Red face contrasting the yellow fur on his ears, he had forgotten about the female in his attempt to attack while getting his legs back under him. He cussed again as the aim of his fist was knocked off course by the impact of the cattaur's body this time, ears pinning back angrily as he felt the blade touch his neck. He'd blown his chance.. He yelped as he felt the claws digging into him, tears of pain unwittingly springing up and pooling in his eyes. "So, what now? I ain't gonna talk to 'im."
Gabriel managed to flip around, able to see the acceptance of defeat as the other male was pinned down next to him. That had been close... Rolling onto his belly, his eyes immediately began to look over Quintessa. He couldn't see the injury from here, but he knew it was there. He had seen it, and he could smell it... Anger was bubbling up, and the other's snotty words made him bare his teeth again, his own cheeks flushed with emotion. "What you're gonna do is shut up until we get back to her boss. I'm pretty f---ing sure that he'll be more than happy to make you talk. You will do whatever she tells you to, and if you complain about it, she's going to make sure you don't wake up again until we're back at the island." Then he did what the other guy had failed to do, his fist shooting out and knocking right into the other's nose, blood instantly coating his fingers.
Taking a deep breath, he sat up and started pulling the plethora of thorns from his skin and fur. They were still in that little enclosed space, which was probably a good thing. Less likely to draw attention. His eyes darted between his work, the pinned fox, and Tessa's waist, jaw set tight.

Tessa held the blade firm to his throat while Gabriel spoke. Not only was she immensely grateful to have him at her back, but the emotion behind his words really revved up her blood. Having someone that charged up about making someone else follow her orders....It was invigorating to say the least. When he punched him, Tessa sat back, confident that the punk wouldn't try to escape any time soon.
Of course, the movement sent a wave of pain across her torso. She hissed and wrapped her arm around it, her free hand digging into the spear. The wound didn't appear to be deep, but it was long, from her left hip to just below her right breast. "We need to get him out of here," Tessa murmured. If she lost very much blood she wouldn't be able to defend herself should he choose to attack again.

Baldy had been properly silenced, and chose to lie there quietly, both hands pinched over his nose.
Gabriel looked up again as Tessa spoke, eyes instantly going to the exposed injury. Dang, that was a big one. His gaze rose up to her face, and instantly frowned. What they needed was to take care of that slash...
Looking around, his eyes landed on the rope that Baldy had gotten loose from. He picked it up, and checked its length. Taking one end, he tied their captive's hands behind his back, using as little as possible. Then he chewed off the rest, checking the length again. Without bothering to ask, he grabbed Tessa's cloak and yanked it off of her, folded it a few times, and pressed it over the wound. Then he wrapped the rope around her waist as many times as he could, making it snug, and tied it. A pretty crappy makeshift bandage, but there was nothing else until they could get to a safer town. This way, she could still have one free arm. "Let's get going then," he said flatly, standing up and then pulling the other guy onto his paws.

Tessa opened her mouth to complain, but ended up crying out instead. When pressure was applied to the wound, the pain because worse and tolerable all at once. She had planned on getting her barrings first, but it seemed Gabriel had other plans.
She pulled herself to her paws, careful to keep pressure on the wound while keeping aim on the yellow b*****d with her spear. If they could get to town, they could request a courier to help them make the transfer. With as many times as she was stumbling, though, that may have proven difficult.
The assassin held her steps, bumbling through brush and briers until she could see the town just up ahead. "If this scars, I'm going to cut off your hand," she growled.

Gabriel tried to clear as much of the path as he could as they left the protection of the thorn bushes. His gaze was constantly flicking over to Tessa, checking and watching. She'd probably get ticked off if she noticed. When they could see the town, his attention shifted forward again, looking around at the morning crowd. Not very much.. Probably a lot of taur sleeping off their hangovers.
His ears twitched at Tessa's scowling words, and his mouth turned down in a sour frown. She'd gotten that wound because she'd been standing in front of him.. Had she really been trying to protect him, or was that just how they'd ended up as she'd been facing down their target? ...He didn't like that she'd been hurt because of this. In fact, his own skin was feeling subtle sympathy pains. "Is it bad that I hope it scars then?" He looked over at his captive and scowled. "It'd be hard for you to shine that pretty head of yours with only one hand." He earned a scowl in return, and then started looking at the various businesses, a healer's office being his priority. He certainly couldn't take the bleeding male there, but Tessa needed to get in and seal up that wound.

The filthy streets weren't a welcome sign to Tessa. Any minute one of the morning crowd could find them out, and then who would they believe? The one tied in ropes or the ones chained together with a weapon? Her eyes kept darting over to Gabriel. What was he thinking? Even last night he hadn't been this quiet, and it was starting to worry her. "I bet it's natural. I doubt he's ever had a single hair in his life." She gave a terse grin, subconsciously leaning up against a tree trunk.
Her tired eyes gazed over the masses, a yawn slipping out on the wings of a groan. Everything was starting to catch up with her. She was even starting to daydream because she could have sworn one of those faces looked familiar. He even had his meek little shuffle, like a rat that didn't want to move his legs when he ran. He had the same over sized tail, eyes that were too big for his face, and a marking on the bag around his shoulders...."Sydney?" She squeaked. "Sydney!"

Where was it? He couldn't find the pub for the life of him, and honestly, in a seedy little town like this, that should have been easy. Sydney paced around the cobblestones, aware that every second he spent trying to decipher his crude made he wasted precious time. Very soon the early crowd would be milling about in droves while the rest moaned in their beds, complaining because of drunken illnesses.
His ears perked, and he turned, following the sound of his name to a little embankment. At first all he saw were two fairly bright foxtaurs, both of whom were spotted here and there with signs of a fight, and then he saw her. Sydney ran into the brush straight to Tessa's side. "Captain Quintessa. I heard you were out on assignment, but this wasn't the region you were assigned." His nervous gaze flitted between the two fox's, and then down to makeshift bandage that was quickly darkening. "What happened here? Which one of the- Why are you wearing manacles?"

Gabriel gave a sharp laugh, though even his own joke hadn't reached his eyes. They were too busy watching Tessa, and the bandage that continued to darken, his own gut clenching with concern. He couldn't do anything... This forest didn't even have the right kind of plant life to use to stem the flow or ease the pain. ....He shouldn't be worrying so much about the assassin assigned to take his head, but...
He was distracted by the call, looking up in surprise at the new arrival. Captain? This guy was part of the order? He ignored the new guy though, and returned his attention to the buildings. Even a dumpy little town like this had to have someone who could at the least sew her up. Heck, give him some needle and thread and he'd do it himself! Wouldn't be the first time he'd had to stitch someone up.

Sydney kept tapping his paw on the ground while he tried to think up a solution. The Captain was obviously injured, something had gone wrong with the mission and one of these two was supposed to be dead. If he knew which one, he'd do it himself to spare her the trouble, but that wasn't his department.....And in all honesty they'd be more apt to die laughing at him instead of his blade.
"Got it! You, there, with the hair," He gesticulated to Gabriel. "I'll take the bald fellow and you'll help Captain Quintessa into this building across the street, the one with the sunken roof. I think it's used during night time hours only, so it should be safe enough. I can help treat your injuries once we're inside." With a gentle, yet firm grasp, Sydney took hold of the yellow foxes arm and guided him across the street with more gentleness than Tessa would have liked.

Gabriel blinked in confusion, turning to look at the courier. He reluctantly handed his enemy over. He could see the cogs turning in Baldy's head, and he cast a dark look at those shifty eyes. If the male tried anything, he would be a goner.
He watched the two walk off a bit, letting them get closer to the building before looking to Quintessa. She didn't look so good... Biting back to urge to inquire how she was doing, he silently wrapped a supportive arm around her waist, pulling her against him. His other hand pressed to the bandage, jaw clenching further as he felt the dampness. He guided her carefully through the street, following after the other pair.
Once inside, he looked right at Sydney, eyes lacking any sign of their usual lightheartedness. "Either find a doctor around here or tell me you have a first aid kit with thread in it on you. She needs to be stitched up to stop the bleeding."

If tense looks were exchanged, Sydney did his best to overlook them. It wasn't his place to dig into an assignment that was not only his, but above his own abilities. Instead, he opened the door to the old shack. If the outside looked back, the inside was terrible. There was no floor, the roof had more holes than boards, but there was a fireplace; one he intended on using.
"Why don't you sit over here, hmm?" He put the bald fellow down near the back wall, as far from the door as possible, and turned to the pair.
Quintessa grunted when Gabriel pulled her closer, and tried not to make anymore of a nuisance of herself than she already had. Each step felt like hot coals were being sprayed onto her chest, and by the time she entered the shack she had all, but collapsed against him.
If it wasn't the pain, or the blood loss, it would have been exhaustion. All three had her swaying on her paws, her breathing sharp and tense. She barely noticed Sydney moving closer, and was only barely aware that others were speaking.
"I...am not a healer." Sydney stepped closer, and licked his lips. "But I do know how to sew, so that should work? I mean, it's the same principal, right?" He looked hesitantly to his Captain before digging around in his bag. "I've got thread and a needle right here."

Gabriel carefully guided Quintessa inside, brow rising at the condition of the place. They would have been just as well off in the woods! He dug at the dirt near the fireplace to make sure it was clear of debris before gently setting the feline down. There was so much blood... Teeth bared, he shot a glare over at the yellow fox in the back corner. "If I wasn't chained right now, know that your head would be torn from your shoulders. You keep your a** there, and not a peep outta you."
Looking over as Sydney dug for the sewing material, Gabriel scowled and reached to snatch the thread and needle from the other male. "No way. I'll do it. You need to get a fire going to boil some water. We'll need some to rinse the wound, and then hotter water to clean it better once it's sewn. We can't wait for the water to boil before stitching. She's bleeding too freely. And keep your eyes on baldy over there." Looking to Tessa, he tapped her cheek firmly. "You stay awake now. You hear? We'll get you sewn up in no time."
He felt his heart pounding, and his body ached. The tension of the past few days was wearing on him, and he hadn't eaten since... He thought about that deer they'd caught yesterday with a pang of regret. They should have tried to find it again last night. Surely Quintessa was hungry as well. He looked down at the soaking cloth at her torso.
Glowering from his corner, baldy had his eyes locked on the assassin. See? She was mortal like everyone else. What he couldn't fathom was how Gabriel seemed to be hovering around his would-be killer. What the heck was going on here? He looked at the door, far on the other side of the room. Well, this wood wasn't that sturdy. The problem was his hands being tied behind his back...

Sydney's ears laid back against his head. Even as his vision darted between the two males, his curiosity grew. Captain, what have you DONE...? What in the world could she have been thinking, getting involved like this?
"Got it, got it," Sydney scampered to the fireplace, his overly large tail bouncing like a will-o-wisp behind him. He barely paid attention to the yellow fox as he used a piece of flint to get the fire going. Now if only they had a...."Ah-ha!" The young fox snatched up an old pot from the ashes, scrubbed it out with his arm, and hung it on the fire. It didn't take him long to empty out half of his reserves into the pot, and to make it back to Gabriel with the other. "It's not much, but it'll do the trick.....Have you ever done this kind of thing before?"
Quintessa didn't open her eyes to grin, but then, she didn't need to. As awful as the whole thing was, she couldn't help the small chuckle that slipped out. "I'm not a cub," she murmured, rolling her head back on a hiss. Scars were a sign of battle, a badge of courage, but the process of getting them hurt like hell!
"Gimme the damn needle," she growled out, holding a shaky hand up as far as she could. "I'll do it...you girls are...taking too long."

Gabriel ground his teeth impatiently, using the moment to check on his counterpart. Baldy was being far too quiet over there... "Any water will do," he replied, grabbing the canteen. "Yes, I have. Enough times on myself to do it with my eyes closed." No one came out of as many scuffles as he'd been in looking flawless.
He started to untie the bindings from around Quintessa as she held up her hand for the needle. He snorted and shook his head. Right. This wasn't a normal female... He might have handed it over, too, if her hand hadn't been so shaky. "You can crab at me about it later," he said as he pushed her hand back down. "You just sit still and let me do this." As soon as the wrapping was off, he saw another problem. Her corset was in the way..... "You can crab at me about this later as well," he murmured, reaching over and tearing the corset further to expose the big gash while still keeping her breasts covered. He poured the water onto the gash, blotted it with whatever was left clean of the wrapping, and set to work stitching her back up, his expression focused as he worked.

Oh, she was going to crab about it now. She'd been just about to retort when he removed the bindings, forcing her back to arch on a sharp hiss of pain. "Damn it all," she ground out. When she settled back down, she was only allowed a moments reprieve before another, definitely more interesting problem arose. "If this keeps happening, I may as well just walk around nude." Even as she said it, she was turning her head to the door, a tired, pained grin still residing on her face.
Once Sydney was sure that everything was going to be fine, he slipped outside to get he flowering pot he'd seen earlier. It was filled to the brim with rain water, and while it wasn't clean now, a little time on the fire would cure that up.
When he came back in, he scuttled as fast as he could past the pair and settled back at the fireplace. "So, mind filling me in on what happened?" He said in low tones to the baldy, carefully tipping water into the warm pot. "There's ale in it for you if you're honest."

Ears twitching, Gabriel couldn't help a tiny smirk at Quintessa's muttering. "You might as well~" He certainly wouldn't complain...
Baldy kept his lips pressed tight as Sydney drew near again. If he could just get the ropes a little looser.. The low voice made his ears perk, dark eyes shifting over to the gray foxtaur. ...It was all he could do to keep himself from grinning like an idiot. So this guy didn't know what was going on? "Honesty, huh?" Casting a nervous look at the manacled pair, he lowered his voice as well, adding a nervous hitch to it. "I'm the one asked for your order's help. That guy over there been a thorn in my side for years, always trying to show off how much better th'n I am he is. He stealin' my property all the time, and shows it off as his own." He added a little wibble to his lip. "Then.. he took my girl. A good gal is all a good guy has, ya know? He used a potion of some sort on her. Stole her away, just like that. I had ta do somethin'!" That damned woman was a pain, but her family was rich... Maybe she could be of use to him right now after all? He looked over at the pair again. How far could he push this..? "I admit, I put that gash in her, but it was self defense! That guy found me an would beat me to a pulp without a second thought if he could! Come on, man. That gal over there is fierce. You think she be letting a guy like that live unless he'd slipped her a potion, too?"
Now focused so intently, Gabriel barely noticed the other conversation going on. He had to focus, to keep his blood covered fingers from slipping on the needle wiping his hands onto his legs from time to time. Finally, he tied off the end of the stitching, double-checking his work before slicing the remaining thread with the needle. "Bring that water over if it's ready," he called, looking over to Sydney. He saw the yellow fox talking and frowned. "Hey! I said watch him, not strike up a conversation."
