They say what happens at band camp stays at band camp, right?
No, not really.
This year at band Camp, like every year, we have a party on the last night- DJ and everything.
However some people got a little too crazy and out of hand.
At first, in the basement of the girl's rooms, guys were just hanging out, eating and such. No problem with that.
And someone had to come in with ICY-HOT.
For those of you who don't know what that is, icy-hot is a muscle reliever that stings bad to releieve pain.
However, guys used it to touch themselves, and then it must've stung like a... Well, you know.
I went down there to see what was going on. I was luckily not forced to participate in something that disturbing.
The band directors (who were drunk, lol) had to make the boys leave. The girls finally went to bed, and that was the end of it.

...Have you ever heard of a Fun Bucket?
If not.. dont do it! D:
Its tradition every band camp for the trumpet section leader to create this "Fun Bucket" they keep it secret, cause its not allowed at camp
essentially its anything with sugar in it, mixed together, Pixie sticks, Energy drinks, Kool-aid, syrup. Its disgusting, and they take turns drinking from it getting wired
its scary stuff

Week one: Rookie camp. We get all the new people for three days (I think) for the basics of marching. Section leaders are the teachers, and everyone (yes, even pit) learns how to march. Basics from 8:00 - 5:00 for those three days.
Week two: Percussion Camp. Percussion (pit and drumline) work on their music with their subsections and then all together from 8:00-6:00 for five days. It should already be learned by this time, so percussion camp is supposed to be nothing but cleaning the music. We usually have someone come in from a college band or two, and we have a lot of people from drum corps come in to help throughout the year. (Scott Johnson, Brett Khun, John Wooton, etc. have been here to help).
Week three: Band Camp The wind veterans FINALLY join in, and we have camp 8:00-8:00 for five days (with lunch/dinner breaks). Usually thirty minutes of working the show, thirty minutes of basics, back and forth. During dinner, we eat in the band room and watch DCI videos. We end with initiation for new section leaders, drum majors, and rookies (and, when applicable, a new band director). They're called to attention and smeared with shaving cream. Then, an all-out brawl of white foam encompasses our band field.
Percussion section leaders/rookies have to go for three weeks, wind section leaders/rookies have two weeks, wind vets have one week.

Well, I'm going into my sophomore year so I've only been through one band camp. And I loved it. Even though I was sweating all day in the sun, running around on the band field and getting yelled at and crying I had fun. I spent the day with all of my friends and I learned so much. We also got so much accomplished in those two weeks. Band Camp is so worth the tears and tan lines. heart
Anyways, we have a drum corp coimg practice at our school the first day of band camp, so they cancelled that day. Then, the Tuesday and Wednesday is only for the newcomers. Thursday until the next Friday EVERYONE has to go and we will be putting on drill those next seven days. Our show is going to be based on the Mask of the Red Death so it'll be interesting. mrgreen

So you gotta read this one time at band camp story.
We just had band camp, I got back today.
So one time, at band camp, we were walking over to the field and it had rained that night so the ground was wet. One bass drum left his case out, and the other tripped over it going down a hill. No harm right? well the bass drum guy had his drum on him and he fell straight to the ground Him and his drum flew between two girls. He then had issues getting abck up from that because his ankle had already been messed up. When the drum went through the two girls they both got hit in the head and one got a bad bumb and the other one had an abraisian of about 2 inches and was bleeding like crazy. Band director? Doesn't notice they're missing til half an hour later. when we tell her what happened, she freaks out goes to the girls (who were sitting out) and then went and yelled at the guy who had fallen and hurt the two girls, as if he didn't feel bad enough.
All in all that was a pretty amusing band camp story. None of them are seriously hurt at this point though XD thye mostly all better :3
