Quietly, Kiba finished off the rest of the container. After throwing it away, the volunteer went ahead to go and throw it away. "I got you hot chocolate too. If you don't like it, I can go get milk or something." Kiba said quietly when he returned.

Nozomi wasn't sure if he should try to hot chocolate. What if it was too sweet much like the Ramune was? It would probably be a waste then, since he doubted that Kiba would finish it if it was rejected. Nonetheless, the mute boy picked up the mug and let his tongue soak itself in the brown liquid.
There was a slight warmth that ran over his taste buds and Nozomi retracted his tongue just briefly. The drink wasn't so bad, though it was sweeter than what he was used to. Still, the hot chocolate was acceptable.

Kiba watched Nozomi with a skeptic eye. "If you don't like it, just tell me." The young man sighed quietly as he leaned back into the chair. He hadn't bought himself a drink since he didn't have enough money to do so. He would have to return home and get some more money out of his piggy bank.
But a sudden beeping pulled Kiba out of his reverie as he stuffed his hand in his pocket for his phone. "Kyuuketsuki." He said into the phone. A sudden look jumped across his face as he recognized the voice. "M-mom...?" He whispered quietly. "No, I'm not at home." More chatter on the other end. "Oh, I see." More chattering, then silence. "Okay." Kiba answered, his face remaining emotionless as he hung up the phone. AWKWARD

At the very sound of Kiba acknowledging his mother, Nozomi had looked up, but he didn't hear anything of the brief conversation. Since there was nothing he needed to know, he went back to drinking the chocolate. He somehow felt the presence of a resentful hospital worker watching, but he saw no one at the door. It was probably just his imagination. After all, that presence had been there many times before.
Kyuuketsuki-san, is there something wrong? Nozomi wrote down, wanting to know if his caretaker was all right. This wasn't the only time the volunteer had had a strange atmosphere around him, but it still worried the mute boy nonetheless. Maybe it was just the phone call and thus none of his business, but the writing had been so instinctive that Nozomi wasn't able to stop it from appearing on the pages of his notepad.

Kiba looked down at the note for a second before smiling at the boy. The question was slightly prying, but Kiba didn't really mind. After all, Nozomi hadn't been around a lot of people in his life, so he wouldn't know what was prying and what wasn't.
"No, everything is fine." Kiba smiled lightly as he stood up from the chair. He wasn't exactly sure what his mother had wanted of him anyway, so he wasn't sure if there really was anything wrong or not. Actually, the fact that she had actually called him, the person she hated most in the world, was a problem in itself.

At Kiba's response, Nozomi sighed in relief. He wished, however, that he could have wrote a more polite question. His question seemed to refer to Kiba as a ver familiar friend. It wasn't that Nozomi didn't like the thought of having a friend. It was just that he felt that he had been rude. The volunteer didn't seem to mind, but it still didn't seem right that the question was written at all.
Oh, why was he moping about it? It's over with, and at least he wasn't too nosy. That should be the end of the concern. But Nozomi didn't have anything else to think about other than whether or not Kiba was feeling well. The slightest sense of discomfort was enoough to bother Nozomi, as it was evident before.
