If there was one lesson to learn, it was something he should have already know. With a little ingenuity and determination, one could many things around to accomplish a goal. Even items that seemed like nothing could be made use of it one thought enough. It was an important lesson, one he had forgotten and he was wishing he'd realized that sooner.

Either way, they had caught their mouse! A grin to Petro, perhaps even an exchanged hi-five, Sheridan gathered his books and stepped to the front of the room to collect one of the parchments. He eyed it curiously, wondering about it's use before carefully placing it between the pages of one of his books for safekeeping.

"Thank you, professor."

Well, maybe the class hadn't been as bad as he had thought it would be. And though he still would have preferred a real math class, he would not have objected to another class like this one.

Prizes instead of grades? Not a bad sort of deal if you asked Seiji. Granted, he had managed to catch a mouse, but when he'd set the stupid trap he hadn't known that. Either the mice in this school are a fair bit dimmer then the jikininki had originally thought, or he'd just gotten extremely lucky with his little twig box. He was placing his money on the latter.

Getting to his feet he offered a high-five over Tomoko before giving Junko's shoulder a soft squeeze. Following the other students up to their teacher to collect the slip he was offering out to everyone that had been successful.

Sparrow lifted a brow. Prizes? How very...different. In fact, this whole class had been rather unorthodox, he supposed, but not in a particularly bad way. At least he had managed to catch the mouse, after all, and he had met quite a lovely new friend (he hoped) and gotten to catch up with Jove...who he still felt a little awkward about.

Sparrow lifted a hand to their professor, sliding out of his seat towards the door.

"My thanks, Professor Walker," he said, giving him a nod and a smile before exiting the classroom."

Aksaja had no idea what these pieces of paper were for, but hey. They looked interesting! So he nodded and accepted one from the professor before strolling out of the classroom.

It may not have been math. But this was BETTER than math. Totally.

Needless to say, Shun was very unhappy with the results of their trap. Not even a single soul had come by to visit their device. Oh how he hated failure with a passion.

When the professor said something along the lines of writing up a small paper to make up for it, he sneered at the thought.

"Let's go," he murmured to Mitsu, sounding rather unhappy.

Looking up Mitsu heard the teacher explain about the essay. So there was still hope of not completely...failing. Their trap had been a failure but they could make up for it. Or at least she thought they could until Shun spoke up sounding more than displease.

"B..but," Mitsu stuttered out. "W..we can make up for the trap." Mitsu tried to point out her little voice sounding frantic. She didn't want to leave a complete failure in a class. If they could just decide what went wrong and explain then it wouldn't be so bad, right? "I..I'll write it out." She offered not wanting to leave things the way they were. The lupine was willing to do the work all by herself but Shun had been her partner so he needed to be here right?

Pausing as he heard Mitsu speak up, Shun turned back and grimaced as she mentioned the assignment. He would much rather try to rebuild the trap and keep on trying rather than write stuff. But... that tone of voice she had was.. kind of pitiful. He had a feeling she'd freak out if they didn't do this.

"Fine fine..." he murmured while heading back, "I think I know what to say anyway. Go ahead and write your part first."

Mitsu sighed with relief when it seemed Shun was going to stay and help. With a nod she got out her notebook and started to write. She had to think for a moment though. What had been different between their trap and everyone else's?

Mitsu's Assignment
We failed because gaia is a fickle mistress when it comes to dice.
Looking over what we have done I can see where our process may have gone astray. The materials we had gathered weren’t quite up to par (thanks again gaia), we overcomplicated our trap, and failed to fix the trap when the device obviously wasn’t working out.

It seemed that we encountered quite a few stability issues with our trap. Possibly from having far too many rocks and nothing else to work with. There also seemed to be a lack of allure for our trap as compared to others. The mice just passed ours right by or it fell apart in the process of trying to catch anything.

With our current mistakes in mind a different approach would definitely be needed. We may have tried to over complicate our device when making it simple would have been best. Trying to make it complex was making it weak and easy to topple over when it tried to execute its desired process.

In conclusion, it would have been best to have taken it completely apart and started over with something else when it was obvious it wouldn’t work. I have learned from this failure and plan on putting forth greater effort in the next class so that it won’t happen again.

While he waited for Mitsu to write up her thing, Shun mulled over how things went wrong exactly for himself. Whenever she was ready, he went on and told her what to write down. At least it was faster this way, else he'd be spending far too long trying to make sure his written word made sense. Even then it would probably come out kind of horrible.

Shun's Assignment
The trap's nature in itself was likely too.. suspicious. Mice and their rat cousins are clever creatures and probably avoided it, especially if they had experienced or witnessed something similar in the past. Both Mitsu and I likely had to make it more discrete but that is not something easily done when we had four large rocks to work with.

However, if we had some sort of bait, that could have at least lured the critter to our trap. It might even possibly lower its guard and allow us to actually capture the creature.

Other than that, some way to camouflage the trap would likely have been another key to success.

Aside from that, we might have had more success if we had some other materials to work with... aside from rocks and vines for the most part. If we had known what we were building before hand, that may have helped as he could have potentially sought out items that would work more to our favor rather than taking random things and throwing them together in some haphazardous manner.

In short, better materials, some sort of bait, and possibly a way to hide the trap more thoroughly could have made our device a better one.

Shun paused now and then so that the wolf girl could write it down. Once it was all done, he shook his head to himself and took the paper to turn in to the professor, taking one of the slips in trun.

Mitsu gave off a soft sigh with the short essay completed and got up to turn it into the teacher as well picking up one of the parchments he had on the desk. At least she was able to make up for her failure. Maybe next time things would go different.

Prizes, not homework but prizes? Damien could get used to that he thought smugly as he watched Jove with their mouse. He knew the class was going to be very misleading if the previous confusion was any indication, but didn't expect to be done so easily with no extra work.

At least they caught a mouse without having to use angle sketches and calculating velocity. It was just simple. Simple was indeed a splendid thing.

As he sauntered up to the desk to pick up the parchment and walked out the door he'd have to give the professor a bow. "Nice class Professor." and went on his way with the little slip of paper.

maybe the next "math" class would be worth his time.

Tomoko took the slip she was given for successfully capturing the mouse and made a most gleeful face. Her tails wagged a bit.

"Thank you very much, Mr. Sir-sensei!" she beamed. Clearly she hadn't gotten his name (had he even ever said it?), but she was so full of proverbial sunshine that it didn't matter to her. She probably would have hugged the draconic man if she'd thought to.

Instead, it seemed class was over, the mouse was safe, and she had a new something something!

She should come to this class more often! OuO

With her ball of stars under arm, she went to sit by the door to wait for Seiji, Junko, and Jove.

When the semi-transparent mouse she held in her hand scampered off into the back into the bag it appeared from, Levi's tail gave a slight swish with a raised brow. It was amazing to see how the professor's of this school were so easily able to manipulate such odd critters (and plants). As the professor stood and spoke, Levi took note of Lizzy and a pink-haired boil with an interesting facial expression. In her enthusiasm, she'd jumped the trap making without checking to see if the petite ghoul was alright to set her own. The tatzel was pleased to know she was able to successfully catch one on her ow- er with some help. She had to wonder if the two were related somehow- what with the pink hair and blackened horns.

Levi picked up one of the parchment slips once it was her turn in line. Err- thank ya fer tha ... um math lesson, professor! Still not quite sure what sort of class she'd really come to, she decided that this paper could be something important... and was best to be held onto. Perhaps this professor had yet more secrets to yield.

Waving back to Lizzy, Levi exited the class to go and check on her room's crops. Rex had already slipped out of class before she could cause him any trouble; oh well~

Tybalt grinned again at the mention of prizes. Now this he could get used to! Today was turning out better than he thought. No math and on top of that, they got prizes! He was liking this teacher a lot already!

"Thanks a lot for the lesson, Teach!"

Charlie and Lizzy had done it. The pink haired demon gave a huge "HURRAY!" Before going over to get the parchment.

He grinned from ear to ear up at the professor and Lizzy.
