Michele was silent throughout the story, watching his own shoes against the sidewalk below them. He felt small and sheepish now, and he swallowed thickly before he nodded in response to his partners' question. He pressed himself into Dane's chest, wrapping his arms around him tightly. He choked back the remaining tears, fighting them. There was no reason to cry. Everything was fine....He was glad to find that he was just overreacting. "I'm sorry....I j-just....." He swallowed again, ".....I guess I'm just sort of paranoid and jealous...." I know that I'm not the best person around. Really, I don't think I deserve you. There are plenty of others, girls and boys, that would be better suited for you. But for some reason, you've chosen me....and I'm not willing to let go so easily. Michele pulled back, scrubbing at his face to get rid of any signs of emotion. Then he leaned forward again, delivering a firm kiss. If anyone had been on the street, they would have stopped and stared.
~~~
Mike slept particularly close to Dane that night, pressed right up against him. He seemed to need the comfort--the warmth of another body, the familiar scent of his loved one. Ultima happily occupied her own pillow.
The next morning, Dane was up and looking at the map while Mike was still waking up. His eyes were eagerly pinned on a nearby speck.
"Hey Mike, can we go check out the Ruins of Alph now? I hadn't realized how close we are to them. We gotta check it out. All mystical and old...one of the orbs might even be there!" he exclaimed suddenly, clearly overjoyed at his revelation.
Dane showed no signs of dwelling on their conversation from the previous night; as far as he was concerned, they have overcome a natural hurdle in their relationship.
"Hey, there's a research center near the ruins too. Maybe I've worked with some of those guys in the past. You never know," he said with a smile, turning to his partner. "Though I would prefer checking out the Ruins in peace than going on any kind of guided tour. It's more fun to dig around yourself." As he imagined the various ancient wonders possibly hidden within the depths of the stone temples, Dane's adventurous side took full reign. There was no dissuading him.
~~~
As they came upon the ancient stone buildings, Dane's eyes lit up. It had been a while since he'd had the pleasure of delving in to such rich cultural histories.
"I hear there are some weird Pokemon in some of these buildings too. Maybe we'll be lucky enough to see them."
As the pair wandered into the first building they spotted, Dane immediately rushed over to a wall and ran his hand over the engravings.
"Hey Mike, look! Unown Script!" Glancing quickly over the small plaque, he said aloud, "ESCAPE." Stepping back with a puzzled look, he asked, "Is it a warning? Or a clue?"
Turning to Mike as if for an answer, Dane suddenly dove into his own bag, rustling around for a moment before pulling out an Escape Rope. "Maybe there's some kind of puzzle here." Stepping into the middle of the room and waving Mike next to him, Dane looked up at the ceiling. Despite the building's small size, it was dark, and it seemed to go on above them forever.
Tossing one end of the rope up nonetheless, Dane was shocked to feel it catch and tense, as though it had hooked something. All at once, however, the rope let go, and Dane felt the earth dropping out from beneath him. Reaching over instinctively, he held Mike close as the plummeted downward.
~~~
"Ouch." Rubbing his head, Dane helped Mike stand before taking a look around them. "God, where did we end up?" Accessing his Pokegear watch, Dane was dismayed to see there was no phone service. "Well, I suppose I should have guessed it." Flipping to radio to see if they could still catch a signal, Dane was taken aback by the noises coming from the speakers.
"Hey Mike, you hearing this?" he asked, not sure what kind of interference he was getting.
Looking over at his partner, Dane walked over to where he was standing and checked the floor. "OUR WORDS SHALL REMAIN HERE FOR THE AGES," he read aloud once more.
Falling silent, Dane looked about until he noticed a ladder. "Hey Mike, let's get out of here. There might be more to this place yet."
Mike had never been to a place as mysterious as the Ruins of Alph, though he was more than happy to allow Dane's excitement to seep into him. After all, things were better now....He was happy to be able to move on.
"Our word shall remain here for the ages..." Mike repeated the words. They sounded important--and he chose to write them down on the back of his notebook before they ascended the ladder back to the surface, "Do you think any of the researchers know about this-? It didn't look like the door was open beforehand...." It didn't matter that much. They could give over the findings if needed though...still, it didn't seem overly important as of yet. Yet being the key word there. "There are other rooms--" Mike gestured to the other structures. Many of the ruined building looked the same, but either way. They paced into another one, finding something similar than before. There was more Unown Script on the wall, and a weird series of plates....Mike frowned a little, "....hey, this looks like a puzzle...come over here." He found himself kneeling down by it. The plates slid if pushed, and he surveyed them carefully. They all had separate engravings on their faces. "....they form a picture." Ultima mewled happily, bouncing around the plate. Michele ran his hand down her back and gently pushed her aside, still moving the plates around. This wasn't hard, just tedious. And then....He stared in surprise, "....it's.....an Aerodactyl." He stood and brushed his pants off, "Hey, Dane....I could guess that's it's not a coincidence that this shows an ancient, once extinct Pokemon in this chamber. What's the word this time?"
Mike found it a little hard to read--the letters were made of Unown and not quite the same as normal alphabet, "Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think it says...Light." Light. Well, the puzzle had been solved by the Escape Rope last time. Maybe.....He reached to his belt and unsnapped one of his Pokeballs, "Alright, Jolteon, we need your help!" The yellow, dog-like Pokemon gave a happy yip. Michele gave him an affectionate pat on the head, ".....alright. This might be a bad idea, but you've gotta trust me." He looked up at Dane with a little smile, "You might want to shield your eyes." He stood upright again, "Jolteon, use Flash-!" The Eeveeloution barked, braced himself--and his fur lit up brilliantly. And the floor opened up, once again.
Mike sort of landed awkwardly this time around, but he stood and brushed off his backside--compulsively checking on the Orbs. They tended to get knocked around, but none of them were damaged in the slightest. That was a relief. The room was identical to the first. There were words here too, "Thus we shall erect a Pokemon statue outside."
How cryptic. He scribbled that down on the back of his notebook as well. "What could this mean, d'you think?"
And, could it be that they...had to solve this puzzle to find the Psychic Orb?
((Lol, I imagine that Dane probably has a Water Stone...and perhaps I could bring in Ho-Oh after all~. In my next entry, then~. <3 ))
Scratching his head at the message, Dane mused, "Well, there are those Pokemon statues in the halls upstairs, but they didn't strike me as terribly important. I mean, they don't seem to do much and they certainly aren't as interesting as all this lettering. But maybe that's just me."
Once they were back on the surface, Dane stretched and breathed in the fresh air. As much as he loved caves and ruins, they could get musty at times.
Leading the way into the next ruin, Dane noted a few strange specks flying around at the corners of his sight, but whenever he looked, there was nothing there but the glyphs on the walls, and he had to wonder if they were just kicking up dust after the ruins had slept for so long.
When they finally found the next room with writing, Dane scratched his head. "WATER? Does it mean a Water-type Pokemon?" Letting out Gyarados, Dane was disappointed when nothing happened. "Umm...Water Gun maybe?" Taking cover with Mike until Gyarados had finished, Dane sighed and returned the behemoth to its Pokeball before turning to Mike. "Any ideas?"
Reaching into his bag for inspiration, Dane paused for a moment when he came across the Water Stone. He'd picked it up a while ago just because he always liked having one of each of the elemental stones, almost for good luck. Taking it out, he looked at it for a minute, considering how to "use" it.
Suddenly, the stone began to glow, as did a series of cracks in the ground beneath their feet. "Well, that was...interesting," was all Dane could think to say before the stone gve way and they crashed down into yet another secret chamber. "Man, I hope the guys working on this place don't mind us helping out a bit."
Dusting himself off, Dane quickly located the writing while Mike occupied himself with another tile puzzle, and read aloud, "THEY POSSES GREAT INSIGHT AND REFUSE THE OUTSIDE WORLD."
Standing back, Dane asked, "What do you think that means? Is 'THEY' the statues they mentioned last time? Or the people themselves? Or...something else?" Shaking his head, Dane had to admit that it was one of the most puzzling series of messages he'd ever seen.
Looking over at Mike's progress, Dane chuckled. "Water. Omanyte. Figures. You know, it's a shame they're extinct. I think they're actually kind of cute. Shall we move onto the next one?" he asked, having little patience for this game and hoping they found an answer soon. If the Psychic orb was here, he wanted to get it and head out ASAP. The sooner they gathered the orbs, the sooner he'd be free.
((Screw Union Cave, there's totally an entrance at the Ruins to this room. XD))
All this falling about was getting old. Ultima seemed to be thinking the same thing. They paced back out of the cave, and passed into the fourth and final chamber. Mike sighed a bit as he kneeled to put together another puzzle….and this one was obvious. He touched it, “…This is a picture of Ho-Oh.” The legendary bird Pokémon that had once roosted next to Lugia in Ecruteak City… “…We can’t open this chamber. The clue is Ho-Oh, and unless he comes here, we can’t get into it.” And what are the chances of Ho-Oh coming here, right now, to open the chamber for them? Slim to none. Ultima mewled sadly. “Well…come on, Dane. Let’s hope the Psychic Orb isn’t behind this door.” It was a shock when he stepped outside, back into the sun, and found his eyes drawn upwards. An enormous bird with feathers of every hue of the rainbow soared overhead, screeching. The powerful beat of its wings threw a gust of air over the ruins that very nearly knocked him off his feet. As it was, it knocked Ultima right off his shoulder and into Dane’s middrift. “Th-that’s Ho-Oh!” Mike ran out into the dirt road, trying to keep the bird in his sight, “I-It must be heading for the Tower-! For Tin Tower! Dane, come on, we won’t get another chance like this!” ~~~ The priest didn’t exactly want to let them through, but after a frantic argument, Mike and Dane were running through the path…it was always autumn here and it was beautiful. The tower was strangely clean inside, for a place that was uninhabited. The priests must keep it clean, in honor of Ho-Oh. It seemed to take forever to reach the top of the tower, and when they did… Ho-Oh was staring down at them, waiting. His wings were tucked against his sides and his posture was noble. Mike felt....it was indescribable. He was face to face with a powerful, Legendary Pokemon. How was he supposed to react to that? But Ho-Oh turned his gaze on his partner, to Dane.
You seek to ressurect her. We knew her. We knew all of the Guardians. She sleeps within the fallen City. She waits for you. You are close to fulfilling the destiny that you have set upon yourselves.
The enormous bird lifted his wings, as if to take flight,
I entrust you with this. Find my partner. He too watches one.
The gust of wind did knock both boys from their feet this time. Ho-Oh screeched, effortlessly lifting his bulk from the tower and into the sky. Mike shielded Ultima against his chest, relieved that none of them had been chucked from the tower. "Dane are you okay-? He was staring you down pretty intensely there..." He got to his feet, offering a hand to help Dane up.
On the center of the tower was an Orb--brilliant purple and glowing faintly.
Psychic.
((Just so you know, only Dane could hear Ho-Oh speaking.))
Standing up slowly, Dane stared off into the distance as the great bird Pokemon disappeared into the sky.
"Wow...that was...something," he whispered with a small, whimsical smile on his lips. Glancing over at his partner, he asked, "Wasn't it?"
Holding hands as they walked back down the Tower, Dane said, "That had to have been the number one most amazing thing I've ever seen. Was it not everything you've ever heard and more!?"
He went on and on about it and its glory, simply awestruck. By the time they had reached the bottom, he had simply run out of words. "How...How about lunch...or dinner...what time is it?" he asked, looking around in confusion.
Putting a hand to his head, Dane stumbled for a second. "Oh, uh...maybe...maybe we should just head back to the hotel. My head's spinning a bit," he explained, still holding his face in his palm. Everything was spinning, like he hadn't felt in a while.
Gripping Mike's hand a bit firmer than usual, he looked up into his partner's eyes and smiled despite himself. "Heh. And here I thought you would be the one I'd be worrying about up there."
((Where am I? XD I'm back, after forever. EDIT: omg, it's so short, I'm sorry. XD))
"Well of course it was something!" Mike said, slightly exasperated, "I mean, some people go their entire lives without seeing a Legendary Pokemon! I wish I could have gotten a picture or something...but then again, maybe it's better to just keep it a secret..."
He listened to Dane babble, enjoying the sound of his voice and his happiness. It was fun to see him so excited...it was cute.
At the question, Mike checked his watch, "....oh, it's after lunch time but not quite dinner time. We could go and find something to eat---" he stopped, surprised at the declaration, "....oh. Yeah, let's get you sat down. Come on." He pulled Dane along carefully, not wanting to throw of his center of balance. At the last comment however, he shot Dane a look that was accompanied by an unamused pout.
~~
"I brought you some water, and some ginger-ale. I don't know if your stomach is upset but if your head was spinning, maybe the nausea will come soon-? That always happens to me." Mike said as he pushed his way back into the hotel room, with Ultima at his feet. He'd left for just a moment, to find some remedies for Dane's spontaneous ill-feelings, "....they didn't have any Saltines but I can go out and try to find some if you really want them." He put the stuff on the nightstand and sat down on the edge of the bed, watching as Ultima jumped up as well, draping herself across Dane's thighs. He smiled a bit, ".....but....you should feel better pretty soon, right? I mean, you're a super healthy guy so...Yeah."
His mind wandered a little as his gaze slid over the pack on the floor, nearly full of small, glowing glass orbs. They almost had all of them....they were only missing Poison, Ground, Dragon, and Water. They were so close to finishing it....and what would they find at the end.
"....maybe we can head up towards Mt. Mortar after this? Then we can cut across Route 34 towards the Dragons' Den and the Lake of Rage."
The walk didn't even seem daunting, really. He had to say, that ever since he'd joined up with Dane, he'd...changed. Not even mentioning the mental change, but the physical change as well. He'd lost most traces of his baby-fat, his endurance had improved, and the dark circles under his eyes from all the lack of sleep he'd been experiencing before had started to fade. All because of Dane.
".....but for now you just focus on resting, alright? We've been going nonstop for a while. Maybe it's finally caught up with you. You're aren't invincible, you know." Mike said lowly, giving his companion a look, "Even you are bound to get a little tired sometimes, sir."
Sitting up in bed and feeling guilty for making Mike worry, Dane smiled weakly and thanked him, drinking some of the ginger ale first. "It was more of a lightheadedness...I think I'll be fine in a bit. Sorry to throw the brakes on our adventure. I think maybe seeing Ho-oh and everything must have just thrown me for a loop. I mean, I knew legendary Pokemon were special but...man."
Leaning his head back against the pillow he'd been leaning again, he took a second to remember ever minute detail of the magnificent bird in all its glory. Certainly, it meant that they were not only on the right track, but that they were meant to solve this puzzle together.
Suddenly recalling Ho-oh's final words, Dane's eyes opened wearily and he he said suddenly, "I guess this means we'll have to find Lugia too." Closing his eyes again for a moment, Dane prayed a silent thanks for the fact that they had the blessings of Ho-oh to complete their journey. Had the legendary Pokemon put up a fight, Dane had little doubt they both would have tumbled from the top of that tower.
Glancing sadly at Mike's back as the young man considered their packs, Dane reached out resignedly with one finger, but hardly. He wanted it to be over, so that there would be nothing left unresolved between them. It was tiring to go on like that, so close to their goal yet with so much left to do.
Thinking about the map again, Dane agreed. The prospect of their romantic date at the Lake of Rage was still bucking around in his heart, and he began to feel his energy returning to him.
Chuckling at Mike's warning, Dane nodded. "Yeah. I've had to face my own limitations plenty of times before, and I'm sure this won't be the last time, either." Shaking his head and smiling to himself, Dane thought for a moment before adding, "I'll have to tell you about it, sometime. My one weakness. My big secret." Feeling almost intoxicated by their approaching victory, Dane allowed just a bit of what he'd been hiding to slip out. "As soon as this is over, I'll tell you. You'll be surprised, I know you will," he teased coyly, not really caring about staying so tight-lipped anymore. Their love would overcome any differences they might have.
Ultima had leaped up onto the bed and licked Dane's face, possibly her way of telling him to feel better soon. She pranced past her Trainer, wanting to sit by the window and watch the people come and go. It was something she liked to do at every station. Mike watched her for a moment before turning his attention back to Dane, "Lugia....he's usually found in the Whirl Islands. It'll be hard to get there...so we'd better go elsewhere first, or risk putting ourselves and the Orbs in danger..." And then he paused, looking a bit confused. Why did the secret have to wait until later? "....alright. If you're sure." He wouldn't push it, of course. If Dane didn't want to tell him, then fine, but he couldn't help but to worry. He tried to force the worry into excitement, but it was tough. What would he find out-? For now, Michele pushed it away and kicked off his shoes in order to climb up onto the bed more comfortably. He blushed like a madman as he settled himself over Dane's lap, his knees on either side of Dane's hips. "....let me, uh.....try to make you feel better..." He leaned in carefully, pressing his lips to the corner of Dane's mouth softly. Well, maybe this would make him feel better as well. He tilted his head to deepen the kiss. This was still new and exotic for him, but he liked it. They hadn't gone very far or anything, but...kissing was good enough for him, right now.
Relieved that Mike would take his teasing and promise with no further explanation, Dane closed his eyes and leaned back, feeling as though everything was going his way again.
Opening his eyes again curiously as he felt the bed shift a bit, he couldn't help but smirk when he saw Mike's smoky eyes. Though their once dark outlines had faded and they were sparkling with health, the deep pitch of their grey had not dulled in the least.
Kissing Mike back happily, Dane put his hands on either of Mike's knees, not going any further, but feeling the need to keep his partner held there, lest they both float off in their bliss.
Venturing as far as slipping a little tongue, Dane found the inside of Mike's mouth pleasantly warm, and was reminding of the first time they'd shared a sleeping bag together, in the depths of the Seafoam Islands. Back then, he'd acted so casually; it was normal to him to share a bag with another adventurer if they were traveling together in cold weather, and at the time it had been no different. Now, however, with everything that had happened between them, being so physically close was like a blessing to him. All his life he'd been so close to Pokemon, yet so distant from other people. Mike was precious to him, in a way that he couldn't yet explain.
---
When they had finished, Dane glanced out the window before suggesting, "Why don't we head out and get some dinner before it gets too late? Everyday is something new for us, so we shouldn't forget to keep our energy up."
Despite his desire to stay there forever, Dane let Mike get up before standing himself. The dizziness had finally passed, and he felt revived. Giving an old smile, he said, "I love you Mike. More than I can put into words. I don't know if I believe in Fate, but you're the best thing I think could ever have happened to me. We'll get through all this one way or another. Together."
Michele was blushing and maybe a little bit flustered when they parted, but he agreed with the idea of getting some dinner. When Dane spoke again, however, he couldn't help but to stare at the other boy in a haze of almost shock. He loves me.... Mike swallowed thickly and dropped his gaze, unable to stop the involuntary smile that crept onto his face, "....I....I love you too, Dane......m-more than I've never loved anyone...." He couldn't say anything as awesome as what Dane had just said to him, but he could tell the truth. He didn't know when it had happened, or how, but he'd fallen in love with his partner...and nothing was going to change that.
~~
After resting up (and only after Mike was sure that Dane was up to going back to travelling), the boys moved on from Ecruteak and towards the Lake of Rage. There was an odd pressure in the air that was impossible to identify, but as they passed through the tiny Mahogany Town and headed up to the Lake...they got a full blast of why. The stories of there being a Red Gyarados in the Lake had been dismissed as myth, but as the boys rushed up to the steep shore, they were were confronted with the truth. Mike couldn't believe his eyes. "....Dane...." It was all that came out, because the rest of the sentence was lost to the wind--wind that was kicked up by the powerful wings of none other than Lugia himself. He couldn't hazard a guess as to why Lugia was so far north, but he seemed to be trying to subdue the Red Gyarados, who seemed angry and was resisting the Legendary Pokemon. As the two Pokemon battled, the weather took a turn for the worst--the sky turning black and starting to crackle with lightning. Ultima, from Mike's shoulder, wrestled herself down between her Trainer's body and the pack on his back to avoid the start of the downpour. Michele shielded his eyes with his hand, "Holy smokes, what's going on-?!" How were they supposed to look for the Water Orb with these Pokemon causing all this havoc!?
((Only Dane knows that they need to like...get Lugia's attention.....because Ho-oh talked to him and him only. :b ))
Smiling back at Mike, Dane understood what his partner was trying to say, even if he was tripping over his words a little bit. They were a team, and they'd get through this adventure together, no matter the odds.
---
Shocked by the sight at the Lake of Rage, Dane simply stood there in awe, mouth agape for a moment, as he watched the two titans struggle. Suddenly snapping back to his senses, he took out a Pokeball and released Aerodactyl.
Climbing onto the fossil Pokemon's back, he stretched out a hand to help Mike up. "Come on! We've got to get to Lugia before these two hurt each other! We have to talk to him, he'll know where one of the remaining orbs is!"
Pushing Aerodactyl to take flight, Dane could feel her reluctance to get anywhere near the battle, but spurred her on regardless. They had to get up close and personal if they had any hope of tearing Lugia's attention away from the Gyarados. Why were these two fighting in the first place? And why was Lugia anywhere near the lake to begin with? Dane could only hope it was a sign in their favour.
Steering the flying Pokemon around the legendary in circles, Dane yelled out as loud as he could into her ear, "Screech! Use screech!" as they dove about Lugia's head. They were in dangerous territory above the lake; one hit could send them down into the waters, and none of the three were competent swimmers. Let alone the thrashing of the red Gyarados.
((Hnn, sorry it's short, but after all, Mike's the one that has to talk with Lugia. X3))
Mike covered his ears in an attempt to shield from the terrible sound of the screech attack, but it was almost impossible to--with him having to hold onto Ultima tightly enough to keep her in one place. It was also difficult to keep himself steady--with the wind and the rain and the terrible fight going on, it was more than difficult to stay on the back of the Fossil Pokemon.
The screech attack, however, seemed to work. The red Gyarados was distracted for just a second, and with a powerful lunge the Lugia took it down. The two Pokemon crashed into the water, sending up a huge spray. For several painful moments, it was silent other than the rain---and then Lugia burst from the surface, powerful wings beating at the air--which quite suddenly became void of rain, and the wind died down. The Legendary Pokemon hovered there, cold blue eyes scanning over the Aerodactyl and the two boys upon its back. Michele stiffened uncertainly as their eyes locked together....and he found himself frozen in place.... Something powerful invaded his head, and the voice echoed through his mind. "You are the ones whom destiny has kissed. Close are you, to the end of the Journey. But you need the orb that I protect. Retrieve it from the water. He will show you where it is." And then Lugia beat his wings, turning and taking off over the land, presumably back towards Whirl Islands. Michele slumped a little, feeling a bit strange with the touch of the Pokemon's mind fading. He let out a long breath. From the water....he will show? In a quick realization, he realized that Lugia must be talking about the Red Gyarados. ".....Dane, I need you to look after Ultima for a moment," he said lowly, pushing his rather soaked little Eevee to his partner, "....I know where the Orb is. I have to go get it." It was a little scary, considering that he'd never learned to swim, but...he had to trust Lugia, and that Gyarados. Maybe it was a test. He stripped off his shoes and his jacket, "....This is gunna seem crazy, but you have to trust me, alright-?" With that, he brushed Dane's sopping bangs from his eyes, kissed him on the forehead, and carefully got to his feet. Ooh gods, this is scary. But he took a deep breath and took the dive--off the Aerodactyl's back and into the cold waters of the Lake of Rage.
((lulz. Will either of these two stopping giving each other heartattacks?))
Clutching Ultima gently to his chest, Dane felt tears begin to sting the corners of his eyes as Mike kissed his head. He knew it would be all right. He knew Mike would be fine; this was just another test in their journey. Still, he couldn't watch as his partner dove from the back of the flying Aerodactyl, and instead did his best to steer the enormous Fossil Pokemon back to the shore while still holding onto the belongings Mike had entrusted him with.
Letting Ultima down to the ground, Dane gave his Aerodactyl a pat on the head before returning her to her Pokeball. Switching it for another, he released his own Gyarados, not wanting to take any chances.
"I can't go in after him, and I trust him, but...I just want you to go and make sure he's okay. Don't interfere if the Red Gyarados has things under control, but I want you to be his safety net." The giant sea dragon took little convincing, and dove swiftly into the water to carry out Dane's orders.
Dane stood on the shore with Ultima at his feet, watching the surface for what seemed an eternity, waiting to see a splash, a wave, Mike, either Gyarados, anything to tell him he could stop holding his breath in agony.
((omg, short, but there isn't much for Dane to do at the moment.))
(lol I don't think they ever will. XD )
Ultima seemed just as worried as he was, her brown eyes focused on the water with burning intensity. But the surface of the lake was still, and things seemed so terribly silent--as if everything was standing still.
~~~ The water was cold enough to dull his limbs, and his lungs burned for air almost immediately--but he had to trust in Lugia...in the Red Gyarados....He was at the mercy of the water. It was dark, and even with his eyes open Michele couldn't see very far....but he could feel the swirl of the water as the massive Pokemon circled him. What was it going to do? ~~~
It couldn't have been longer than a minute--considering the average human can barely hold his/her breath that long....and it was such a relief with the Red Gyarados burst from the water that Ultima actually cried out in happiness. Dane's Gyarados surfaced immediately after, almost at his crimson kin's side. The two swam to the shore, and the Red Gyarados lowered its head down, allowing Mike to stumble onto dry land--gasping for air and shivering violently, but holding a glowing blue Orb between his frozen fingers. "....h-hah....th-that was the most.....t-terrifying e-experience of my life~" He said lightly, attempting to grin through his chattering teeth. He turned though--and placed his hand on the glittering scales of the oddly colored sea dragon, "....thank you. I know you didn't exactly want to give it up, but....thank you." The Pokemon raised its head, giving Dane's Gyarados an....almost affectionate nudge...before turning and plunging into the waters of the lake. Michele turned back again, "D-D'you mind if we f-find s-somewhere for me to, uh, ch-change into something dry~?"
~~~ There was an Inn nearby, and the keeper didn't mind letting them stay for a while at a cheap expense. Mike found himself seated on one of the beds, Ultima curled up at his side and the Water Orb between his hands. ".....Hey, Dane....can I ask you something-?" He looked up, nibbling on his lower lip, "....when we were on the top of Tin Tower, with Ho-Oh.....I noticed that he stared you down pretty intensely. This....This is gunna sound crazy, but....did Ho-Oh....speak to you-?" He glanced over at his partner uncertainly, ".....when Lugia stopped fighting the Red Gyarados, he looked at me--and it was like I was frozen. And then I heard this voice in my head....telling me where the Orb was.....and when I was in the lake....I got this sense that the Red Gyarados was upset. I think it was because she didn't agree with Lugia letting us have this Orb....." he couldn't help but to laugh a bit, nervous, ".....but that's crazy, huh~? Heh...."
((No problem with the shortness. :3 Only three orbs to go~ That's exciting, huh? ))
