Sewing clothing together, BY HAND, is a very monotonous task. Just lettin' ya' know.
Well, for length, you'll want to make most threads at least 4-5 feet long;
you can cut off and reuse the excess, but if it's too short, then the stitching will be choppy and yucky.
You'll need to set on one specific set of stitches- for clothing, a straight up and down pattern should work nicely.
First you thread the needle- if you have difficulty, then you can spray the thread with hairspray. It helps, trust me.
After threading your desired length through the needle, you should tie a firm knot at the end.
Start underneath the fabric so the knot isn't visible, and then go over and under, pulling the thread VERY tight, until you've reached your ending point.
Your stitches should be quite close together since you're working on clothing. (RIPS IN SHIRTS AND SKIRTS AREN'T NICE.)
Once you're done, make sure you end underneath the fabric- so then you can knot the thread, as close to the fabric as possible, and quite tight. Then cut off the excess. <3
