Why are these lights so bright

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey rolled her eyes at him. "I know that...and there is a difference between arguing and fighting...." She said, taking her ipod out and sliding it across the table to him. She really didn't want to listen to it, she just wanted to get him to talk. "I just wanted to see how much paying for this meal meant to you...apparently not that much because you gave up on it so easlily..." She trailed off.
Mace put her elbows on the table and rested her head on her hands. "Giving up like that makes things less fun..." She stated aloud, mainly to herself. Right now, she was waiting for either Tyler to talk, or food to come. Whichever happened first. Don't be a baby

Tyler chuckled. "You're too stubborn. Even if we argued, in the end, we'd end up splitting the bill anyways, so I'm just saving us the whole entire effort." he said, picking up her iPod and casually scrolling through the songs, just to see what she had on it.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey already knew that she was stubborn, and quite frankly, she didn't care. She also liked to prove people wrong. As it was, she did roll her eyes at him as he picked up her ipod. "I changed my mind. I'm paying for the whole thing..." She said matter of factly. See how he'd take that.
Her ipod, at the moment, was completely filled up. She had just gotten a few new cd's, and she had been listening to them lately. Earlier that day, she had been listening to a song on repeat from The Black Eyed Peas' new album, 'The Beginning. It was Love You Long Time. So, as he scrolled through, that would have been the first song he saw. Don't be a baby

"Nice song." Tyler teased, turning the iPod so she could read the name. "That's sweet, I love you long time too." he teased. "And no, you're not paying for all of it." he said. "We decided we're splitting the cheque, remember?" he teased.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey rolled her eyes at him. She had just wanted to learn the song. It wasn't like she had listened to it because of him or anything. There were others she needed to learn from the same cd. Although, that had been her favorite. 'Whenever' was next on her list. It was her second favorite off 'The Beginning' cd.
"I remember, however, I changed my mind..." She trailed off as if in thought. However, she knew exactly what she was going to say next. "Either I pay it all, or none at all...." She stated, leaving that decision up to him. As for Mace, she was going to sip on her raspberry lemonade until he replied. Hopefully their food would be there soon. Her stomach was grumbling again. Don't be a baby

"No, you didn't change your mind." Tyler said with a grin. He knew her too well. With Macey, there wasn't any changing of her mind, never. "You don't change your mind. You're far too stubborn." he teased.

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey raised an eyebrow at him. "Whatever..." She trailed off, looking at him quite seriously. "You didn't comment on the offer, though...I said I pay it all...or none..." She reminded, messing with her fingernails moments before the waiter came up and handed them their food. It was a different one than the one that took the orders. Odd.
As it was, he did place the sandwich in front of Mace, and the burger in front of Tyler. "Umm..." She said aloud to the waiter. He paused a moment. "You switched the orders....I got the burger...he got the sandwich and salad..." She corrected, watching the boy's face flush with embarrassment. She, however, refrained from a laugh as he switched the plates and walked off before he could make another mistake. Don't be a baby

Tyler laughed at the guy's mistake, but not in a mean way. It was more of a, we all make mistakes kind of laugh. "Must be a busy day." he said. He smiled at Macey.
"I didn't comment on the offer because it's not a real offer. You didn't change your mind, I know you too well."

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey resisted the urge to roll her eyes once again. "Alright, it wasn't a offer, but an ultimatum...pick one already..." She said before depositing some ketchup on her plate, then on her burger. While she waited, she picked up a fry and began to eat. She was seriously hungry, something she finally realized once she started ingesting food.
Mace figured that she would probably finish with her fries within five minutes. "I need to know whether or not I should get my wallet out..." She said between fries. He needed to choose, and choose soon, for his skirting around the answer was beginning to bug her. Don't be a baby

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey nodded. Okay...so it seemed as if it meant that he was going to pay, right? Well, she shouldn't assume things like that. He didn't exactly say that, but not having to bring out her wallet would make her think that that was what he meant. She hadn't wanted to aruge in awhile. She had actually just wanted an answer.
Well, she kind of got one, and had begun to speak when a phone went off. It was a short ring, like someone had received a text Mace automatically reached in her pocket, but realized that she hadn't brought her phone with her. "Was that you're phone?" Asked him, picking up another fry. Don't be a baby

"Yep." Tyler said. He took a bite of his sandwich and swallowed it before answering. He was never quick on answering his phone, ever.
He pulled out his smart phone, one of those new Google Nexus One phones, and swiped his finger across (After wiping it on a napkin of course) to unlock it. He read the text message, then frowned.
"Whoops."

Scarlet Macey Blaire Macey nodded once. At least she was right about hearing a phone go off. She continued eating, finally moving on to her burger. It was quite good, however she was distracted from the taste by a 'Whoops' from Tyler.
She finished chewing and swallowing her food before she opened her mouth to ask a question. Wiping the grease away before speaking, she looked a bit confused. "Whoops what, Tyler?" She asked curiously. He had a frown on his face, so it couldn't really be good, now could it?. Don't be a baby

Tyler reread the text message three times before turning the phone toward Macey.
Hey babe, miss you <3 the message said simply.
"Do you remember my girlfriend, Brooke? Good, because I don't either." he said. Well this was awkward. He hadn't really liked Brooke but she was a girlfriend, so he hadn't dumped her yet. He'd have to, now that they were married, he and Macey.

If what she did remember was correct, they had graduated in the same year. Yeah, needless to say she wasn't very fond of the girl. "Dirty blonde, right?" She asked before returning to her burger.
