Oh for dragons ake would the little beast just impress and stop that wailing? It was going to give her a headache if it didn't impress soon - and she hoped it did, loosing another Dragonet would be terrible.

Galvanth was most distressed over the idea of the Black losing all of his momentum, as it signified that he was feeling very weak indeed. At least, so far as the Bronze could tell. He crooned and warbled to the hatchling, attempting to reassure him. The Black's efforts to garner attention had been successful, and S'raid had to give Galvanth a very firm mental nudge to keep him from bugling his encouragement. No, that would simply not do. Best to keep to the quieter tones, and not frighten the new baby.
Hopefully, it would Impress soon as cease that infernal racket. Oh, that squalling! It was worse by far than a human infant-- not that he had much experience in that arena. S'raid practically shuddered at the thought. No, children were most definitely not in his future, not if he had anything to say about it. Unfortunately, there were Flights and all of that, and sometimes pregnancy happened unlooked for.
But in that case, he would have nothing to do with it. Dealing with Galvanth's children was already far too much of a hassle, and he wouldn't even have to see them after he returned to Benden! Ridiculous creatures. Still, perhaps this would pacify Galvanth for awhile, and keep him from wistfully wishing for a clutch all his own. After all, he did have one. Come on, you can do it... the Bronze urged, interrupting S'raid's thoughts quite handily.

The black made to within a stone's throw of the boys before he plunked his dragonbutt down and eyed the boys, still essentially yelling. When his eyes met his, the wailing didn't stop they certainly resolved into a torrent of words that streamed through His' mind in a rush. -body is coming for me and she's all angry can't you tell Mine? Andeonmine why are sitting there like a dolt? Your Quonnoth is here and hungry and he can't go further... and and Yours is hungry, tell that person I can't smell from the sand, miiiine! I was only saying how pretty she iiiissss....Eirlyn was standing with a hand on her hip, already certain who the black chose when he plunked down and stared in Andeon's direction, "Shut him up and get going, Weyrling." There was a hint of congratulations in her orders as she jerked her head towards the tables. It seemed the trouble maker was already known to the authorities.

Andeon was just about t-
Wait.
What?
For a long moment, Andeon found himself staring. They had always been told what Impression would be like, how it felt like a sudden completion, like you had been living your entire life without some vital part that you hadn't even known you were missing. All those lessons, all of those words paled when compared to what was actually happening. Suddenly, he understood why no number of candidate lesson could properly prepare them for what would happen to them out on the sands.
Andeon was scrambling to his feet, laughing until he was nearly crying. He did not allow Quonnoth to lean against him, but scooped the small dragonet up in his arms as though he were some cherished pet and carrying him over to the tables. There, he sat the dragonet down beside his crimson sister.
I can walk, Mine! I can walk very well, and I am very hungry! Why is she angry at me, I was just saying that she's very pretty and it was very nice of her to help me. There is sand in my nose, Andeonmine.
And, of course, Andeon promptly stuck a finger in his dragon's nostril to clear out the sand. Because, really, why the hell wouldn't he?

So many lovely dragonets and so much lucky young riders. Young Ashmere mentally stressed to herself, maybe she would be able to stand once more before she aged out. If she was lucky. Lightly managing a smile she stood on her own two legs again and held herself tall. She was a harper, and a candidate of this weyr her weyr.
With one egg left Ashmere looked upward, as tears leaked from the corners of her cold grey eyes. Somehow she knew that her lifemate was not here.

Zeren grimmaced as the black Impressed, that pair was going to be trouble, he knew it, but he looked away and moved his attention to the last egg, his last chance... this hatching ... to Impress, he knew just how slim his chances were but that didn't stop him hoping deep down.

Kazvar heaved a sigh and slumped in his chair, glancing at Zeren. There was only one egg left, and he was starting to picture dealing with a disappointed Zeren.
He wasn't sure he'd had enough sleep to do anything but try and prop his eyelids open, let alone convince the boy that he wasn't getting ejected from the Weyr... so he stared at the last egg with a set jaw and a another huge sigh.
Show some mercy, would you, damn dragons?

Eirlyn, amused and happy to a clutch coming to a positive close, stood over the Tundra egg. She raised the shovel, brought it down... and the egg thunked but didn't crack as easily as the others had. An overly thick shell....? She pursed her lips and eyed the egg, obviously caught off guard. She'd swung at her usual strength, which was usually enough.
Huh. The egg wiggled as she watched and a sense of being appraised swept through her, and no doubt the Candidates. What? She smiled suddenly and grinned, looking up and over at Ianath.
Hmm.... She whacked the egg a second time... and a third, lighter time for good measure. The tail that slipped out flashed in the light for a moment before it was drawn back inside and Eirlyn thought she'd seen it flash silver.
"C'mon... " She tapped the egg again, poking it in the hopes of getting the dragonet to move. A muffled warble answered and again, that feel of appraisal swept over the crowds, as if the dragon was looking without actually even bothering to leave its shell.

As the Black Impressed, Faehari’s attention quickly drifted to the remaining egg. Her brow furrowed faintly as she tried to recall the feel of the egg. Another Black, perhaps? Wouldn’t that be amusing. A nice bunch of Blacks seemed the best way to give the Weyrling Master some gray hairs.
When the egg was finally whacked, Faehari squinted to try and catch a glimpse of the dragonet inside. Oh, maybe a Silver? A more serious dragon - and more respectable, in Faehari's opinion - with quite a pretty color. If she couldn't watch the Weyrling Master get grayer, she supposed a Silver would do just as nicely.

Rayenth gave a happy little croon, lightly shoving Na'uel so that she could nuzzle Quonnoth affectionately before allowing Na'uel to redirect her attention back to her food once again.
Hello, Quonnoth! You were very loud, were you afraid Yours couldn't find you? He did find you, was it because you were loud? Rayenth tilted her head as she ate, trying to keep an eye on her brother and His. And an eye on the Sands, to see what was happening next. And on her sisters, in case they had gossip to share. And... that was all quite a lot to keep track of, and she was still very tired, so she didn't object when Na'uel yet again turned her head back to the table, nuzzling his hand affectionately before taking the next bit of meat.
Still attempting to feed Rayenth (not easy, since her attention seemed to be everywhere else), Na'uel did turn to smile at the boy who had spoken to him on the Sands. "Congratulations," he offered, his usual nervous smile replaced with a beaming grin he couldn't help.

Mercy perked up as th feeling of appraisal swept over her - she'd been worried for a few moments when the first whack of the shovel hadn't cracked the shell but then the second and third whacks had produced something and a light colored tail had swept out..or at least she'd thought it was light, it was somewhat hard to tell from the angle she was standing - but there had definitely been movement and movement was a good thing right? Though..why wasn't the little dragon coming out? come on..come on she willed the little dragon

"The last egg," Moriath called to Hers, "I saw a tail I think, but not the colour! Did you see? Could it be another crimson sister?" One in a clutch was wonderful, but two would be fantastic! Atyped females could not help the position their superiority put them in, did not ask to be slightly above greens and golds, but so it went. Another one to share some of the burden with would be most welcome, but of course no dragon could ever be Moriath.
"I did not see," Kleos replied, a grin spreading across her features, "but it could well be? I don't think it was black, but maybe silver?"
"Mmmmmh... Well, better a silver than bluebrownbronze," Moriath shrugged mentally, "at least silvers and blacks are a little like crimsons, even if they cannot manage to be female." Males were males. The normal ones were really very stupid, but at least browns and bronzes could breed, and blues bulked out the wings.

Well it was down to the last egg and Anya wasn't holding out much hope on this one- oh she'd felt the appraisal from the dragon within but the little creature didn't seem like it wanted to come out, it was ..odd really, most of the time they seemed to want to escape the shells confines. Maybe there was something wrong with it.
