l i k e a f a m i l y l a u g h i n g l o u d ?  The wolf was lunging at him next, and James couldn't swing the heavy hammer he had very fast at all. The beast made for his leg, biting into it. He broke free eventually, but was limping along as they fought.

Chris felt helpless she had just given her weapon away even though she wouldn't have been able to use it.
Chris resisted the urge to run at James and fling herself in front of him,
She wouldn't have been able to though,
Her body was frozen from pure terror.

The wolf bore down upon Emma with such force as to knock her to the ground. With a deft flick of a foot, she managed to flip it off her, but not without considerable damage. The enchantress was bleeding from a number of bites and lacerations, her eyes unfocused as she was helped back to her feet.

In his efforts to get his wounded wife to her feet, the lord of Bainbridge won himself a few shallow cuts from the wolf.
Emma had shown no fear at her own wounds, but her eyes widened as she saw his blood.

He hadn't wanted to resort to this, it wasn't a pleasant experience.
Accompanied by the biting of his lip and a sort of grunt of pain, a wave of green energy erupted from the doctor's body and was sent straight for the wolf. It was in only a little more pain than he was.

A shield of braided violet and silver-blue slammed into place, serving a double purpose. The spores could not pass through the wall of flickering energy, and the wolf received a rather nasty shock from ramming into it.

A final swordstroke brought the creature to the ground, dealt by a somewhat distracted sorcerer. He was looking at Evros with interest as he drove the blade up through the wolf's ribs, the mental notepad and quill out and taking notes.

Dr. Cairndeer figured that it was already too late to have stopped it coming to this - so as they recovered from the battle, he extended a hand to Evros' arm. After more of the green energy flowed from the elf into the other doctor, the wound healed, albeit taking longer than a magic-user who practiced more frequently - or in the past fifty years, perhaps. The toxins cleared up after a few moments.
The human side of Kaok was still backed up against the cave wall, frightened for her life. After healing the alien, James assured her that it was alright. She moved forward and rejoined the group.
"I suppose we should go back and try one of the other locations then." The elven doctor sighed. "Though I'm at a loss for where she'd have gone if not here." o r a g a r d e n g a t e o p e n i n g t o

The nobles lowered the shield, healing each others wounds with a few whispered admonitions in Old English.
"Perhaps we should try the house next?" Emma put forth.
"Before that, how exactly do we get out of here?" Hrothbert added, gesturing to the forest around them.
