same right? Though I don't think I would invite them to any house parties any time soon. If anything I'm more interested in being here now, I'm sure I will learn a great many things." He said more to himself than to her

"I'm so pleased you're not the prejudiced sort. Racism is nothing but ignorance," the priestess said firmly, "People fear the underground races in particular, because their lifestyle and their environment is so very different to our own. If only they'd look a little close, they'd find a rich and fascinating cultural heritage. Since you're going to be learning from Jessie, and possibly Cressa too, it might be a good idea to ask them about it. There's nothing they can't teach you."

Her voice had lapsed into a conversational tone. "Our membership is very diverse, you know. Everyone has a fascinating story to tell of where they came from. We've had a handful of part-demons, and there are quite a few catpeople - erm, the correct term is felids - on our staff, and one of our members used to be a plant..."

She led Atlae out around the canteen and into the spellcasting teaching rooms. They were deserted, seeing as classes were cancelled, but even with people in them they were spacious and airy, with the walls opposite the doors made totally of glass, looking out onto part of the flower garden and, further off, the beach. They stopped in next at the enchanting center - the decor in here was less practical, more stylish. The fixtures were silver, and intricately detailed. Much of the middle part of the room was taken up by the series of crystals which powered, and thus upheld, all of the enchantments used in the construction of the Temple.

Lorika peeked around the partition that separated Adeline's "office" area from the main part of the room, and then returned to Atlae. "Strange - Adeline's not here right now. Ah well, I'm sure we'll run into her later."

Evelyn held onto Adeline with all her might. “I’m okay, I’m okay…but…oh, Overseer, you shouldn’t be here. You shouldn’t get mixed up in this whole thing, Adeline! Oh, dear, oh, dear, oh, dear!” Her head shook rapidly, as she hugged the elf.

Andreas turned the boat and started driving back to shore. Alright, slow down…slow down…don’t crash into the shore…DAMMIT, ACTUALLY APPLY THE BREAK, ANDREAS, he screamed at himself. The boat slowed, but not of his own volition. On the shore, Aloisius stood, apparently using his magic to stop the boat.

Armin leaped onto the boat and crossed the boat in record time, grabbing Andreas by the collar and slammed him into the railing, holding his upper body over the ocean.
“WHERE IS SHE? WHAT DID YOU DO TO HER?” Armin shook his brother violently. Aloisius stood behind him, his hands poised to attack.

“Answer him,” Aloisius warned.

"All I'm doing here is making sure you're safe," she soothed, "Once you're not in any danger of being mistreated, I'll go back. Don't you worry about me. I can take care of myself."

Carefully, she guided Evelyn back towards the bed. "Now, sit down and calm yourself," the elf said, in a motherly way, "Breathe slowly. There we go. Look around you - you're in a nice room, with me, you're going home to your family. We're having a lovely, lovely trip to the mainland!"

The boat suddenly lurched and bumped as it stopped and the other brothers came aboard. Adeline looked round at the door, her long ears perked a little as she listened. She scowled.

"Ooh, there's no point being scared of these... numbskulls!" she said, as if 'numbskulls' were a very dirty word. "Now, you try coming face to jaws with a desert sandworm in its lair, and nothing but a half-blunt machete in your hand. That is the true meaning of fear!"

"I've never really had the luxury of judging people by their looks. I'm sure it will come up sometime in conversation. I am rather interested in different cultures" He said smirking at himself a little now.

"Well that seems pretty fantastic. I've never seen any other species, so it will be interesting to meet more people." He said following her as she lead him around the temple and showed him around.

"That's a shame, but your right, i'm sure we will. It would have been nice to meet her too." He said still following her.

"Julian, what are you....oh"

Nestor had finally made his way through the Garden's door, having been tangled in some trailing roots for a scant moment before breaking free. His first sight upon entry was that of his brother, on the floor, bleeding from a small area of his otherwise swollen forehead. It looked fairly serious, and before he had any second thoughts, he had hoisted his brother to his feet and began trying to work out what had happened.

"Nestor? There were staff, and they probably noticed me and so I ran to the door but it closed and I ran right into it and MY HEAD HURTS!" This last trailed into another large screech of childlike proportions before Nestor managed to clamp his mouth shut.

"Alright, do you think you can make it home? That looks like some bruise..." Nestor said with normally-absent brotherly care.

"P-probably not. It hurts a lot, and I can barely stand even with you helping me" Julian responded between grimaces of pain. "Don't they have a hospital here? Do you think that they could fix it?"

"Hmm......well, its worth a shot. I'll get you up there, c'mon." replied the older as he began half-helping, half-dragging his brother up the stairs to this 'infirmary' place. The fun of the day was effectively over at this point, and all thoughts of stealth were forgotten.

'And what happened to those Staff he saw....did they really ignore a screaming child like that, or maybe they just couldn't hear him? They SHOULD have heard him, I could hear him plain as day outside...they must have some special earplugs or something, either that, or they're jerks.....'

A lady in bright, punky clothes with wild, flying blue streaks in her hair appeared at the top of the stairs as the boys made their ascent.

"Aw! Did you hurt yourself?" she said, coming down to meet them. "Stand still. I thought I heard someone yelling down here."

She reached out to touch him on the head. "You really bumped yourself there. Hold still - I'm just going to heal you."

The palm of her hand glowed where she touched him. Healing often produced a sensation - for most, it was a tickling feeling. Lorika's produced a heady feeling, or euphoria. But Lacine's was unusually gentle, with no aftereffects. It was as if an invisible hand had just swept over and lifted away the pain. When she took her own hand away, the bruise, sweeling and cut were all gone.

"There you go. That should prevent any concussion, too... but you might wanna clean that blood away. Do you want me to take you boys to the bathroom...?"

About 11 a.m.~

After a few warm-up songs, the musician found herself bored and decided she wanted to play something else. But exactly what she wasn't sure. She wasn't quite ready to play her new composition; her fingers just didn't feel right yet. So instead she took to writing the rest of the composition--still stored inside her head--onto the sheet of paper in her music book she'd started it on.

As she wrote the notes down, the composer realized she felt a little strange. It was as though she actually wanted some...company. No, that wasn't it...or was it? As much as she usually tried to avoid confrontations, she didn't despise people; back where she used to live she'd had a few friends. The problem was, people always refused to look beyond the edges of their noses. They never wanted to look any deeper. So she faded into the shadows, truly known by only her family and those friends who dared to get close to her.

The girl finished writing the music down and stood up from the piano. Walking over to the window, she stared out at the beautiful scenery. It reminded her of the stories her mother used to tell her about her parents' wedding day. One day when the girl was still a child, she'd even stumbled upon her parents' wedding video. She fondly remembered an open-air church, a beautiful day, and a beautiful wedding song....

"Such lovely views...I'm so glad I found my way here," she said to herself.

Suddenly feeling sentimental, she had an idea. Sitting down at the piano, the composer began to play a melody that had been around for generations. She played softly yet quickly, with respect to the original piece but with her own style added in for uniqueness.

It was Canon in D.

[Same timescale as TRG - later in the morning]

Jessie reached up and effortlessly snatched a large, heavy tome out of the air as it came plummeting down towards him. "I swear, if you try and drop another of these on my head..."

"What will you do?~" his usual companion teased, floating back and forth along the aisle just above his head. She turned around in the air to him, grinning. "Pin me to the ground and ravish me 'til I cry for mercy?~"

He reached forward and gripped her ankle, pulling her down several feet, before releasing her again. "Worse."

"Ohoho, I think I could handle worse~" she cackled, zipping off down another aisle and out of sight. The elves were pacing the library's tall corridors, sunlight streaming in from the enchanted glass dome above, enjoying their morning off together. Jessie plucked an interesting-looking title from the shelf and leafed through a few pages. A beautiful, familiar tune was drifting through the air.

Cressa came dashing back from around the corner. She floated back to the ground as she spoke. "Do you hear that?" she sighed "Ahh... I love this song."

"Yes, it's very pretty."

"It almost makes me wanna get married!" she sang, sashaying back and forth with an imaginary bouquet clasped in front of her.

"Well, don't look at me," Jessie replied, raising his eyebrow teasingly at her. Of course, this was her cue to whine at him.

"Why nooot?! Don't you wanna get mawwieeed?"

"...Hmm. I don't know. Maybe. Actually," he decided, "Yes, I would."

This conversation suddenly reminded him of the first time he'd been asked by a human if he wanted to be a father. Back then, he didn't even know what marriage or fatherhood was - the concepts just didn't exist in their culture. So it was a reminder that came with a sudden strange appreciation for how far he'd come, how distant he was from his roots, how humanised his perceptions were now. It wasn't unpleasant - just odd. He wondered in a detached way if Cressa ever felt the same way.

Maybe he would've asked her, if she hadn't gone haring off towards the music room. Gently sliding the book he'd been perusing back into the case, he followed her leisurely, and the two stood together at the entrance to the music room, watching the musician play at the piano.

Normally while she played a piece with sentimental value or one that she particularly liked, the girl would immerse herself in the music and become so involved in it her surroundings would disappear. However, on this occasion her instincts kicked in and this did not happen.

Such a strange feeling that's come over me, she thought. Is...someone watching me...?

Not wanting to turn around for fear of making her suspicions obvious, the girl continued to play. When the song ended, the musician paused a moment to see if she was correct in her thinking. To stall for even more time, she reached for her book of compositions and flipped through it, looking for something else to play. When she found what she was looking for, she moved over to the organ.
