François Bonnefoy
The Senior that Needs No Introduction~!

******************************************************************************

Francis nodded his head lightly. He could tell from a glance that Zeke was pretty tired. That must have been one intense battle to have made so many of the others so incredibly tired. "I'm ready now. Let's go." With that, Francis began leading the way towards the dorms since he knew where Roderich's dorm room was. He made sure to go at a pace that was comfortable for both Zeke and Chesa so that they weren't pushing themselves too hard, but at the same time would get them to the dorms quickly so they could both get some well-deserved rest.

Chesa nodded when Zeke looked at her. She had a feeling that he would be tired, which is why she decided to wait on him and Francis, just in case the Serbian collapsed or something. She bid farewell to Luz Maria and followed after Zeke and Francis, making sure to keep an eye open. While they had just defeated the witch, she was still suspicious of the darkness, and made sure that every shadow was just a shadow as they made their way back.

Glad that Chesa understood his look, Zeke turned to Francis with a nod. "Lead the way," he replied, fixing his hold on Roderich's stretcher. He glanced at Chesa, saw how she looked at every shadow that moved wrong, her glaive still held tightly in her hand. He sighed, knowing that he couldn't tell her to relax. When she was tense, ways to make her calm down were far in between... He followed after Francis silently.

The sound of distant footsteps could be heard as Slovakia dipped into the nearest alleyway- a shortcut was just what she needed; and boy was she in luck she thought with a triumphant smile. Although she was new to the town- not to mention school -she felt proud of her sense of direction, especially considering she was unfamiliar with this town.

Zlata stopped for a moment, suddenly feeling confused, glancing around the small narrow alleyway she had decided to take home. Was this the right route? She asked herself worriedly, before nodding to herself and forcing her pace to speed up- if she were to linger than she'd only waste more time, and perhaps she could find a helping hand if she felt she really needed one, for now she must press on she told herself.

Finally that sense of unease became overwhelming and she hurriedly rifled through the contents of her satchel, hoping to find a map of some sort. When she did not, she panicked, and there was one thing she did when she panicked, and that was run.

Claire ran through town, a huge grin on her face as she sped down the wide path. Even though it was only her first day, she was actually outside of her dorm and in town. Even if it got dark, she could stay out. Surely the worst that would happen is that she would meet up with some thug or something. But she could certainly hold her own. She felt certain that England and some of the other seniors had invented stories just to scare the underclassmen into coercion...that would be so like him.

Finally, the Quebecois stopped running...and found herself in a dark alley. She immediately felt creeped out, but she dismissed the feelings and continued to walk forwards...surely this alleyway had an end. If nothing else, she could turn around and go back the way she had originally come, right?

A sudden explosion came from the far end of the alley way, hidden beneath a shroud of darkness that didn't even seem to lighten as the light from the eplosion crept down the stone walls and the cement walkway. It resembled a small mushroom cloud that grew with a greenish tint, skulls crying out for help emerging from the top of the explosion as it grew and raised higher into the sky. A pair of heavy boot steps soon emitted from the darkness, along with a muffled coughing, before the Romanian ran out of the fray to safety. His eyes were closed at this moment, but with his superior sense of smell, he was able to stop a few yards from Claire before he lowered his arm, removing his mouth from the inner elbow that protected him from the toxins.

The senior's cocky grin returned, flashing his pearly white fangs at the young blond, in slight hopes of calming her some if the explosion and the grim imagery that was used didn't freak her out or anything. "Ah, hello there draga mea~" He stated in an amused fashion as he extended his gloved palm out to her, still trying to ignore the carnage behind him, although the faces of the skulls and the initial mushroom cloud were finally started to dissapate into the skyline. "I apologize if I startled you at all, it seems my elixir for eternal life had some rotten dragon's fang added," He glanced over his left shoulder at this time, noticing that the smoke was clearing, before a light sigh emitted from his throat and his crimson eyes returned their gaze the porcelin face of the girl before him. "But the worst of it is over for now." He wiggled his fingers again, offering his hand to take hers in a gesture he had been taught since he was just a lad. "I am Romania, but I go by the name of Anica Popescu as well, so you can refer to me as either. And I must say I haven't found a rose nearly as enchanting as you, so I must ask, and you are~?"

Claire froze in fear from the smoke and the skulls that appeared, her heart hammering in her chest. She was startled even more by the sound of the coughing and the bootsteps that fell so heavily before her. She wanted to run, but her legs would not move. Thus, she plastered a look of grim determination on her face and tried to put up a front of bravado.

When the figure came into full view, he certainly seemed to be kind enough, but she still did not change her persona. She blushed a little at the compliments he gave her, but she did not accept the offered hand. "Roumanie? Enchante. Je m'apelle Quebec, ou Claire Bonnefois. {Romania? Enchanting to meet you. I'm Quebec, or Claire ---}. Don't you know zhat you should be more careful with zhat magic?!?" By now she had calmed a little, though her heart was still hammering in her chest.

Anica couldn't help but arch his blond brow at the younger student when she introduced herself to him without taking his hand. He hadn't really met a girl who wouldn't put out her hand for a shake or a kiss, but then again, she was probably from a different side of the world altogether. Quebec? The Romanian suddenly thought as he curled his gloved hand into a fist and had his arm retreat back to his side before slipping into the pocket of his petticoat. "The pleasure's all mine Miss Claire~" He almost purred as the corners of his lips curved upwards into a devilish smirk once more. So that means she's one of Canada's and France's. Cute girl.

When she basically chastized him about his magic use, Anica merely turned his head and looked over his shoulder, watching the last of the smoke disappear into nothingness before he returned his gaze to the blond before him. "My dear, I was practicing this magic for centuries before you or any of your siblings were even a sparkle in your 'Daddy-France's' eye." He told her as he lifted his other hand to the top of his head, adjusting the miniture top hat that sat atop his head so that it wouldn't slide off. "As I told you but a moment ago, it seemed that an ingredient of mine wasn't as fresh as I believed it to be. And so, the spell ended up backfiring on me. But see!" He gestured to the rest of the darkened alley behind him just as the street lights began to turn on after the sunset. "I do my magic away from any important buildings or people, so the Diciplinary Committee can't be peeved with me. Besides, I don't think Arthur would be too upset if I told him I was discovering and conjuring up new spells for him to try out." He snickered for a moment, looking Claire over for a few seconds, before something caught his attention. "But I must ask, why is such a lovely flower such as yourself transversing through the dangerous streets alone with the sun down?"

Claire watched Romania--Anica--carefully, folding her arms across her chest. He certainly was charming enough, but there was something about him that to seemed to be a little oily. She felt as if she should have been afraid of this Nation, and maybe a small part of her was, but he still intrigued her.

She listened carefully as he explained his magic use, then huffed. "Even so, I zhink you should be more careful! Angleterre has known magic for hundreds of years, and he still messes things up! It is good zhat you did take care to practise away from people et buildings, zhough. And why would Angleterre not mind you using magic like zhis, eh?" She fixed him with a deep look, her initial fear of him sliding off into the growing darkness as she continued speaking to him. Even if he did seem a bit oily, he did not seem to mean any true harm.

Upon being asked what her business was, she blushed deeply and responded curtly, Everyone back at the dorms, including my brother Canada, keep talking about monsters that roam these streets at night. I wanted to come to town to see for myself what was so scary. You know, I think the headmaster or some upperclassman invented some stories just to scare everyone into staying in their dorms after dark. But I'm not afraid of the dark! I grew up being used to the darkness...it is dark for much of the winter, you know." Though she did not voice such, Quebec also hoped that she could prove to Canada that she could be independent if she needed to be.

"Ah see, that's the difference between myself and this Angleterre person--I'm pretty sure you mean Great Britian, yes?--is that even though he's been practicing his light magics for hundreds of years, I've been practicing my dark magics for thousands of years!" Anica explained to the territory as he waved his hand in a circular motion, nonchalantly in the air. "And the reason he doesn't mind for myself to use magic is for three reasons. One, because I take my magic away from school when I practice so I won't affect the student--although his has made a mess before from what I've heard. A genderbend spell, pfft. Two, because I'm older and more advanced, it's always fun to hang out with my fellow magic user to trade secrets and ingredients. And three, because... just because it's the dark arts, doesn't mean it can't be used to better mankind~"

The Romanian couldn't help but chuckle at his answers, since they were what he had stated just moments ago, but they were the truth and there was no denying it. "Ah right, the monsters." He mused to himself as he brought up his hand and cupped his chin. "Well, it's not a rumor or a made up story. People have gotten harmed by these creatures, I believe the last one to have affected the students was some sort of "Thunderbird." A supposedly-mythical creature that the Native Americans thought to be a messenger of the gods or something of that nature." He paused for a moment as he glanced up at the sky, just out of curiosity. "But it's good the hear that you aren't afraid of the dark," He looked back to her with a charming grin. "Otherwise I couldn't be friends with you. I, for example, love everything about the darkness around me."

"I don't understand why people are so scared of the dark. I guess it's because they have a fear of the unknown. But what's so wrong with diving head-first into something you know nothing about? That's how the explorers of old were able to discover most of the world! Now those were some manly men..." He paused for a moment, realizing that he was rambling and chuckled at this. "I apologize, Miss Claire, I was rambling on again. Here, I'm done with what I needed to do. Is there anywhere you need to be? If not, would you care to accompany me to dinner? I haven't eaten nearly all day and I'm famished."

Though she felt like she did not understand everything that Anica said about the magic, Claire nodded in acknowledgement. Subconsiously, she pulled out a pen and began to chew on the end of it as she thought about what she was hearing. "When you put it like that," she responded after a moment's pause, "I suppose it makes sense. Unlike Angleterre, you are practicing your magic away from people and you seem to know what you are doing. Et, though I zhink you are making a stretch, I suppose the dark arts can help others."

As Romania spoke of the Thunderbird, her eyes grew wide. "You have to be lying to moi...zhings like zhat cannot be real...zhey just can't..." She shook her head in disbelief as she processed this bit of information. Perhaps the stories were true after all? Claire shook her head and snapped back to attention, plastering a smile on her face. "Of course I'm not afraid of zhe dark...I often find zhe dark to be peaceful and comforting...zhere iz nozhing better zhen seeing zhe stars overhead on a clear winter's night, wiz zhe Aurora over'ead..." Her eyes took on a dreamy look and her accent thickened as she slipped away into her thoughts.

She was flattered that the Romanian asked her to dinner and she nodded, blushing a little. "Oui, merci! J'ai trop de faim et diner avec toi est une bonne idee! {Yes, thanks! I'm hungry and dinner with you sounds like a great idea.} Where did you have in mind?" She glanced around, trying to catch a glimpse of some place to eat.

Anica merely shrugged his shoulders at Claire's response, chuckling to himself. Who was he to try to defend the dark arts to those who have already given it a stigma of evil and satanism. Not that he minded people thinking he was a devil worshiper, it's just another hat for him to wear, although he was pretty certain that he would never remove the small top hat that was positioned slightly ascew on his head. "What? Me lie to you? Never, at least, there's no point in it." He said with a grin before he waved his right hand nonchalantly in the air, his left still buried into his petticoat's pocket.

"But they do exist. I haven't seen if for myself, but you can ask others for their testimonies and I'm sure that you'll get all of the answers you need." He looked upwards to the darkened sky as he let out a breath of relief before returning his gaze to the lovely blond before him. "I haven't seen the Aurora overhead before, I'm sure it must be beautiful~"

And then the conversation shifted once more to the dinner that he had just proposed she join him for, his charming grin immediately returned as he stepped forward, placing a hand against the small of her back as he pointed with his free hand back towards the main street. "There's a restaurant just down the block from here that sells worldly cuisines from all over. You know, Asian, Latin, African, French, everything you can think of. Would that sound appetizing to you, draga mea~?"

"I might ask zhem...I don't know...I still zhink zhe stories are just that."[/b ]Following Anica's gaze up to the sky, she wondered what his sigh of relief was for...he almost seemed to be looking for something. Claire smiled and nodded at the mention of the Aurora Borealis. "Oui, it iz really belle...somezhing to look forward to when zhe sun sets before 5 et does not rise until 8 in zhe winter."

She perked up at the mention of the restaurant, especially considering that it was so close. "As long as Angleterre or Amerique do not cook zhe food, zhen I don't mind in zhe least." She grinned at him brightly. This was turning out to be a nice evening indeed, so it seemed. Anica seemed to be pleasant enough, and he had not tried to harm her in any way, so she felt rather comfortable now.

"The skies in my country are usually cloudy and dark. There's an eerie presence amongst the clouds, like God is singling me out and blocking off my view from skyward beauty." Anica mused as he raised his right hand to his breast pocket, his left still on the small of the younger blond's back. He didn't fidget or stroke the fabric of her petticoat, since he didn't want to be seen as a creeper to the fair maiden. "But if there is a night which the clouds part, the only presence in the vast darkness is the slender cresent of the moon bidding me farewell."

When he was done with his rather poetical analysis of how the skies were in Romania, the senior brought out a silver pocket watch from inside the breast pocket he fished it from. With expert quickness, he clicked down the top button and the watch opened. On the inside, there was the inscriptions Monstrum, Diabolus, Lamia, which translated into Monster, Devil, Vampire in Latin, but only if she could read the dead language. As his red orbs flicked down the the ticking face of the small wound object, the Romanian immediately clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth before he shook his head, his blond locks loosely abiding with his casual motions. "Oh damn," He sighed as he clocked the pocket watch with a quick flick of his wrist before his slipped it back into the previous pocket with ease.

"Alas, meu fată echitabil, it seems that the hour has gotten quite late and regretfully, the restaurant is already closed. I must apologize though, Miss Claire, for my misjudgment. I thought it was a lot earlier in the evening that it presently is." He paused for a moment, removing his hand from the small of her back before raising it to her shoulder, touching her collarbone with his thumb ever-so gently. "I could, however, escourt you back to your room so I know for certain that you are safe for the night." He ended his sentence with another one of his charming smiles as he took a step to the side, facing towards her more now, staring into her lovely blue iris' with his own.

Claire shivered at the feel of the hand that was on the small of her back, but she appreciated that it did not wander as she listened to Anica speak. After hearing the picture that he painted for her with his words, she replied softly, "It sounds like it must be rather dreary in your lands then, no offense meant."

She watched curiously as the Romanian pulled out his pocket watch. The Quebecios caught a few of the words that were on the watch, but she did not recognize the language that they were written in. She wondered what the purpose of the pocketwatch was and was about to ask what its purpose was; however, before she had a chance to speak, Anica proposed that they should return back to the dorms. That, however, was the last thing that she wanted to do, now that she was already here in town. She shivered a little from the tender touch at her neck as she quickly thought of a way to evade the question.

"But, mon ami," the young woman purred back, "even if the restaurant is closed, zhe night is still young, oui? Perhaps we could explore zhe streets of zhis town, or go to the park and sit in a scenic place and talk? Zhe watch zhat you just had out, zhat is a curious piece. I would love to hear more about zhat." She met his charming eyes with her own, unwaveringly, as she formed her mouth into a sweet smile that young men normally found to be irresistable.
The air around her seemed to be getting cooler and a bit...creepier, but she tried to pay it no mind.

((I see...that makes sense. And I certainly do hope they get to have their date night at a future time 3nodding ))
