(( It hasn't been raining much in Louisiana much either but there is a tropical storm that's supposed to form into a hurricane soon and head towards us. And they say that this year is when we're gonna have the most hurricanes too.))

((I don't think Alabama is in trouble for hurricanes cause the last times they talked about hurricanes in Alabama it just grazed past us. But I don't know. I hope there wont be any hurricanes In Louisiana or anywhere else. Because I think with everything happening it will just make things worse then they already are.))

((I understand hurricanes! Before living in MN, I used to live in Florida. In Naples, kinda near Miami, but the body of water it's closer to is the Gulf of Mexico. Hurricanes are very scary, but with the right precautions, you can either A) Take your chances or B) Get out of potential danger's way.))

(( Why the explanation mark? And it's not that scary. The only part we're worrying about is that if a hurricane comes, we're gonna have oil in our backyards and get tons of people sick. ))

((Ha, I don't know why I put it there. And they aren't like, "Omygawd let's go hide somewhere" scary, but more of just that the winds have tremendous force, so seeing trees bend over and break is kind of a terrifying thing to watch. I haven't gone through bad hurricanes. But the outer part of Katrina touched Naples. I sat by my window and watched the rain outside.))

(( Are you kidding me? They don't care about the levies right now. Right now they care about rebuilding the barrier islands like most citizens want them to do. If we had the barrier islands, we wouldn't need the levies. And now, thanks to BP, we have to worry about saving our economy. ))

((Oh god, don't even get me started about BP. God, they suck. Hm, isn't this the worst man made disaster in history? And my friends mom got gas at BP a couple of days ago. They're doing lame things like checking for windshield cracks. They said it was to make up for the oil spill. How does window-crack checking make up for gallons of oil spilled into the gulf? It doesn't.))

I wonder if they got done rebuilding those levies...? And I mean, on a scale, Katrina wasn't bad, but the damage done was BAD.)) ((No. Katrina was bad. Really bad. In the course of a month, they got like 112 inches of rain I think. Levies broke because the amount of water was too much for it to hold. You saying that the damage caused by the water wasn't bad, and the levies breaking because of the damage is bad, is like saying "Guns don't kill people, only bullets kill people" incorrect. Guns make the bullets, bullets kill. Katrina made the rain, rain broke levies and drowned like 100 people, and ruined 100,000 homes, caused trillions of dollars in damage, and 6 years later, not even close to being rebuilt. On a scale of 1-10, 1 being a small rain storm and 10 being a typhoon, Katrina was sitting at about...an 8. On the other situation with BP, people have to chill. Yes, it's bad. Yes, it spreads at the rate of a football field every second, yes, over 100 whales have beached themselves, and yes, it is not going to be fixed for years, but I mean, think about it. You guys probably don't know this, because you don't seem as in-tune to stuff as me, but the rate of successful oil transportation is 99.999%. Yes. Out of every 100,000 oil transports, containining as much or MORE oil that is coming out of the well, 1 of them spills. BP did cut corners, and didn't do the proper stuff they had to do, but it's already happened, instead of pointing fingers at BP, why don't we try doing something? The oil spill isn't hurting our economy. The amount of oil spilled, in contrast to the amount of oil we have and get on a weekly basis, that is like...a billion dollars, and it isn't our economy, because BP isn't an American Company. BRITISH PETROLEUM. Gosh...common sense. And they are giving out free wind-shield repairs to help show us that they care, and are trying to find a way to make it up to each and every citizen who buys their oil. It isn't going to make up for the oil spill, but it is some poor form of apology. And believe me, when you have a car, you will know, that that windshield repair, could save you like 300$.))

((@ Loda- Amen!
I have nothing to say about Katrina but do have something to say about BP. People really should just be quiet about the whole oil spill and help out instead. BP has pretty much taken the blame and any oil rig could have a spill. It happens. We can't stop it. BP isn't stupid and they shouldn't be yelled at for it because at least they are trying to make up for their mistake. It's like a company makes a mistake and people wont let them live it down. If people honestly care so much about the oil spill then they should get off their freaking butts, stop complaining, AND TRY TO HELP. I'm usually neutral about taking sides but seriously?! I'm sick of people talking about how BP screwed up. :/ ))

BP skipped billions of dollars in safety precautions, cut major corners, didn't have the proper surveying of the area, didn't use the equipment they should have, etc. It was an accident, but it could have been prevented.
