@Karma - yea I was working a 11 hour shift (because all management had to) my last Picnic Day at UCD and one of my other student manager friends had her friends bring vodka and whiskey to our booths. Said other friend got TOTALLY smashed that day, I only got a little tipsy at work and then got very tipsy when we partied after work that night, but yea by 5pm when we got off - yup we started at 6am, god awful but it was actually really fun. We work booths that are really worked by volunteers who get money from us, so we sit and "supervise" aka drink and eat all the free root beer floats, corndogs, etc. Anyhow yea, they brought the guy I was working with whiskey in root beer - who was only a few years older than me but he's a manager manager aka my boss, yea that was fun stuff, he's awesome, he went over to the pub and got us margaritas too razz - and me Vodka and Dr. Pepper. Which sounds weird but, like you said, very oddly good. Actually never had that again, moved on to other things, maybe I should though. I wondered, I mean because yea while I do agree it's good I just don't think of many people putting vodka in Dr. Pepper. J's friends were just weird and didn't have many choices on what to sneak it into.

And well, again, it depends on the kind of wine (kind, year, quality, etc etc) - and then even with that it is an acquired taste. Mixed drinks are just easier to get in at first because they don't taste like alcohol as much. They don't burn (I might point out, I didn't always fan the burns, that was acquired as well ^_~) and they are an easier/familiar texture. Wine was the last thing I got into though - granted I will NEVER get into beer. With that it isn't just taste it's texture. It's like drinking sludge, why does anyone want to acquire a taste for that? It's also very bad for you (hello, beer belly for a reason!!) But I've gotten to the point where I find wine lovely.

Yea I tend to prefer platform heels myself. I borrowed stilettos from my friend once (and they weren't even true ones). OMG was so hard to learn to walk, and I still couldn't really do it. In the end I just had to be able to enter in them, but then I could take them off.

@Kits - Nu-uh, I totally go out of my way to trample that grass down and avoid hurting the sidewalk. HAHAHA, j/k j/k! razz

I figure it makes sense to design, but that's why I didn't really like it. It was to technical based and less creative based. Felt like torture.

Outfit sounds cute, did you want to be comfortable or where you protesting the formality of dresses or did you never realize that the majority of girls traditionally wear oversized Christmas tree skirts to prom?! Hehehe... rofl

You mean Japanese as a language? Because of schedule conflicts? That sucks. With French there are tons of offerings. And then even though with Attic Greek that isn't so, I always made it work, there are always tons of options of what to take as an English major for the most part, so I always ended up scheduling my major around Greek and band (fabulous right? hehe lol ). Anyhow hope you can work it out eventually, I find language courses to be very enjoyable and relaxing. I have to procrastinate with fun/creative stuff. It puts me in the right mood.

It really is, trying to think which characters I've personally done the biggest 180 on...should sleep soon so I'll think about it tomorrow.

Haha, you do that, yay days! Plus if you wait until everyone else is done with the finals haze, they'll probably be more responsive to an announcement/decision of some sort and be better able to decide what they want to do.

@Ketz: It's just the thought that freaks me out...
Too bad you didn't have as much as I did though lol it was fun!
Pictures were interesting lol
:3

@JK:Omg it's great seeing a boss drunk, My boss can dance with two girls and hold a drink in his hand. LMAO its yummy to me!! So good :3

Well hopefully when I get older I'll get better at knowing my drinks.
Eww I don't want a beer belly!!

Lol I've done that, worn shoes that ended up being a pain. Never wear heals to the mall >> bad idea...

Haha, it truly is, although again at the Picnic Day thing, my fellow student manager is only a year (a little less than I think actually) older than me, so she feels more peer than boss - which she is. And then D, my actual "boss" didn't really get drunk because he drinks A LOT and that's just not enough to knock him off his feet, what we got that day. Not that he's a lush or anything, he's just a big guy who regularly patronizes bars ^_~.

Though when I saw him last year at the next picnic day he'd lost SO much weight it was crazy. Apparently he got sick and then started drinking less, so yup, good way to lose that beer belly. It was the first Picnic Day in which I didn't have to work (save for fmen year when I hadn't heard of picnic day b/c I had no friends at college yet even though we were 6 months in so I accidentally went home). So I went back and crashed and was in the parade as such with the classics dept whom I love and miss - AND I was Helen of Troy...woot!

At first I was just going to be a soldier, than my friend who was coordinating my being part of this (even if I couldn't make meetings and stuff not being able to just go up to Davis everyday, being a 1.5 - 2 hr drive one way and all) asked if I wanted to be one of Athena/Hera/Aphrodite because they might need those (as the whole war IS kinda their fault - as much as it is Paris/Helen's, and Zeus's and she b***h who sent the three into cat fight mode in the first place).

I was like: ooh Athena!

And friend is like "no b***h she's mine!"

I'm like mentally "then why did you toss her name" and was like ok, "ooh Aphrodite."

And friend is like, "cool"

and I'm like "just not Hera, I hate that bitter brother marrying harpy."

Then a few days later she's like "how about you be Helen, having given master Classic's Dept costume organizer your measurements, we realize you already will fit that pre-made costume perfectly and it would be SO much easier to just put you in it."

Finally I'm like "how about you just stop telling me things and I'mma wear whatever costume you have for me when I show up?"

Friend is like "ok! It'll be Helen though."

I'm like "I'm forming no attachments."

But I got there and Helen costume it was, and such a pretty costume that oye I wanted to steal (except the head thing b/c that crap was EVIL!!) but I did not because I love Classics and could never steal from them. I shall just attempt to find pretty fabric and make my own one day (minus head thing of evil). But yea, fun day, except Paris kept ditching me to hang with Aeneas, bah, some boyfriend. S'ok, I hung with Aeneas too - in between trying not to get captured by the Greeks and handed back over to my so-so husband. I also had bonding time with Cassandra and Hector, as if we'd all been friends in a modern day Greek class the year before, and I was not going to be the cause of both their deaths (and in Cassandra's case, her rape as well). Although you know, Cassandra could also be to blame for that war - if she'd just done her job and banged Apollo she would have been able to save all of Troy! Having pointed this out Cassandra agreed to stop blaming me, and we just once again turned our focus on those darn goddesses and that apple throwing she-whore (who did not make the cut to be in the parade). Hooray!

Anyhow sorry that was WAY long...but...pictures:

http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=2388890&id=3205737&l=c156463aa6

Haha, yay! Anyhow my goal is to go again this year, not sure what theme they are going with yet, perhaps Bacchanal revel, which might be fun. Sneak flask or two into the parade (rather than just before the parade), dress the men up as centaurs...should be classy...^_~

To end on shoes, the sandals I got to be Helen - SO cute, but so not conducive to a long day of walking (owie!!). They were flat too, but they cut a bit, so yea. I wore heels to the mall this past Saturday actually, but they were boots, and I'm pretty good in boots so long as I don't hike around Berkeley for 8 miles to and fro and wherever we go (never again! ~_~).
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 12:59 pm

By the way, don't be confused if you look at the pictures and see a nymph standing with the three goddesses holding the apple. She is not the she-whore who caused a war and destroyed Troy. She is Thetis - although, it was her marriage to which Eris (aka goddess of discord aka she-whore) was not invited that that apple tossing occured (umm yea, Eris kinda gate crashed to stir s**t up). So maybe she like could take a little blame, granted Zeus is the one who threw the party and didn't invite Eris - so that's all back on him again.

Trojan war fault of: *insert giant list of names here*

Trojan war not-fault of: umm...babies? And Hecuba. Maybe...^_^

Is that what a lush is? I was getting teased about it at work because I wanted vodka in my Dr. Pepper XD

Lol ah we talked about beer and belly's over pms did we not. Very fascinating. That sounds like...Such an adventure lol, and the names prety epic, Helen of Troy.

Lol dude this sounds like fun.

LMAO aww you didn't get to even be who you wanted...But it still sounds like you had a ton of fun.

Ohh making you're own will be fun, at least I think so...Until I get so stressed! And I hate when people do that, especially for boyfriends! grr I have bad experiences with that, I'm too kind >> Oh wait your boyfriend ditched you haha in that case...It's still the same, it sucks XD but heck they do that. They get distracted like puppys. Only not as cute, but they do want to play a lot. Ugh boys...lol
I need to read up on some greek, I had no idea all of this had gone on..lol that's just not my topic...But you seem like a horrible person, I mean...You're character did.

Cute pictures! I love the outfits...I want to have this sort of fun T________T

a centaurs outfit would be sweet 0-0 very hard though.

I'm such an emotioncon whore...Btw....

lol mine were just small heals not boots. I want some boots though!

lol thanks for the explanation.

For some reason I can't think of the right Trojan when I see that word...I just think of the stupid commercials...Actually those condom commercials are getting risky! I need to stop watching tv XD *random*

@JK: Yes, design has always been far too technical for me. I'm an organic draftsman, dammit!
Outfit for prom was kind of a mixture of things... don't like dresses to begin with; just awkward for me. Wanted to be comfortable. Somewhat protesting the formality of dresses, though it was more protesting society's definitions of what formality is for different occasions to begin with, and what formality is for each gender. Also, I wanted something I could sleep in, because I don't really wear pajamas very often... I usually sleep in my clothes because they're more comfortable to me, and I wouldn't' want to change outfits just to fall asleep. XD;;
Yeah, it's quite difficult to schedule things around art classes, because they're 3 hours per class, twice a week. And there aren't many options for what to take, so you have to be specific. There's just no way to put a different type of class as the scheduling priority. But thank you. I love foreign language classes as well. ^^
Oh, that's a good point. ^^ I'll wait until after finals then to make the announcement.

@Karma: Yeah, I wouldn't have minded having more, but when I start to feel sick to the stomach, I know it's time to stop. Stupid sensitive stomach...
You got pictures? o.o Mind sending them to me? ^^

@JK: Love the Trojan War. <3 Always such an interesting story... sounds like you had a lot of fun. =D
Haha, apple-throwing she-whore... XD

@Karma Haha, yes. Well, lush has two definitions - the first of which has to do with vigorous growth, rich taste and being luxurious (I have a feeling that's not what your coworkers were mocking you for). The second is used to describe one who is a heavy drinker. Always good to look up what people call you ^_~, though I assume you could have figured it out based on verbal context and the situation.

Yea, I love mythology - was ever a huge Helen fan actually, but I did like being Helen in the parade, a very glamorous role ^_~.

And it's TONS of fun. I was sad I couldn't be part of the parade my senior year at Davis (the year I'd been getting into stuff with the Classics Dept) because of work. So I was thrilled I could take part the year after I graduated. Though being whoever would have been fine with me, so long as I was in it. Being a goddess would have been born in retrospect, their big scenes were pretty much fighting over the apple. Being a soldier would have been fun, however trying to not get kidnapped and returned to my husband Menelaus and then skipping off with Paris (armed with his bubble wand - yea the Classics Dept does not have a high opinion of Paris, he was put into a glittery gold costume and given a wand, hahaha) was fun too.

It'll be awhile before I can make my own since I can't really sew, although, mostly it'd probably be my mom making it. I need to find the pattern though, or a similar one, to do it. That'll be the hard part. Finding a pattern I find fitting.

Hahaha, and he's not my real boyfriend fyi, not sure if you got that. Hahaha. Paris and Helen are boyfriend/girlfriend. I had only met that guy that day. That's why he kept ditching me to hang out with Aeneas because they were friends, and then that's why I hung out with Aeneas, because I knew him from Greek class the year before. Personally I wish he'd been Paris instead, he'd have been more attractive, but I don't see him consenting to a glittery dress and wand. Oh well ^_~.

You've never heard of the Trojan war?! REALLY?!? I mean everyone's at least heard of the Trojan Horse. Heck you didn't even see that BADLY done movie with Brad Pitt and Bloom?! (It's wrong FYI, SO wrong, but it I GUESS gives you the gist of the story). Never had to read the Odyssey? Or the Iliad?! *is shocked*. Yes, you seriously need to go read some Greek, everyone today should at least know THAT tale.

It really was fun. And yea I dunno if they could actually get the centaurs off the ground, but if they could, it would be amazing. Glad you liked the pictures.

I figured yours weren't boots, just pointing out that boot - even with heels - are just usually easier, I dunno why, they usually fit better and have a more practical arch even if they are ridiculously tall. They platform more than heel.

Haha, I think it too, and I've been immersed in the "right' Trojan (har har har pun) for years. I don't think Trojan was actually a good choice for a condom brand, it maybe rolls off the tongue better than Greek condoms, but come on, they lost the war!! It's pretty much saying: Looks good, feels good, doesn't work for it's intended function. Same with schools having "Trojans" as their mascot, I mean, do you want to lose? Or do you just hope for the irony of a Trojan win?!?
PostPosted: Mon Dec 14, 2009 9:15 pm

@Kits - Hmm, actually, sleeping in your clothes sounds SO weird to me, haha. I've never heard of anyone doing that. It's a huge discomfort to me to do so. I only do it if I really don't want to pack PJs or end up crashing somewhere unplanned. Even then I usually try to borrow sleep things. I also don't like to sleep in something worn, I'd feel like I was dragging the grime of the day into bed - as I usually go hike or do something active everyday I probably really would be.

Yea, part of why I switched out of Design was because it completely conflicted with Band and that was too important to me. Yup changed majors for an elective - but in truth that wasn't the ONLY reason or I probably (yea only probably) wouldn't have done it.

TROJAN WAR AWESOME!!! Go educate Karma, she's apparently very lacking. But yea, playing Trojan War was VERY epic, and it's reasons like this I give when people ask why I want to go back to college ^_~.

@Ketz: Aww poor belly!! Yea I don't have any yet. But I will as soon as I see em :3

@JK: LMAO yea I Figured it out, and I was like "NOO I don't want to drink every day!!

I must just go to sucky schools and places, but this was already decided lol you have better things to do T___T lucky! lol jk sorta...
Hmm glittery with a wand...Lol interesting.

Yea takes a few hours of flipping through books and in te end they don't even have it...

No after further reading I understood XD he makes a bad fake boyfriend then!

Aww only gutsy men can do glitters and wands then.

No no I have lol they got into that big horse yes! Never saw that movie though 0-0 I read and watched Odyssey, not sure about Iliad though. XD what the Iliad? Well tell me what its about and maybe I had read it.

Yea I don't get that eather, boots just rock more I guess.

LMAO wow thats fantastic! I never thought of it that way, someone should point it out XD
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 8:25 pm

Ok SO just added that video to my favorites, hehe...^_^

I think it's more about finding the awesome within your community. I mean it wasn’t really until my senior year that I discovered the awesome that was the Classics Dept. I had my job and that had awesome people, and as of junior year I liked my major (English - though not so much the people, I mean I had MY friends, but most English majors - well, we won't go there). And I had band from Spring Quarter freshmen year. But I think Classics is THE most awesome thing - for me personally - but it took me awhile to find that niche.

Haha, yes, very bad fake boyfriend. Heck it probably woulda been WAY better if (a) I had a real boyfriend who'd (b) play my fake boyfriend...^_~. And Paris is a WUSS!! Bloom kinda depicts that in Troy, but really, Paris is MUCH more wussier than that. He's like, the mega wimp. Hence glitter and wands...he's probably a Sparklepire.

Troy movie = so so, there is a made for TV movie that is better. It's less: HERE ARE A BUNCH OF BIG NAMES and more accuracy of story and portrayal of classic characters 3nodding .

Yea boots are pretty much the ultimate in foot apparel so far as I'm concerned.

Well I've pointed it out several times on several occasions but APPARENTLY nobody wants to listen to me, so whatever. Have a fail mascot, see if I care!! Even Spartans is kind of an "eh" mascot. I mean sure Thermopylae (that 300 story - movie, pretty accurate if a little overacted) is pretty epic - but the point is they STILL lost. And it was those boy loving Athenians - woot woot - who actually defeated Xerxes and the Persians in the end. Umm..yea I have a special hard on for Athens I have to say, haha, I mean I studied ATTIC Greek (and New Testament, but primarily Attic), Athens was kinda the focus of my class.

Yet, you never see a school/team/etc using Athenians as their mascot, they are the leaders in philosophical/westernized thinking PLUS they were military excellence (proving - oh yea, it IS brain over brawn that wins out in the end). Yet nope, let's be Trojans and Spartans?! WHAT THE HELL?! Ok Athenians doesn't roll off the tongue as well, but still, who picks the loser as their signature?! Oye THIS is the problem with society...~_~.

Lmao it is how the movie is really xD So funny! The girl did a good job as Bella.

lol no ask Ketz, this place is boring!! And they wont go the the fun places with me D: THEY are lazy!! lol jk jk

We'll his name is Paris for starters XD hehe I wonder if there is some sort of joke there. Boyfriends are only good for gifts hehe jk!!

The names could be worse though xD like...The rainbow clouds! So evil sounding haha....
Almost as threatning as the boy loving athenians XD

See now that would be more of a kick a** name lol the Athenians! XD Maybe this society is just going for the underdog?
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:08 pm

Yea but the Jacob was CREEPTACULAR! Hahaha. Although Lassie was adorable.

Aww, darn lazy people not going to these mysterious fun places of which you've given no detail, hahahaha. Well I've gone to a lot of fun places alone - it's how I ended up in the wonder that was Classics in the first place, so maybe you could dare to venture such?

Man, I'd LOVE to be a boy loving Athenian - ok that TOTALLY does not sound right, haha, but you know what I mean ^_~. Although imagine THOSE halftime shows...mmm, epic nosebleeds!!! hahaha. How about the fluffy kittens? Then at halftime cages of fluffy kittens can be let loose on the field. It would be ADORABLE!!! The opposing team would be so caught up in the sway of cute they'd be completely distracted, brilliant it is, sheer brilliance!!!

I think there is a difference between underdog and dead dog, but mkay. Haha, I think they just count on the fact that the majority of people don't actually know their classical stories.

Lol yea I love that part where he's like "I will destroy you!" To the dog XD

I don't like being alone! Lol I'm not good at it...

LMAO yes! They would be the best halftime shows ever!
That is very brilliant!

LMAO that's true, but I still knew about their fail...They did make a sweet wooden horse though!
PostPosted: Tue Dec 15, 2009 9:58 pm

That was cute.

Yea I find I do, but I am a bit of a freak o_O'''

I would DEFINITELY go to more events for those halftime shows ^_~ - err, so long as those "boys" were actually young adults who LOOK like teens (teens not children, I mean the Greeks were more about pederast - teens - than ***** anyhow). However law breaking bad, so, no literal displays of course.

Yes the GREEKS did make a sweet wooden horse. Haha ^_~.
