The man frowned down at Rory, but took his leave anyway, telling himself he'd done enough for the moment. At least they weren't being affectionate, right? Heading back to finish preparing what he'd been working on before, he couldn't help but overhear that Rory also planned to take over his job one of these nights. He looked back, frowning even more, his jealousy growing further.
Lee tilted her head. "Yeah, I think they'd like that. I mean, as long as you cook them something they're sort of used to. I don't think they'll be too quick to try anything too different, ya know?" Not that they really kept any rabbit meat or anything in the kitchen anyway.

"Well, yeah, I'd just use what's here already. Nae sense in buyin' somethin' special just fae one meal," Rory said, nodding. "Think it'd be a nice gesture t' say thanks fae puttin' up wi' me fae th' week."

Aside from occasionally fondling their daughter, Rory hadn't been too bad a guest. "I'm sure they'll appreciate it." Honestly, she wasn't too sure at all, but hoped at least her dad would appreciate the gesture. She laughed a bit, taking another bite of her food and silently hoping Ki Du was either contained in his carrier or behaving himself.

Finishing up with his food, Rory settled back in his chair, sipping his wine. "Sorry I didnae make dessert fae you, but there weren't time before you came down."

Lee smiled over to the boy, shaking her head a bit. "That's okay. I wasn't expecting one, anyway." Finishing up her meal, as well, she offered the last of her wine to Rory, not really wanting the rest. It was great wine, sure, but it was a little early for her.
"M-miss Lee? I-I could make you a dessert, if you'd like. There's already some pastry dough in the refrigerator, if you're interested. It would only take about ten or twenty minutes to prepare." His blush was back, and he was straightening out his apron nervously as he spoke. Apparently he'd heard Rory again, and hoped he'd get a chance to impress her himself.
Lee blinked up at him, grinning wide. "Really? Yeah, sure, that'd be great. Make it strawberry, kay?" She smiled and shrugged over to Rory, not thinking he'd have a problem with someone else cooking for her.
"Yes, Miss Lee." He smiled and bowed, his eyes glued to her as he did so. Taking the couple's plates, his hands shook as it neared Lee's, and didn't stop shaking until he'd walked away from them.

"Well, I ain't opposed t' dessert," Rory said, smiling at Lee. He got up to fetch the wine bottle for refills, at leas to his own glass if Lee didn't want anymore, and sat back down, pouring more wine in his glass. "I been thinkin', lass, w' spendin' all this time here wi' your parents an' w'll be leavin' in a few more days. Shouldnae w' be talkin' wi' them about th' handfastin'?"

Lee blinked over to Rory, tilting her head a little. "What would we ask them? I mean, they don't really know anything about handfasting... the traditions and all that. Actually... I don't either, really." Apparently her parents weren't the only ones that needed to be filled in.

"Well, faeget fae th' while tha' me mum wants it done traditionally an' just try t' imagine what sort o' weddin' you always imagined fae yourself," Rory suggested, shrugging a little. "E'eryone will be lookin' at you anyway. You're th' bride. It'll be your day."

Lee sat back, letting her eyes wandering a bit. "I never thought about it, really. I always figured my mother would plan it for me." And, to be honest, it was the one time she hadn't cared about something being controlled. What did she have to plan? Well, there was the dress, of course, and probably what Rory wore, too. The decorations, the flowers (because there had to be flowers, of course), the cake, the tables, the plates and cups and silverware on the tables... "Maybe we should hire that wedding planner my mom was talking about..." With only a month to prepare, they could use the professional help.

Rory leaned forward, taking Lee's hands in his. "Start small, lover. Favorite colors or flowers? Maybe a style dress you like?" He smiled, completely supportive of her and open to her ideas.

"My favorite color is blue, but that's not my favorite color to wear... I like roses, I guess, but I don't know about too many other flowers to pick a favorite. Dresses, I have a closet full of dress styles that I like." She sighed, realizing none of her answers were really committing. Her mind was just swirling with more details she needed to figure out, like what the guests would eat, whether or not there was a flower girl, and if so, what she would wear, whether Lauss would play any role in the wedding, if there were such things as bride's maids in handfasting, if Rory needed to pick a best man...

Rory thought it over. "Guess w' do need tha' planner, but . . . I donnae want a production. Handfastin's are suppose t' be small, intimate. It's about love an' th' person you wanna be with." He took Lee's hand in his again. "When they tie th' ribbon around wor wrists, it's a symbol o' th' bond w' hae wi' each other. I donnae know tha' I'll want hundreds o' people there. I just need you." He gave a small lopsided grin. "Fae th' sake o' th' weddin', w' need witnesses, too, but tha's just t' make it official. All I need is you. Donnae e'en need a handfastin' t' know that I'll spend th' rest o' me days wi' you."

Lee gazed back at him, looking into his colorless eyes for a moment before her eyes fell back down onto the table. "You're sweet..." She laughed softly, then looked back up at him. "I dun want a lot of people there. Only people we know. Like, really know." No fifth cousins twice removed or anything. No Hailey, either. Not that she'd attend anyway, though. "But is it okay that I want it to look nice?" Nice meaning perfect, of course.
The cook continued to work on Lee's -- and apparently Rory's as well -- pastry, though couldn't help but frown at Rory's little speech. It just wasn't fair, that after waiting as long as he had that Lee would meet someone and decide to marry him after a couple of months. He hadn't even been given a chance. If only she'd waited a few more months to run away, then he could have made his move. Later he'd have talked to her. Well, someday, at least.

"Yeah, I want it t' look nice, too. Maybe we can get me a black suit with a red tied. You know, tha' dark red you like t' wear. W' could prolly find roses t' match fae th' bouquet," Rory suggested, shrugging a bit. "My mum could make your dress--white, o' course--an' th' dresses o' whome'er you want fae bridesmaids. W' can ask your da t' buy th' suits fae me an' me best man, which I guess would be Faolan. He's my closest relative an' th' only real friend I hae tha' I ain't marryin'."

Lee cocked a smile for Rory, nodding a bit. "You'd look nice in that. That would make the colors white red and black, then, right?" She sat back, a little surprised to hear they'd be picking bridesmaids and a best man. "Handfastings have those?" She sighed as she thought, trying to think of who to ask. "I only know of asking Ellandra... maybe your sisters... Do handfastings have a flower girl? Kendra could be it, if they do. All my other friends, though... I haven't talked to them in a while. It would be kinda weird suddenly asking them to be my bridesmaids." She frowned, for the first time wishing she'd kept in better contact with her buddies from school. They'd probably find it a bit odd, though, that she was getting married so young. And to a pikey. "I should at least call Akira, though."
