Finally, Jalarant's attention was torn from the charming little Brown to something that was stomping up towards them. Not really them; the Brown! Oh, little Blue, why were you so full of attitude? Were you going to fight? You guys were going to fight, weren't you? Right in front of him and all! Someone was going to get crushed!

"He should not rush him," Viridith snapped away from her food, turning to watch the action on the sands with still, predatory seeming intensity. "Nobody should have to rush this. Nobody should have to rush anything. Time. Patience. Thought. That blue knows nothing. I do not like him."
"Mmm..." Kyros frowned, feeling annoyance flood over him. "Me neither." He knew what this was. He'd been told that at first there were no barriers between you and your dragon, everything flowed from one to the other... The tall man narrowed his eyes, and unconsciously mimicked his lifemate's poised to spring stance. "Each in their own time..."
"...not anyone else's." Though Viridith's eyes remained blue, her stiff and ready stance did not change. Nobody should have to rush.

La watched as the little green found Hers in the Stands (Shards, all of them over there and none of them for poor Ofelia? That was too bad...) and then turned her attention back to the Sands. The brown was absolutely adorable, but the blue making a fuss caught her attention more quickly. With a wry smile, she put her hands on her hips and cocked her head. What an impatient little thing. Though it reminded her a bit of some of the faces the other Candidates wore. La remembered the agonizing feeling, wondering painfully whether Impression would come and then feeling devastated when it didn't. But nowadays, Candidacy was just something she did on the side. It wasn't that she didn't want a dragon, no, she would love a companion, but....
It was more like a gather, like she had said to O'rer. She was there to enjoy herself and then go home just the same as always. And shards, she would enjoy herself, no reason the dragons shouldn't, either!

Saykiro was happy that the Green had found Hers. His eyes turned to the other green and tears flowed as he watched her blink out. He tried wiping them away but it was emotional for him, watching a creature leave them.
The brown made him smile slightly as he bobbed his head to some tune he heard. Seemed he wanted happiness to ensue with himself being the main attraction. The blue that broke out after him, didn't feel quite the same way.

There was a small chirp of protest from the brown as the blue marched his way over, lowering his head for a moment as though he were a child scorned, though once the blue drew closer and the red left his eyes the head was raised up once more and the brown let out a trill that seemed intent on making all those around him wince. The blue shook the pain off and his eyes whirled back to their red, a growl of sorts issuing from his throat. Whatever the brown was doing was clearly not what the blue thought would be best, even if neither was moving to do anything about it.
That being said, perhaps enough was finally enough. The blue snorted and started his rounds through the candidates, his first stop amongst the boys. His eyes were still red as though he were upset at something or someone, though with each step they seemed to mellow. A few boys he gave pause in front of as though he were giving them a decent look over, though he continued on after a moment before coming to completely rest in front of a more wiry figure. His head lifted and turned, as though he were more curious, when suddenly a blur of brown passed his vision.
Instantly the brown was at the boy's side, almost as if he were trying to protect him. If the small dragon could he reared up as best as possible, wings spread out to try and ward the blue away. It was very clear now what he was trying say with his actions as he turned his head to the boy behind him, eyes whirling their happy green-blue.
There you are, Salin! I'm soooo happy to see you, were you waiting for your Linnaeth?

OptheliMine, please look at your Dynith! I am right over here!
Optheli blinked and looked at the other girl. "Did you say something?" It had sounded liked someone speaking into her mind. After a moment she realizes that it wasn't her companion at her side who spoke. Her hands fly over her mouth as she gasps then starts to laugh hysterically. She couldn't believe it! "Her name is Dynith!"
Still laughing and trying to hold back tears, she vaults over the rail and onto the sands. Her shoes catch on the sands making her stumble slightly. Optheli catches herself and jogs across the sands to the beautiful green. She reaches out to lightly cress her headknobs.
At the feeding table, Scarath pauses and looks towards the sands. 'Mine, you might want to see this.'
S'kor blinks as Scarath looks away without taking the proffered meat first. Look at what? He turns towards the sands just in time to see his sister jump into the sands. What was she doing?! The weyr would kick her out for..... Shards! Whether that was a good or bad shards, his dragon didn't know. "She Impressed too!"

When the Brown had jumped in front of the Blue, Jalarant was certian that every negative thought he'd thought of was going to come true, right then. But, no; the Brown had impressed, and the Blue seemed to be calming down. Perhaps things would be all right?

Salin: Oh. Oh shards. He stopped and stared in astonishment. For a moment, he'd anticipated action from the blue, but then there'd been Linnaeth, and it was -wonderful-. Better than wonderful. It was perfect. His eyes were stinging with the urge to cry, but entirely out of joy as he reached to put his hands on the brown with an sense of awe, as though Linnaeth might vanish under his touch instead of staying solid, warm and real. "Yes I was." he answered, gulping around the lump in his throat. "I was waiting for you, but I'm so glad you're here."
It took him several moments to compose himself enough to add. "Lets get off the sands, they've got food."
Food would be very nice! I've been waiting for you too, and I got hungry waiting.

Malina didn't quite understand what the Blue was trying to do. ... But perhaps he was attempting to help his brother? That would make him a very kind, helpful dragon, looking out for his clutchsib like that. She didn't know if he was, and the sound the Brown made didn't seem happy. It sounded more like, well, unhappy, and that flew in the face of her assumption. Maybe the Brown didn't like his brother's 'help'? Still, it was sweet of him to try! She smiled at the Blue, trying to be as encouraging as ever, and hopeful that he too would soon Impress-- because the Brown had Impressed just now, and to the boy the Blue had been standing in front of! Goodness, what a fuss they had made. Were all Hatchings so full of inter-dragon drama? She hid a smile, honestly a little amused by it. Amused, because it hadn't descended into violence.

Saykiro moved back from the others as the blue and brown headed for the same person. The brown protected the boy and Impressed at the same time. He smiled in happiness for another dragon and rider became one.

Finally! S'raid had no tolerance for slackers, not even small, draconic ones. True, only one of the dratted little beasts had Impressed, but having any forward momentum at all was a step in the right direction-- literally. His foot stopped tapping as he observed the little dragonets. The remaining Blue seemed to have some spirit to him. Best that he not forget his place! Daring to order about a color higher than his own? For shame. Testily, the Bronzerider observed the hatchling below, looking for any sign of abnormality. After all, he was a scion of Trine Weyr, and there should be some present. He is like all others, Galvanth informed him, and he grimaced. He did not at all appreciate the lack of evidence that this Hatching was providing him. Still, that behavior alone had been somewhat abnormal. He mused over this, staring down at the baby dragon.

Oh, the cheery brown had Impressed! Though it was a bit unnerving that he seemed to feel he had to protect His from the blue dragonet. Dragons couldn't wish to Impress the same person, right? Akaya hoped that was the case, and that the blue wasn't too offput by the brown's valiant defense.
The number of eggs was dwindling, and she wondered when exactly the weyrwoman would decide was the time to try the rest of the eggs. She'd never seen an Atypical hatch, and had no idea what decided the attempt to hatch the 'dud' eggs--was it simply that all the eggs left no longer looked as if they would hatch on their own?

"...Good." Viridith turned away with that same swift snapping motion to accept more meat. "He has his now, let the blue do what it will."
"Of course," Kyros nodded and passed more meat to his lifemate... and became aware of how like her he had been for a moment. He loved her, he loved her more than he had ever thought he could love anything, but he didn't want to be her. There would be lessons on keeping themselves separate soon, right?
"I hope so," the green dragonet responded, "that orange friend of yours... I feel confused about her."
...Ah. Yes. Definitely needed to work on that then and... Oh. Well, it was going to be a while before any more moments like that happening with Ofie, or with anyone. For Viridith he was willing of course, but he couldn't help and internal groan. It was only for a few months though, right?

Instead of being upset over the actions of the brown in Impressing the blue merely snorted and shook his head again, his eyes moving away from their red to a more calming green. Perhaps it had all been a ploy of his to get the brown to hurry, but it was likely that it just happened to occur right when the brown was ready to do his thing. The blue may have seemed clever but it would be a bit much to say that he could plan that far ahead from his shell.
His walking resumed again amongst the boys, the girls only getting a glance or two over his shoulder and wing in their direction. It was obvious he was interested in them, for better or worse, but he knew that His dwelt amongst the Candidates who were shirking away from him. It irked him a bit how they all seemed so. . . well, whatever it was the blue was mildly displeased with the lot. He gave another snort as he looked one of them up and down, a smaller boy who'd looked as though he wanted to faint, and he shook his head as he continued on through.
Where was His?

As Salin made his way off the sands with his newly hatched life partner, stars in his eyes, and practically with wings on his feet, Saekagi was still watching the blue. It was an determined, but angry little thing, and it made him worried again that there might yet be bloodshed at the Hatching. There'd already been a hatchling lost, and the brown dodging in front of the blue could easily have gone badly, though the blue had fortunately chosen to become calmer instead.
Who did this wild young thing belong to? Please, he hoped, let it not go between.
