> Ask the knife for more information Kanth (xx) “This house is mine,” Said the knife, “At least, it was. I’m no longer sure of how to defend my claim in such an inanimate state. I confess, I do not remember much of what happened, but I was once as motion-worthy as you and your compatriot. Indeed, I was a noble demon, and my family only the best of blood.
I took to writing as a career, and was often in my study. I suppose that was where I was when this happened to me. I suspect that it, heavily, has to do with my butler. Oh! How you must think of me - how I think of me! I was too absorbed to see the treachery, the sudden, but inevitable betrayl! And now, here I am... I only pray that my family has not met the same fate as I. I did not often see them."
It is silent for a moment. "Ah... this is rather rude to ask a guest, but may I ask a favor of you?"

What the hell?
The center of the room bares an eruption of tentacles, which swarm toward you in an instant. You turn and try to run, only to see metal bars slam down, over the door. A tentacle bats you aside, into a wall. Something shrills in the center, down a gaping hole.
You're going to have to fight them. Attack!

I was definitely relieved. These beasts would help me.
"The big belly! We killed him.. I mean the Master and I together. Take me where the Reaper went?"
I needed to get myself some minipets as dedicated as these!

> Successfully Duel the Monster Manda (xx) $ Your mighty stomp makes the creature shriek in pain and withdraw, but it has its revenge.
You get pegged, hard, in the head by something. It just SPAT something at you!
It's a key. It's silver and... shiny! Whoo!
An off-key tune plays, as if congratulating you of your victory, and the bars on the door slide away.
> Go out the door> Ask to go the way of the 'Reaper' iloveyouDIE $ To this, the gryph simply draws a large arrow, pointing you NOT to the open door, but to the book case in the opposite direction.
Be careful

I really wished I had a weapon! I'm glad I'd talked to these beasts or I would have gone through the door most definitely. But what if they were lying? Did they know how to lie?
I step up to the bookcase and take a look. Perhaps something that looks extremely used.. or maybe out of place?

A key... ? What was this for? Examining the thing curiously, I head out the door to see what part of the house I've ended up in.

"Yes, please! Tell me more!" Kanth smiled as she edged slowly closer to the knife (but not too close) and listened with an eager ear. She did still have a bit of a soft heart, so of course she wanted to try to help!

Hey guys! So sorry for last night. The power shut down over here. It's been storming, so I had the comp off for a while. I had my laptop, but it kept spotting on whether it wanted me connected or not.
Anyway, I'm going to just leave the game OPEN for anyone to post their choices. I'll respond to them around 2PM EST tomorrow and tell you a schedule from there. Sorry again!

Quote: > Take Sir Rotgud anyway and go through the door Munches joy at being freed was slightly infectious, and despite being coated in happy slobber I gave a small smile. It was shortlived as I realised that I still had to carry on, and there was no signs of this little adventure being over yet. 'You're still coming with me, I'll see what I can do about your family, but injured or not, you'll want to be there when we find them.' I said, sliding the knife carefully back into my pocket. Looking at the remains of the door, I headed towards it.

> Inspect the book case iloveyouDIE You search the bookcase, tugging off books in hopes that one will be some sort of trigger for this 'way of the Reaper', but nothing seems to be working. With a sigh, you rearrange the books and stare, trying to think of a new tactic. There are a few books at your eye level.
'Knock-Off Solicitors', 'And They All Fell Down', 'The Humans of Baskerville', 'Doors of our Lives', 'Shall We Scream?', 'Be That As It May, You Are an Idiot', 'Open-Casket Funeral Parties'.
Too bad Rotgud isn't here. He might have been able to help you out.
> Free Response (solve the riddle)> Go out the door Manda (x) $ The door actually slides aside instead of swinging open, and you find yourself upstairs.
"Hello?" You hear, distantly. It's your partner, back in the foyer, downstairs.
> Ignore your partner and: (one of the below) > Call your partner and hustle him to: (one of the below) > Go through the slightly open door > Go through the door with the stickers > Go through the ornamental doorThe Laundry Room Sayuri_Nitta + ^ You tuck Sir Rotgud away anyway. He groans, but makes no further protest of you. Your partner tags along after you, into a room where there's a faint churning of water.
You see a few machines dedicated to the cleansing of clothes, an ironing board, and many hangers on a portable coat-rack. It's really not at all an interesting room. Ahead, there is door, and to the left, another. The left door is where you decide the hissing sounds are coming from.
"Hey," Says your partner, stepping toward one of the machines, "There's something in here!"
Before you can stop him, he swings open the door to the machine. Bad move- that something springs right into his face, screaming and hissing. It's a cat! And it's pissed.
"CANDLEJACK! CANDLEJACK!" Your partner screams, ramming into walls as the creature claws at his face, then springs! Right at you.
exclaim Free Response. Roll better than me to pry that damn cat off your face and send it on its way! exclaim > Yes, tell me more Kanth (xx) "Oh! Thank you. I see there is some decency left in the world," The knife hums and sighs, pleased, "I, Sir Harold Rotgud, am in your service and debt. What I would ask of you is simply this: vengeance. Something is rotten in the state of my manor, and I would find and punish the fiend responsible... if only I could. Take me with you, so that I may be of some help with you. I may not be mobile, but you may see for yourself that I am sharp and capable!
Find Ratwel. We keep his quarters in the far back of the manor. The quickest way there is just a step forward, I assume. If the b*****d is as black as I believe, I wish for you to strike him down with the fury of myself and my family. I would see to it that you were rewarded, handsomely."
"Now you're talking," Says your partner, his eyes glimmering at the prospect of a reward.
What a strange night this was shaping up to be.

(( Curious.. what happens if I can't solve it? ))
[[ > Free Response (solve the riddle) ]]
I stare at the books. I feel like I have pulled on all of them. I try to stare at the titles in view but everything seems to run together. Should I do something? Should I push something?
I look back at the Stationscary Beasts, "Any help?"
Maybe I should try something for each title? I REALLY wished I had kept Rotgud with me.
I try to knock on the wood of the book case, banging all over and hoping that maybe 'Knock-Off Solicitors' was a clue. I then end up stomping the floor and even throw myself down.
Taking a cue from 'Shall We Scream?' I let out a loud scream.. was I trying to solve the riddle or was it just frustration.
'Be That As It May, You Are an Idiot' definitely seemed to be mocking me right now.

Well this was rather an anti-climax, given that the room was guarded and locked I expected much more than a laundry room! I was just about to decide which door we should take next when my partner decided to do something very foolish and investigated a noise..the cat on his face would have been an easy fix if he hadn't ran around screaming and making it more furious. When it decided it had finished with him, it leapt at me, a spitting ball of fury. I tried to unhook its needle claws, intermittently being tickled by the fur and lacerated by its claws as I attempted it, swearing under my breath the whole time..
