It was getting harder and harder to aim at this point. Unlike bare feet or even sneakers, hooves were not made for holding onto wood. His kind did well in water and dirt. This was not his terrain, and he felt himself slipping as he aimed again. His mood wasn't improved when a boil popped out of nowhere (where did he come from?) and HIT the squid. Now he was trying for third place. Really, he wondered if he'd ever hit this thing! Fishpants would wind up getting bored and taking a nap by the time they got him on board.
When Seiji arrived, he looked over at the boil, pulling his arrow back from the waters. "Bout time you showed up. Fishpants got thrown overboard." He said, watching as Seiji didn't miss a beat and started firing.

Hey! That dream had been really, really, really good. Besides, he'd gotten up eventually, and apparently before some of their other ship mates.
Winding up again, the ghost let his harpoon fly. Nicking a tentacle but doing little else. Then he realized what he was supposed to be doing with his weapon. Oh, so pinning the tentacle to the side hadn't been an accident, good to know. But why? "Hey Jove, why are we pinning it and not just killing it?"

"Seiji! Ah, good to see you! Fishpa- I mean, one of the students had been grabbed by the squid!" She felt relieved that there was more help now, so much so that she didn't even care if anyone of them had good enough eye sight to see the blush on her cheeks, having almost used Calder's nickname for the boil who had been thrown overboard. Pointing out at the ocean - where the adversary was lurking - she continued, "Nurse Cricket said that he can breathe underwater, but the squid might eat him!"
She looked obvious distressed as she said the word 'eat', but that expression didn't last long; no point being distressed, right? She managed at smile at Draven, feeling a little proud at the thumbs up; she had helped! She was soon snapped out of that as the boat started to shake again, her grip on the railing tightening as she turned towards the little group that was forming on the deck.
"Are the others up yet?"

Jove whined at Seiji's question, and made a motion with one arm, grabbing at air and waving it around. Maybe that would show the older boil what happened with the other student, maybe not, but the ghost was too busy trying to get his harpoon reeled back in to give a better description of the situation. It was a good thing Lizzy had been there to vocalize.
He frowned and took another stab at it. Literally.

"Wait, someone is down there?" Well s**t, and here he'd just assumed they might have wanted to save a few pieces to eat later. Nope. He glanced at Jove, then to Lizzy, then took a rather fierce stab at a waving tentacle.
If he had known the boil in question was the one he'd previously exploded pillow on would it have made a difference? Naw, the ghost would have fought to save anyone on their ship. Probably anyone period, probably.

Jove put a renewed effort into stabbing at the squid, but the tentacles were too big, and he was too small to do anything but make glancing blows. Why couldn't he have been a giant thing in his past life, and been brought to Halloween in a more capable form? He could barely pull the harpoon in after each throw.

"Apparently... He's that short, grumpy and unsure looking boil who was good at fishing..." She muttered as the ship shook violently again, her focus more on keeping herself from falling over the railings rather than on answering Seiji's question. There was a light frown on her lips as she considered the possibility of him being squid-food already... Ughh, they need to hurry!
She looked at Jove before carefully making her way to stand beside him, holding onto a length of the rope attached to the harpoon in his hands, "I'll help you reel it in, focus on pinning one of the tentacles!"

Calder was confused as to why Jove wasn't talking. He spoke to him already, proving he could talk. Oh no. Don't tell him that this boil was worse than Christof in that he COULD talk but didn't. What was with shy people who didn't just say what they wanted? It was really confusing. Like a magnet for support, Seiji and Lizzy went to help the boil.
"This squid sure isn't a old one either." It was just their luck that they didn't have a slow moving, elderly squid to shoot at. The tentacles moved fast and were hard to pin. Calder's arrow flew by and missed just when the squid moved again. "HEY! STAY STILL!" He shouted at the squid. Yeah, like that would work.

He started to wonder if he hit the center where the water was, he could just hit it's head and kill it. Deciding to give it a shot, he aimed for what was it's center and tried. When the thing didn't scream in pain and sink, he guessed that plan didn't work. It was worth a shot - literally.

Jove gave Lizzy a look back that read "I am trying as hard as I can," as he tugged the harpoon back into his hands. It was starting to get really exhausting, he wasn't sure how much longer it would take for him to run out of energy entirely, or when the squid might decide to jerk away and make a break for it. The thing was so big, why did it have to be Jackdamned hard to hit?
He glanced back at Lizzy, who had now taken up the rope as well, and tried to take a bit of courage from that as he threw the harpoon again.

The swaying was really making aiming hard, and he tried to find something to lean on that wouldn't send him flying off the ship. So far, all he had was Jove by his side and Lizzy who was supporting him. Two small people and one who couldn't swim. Yeah, that was a great option for a life line.
Sighing, he slid a few more times before clacking his way back to his original spot. "I wish there was some grass here." He muttered, taking aim and missing once more.

It was getting rather tiring, and as he missed again, he rubbed his shoulders. Even complaining was getting exhausting. Right now, he just needed to focus, keep his balance, and try - not that he wasn't showing effort.

"Who thought squids would be the ninjas of the see. I can't hit this beasty for nothing. I just want to swim out and hit it." He said, clearly confused why a big, lumbering beast like this was hard to hit. Sharing Jove's thoughts, the thing seemed too big not to miss. Broad side of a barn much? Still, trying as he did, he kept missing. It was getting embarrassing at this point.

Calder missed. He then looked to his harpoon, then at the squid and looked to the others. "I think I need a bigger gun."
