Yeah, I'm pretty sure Alex isn't into that kind of crazy self-mutilation.
Also, my 7th grade teacher bit most of his tongue off when he was a kid (twas an accident. Had his tongue out when landing during a big jump into a snowbank) and he managed to live.
Though he has no feeling in the tip of his tongue...
