’I shall fight to honor the name of Kaiten, the name of my father…

Erkamina continued along the side paths, staying away from the larger ones, which ended up taking her towards the edge of the maze, and a large and strange looking wall. She shrugged and walked towards it, looking behind her a few times to make sure she hadn't been followed. This was too easy, this wall wasn't here before- was it? Was following the smaller paths the thing that led her to this... Giant Wall? She noticed strange grooves on the wall, some already filled with Kanji similar to the one she wore on her headband. The Kanji wasn't a prize at all, it was a key. She removed her headband again, taking the string off the material that she'd tied it around to prevent from losing it. She traced a groove with her finger and nodded softly, placing the stone into the groove. The wall slowly opened before her and she took the hint to go through the opening, only to hear it slammed closed behind her. "Well, glad that's over." She said quickly as she noticed the maze's absence. She'd solved the puzzle and gotten out, not in record time but she was safe and she'd passed. A sense of accomplishment filled her and she sat down a few paces away from the wall, waiting to see who else passed.

… Soon I will show the world the worth of that name.’

Jin barely looked at the annoying Uchiha boy but did nod in acknowledgment and took the turn right. If they were going the wrong way or were walking straight into a trap then Sora would alert him before hand. It was troublesome to put so much faith and reliance on Sora, but at the moment he was the only person he could trust and so he had no real choice in the matter.

After a short while of walking, Jin stopped and looked at the two that was with him as they reached a fork in the maze. "Which way now?" Jin asked. So far the group hadn't run into any traps but that was due to the fact that the other two in the group had already both traversed the maze and was leading him around the traps. But it was inevitable that they'll eventually run into some, either by another shinobi or the original traps that they hadn't originally noticed before. The thought made Jin inch his hand towards the spear that was slung to his back but he held back the urge to actually retrieve it.

22 is 3 degrees less than 54, so Monster gets 5 points added to his maze score. The total is now 7.

Hisaki scoffed at Yuki's remark about being able to talk before. He felt like he should comment, but did not. If he did, he might have to answer what he was thinking on the way to the crease, and it wasn't something he was willing to share just yet. The source of my Realm Jutsu, Hisaki thought, doesn't concern anyone else just yet, not even Yuki. I know he could trace my mind for it, but for now, I want it to be my secret. I want it to be my personal journey, and my journey alone.

"So now that we're closer to the crease, well else did you look out for?" Yuki asked. Hisaki looked around the cave, and back at the crease in the cieling, "Last time, I just pushed myself away from the crease. Since that's the direction we came from, we know not to move that direction. See, and if you can make out the corner at the far side of the cave... That's where the target is. That's where you want to move to. Now come on, lets hustle." Hisaki power-walked ahead. If his prediction was true, Yuki didn't have much time left at all to find a box. When Hisaki got there, there were, say, twenty to thirty boxes total, and only seven or so where left. He did out the math. If it took an hour for twenty boxes to disappear, then it would take half an hour to rid the last ten. Then again, the young genin thought, tapping his index finger to his lips, Who knows how long this exam has been running. We got there border lining late. Even though I didn't wait long, there may have been groups in hours before me or Yuki... In that case, there may be more left. Ugh... I hate math so much. I'm so glad there isn't some dumb written test like they do sometimes. I've heard so many horrible things about that test. What was the question that genin Jantou told me about? I remember it being something like: If a ninja (A) sits on top a tree and throws a shuriken at a target (C). The curved line (B) in the diagram is the trajectory of the projectile. Find and describe the trajectory if the target is at points D, E, and F. Damn, I would never get through an exam like that, ever.

Hisaki scratched his head and looked around a four way path. Using the Byakugan, he checked the direction of the crease, and the paths around, "Which way did I go? Hmmm..." Hisaki picked a route, and stuck with it. This far in the competition, he saw that most of the traps had been sprung already. It made it slightly more difficult to find a decent route...

Hisaki lost track of his direction for a moment, totally lost in thought in the exam. In his absent-minded walking, he slamed into a dead end, "Ouch... How did I even do that?" Hisaki peeled his bleeding nose from the wall, but suddenly noticed that it wasn't just a wall he'd run into, it was an extra large wall, with grooves all of it. Hanging all over the wall were strings from the kanji like the ones on his neck. Hisaki looked back at Yuki, "Looks like this is the way I'm supposed to go."

Hisaki placed his kanji onto the wall, and immediately, the wall began to shake around, as if there were a miniture earthquake. Slowly, the wall began to split in two, expelling dust and sand as it did. Rocks crumbled from the opening doorway, adding a raindrop-like beat to the grumbling exit. After opening to about five feet wide, the rock stopped moving. A difference in air pressure beckoned Hisaki into the dark cave.

Hisaki stepped into the darkness of the labyrinth exit, and put his hand against the cold stone wall. Hisaki spoke over his shoulder to Yuki, "Listen, you go find your own Kanji, and bring it here. To get to the treasure room, keep away from the crease like I showed you, and move as quickly as you can. If you go the way I got there, you'll find yourself at a nine way crossing, including the way you came. Take the fourth path from the left. If you follow it, you'll find about thirty shreaded trap wires and countless senbon littering the ground, and alot of burn marks. If so, keep running forward at top speed. That trail will be the easiest way to the treasure room. Oh, and watch for the cigarette burns I made too. They might help you." Hisaki swiveled around and waved to his companion as the doorway began to close. Hisaki yelled his parting through the vanishing threshold, "Adios!"

When the doors sealed, there was a bright flash of light, and the slit vanished. Hisaki patted the wall, and said as-solemn-as-prayer, "Good Luck Yuki. I've done what I can." Hisaki turned away from the first Exam and began to walk up the stone staircase to bright exit above. It was a long staircase, and Hisaki feared only slightly that he'd trip backwards and fall to a rather unbecoming doom.

"You know what I need?" Hisaki said to the darkness, "I need a nice stay at an onsen. As soon as they let me loose for the night, I swear, I'm going to the onsen!" Suddenly, bad memories began to come back about previous visits to onsen, and he shuddered, "I got it, I'll go to a nice, ritzy one. That means there won't be any rough housing or crap like that. That'll be nice. I need the rest..." Hisaki smiled, and thought, Maybe Otogakure hot springs are better than ours. Stricter rules on the riff-raff or something.

"Which way now?" asked the first uniformed boy that had the spear. Notwen focused his chakra again, sending the thermal scan over the area. He had succeeded in locating and avoiding more traps. Also the circular area that was the center was in range of the thermal scan. Also there was a bright blip a bit ahead of the newly formed three-man cell.
"Not very far now. Follow my movements exactly." replied Notwen, taking off down a corridor, making sure his feet landed on certain tiles. With a small leap, he kicked off the wall and cleared a small gap. He waited until the two uniformed individuals cleared the hidden trap, then spoke again. "There seems to be an individual nearing the center of the maze. I picked him or her up in my area scan. We can do one of two things: Hurry and get there before the person, or wait until they have the box then jump them." Notwen looked at the two uniformed individuals, waiting for their decision.

Hisaki explained how he had used the crease to get towards the center, and how he had move around it to get to the center for the Kanji. His partner then began to walk faster, leaving the already tired Yuki to jog a bit to catch up. Hisaki is more fit for this running around s**t, since he was always more proficient in Taijutsu than I was. Now I kinda wish this was a written exam, that would have been better than this garbage. Seeming as how I practically study all the time. I love math so much, it is quite easy for me. I'm pretty sure Jantou said something along the lines of an exam that was focused more around cheating if you didn't know the answers. He had put one of the questions on the board, something about projectiles and their trajectory. I tried to solve it while Jantou was explaining the rest of the exam, but after a few minutes I figured out the answer, much to his surprise. After giving me a minor compliment, he told me that I would have been the ones wary of being cheated off of. I really wish we had a Chuunin exam like that.

Hisaki complained about it being tough to navigate now that there were no traps in the way, which Yuki thought was a blessing rather than a curse. After a few more minutes of aimlessly walking around, Hisaki had led them to a dead-end. "Oh great, a dead end, I thought you knew where you were going? Yuki commented, sounding slightly angry. "Looks like this is the way I'm supposed to go." Hisaki said solemnly. He placed the kanji into a small slot, and then the theatrics came. The wall erupted into two pieces, creating a small doorway that, Yuki guessed, was the exit to this horrid mess. Hisaki gave Yuki instructions on how to get there, about how it was the fourth path from the left at the huge crossing, and to watch for burn marks and other little knickknacks littering the trails. He waved his final parting with a small 'Adios!' which Yuki responded with a curt nod, "Au revoir!"

The wall compacted itself to its original position. It was quiet now, and eerie. Yuki pride himself on their teamwork together, saying that they had surprisingly good chemistry when fighting, but now they had to do the exams alone. The blond sighed, he never felt this isolated before. Even in the Academy he tried to blend in with the crowd, or when walking around town he would do the same. However, now he was in this dark, damp, foul-smelling exam area where he was the only one around. The silence was deafening as he turned around and began to jog back the way him and Hisaki came. I can't psych myself out of this, I need to finish this exam. I cannot let Hisaki beat me at this, he'll never let it go! And with that, his jogging speed increased.

A clicking-clacking sound interrupted Yuki's sprint down one of the hallways, making the Genin stop momentarily. "This place was quiet..." He said out loud, obviously mocking the loud noises echoing from somewhere. He spun in a circle, trying to pinpoint where the sound was coming from. Half of him wanted to continue running, but the other half told him to stay, if he ran, he could be caught off-guard easier.

Then it hit him, literally, from what seemed like out of nowhere, he was pummeled in the stomach by something hard. Flying through the air, he had landed roughly on the clammy hallway. Yuki coiled up slightly from the ache he had felt from both the attack and the fall, before jumping up and assuming a defensive stance. He had been hit by what seemed to be a scorpion like beast. It's tail wasn't sharp and pointed, but instead was blunt. That is what hit me probably. Yuki thought as he examined the beast some more. The claws were removed had been replaced with sickle-like blades, which were similar to the feet of the scorpion, which were also just sickle-like blades. This is no ordinary beast, not only is it made from wood, but most of its limbs have been replaced with blades. It is probably a puppet! Yuki raised both eyebrows as he figured it out. Puppet masters are exceptionally brilliant, and just as deadly. To find himself come face to face with one, he was truly terrified.

"C'mon puppeteer! Where are you? Hiding as usual? Hmph, just like you cowards to hide from a real fight. Even I, a non-taijutsu user still doesn't hide from my opponents!" Yuki called out to the darkness, hopefully filling the puppet master with rage, provoking him to show himself. If he were to show himself even once, I could then try and track his movements while avoiding the puppet, since fighting the puppet is futile with a puppeteer controlling it. Yuki didn't have much time to think after that, as the puppet began to grind away at the floor, using some sort of jutsu to make the ground soft. The floor of the maze began to cave in, creating a sink hole like an ant lion would. Now, my tracking abilities aren't as good as Hisaki with his Byakugan, but if I pay attention to the subtle details, I'll get through this. As soon as he stopped to think, the floor beneath him began to sink up to his ankles. "Yikes!" He shouted, using a chakra boosted jump to get onto the nearby wall. He stood sideways on the wall as he scanned his area. He could hear someone talking in the distance, announcing their handseals as they made them. "What a rookie mistake!" Yuki shouted as he formed his own handseals faster than the puppet master. "Wind sickle justu!" He announced as he sent the wind based scythe towards the puppeteer. His opponent wasn't fast enough to react, and because most puppet-users are a bit frail, the jutsu had made impact. The puppet itself stopped moving, for it had been moving upwards along the wall where Yuki was, but wasn't fast enough. The other shinobi had been knocked out, much to Yuki's triumph. "Ugh, Chikako was a bigger challenge then you."

He quickly traced the ninjas mind, hopefully to gather some good intel. Much to his surprise, the puppeteer knew which way the nine-way intersection was. Using this information, he sprinted down the path towards the intersection, hoping to finally get out of this hell hole.

Sora watched as the Uchiha made various flips and perryes to get through traps that should be non existent if they were going the right way. Sora turned back to Jin and motioned towards him to come closer. "If you follow this guy, you are going to find yourself lost in the maze. Ive made my way to the center and through my route I can safely say that I did not run into a single trap" He said turning and going in the opposite direction. He had been lacing his tracks with a thin layer of silk from his bugs since he had first enter the maze, so following it back to the middle of the maze. Sora proceeded to lead the way back to the middle. He had been in this maze so long that he was starting to notice more and more familiar walls and actually started feel as though he was gaining a good understanding of his surroundings, something that scared him in a bit but none the less was eventually going to pay off. Sora followed his trail and easily cleared half of the distance to the middle of the maze. This was no longer a challenge of navigation, it was simply following the trail which proved to be childs play. Although he was given no signs that would indicate that viewers were watching him he did know that on occasion they would be watched closely, he began to run through the events of this test and determined that he showed a great tracker ability with his bugs, hopefully others would feel the same.

Jin and Sora both watched the Uchiha make his antics and move on in his own direction. Jin didn't need Sora to tell him not to follow the strange kid, to know that it would've been a stupid idea. For some reason, Jin couldn't shake the feeling that the Uchiha was simply trying to show off his abilities. But Jin didn't care. To Jin, the Uchiha was just some kid that had yet to realize he wasn't playing ninja in his backyard anymore but actually was in the real world now.

Jin turned to face Sora. Nodding his head, Jin moved in closer and listened to Sora's instructions. With a wordless nod, Jin followed his team mate into the maze and in the opposite direction of the Uchiha, yet again.

Aya had been in the cave for a while now, walking around the maze avoiding as many traps as she could, while she made her way though it, she had finally gotten to a slightly safer place, it was a corner of one of the maze turns, she had her bugs set along the two walk ways to the corner, as she warped herself in a blanket and just the transformation jutsu to make it and herself look like a rock as she took a nap, this allowed the bugs in her body to gain back they numbers they had lost.

As Aya was about to fall asleep she remember a few of the things she had been while in the maze, after getting away from some bats she had continued further into the maze, her eyes caught trapped just after the cave full of bats, it seemed that it had been placed to get people trying to escape the bats, it was lucky that she had kept her cool, the trap itself seemed to be a pit fall trap that was set of placing weight some of the tiles that lay on the ground. Aya noted this and moved to the edge of the cave as she made her way over to the other side of the trap, not so lucky for her was she didn't notice the bit of rock jetting from the wall, and when she moved to get around it, she set off that tarp falling into the hole.

Aya landing in a rather embarrassing pose as she landed in the hole, her butting pointing up into the air and her skirt having move so it was now on her back, exposing the spats she was wearing under her skirt, Aya released a sign of relief that no one was around to see that and that she had put spats on under her skirt. She still felt silly for falling into a trap she had notice, as she got up and brushed herself off, she placed her hand on the wall and ran it along the walls of the hole, they were at least 10 feet high, so not thing she would jump with the space in the hole for a run up, they were also smooth meaning it would be hard to climb them normally, and she would have to use chakra on and in her feet to get out, she moved to the wall and placed a small amount of chakra into her hand to get some grip before pulling herself up, she put one of her feet onto the wall and used chakra with them as well to push an pull her way up the wall.

Once again Aya walked her way around the maze of caves that seemed to make up the first part of this test, as Aya walked the caves she found a lot of traps had been set up but non of them seemed to be designed to kill those trapped in them, they seemed more designed to hold people up or keep them in one place, so that people could come and collect the trapped. As Aya was walking she notice some faint signs of life along the walls of the cave and on the ground, and that the bugs she had sent to scout ahead were disappearing, as she looked close she notice that they were rats, lots and lots of rats running towards her, Aya looked a little scared and then began to run the way she had just come to escape them, once she got to a junction she made a turn a kept running, soon getting herself lost from the markers she had made with her bugs, it was a little longer walking till she found the corner she was in now.

Flashback || Begins

As Aya fell asleep she began to dream of her time, before coming to the Leaf village, before she was taken away from that place. A little Aya sat in the corner of her room, it was a small room about one meter by two and a half meters, the only way into or out of the room was the large cold metal door on the other side from her, the only source of light came from the other side of that door, Aya had her legs pulled to her chest and was in a sitting fetal position, Outside the door written on it was 'SUBJECT 11'.

Sounds of doors being opened and sounds of battle could be heard, Aya just looked up and turned her head, the door opened and a man called to Aya, Aya looked back to see that the person was someone new, Aya stood and walked to him, she smiled at him like only a little could, the man looked at Aya a little strangely, it was strange to him, finding a little girl, the chakra patten of this little girl was similar to a missing Hyuuga he knew. "Hello, are you my new tester". Aya spoke up to the new person she had never meet, the man looked at the little girl, she looked to be about 5 maybe 6 years old, the other cells he had looked into were all people in they late teens to late twenties, most of the others had been killed by the time he got to this block, he looked down at her seeing her big eyes waiting for him to say something to her. "Not really, I am here to set you free". Aya looked at the man, tilting her her not understanding him at all, she smiled again and went back to the corner she had been sitting in, he had said the he wasn't here to test her, and the last part of his sentence made no sense to her, Aya had only left her cell to go to testing so if he wasn't here to test her, she assumed that meant she was to stay. "Ok then". Aya said sitting down and assuming her position again.

The man looked at the girl as she went back to sitting in the corner, he then move to her and patted her on the head, making her look at him, he knew right away after that, this little girl didn't know anything outside of this room and the testing that the people here put her though. "Follow me, I may not be testing you, but I still want you to follow me". The mans words were kind, and he pat her head, the sensation was new, but she enjoyed it a lot. Aya looked at him still confused, but she got up and followed him happily, it seemed like a good thing to do. The man went around the other cells and checked for others, he ended up finding a few little kids all around the age of five to eight, the other cells he found only contained the dead, which he made sure to keep around from the children, using his Byakugan to keep away from them.

Before long they were outside, with the ninja that had taken over the facility, they had taken the children out with them as they left, this was the first time Aya had been outside, an saw the outside world, this was new on the other children as well, all of them had lived inside that lab they entire life. The told the children what had happened, resulting in them being in there protection for now, after checking them to see if they would be able to travel, they set off back to the village.

Flashback || Ends

Aya moaned a little as she began to wake, wiggling a little causing her hiding place to be given away, she looked around her, a little unsure of where she was, until she remember she was in the middle of a exam, she got up and then looked at the paths, she sent a message to her bugs, getting a message back to go down the right tunnel.

After walking along the tunnel for a little bit Aya came to a opened clearly man made cave or room, in the center was stone pillar saying, 'Take One', Aya looked around an saw the boxes, only one wasn't opened so Aya went and opened that one, finding a small stone Kanji on a neckless, which Aya put on, and then looked at the other boxes, it seem like she had gotten to last one.

Yua moved quickly and silently she was ready to get out of the maze but she couldn't for the life of her figure out what to do at this point, she needed to figure out what the Kanji stone was for, also she wondered about Oasis, why had the girl helped her if she had already finished the task was it a true act of friendship or was she trying to get information about Mist country out of Yua. She couldn't figure it out but she figured she would see Oasis again perhaps she could ask then. Yua moved quickly around a corner and blended into the shadows, to conceal herself while she let her thoughts wander.

Sora began to pick up into a run now, he knew that time was starting to escape them. He had managed to get his stone, but if he was going to get Jin out of here with one he was going to have to be quick about it. What would he do if all of the stones where gone? He questioned himself, he was going to have to track down someone who had one and make a quick snatch. He thought about the Uchiha that he had just left, he seemed to already have a Kanji considering he claimed to know his way around already, Sora decided that if he was going to attack someone that he would be the best target. He already knew what he looked like, knew that he had a stone, and better yet knew his general location. Hopefully this information would not be needed however, and that they would manage to reach the middle of the maze and get Jin a stone before time was out.

Jin picked up his pace as well to keep up with Sora. Jin's own thoughts following the same line as he realized what was going on. They had been in the maze for an extremely long amount of time. It was one thing to struggle to get to the center but it was another thing to get to the center and then have to come all the way back to the beginning of the maze and return once again to the center. Along with having a bumbling idiot prove to lead you the wrong way as well constantly.

Jin had a hard time gulping down as the realization of just exactly what Sora was doing for him set in and hit him like a ton of bricks. Sora. A guy that since the academy hated his guts. Ignored him and treated him like s**t. Spat on his glory. Was actually helping him? Why. It wasn't even a question for Jin. Jin couldn't even form it into a question. So the word simply hung in the air around his head as he ran. Jin was being saved by a person that hated him. Was it because of so pride or loyalty to Lightning Country or the Cloud Village? That was a fat chance. Jin could have sworn he had seen Sora trying to slash his head band. Something that was a sure sign of betrayal of his Village and an act of a Missing Nin.

If it wasn't that. No, it obviously wasn't that. Definitely not after what happened to them after graduating. That bullshit, pathetic Raikage had actually tried to have them assassinated. Really?! REALLY?! The man was so pathetic. He seriously had Sora and Jin targetted because he didn't like that they got a little fresh with him. But who was he to complain?! He insulted THEM first! And worse off, when they called him out on it he tried to pull some stupid wisedom on them that made absolutely no sense due to the situation. The memory of it always pissed Jin off. It had ruined his pride in himself and worse off in his own country. But the fact of the matter was Jin and Sora had turned the tables. They had overcome the odds. Jin and Sora had beat the moron of an assassin. Who was foolish enough to tell them that he was the Raikage's brother. And further more the Raikage's complete plans.

Jin jiggled his jaw in thought. His eyes widened slightly. Maybe that was it. Maybe it was because of that incident? It wasn't exactly both of them that had been originally targeted. Jin was going to be targeted, but he didn't know that originally. Washi had only come for Sora at the time. Jin was for later. But without knowing anything, Jin had come back to save and help Sora. Maybe that had bought him some of Sora's trust and respect? Maybe it was just a repayment. But Jin wanted to believe it was more. That Sora would stop being such a hard a**. That he would see Jin for the epic and awesome shinobi he was and the legend he would be.

For a moment, Jin's hand touched the scroll that he had in his jacket pocket. It was a hidden scroll from his country. One of two. The other was in Sora's possession. Within the scroll was three unique and simply techniques. Simple, but very useful. The first and foremost was a cloning skill that was unique to the cloud village. It was a very costly technique but if used successfully it created three solid clones with a heightened combat ability. It was a very interesting concept behind how it was used but Jin had chosen to not to learn it. Such a technique, though it pained him to admit, was to much for him. Jin had attempted to learn it once but just testing it had left him completely drained. The second technique was a physical enhancer. But similarly it left him tired and his body creaking... The final technique however...

"Let's get out of here already. This is upsetting." Jin whispered softly in the dark of the maze as a pulse of static electricity passed through him but quickly faded away. The final technique. It was cheesy in title but quite advantageous for Jin's style. Through the use of static electricity Jin would be able to surround his entire body with a charge that would horribly disrupt his target's nervous system and put them in a state of paralysis. The electricity would also destroy and their internal organs. Slowly. But it would, so other time his target would become nothing more then a vegetable. The thought brought a small smile to Jin's face. However he quickly pushed it away. Right now, Jin needed a Calm Mind and Calm Spirit. Otherwise he was going to be stuck in this maze forever. That. That was something he wasn't going to allow happen.

Sora was getting tired of walking yet again, he was reaching his limit here and it was once again taking a toll on him. He stopped close to a wall and once again resumed his dismounting ritual. The puppet climbed down onto its knees and rotated its shoulders counter clock wise, releasing the latch on the coffen that rested on its back. The coffen opened and Sora stepped out and took a deep breath, "Its hot as s**t in there." He said rubbing his forehead and his eyes. His body was covered in sweat and it was obvious that his health was deteriating due to the small, yet constant tax on his chakras. "Just gimmie a sec" he said, leaning back to try and crack his spine back into a comfortable position.

[Now I'm angry]

Jin's eyes opened widely at the sight of Sora's puppet releasing Sora. This entire time he had been walking next to... A puppet? How did Jin not realize? Each time he had spoken, his lips never moved. The movements, they were strange. It almost made him want to smash Sora's head into the wall that he was resting on. How could he deceive him? How could he be deceived so easily. It was all too aggravating.

Forcing a grin onto his face, Jin walked over to Sora and relaxed next to him on the wall. "I guess now would be a good time for a rest, hunh?" Jin asked. Jin's eyes watched the wall in front of him. They momentarily watched the seal that had been found on all the walls but eventually he looked away and watched Sora. He was tired, it was easy to see. Was using a puppet really all that taxing? Jin could have sworn it was simply just pulling some strings and that was it. What could possibly be all that tiring about pulling some strings. Jin shrugged it out of his mind and glanced at the puppet itself.

If he had to admit one thing, it was that was one hell of a puppet. The design was by far a lot smoother and well structured then the one he had fought before. Let alone the one that had been practically reduced to scrap wood by Washi. This one looked exactly like Sora, it was amazing. "So." Jin said. He let the word hang in the air like it was a full sentence explaining everything he wanted to say and meant. After a moment he continued on. "If there are no boxes left. We'll have to find him again."
