Sebastian resteed both humans on the side of the road in plain view "Theres usually a jeep thats on patrol on this road in another 10 minutes so they'll be fine" then turned and started walking with her closely. "..... Humans aren't monsters, Anya.... they just have their own ways of living life... theres even some humans that are as kind as you" he spoke to her. he didn't say anythign else in the matter. Whether she agreed or not was up to her and he couldn't stop her anyway.

But how did he know?
Dyani watched without comment as Sebastian laid the two humans close to the road where they could be found. She believed him that there would be a Jeep coming to pick them up, which meant she wouldn't want to be there when it arrived, but she still definitely had a hard time believing that these humans were ... at all benevolent. There were so many questions in her head. Most of them started with one single word that seemed to define her life, always snaking around her brain with it's endless messages of self-doubt and cautiousness.
Why?
She wanted to say she was confused, but at the same time she was very sure of herself - that the humans had started it and they were the ones to be feared, not the other way around.
Dyani turned around after taking a look at the humans one last time (Why? Why? Why?), even though she didn't start walking. She was waiting for Sebastian. He had called her by her nickname again, which she was indefinitely aware of and didn't really mind, it ... hearing it almost gave her a feeling of closeness to someone else. Almost. Well, no ...
She momentarily remembered how he had complimented her name and she had returned the compliment, blushing a little despite herself at her ever akward mannerisms.
Hoping to deflect that sudden change in mood (from being so sure of herself ... to being ... so vulnerable ...) Dyani took a few steps forward, holding the pole device infront of her now as though it were sacred to her. It had power that she could only envy from afar, an invulnerable capacity that seemed to glow from off of it. And she ...
Just wasn't.

As Jack walked with Dyani he looked at her and spoke "So, I see you've taken a liking to that rod there" he chuckled "you certainly look like you do." he placed his hands in his pocket and his ears twitched and he looked back hearing a jeep approaching "Hm.. looks like they'll be there alittle early" he then picked her up "Sorry but I need to make sure we're far off ahead" he ran up a tree trunk and leaped up to a branch to the tree top and start speeding into the forest on the tree tops with her.

(It totally made me giggle thinking of a deer high up in a tree. She'd totally be like a cat, she wouldn't know how to get the heck down.)
Dyani looked back up at Sebastian when he spoke to her, not sure what her facial expression might convey to him. What might he see? Would he see her fear, her akwardness, the tint of embarrassment in her cheeks or the slightly stubborn belief that humans were to blame? She was looking back at him, looking for what his face was conveying - and it was then that she saw his ears twitch. She was already very much aware of what a twitching of ears meant, but of course she was taken entirely by surprise when suddenly she felt herself being lifted off the ground.
What on earth was he doing?
Well, right now he was ... running up a tree trunk? Startled, Dyani held fast to her companion - she knew the purpose of what he was doing, running towards safety with her in tow, but certainly the realization didn't stop her from being a litte paranoid. They were up so high! (Dyani took back every single one of her envies about seeing birds flying high up in the sky.)
What if they ran into a bear or something? What if -- a sudden onset of hanging leaves in her eyes cut her thoughts short but maybe it was better that way, considering that if she worked herself up too much Dyani was going to fall. And certainly, neither of them wanted that.

As He was leaping through the trees he looked at Dyani and chuckled "Sorry for scaring you like that I was in a rush, before long the river where the shack was came into view.

Dyani was in fact quite relieved when she finally saw the river and the shack - although she definitely would have preffered to see it at ground level. Being up this high was almost nauseating. So she held onto the rod Sebastian had given her earlier, as someone on a rollar coaster might hold tightly onto the bar for even the tiniest bit of leverage. As long as it was over soon and she could still safely claim that she was alive, she would be okay. She hoped so. She hoped ...
The doe's eyes were squinted closed in fear even as they finally approached the ground.

He made one final leap and flip and landed on his feet, "there we go, its all over now" he smiled at her and set her on her hooves again "You alright now" he gently patted her back "Hope I didn't scare you or anytihng"

Dyani actually scratched him on his arms, fearful, when Sebastian finally leaped and flipped back onto the ground. She continued to hold the rod that he had given her, but she scratched him. Her fingernails weren't significantly sharp or pointed like her hooves were, though, and when the doe realized they were back on the ground she eased out of his arms. The marks she had put on him weren't clearly visible, not having been completely deliberate - it was a reaction that some just happened to display when they were scared of something. But since she already knew what she had done she murmured a very soft "Sorry" as her gaze stayed briefly on his arms.
He patted her back just then, and as comforting a gesture as it was she was still a little startled by it. Having opened her eyes after their little adventure, she looked at him. He was asking her if he had scared her or anything. No, he himself had not - they would have been in far more danger if they had stayed around long enough to see that Jeep from earlier. She just ...
Well, it was hard to explain.
But she shook her head briefly to tell him silently that no, he had not scared her. She had about the same feeling a person might have after getting off a rollar coaster - heart pounding, throat dry, shaking ever so slightly, and glad that the whole thing was finally over. But she was okay. Yes, she was okay.
She ... was safe with Sebastian. He ... was her ... friend ... she trusted him ...
"Oh," she suddenly said, her rusty voice breaking a little. "What ..." Dyani's voice broke for a second time, and, throughly embarrassed, she lifted the rod device slightly in her hands to ask him what they should do with this now.

Sebastian noticed he scratched him but it was no big deal, he wasn't bleeding or anything.he then smiled as she asked what to do with the rod, he then took her hand and lead her into the shack "I got plenty of those so you can keep that one, here I'll give yout he holster for it

Dyani let herself be led into Sebastian's shack, dully surprised there was no resistance from her as there usually might be. Maybe it was just that there wasn't much fight in her after her firsthand experience flying. But she trusted him.
She didn't know what use she would have for a rod that was designed to knock any nearby humans out, but she didn't say anything about it as he told her she could hang on to this particular device. What exactly was a holster, anyway? Seeing it would probably jog her memory, it was probably just the name she didn't recognize. With the given that she didn't talk much, Dyani simply just wasn't good with words. She looked down at the rod she currently held, wondering where it would go and what she would do with it if the need ever arose. Then she looked at him, and if you even blinked you would miss the spark of something that flashed through her eyes.
What was it?
In a blink it was gone.

Sebastian smiled and turned to her with the holster and helped strap it on her "there you go now you don't have to hold the rod all the time..." his eyes started getting heavy "O-oh no.." he turned around and saw a dart in his back "Crap- he fell to one knee as a human leaped in" there was a third? he quickly pulled out his stun gun and shot at the human incapacitating him. as he struggled to get up "That won't last forever" he quickly pulled the dart out and stumbled to the door "Go, get out of her now, that one had a beacon..." he shoved her out of the door as he hung on to it to keep himself up, "Run, keep the rod with you. the others are coming" he collapsed he was starting to fade out."

Dyani was slightly perturbed by the coldly serious appearance of the holster, but let that thought go and watched as Sebastian helped strap it on. What a strange thing this was, she thought. How on earth could she use this --
When she saw his eyes getting heavy, she was confused. When she saw the dart --
How could they have missed the third human? Had this one followed them, keeping their distance and pouncing in a time they felt was opportune? The definite possibility scared her, and briefly she reached out to hold onto Sebastian before he fell.
You said they can be just as kind as I am. You said they're just afraid. What do we do now?
She almost didn't want to leave him. Her heart twisted, her stomach lurched, and her hooves dug into the ground. But then he shoved her, and her choice was made.
She risked one look back at him, and this time that little spark was just a little more visible. Just a little, kind of like the sparkle someone got in their eyes right before they cried.
And then she ran for her life.
He said they were just as afraid of us as we are of them. But then why are they hunting us down like this?
Dyani stopped after a while, gasping for breath and leaning on a huge redwood tree for leverage.
And then she started to cry again.
He said they aren't monsters. That they just have their own ways of living life ... living life ...
Another tear ran down her face and she slumped down the length of the tree so that she was on her knees as she suddenly thought, What if he doesn't make it?

Sebastian was barely concious as he was flipped over as what he could make out a blurry figure was looking him over "Ah, him again... make sure this time he doesn't escape again men" he then blacked out as two other humans lifted him up by the arms and carried him off to a cage as another squad was confiscating all of Sebastian's equipment in his shack.

Meanwhile, Dyani was all but pulling out her hair as she worried about what was happening back at Sebastian's shack. There were so many morbid thoughts running through her head, each possible scenario outdoing the other as they barged their way into her thoughts. Dyani sobbed, her body shaking with all the fear that was coursing through her body in multiple, very much unwelcome chills down her spine. She pulled the jacket closer around herself in some attempt to keep warm as a racking sob vibrated her throat. It was Sebastian's jacket she was wearing, his jacket that he had given her after finding her in the river. Sebastian, her friend ...
How could the humans have done this?
It was maybe an hour, maybe an eternity or two, before Dyani regained at least some form of self control and stood up from where she sat leaning against the tree. Out of all the morbid and horrifying and petrifying thoughts she'd had during her sobbing episode, there was only one that stood out from all the rest. She knew she trusted Sebastian, she knew that he was her friend. But the question was, did he trust her too ...
... if it was true that the humans had planted a tracking device on the back of her neck?
(I think in my next post I'm going to have Dyani be caught up too. I like the idea of the humans having put a tracking device on her, and that they used it to find both her and Sebastian.)

Sebastian starting coming two he felt the wind and the sound of a jeep.... he opened his eyes as he was in a jeep apparently they were off roading still searchign for someone "now what are they up to?"
