Bakura didn't say a word, he just lay there, slowly chewing on his lower lip. "Yugi...why are you doing this?"
"I don't mean like...What I mean..." Bakura closed his eyes. "Damn, I don't even know any more. I know you mean good, but don't Yugi."

"I'm doing it because I love you. Isn't that what people do when they love each other?" He looked concerned.
"Did I do something wrong? I'll stop. I didn't mean to hurt you. I promise." He whimpered, "I didn't mean to.. I'm sorry.. Please, will you still love me?" He let go of Bakura's hand, curling up and clinging onto Bakura.

"No, you didn't do anything wrong. And I know you didn't mean to hurt me...they all say that." Bakura said quietly, eyes still close.
He reached over and grabbed Yugi's hand, his hand rough while Yugi's were soft. "I still...I'm won't leave you."

"If I didn't do anything wrong, then why did you not want me? Did I not do something right? Did I forget to do something?" He squeezed Bakura's hand a little.
"I love you so much. I'll sing for you, if you want, so you can go to sleep. My momma used to sing me lullabies. I loved them. Did you love your momma, too?" He set his head back, though it was still on the pillow. He just looked at Bakura now.

"I want you, I do it's just that..." Bakura stoped when Yugi asked that question, his whole body went stiff.
"Did you love your momma, too?"
His mother who always smiled, his mother who showed him how to read cards. His mother, laying in a pool of her blood...
Bakura was out of Yugi's arms and on his feet in less than a second. "I...need to walk. Don't feel so tired anymore, walking sounds good." The words left his mouth so quickly they hardly made sense. He all but ran out of the room, feeling caged and as if he couldn't breathe.

Yuugi was confused, to say the least.
"Baku.." Yuugi got up to go after Bakura. He went after Bakura.
"What's wrong?" He asked Bakura when he got to Bakura, "What happened? Are you okay? Did I hurt you?" He tried to hold Bakura's hand again, he wanted to.

Bakura walked a bit quicker, he couldn't deal with this now. "Fine! I'm fine, just can't sleep. I...I can't not now."
When Yugi tried to hold his hand, he moved and opened the front door and rushed out. To hell with the warmth, the cold would keep his mind off other things.

"I'm sorry!" Yuugi called after Bakura, "I'm so sorry." He rushed after him, trying to find him.
"I didn't mean to." He whispered, now up-to-step with Bakura again.
"Please don't leave me! Please? I love you!" He said, grabbing Bakura's arm, "It's cold out here. Please come back with me.."

Bakura turned around quickly and grabbed Yugi by the shoulders, holding him tight. "You keep saying but what the hell do you know!? You love me? You want to stay with me forever? How long is forever!? Is it nine years Yugi!?"
Bakura lowered his head and let go of Yugi. "How do you know you won't leave? That someday you'll just stop living...do you know Yugi? Can you really promise forever?

"No, forever is not nine years." Yuugi said, "Forever is however long I'm alive. I don't know when I'm going to die." He held Bakura back.
"I'll love you for as long as I can. I promise, I promise. I just wish that someone could love me back. I wish that you could love me back." Yuugi tried to express himself clearly to Bakura, trying to show Bakura how he felt..
"I love you so much.."

"And if you die tomorrow, then what?" Bakura asked, his voice rough. "What the hell does it matter then? What about me? If I died tomorrow would you spend the rest of god damn forever loving me?"
Bakura kept his head down, not sure if he could look at Yugi. "You know what I wish? I wish you could really promise forever. I wish I knew that the hell forever is."

"If you died... I would die with you. I'd follow you so that we could love each other forever and ever. I want that, I want to love you forever." Yuugi smiled, burying his nose into Bakura's neck.
"Love you, love you, love you. I promise." He shivered from the cold and pressed his body against Bakura's, "It's so cold out here.." He whispered, "We should go back inside before we get sick.."

"You don't mean that, you just think you do. You get over it and that be that, don't sugar coat it." Bakura rubbed Yugi's shoulders a bit before stepping away.
"You head off without me...I'm not ready yet." He put his hands into his pockets, looking off at something. "Got too much in my damn head right now."

This had taken Yuugi off guard.
"Of course I'd die for you! I know I would.." Yuugi had still clung to Bakura until he had been pushed aside.
"Okay, I'll go wait for you. I'll keep the bed war for you, I promise. I'll wait for you, I'll stay up and wait for you. When you're there, I'll be with you." Yuugi smiled, trying to hold Bakura's hand again.
"I'll go get you something first, though, okay? What kind of cigarettes do you like? The best kind?" Yuugi wanted Bakura to be happy.

"Heh, poor little guy... looks like you've both had rough nights, huh?" Jou smiled. "And then it had to end up in a place like this. Don't lie...it's a dump, isn't it? We don't exactly play housekeeper around here. But... it's better than the streets, you know. It's home." The blond reached over and scratched Night behind the ears, then moved the same hand to ruffle the top of Ryou's long hair. "Jus'... try and get used to it. Once you do, you barely even notice." Except when one tripped over the clutter... which he did. A lot.
But he wasn't going to mention that.
"Anyway, let's get you two into a cot and let you sleep. I could use some too, after the night I've had."
