"I mean, I dont trust either of them-" I spared another glare for Chistopher "-But she did save you before." I said, thinking about that guy that injured Charlette, breaking her arms and cutting- I jumped off of that train of thought.
"True," Charlette agreed.
"Then do you want to try this?" I asked her.
"No." Christopher growled.
"Yes." Charlette said at the same time.
I grinned.
"The lady over-rules you," I told Christopher.

My eyes widen.
Then narrow dangerously. I lunge and my hands grip Christopher's throat, my nails digging into his vampiric flesh. He chokes and grips my wrists.
"Get off of me mutt," he manages out between my hands.
"You do know, brother-dearest, that if you're plan had taken effect, then Charlette herself would have died?" Claire says, appearing behind Christopher, and running her hands through his hair. Her hands gripped his jaw and Christopher's eyes widened slightly.
I let go of Christopher and staggered back. Christopher didn't fight against his sister. It was as though he didn't realize she was there.
"Illusions," I whisper.
I kneel and help Charlette to her feet, the wound in her stomach already healing.
Suddenly, even though there's no physical wounds, Christopher screams in pain.
Claire lets go of her brother and he falls to his knees, his eyes widened, gasping for breath.
"Don't try anything, Christopher dear," Claire says lightly, skipping forward and kissing me on the cheek, then disappears.

"I guess we should get home. Leave Christopher here to suffer a bit more, have him walk back to where ever he crawled from. Then I guess we should try this," I hold up the forgotten bag.
She nods.
"Good plan. But I think-" she yawns "-we need a nap first."
"I agree," I say, kissing her on the lips again, then leading us back to the car.
I help her into the car, then go to my side. After we're both buckled in, I start the car and drive back to my old house.
"We're home," I say, then realize Charlette's asleep. I pick her up and carry her in, laying her on an already made bed, then I go and fetch all her belongings we got from her house.

I jump as I hear the covers move
"Oh, you're awake," I smile at Charlette.
"How long have I been asleep?" She asks.
"Not very long. Just ten or so mintues," I say, walking over and laying on the bed, wrapping my arms around her waist from behind and drawing her closer.
"I could get used to this," she says, cuddling closer.
"I think I'm already used to it," I say, kissing the back of her neck.
Within a few minutes, I'm dozing off.
"Sweet dreams," I whisper to Charlette groggily.
"Hope so," she mumbles. Or maybe she said something else, and that's what I made it out to be.

"Listen, Charlette-" I ran a hand through my hair, heaving a sigh "-He gets under my skin. You should understand that, with Claire. I wasn't thinking, and-"
"-And you were going to kill him. I. Love. Him. Christopher, you need to understand that. There's a very slim chance that you and I will ever be together in a relationship," Charlette snapped. I grimaced.
"You feel nothing towards me, Charlette?" I asked, stepping closer, until we almost touched. Surprisingly, she didn't step back like I thought she would.
"Nothing," she said with a tone of finality in her voice.
I closed the small amount of distance between us, my lips on hers. She kissed back for a moment, then turned her head to the side, breaking the kiss.
"That didn't feel like nothing," I said, taking a step back.

"Then think about it Charlette. I'll always be there for you, even when William isn't." I told her.
"He will always be by my side," she retorted.
"You don't know everything Charlette." I whispered.
"What did Claire do to you, when we were in the woods?" Charlette asked, changing the subject.
I cringed.
"Things from other cycles." I murmured.
"Like?"
"You. Wars. Deaths. I have seen so many of my friends die Charlette. I've watched you die in so many cycles, that I've-" I bite my lip "- become slightly over-protective of you."
"How many...cycles has it been?" She asked cautiously.
"For you? This is your 41st one. For me. This is my 25th one." I mumble.
"Do you remember everything from your other cycles?"
"Yes. You'll probably start to remember them soon. They'll first come in flashes. One second, you'll be sitting next to William, the next you'll be twirling around a ballroom with me. It happened and it was real, but all you can do while you get these flashes is sit and watch. Later, when they become more powerfull, they'll become dreams. You'll be in a coma-like state for a few days, while you get the memories." I informed her.
"Have we really danced in a ballroom?" She asked, looking at me.
"Come here." I demand, smirking. I take her face gently in my hands and place my forehead on hers.
"Calm down," I whisper, feeling her urge to back away.
In an instant, we're both twirling around a ballroom, both of us have the same faces and bodies as we do now, but I'm dressed in a black suit, and Charlette in a blood red dress.
Breathing heavily, I break away from Charlette, ruining the memory.
"What's wrong?" Charlette asks quickly, taking a step toward me. I put up a hand, to stop her advancing.
"Go back to your William, Charlette. You'll get these memories soon enough," I tell her, turning my head to the side and avoiding looking at her.
"Christopher..." she trails off, coming closer and tracing a scar I forgot that I had on my neck. I shrink back.
"I'll stay close," is all I say before I disappear from her view.
I touch the scar, the twisted and white skin a reminder of how truelly cruel fate is.

I stuffed the flashlight in my pocket and held the umbrella over Charlette's folded form.
"Char?" I whispered, crouching, but not touching her.
"Are you alright darling? It's raining, and nearly two in the morning." I informed her.
She still didn't move.
I reached out tentatively and stroked her cheek, pushing back some soaked hair. She flinched at my touch and blinked, looking up at me.
