A more childish part of Rhys squealed in joy as Isadora gave him the shield. Ever since he was young, listening to his uncle's mercenary tales, he'd wanted to be a great warrior, brandishing sword and shield in epic battles for love and honor! Back before he'd understood that taking lives wasn't all it was cracked up to be, of course, but the dream of at least looking like a noble knight was now... oh, about one-fourth realized. He couldn't help himself--he fiddled around with the shield, slipping it on over his right arm.

"Nyurrrgh! It's... so... heavy... argh!" Rhys struggled with the extra weight for a bit, but managed to lift it up with just the one arm, smiling as he raised it proudly over his head.

Now kneeling on the couch, Rhys gently placed the bottom of Isadora's shield on the back of the couch so it faced the prone Madrianna. Then he set it down again, happy that he could move it. It WAS a large shield, after all.

"NOBODY EVER LOVED ME! NOBODY EVER LOVED ME! NOBODY EVER LOVED ME!"

Neros jerked up again, startled at the voice. It was an exclamation so sharp and loud that it had penetrated even the attic. What shocked him even more, however, was how familiar the voice was.

Now he had to know what was going on down there.

Dropping the severed head and punting it again, Neros whipped around and flew out the hatch. He left it open (but no ladder to lead up to it) and dashed down the corridor.

The more he ran, he more he sensed Rhys's presence mingling with Amelia's. Isadora was there as well, but his resentment and jealousy was reacting more to the former as he realized they were probably together. A fourth, foreign presence aside from the morphs was there, but he didn't care about that.

Neros burst into the room where the hostages were being kept. As soon as he arrived, he saw the blanketed figure.

He completely ignored everyone as he quietly approached, knelt down, and removed the blanket.

Neros bowed his head. He mourned in silence, shakily tracing his claws over Madriana's cheek.

As the paladin walked down the hallway, she heard the running pace of the footsteps. Turning around to see who it was, she saw nothing but an empty hallway.

"Odd...." Isadora muttered before turning around as continued her walking. Usually, she would see any one of the Heroes in the hallway or a room she would pass. However, the only Hero she saw was Ledreak where Rhys and Amelia were at. As for the rest, it was unknown to her where they were. Tension began to heavy on her shoulders.

Maybe Amelia isn't the only person who needs tea to settle the nerves.... Isadora thought. As much as she hated being a captive in her ally's territory, it was a good thing she knew this manor well. Any unfamiliar places would lead she to confusion and lost.

Then, she noticed something odd. The air...... It was...... It smelled..... delicious? Smelling the aroma, Isadora guess that someone was in the kitchen, cooking. It was odd to the paladin. Usually, the enemies would not care about the cooking...... So who was cooking?

Wishing that she hadn't left her shield to Rhys, Isadora stood next to the door frame. She wished she had a weapon to attack whomever was in it. However, if it was a Hero, she didn't want to put Amelia and Rhys in much danger. Carefully and alarm, Isadora looked into the kitchen.

Standing before the oven was one of the Heroes she saw earlier. The one who she doubted was the leader. And it seemed that this big fellow was cooking. Isadora blinked.

Maybe I was wrong about him being the leader Isadora thought. Surely, no leader would cook for others. Unsure what to do, Isadora entered and said, "Um, excuse me?"

A flick of the burners, a turn of the faucet, and a small pot was filling with water, a large clump of spices sliding into it as a black-garbed arm stretched across the room, cutting board tilting and sending a small cloud into the air. Garlic and onion already sat in a pan, sautéed and waiting for use. A muscular man was leaning over a counter, furiously chopping all manner of vegetables: carrots, potatoes, celery, the works. As he quickly turned around, he shut off the faucet, dumping the broth-like substance into the pan with the garlic and onions. Turning around again, making a full circle, he grabbed the vegetables, doubling back and putting them into the pan.

But, as he finished dumping the foodstuffs into the pan, he noticed Isadora's entrance, a hint of confusion on her face. Disregarding it for a moment, he grabbed a wooden spoon and began stirring the pot. Can't let it all burn, can he? With the stirring underway, he turned his neck to give the Paladin a kind smile.

"Well, how nice you meet you, miss! I'm making dinner right now. Were the kids, or whatever that ruckus was, too much to bear, sending you into my little kitchen here?" He turned back, pouring the pan's contents into a larger pot of now-boiling water, going back to chopping even more vegetables. He glanced over again, a calm, joking voice coming from his mouth, smile on his face even among the steam and spice clouds. "Or was the smell to hard to resist?"

Despite how polite the Warrior was greeting to her, Isadora was confused by what he said. Kids? Ruckus? Isadora thought. She understood about the ruckus, seeing the marching of the morphs and the disturbing scene with the Madriana morph. But kids?....... There were no kids in the manor except-

Isadora softly groaned while facepalmed. First time meeting with him and already he called her members children. She prayed that the Warrior would not figure out the nickname the members had given her. Due to her concern to the members and accepting new members, they had dubbed her the "Guild mother," along with Father Renault as the "Guild Father." It was bad enough that she had that title. Let's hope that the Heroes would not think of her as a.... 'motherly' type figure.

"It was something in between." She replied about the first question. She decided not to answer the second question, despite how tempting she was to taste his cooking. "We have a bit of a disturbing scene earlier and I've came to get tea to soothe my friend's nerve. Would it be okay?"

After getting the approval from the Warrior, Isadora went to the counter to get the kettle. She filled it up with water. Now she needed the burner to cook it. Seeing both of the front burners were occupied, Isadora decided to move the pot. She placed the kettle on the counter and headed to the burner. But before she could touch the handle of the pot-

SMACK!!!

"Ouch!" Isadora yelped as she pulled her hand and rubbed it. The sting from the wooden spoon still stung on her hand, even with the glove on. Okay...... Isadora thought as she rubbed her hand. So I guess anything he cooks is off limit.

Castello landed gracefully out front of Fefga's, easily dodging a couple of projectiles thrown by trigger-happy morph guards as he descended. They recognized him immediately and returned to their duties without comment while Castello shifted Teifi in his arms, watching her eyes for signs that she was awakening. She didn't look like she'd been knocked out, just... wasn't waking up. Alive, but not waking up.

It worried him. He shouldered into the door and regretted it, then fumbled with the knob while still trying to hold Teifi securely in both arms. After a bit of tricky finger work, he managed to get the door open and, shoulder now aching, carried the injured dancer in. "Jyoti!" he called. "Or... or someone, whoever has a staff! Teifi's hurt, she... she needs help!"

"Ehh?"

Rhys' head turned, his mouth frowning in concern. Look at all those injuries! What the heck happened to her?

It occurred to Rhys at last that he didn't exactly know who these guys were... there was a "Jyoti" and a "Teifi", apparently... being who he was, he HAD read the story of the nine ancient heroes, and admittedly, thus far the names were two for nine, but... no proof. Not yet.

"Ahh... wait a moment," Rhys told Castello, and before anyone could stop him, he ran upstairs, coming back down a few seconds later with the staff he'd dropped earlier. It was still lying at the top of the steps! Removing the dark blue gem of Sleep for the ligher blue of Heal, he concentrated the staff on Teifi's wounds, sealing them up one by one.

Yeah, she might be an enemy, but hey--if "Jyoti" was a healer on their side, he might as well beat her to it. Maybe it'd help a little towards getting these newcomers to sympathize, too.

”You stupid dog, stop running!” Evelyn was clinging for dear life as Triumph raced through the woods in a pace that no horse could match. She knew Castello had… done this to save her sorry a**, but Triumph now refused to stop running and Evelyn would pay for it if this refusal continued. Evelyn was used to the speed and sharp turns Triumph liked to make when she was properly seated on the creature, but not when she was sitting side-saddle.

It was because of the way she was seated that she eventually slipped off, barely avoiding a possible death by falling when she managed to grip enough of Triumph’s fur that she didn’t slip all the way off. It didn’t mean she was out of trouble yet, as she was flopping against the animal as he ran like a lifeless doll; resulting in many cuts and scraps. Evelyn was tiring though and as her strength started to waver her grip slipped and she fell from the Gwyllgi onto the ground. When she fell, she managed to lessen the impact by rolling a few feet away, but that hadn’t stopped her knee from getting a large gash as well as adding to her new collection of scraps and bruises.

As she was about to curse her luck about falling and getting lost Triumph did a speedy u-turn and picked her up so that her belly was against his head. ”Oh for the love of—Carry me normally, you stupid mutt!” Despite the protests Triumph continued to carry her in such a manner until they had arrived once again to FEFGA’s house. Triumph quickly noticed Jyoti still outside and raced over to her, skidding to a stop some five feet away before he unceremoniously dumped his master on the ground in front of Jyoti. ”Add Evelyn to that list too!”

The bird carefully laid the dancer down on a love seat, then sat back on the matching ottoman to let Rhys do his work. "Hmph," he murmured. "She was out in the road, next to this big... crater, sorta thing. And there was a big scaly whatsit, all messed up too. I'm guessing they fought... just have no idea where that crater came from." He closed his eyes, sitting back and staring thoughtfully at the closing wounds.

He knew one thing for certain. He was going to have to go into town and find a tailor.

"Big scaly whatsit...?"

Rhys had a good guess in mind as to who that could be, but didn't mention anything more on that subject.

"It looks to me like she'll be okay," Rhys said, professionally looking the dancer up and down. His eyes locked on the older scar across her abdomen, but paid that no mind either. "I think she's just exhausted. I'd say the big scaly whatsit gave her quite a fight... this must've been a battle between equals."

His hand brushed up against her skin, but Rhys merely turned her a bit to the side to check for gashes on her back. It looked as though she hadn't gotten many there, at least... mostly along the side and front. "Just make sure she and the whatsit don't meet again anytime real soon."

A soft, blue light was all she could see through closed eyes- she did not have the will to really open them until the wounds on her upper arms had started to seal. It was a cool feeling, much like running a block of ice close to the skin- enough to cool, but not enough to actually freeze the surface of her arms. Wounds stitched themselves closed from one end to the other, causing a minor pain when the pieces of raw flesh touched again to mend, but it was nothing compared to what she had felt before.

Though she hissed slightly when the healing continued on, but she allowed herself to sit up after he had finished checking her for wounds- she did not dare move beforehand, lest she spook him into stopping the healing process. A moment later, she felt slightly dizzy from the sudden movement- her hand moved to her head and she barely realized that the rawness from her palms was gone as the redheaded dancer let the wave of vertigo pass.

Daring to open her eyes a moment later, she blinked a few times to adjust to the bright light, watching fuzzy blocks of color gradually swim into focus. An orange-haired man sat before her- and quite the charming young man, she had to admit- and Castello had stood over her. She managed a weak smile to both of them, not really caring that her outfit was shredded (no use crying over spilled milk, she often told the children!), and held out her hand to Rhys in a friendly manner.

"Ah... you're the one who healed me, yes? Thank you." Looking confusedly towards the raven, however, she let her blue eyes wander up to meet his gray ones with a sense of curiosity.

"Castello, dear... where are we?" A slow look around revealed that nothing at all looked familiar- not terribly surprising to her, really- and the company that they kept certainly didn't help. She recognized Amelia, and heard Kyros in the kitchen, but this young man before her and a cry of female surprise and pain from the kitchen were completely unfamiliar to her. Teifi rubbed her temples to try to clear the fog that had descended over her in her forced slumber and tried to rise to her feet.

Her twisted ankle quickly changed that. It was slightly swollen from the fight, but otherwise didn't look nearly as bad as it felt- she was quickly back on the couch again, clutching her ankle and hissing at the pain. She bit her lip, looked for a moment to Rhys, then back to her injured foot.

"I don't wish to trouble you again, but could you perhaps...?"

After the battle, a large sum of morphs still remained. The enemy used their wits and mobility to evacuate, faster than the morphs could catch them. Shento arrived at the tail end of the battle, seeing a dragon, and fired upon it, and although it escaped, he still hit and hurt it. Now he and the morphs returned back to the master for fresh commands. Well, the morphs did at least. Shento returned for a different person; one he had told to wait for him. The only one.. whom he loved.

Upon return to the manor area, things were peaceful once again. All captives were inside, all steeds in the stable area were at ease, all was well. Wait, no, there was one woman and some morph guards. Shento got closer to see what was going on. Another captive perhaps? But as he got closer, he could see who it was. His love stood there, being taken captive by a pair of these abominations! And she had arrows in her back!! Shento was hardly a reckless person. He thought his actions through, and performed based upon what the situation called on. But when there was a threat to take something away from him, that he cared about... he lost it.

"ALDRO SHEEGASHTE!!" He leaped forward and punched a morph straight in the face, who was subduing Melethia. He then spun around and kicked the another one into the wall of the manor. He then turned back around to see if there was any other morph who dared to lay a hand on the woman. "Agaba! Shateh ore do mokovoba!!" He made quite a significant amount of noise, for one who preferred to act silently in the shadows. He was sure to have been heard by someone.

The vegetables were chopped, placed in a neat pile as the Paladin made her way into the room, asking about making some tea for a friend. Kyros let out an affirmative nod, not wanting any fluids to contaminate the food. He'd turned back to the stovetop, pouring the last of the vegetables into the large pot as a hand began to drift towards dinner.

Instinctively, Kyros took the spoon, slamming it onto the woman's hand, then placing it right back into the large pot with all the food and resuming the stirring. He gave her a slight smile before moving the empty pan that originally contained the garlic and onions, placing it lightly in the empty sink.

"You need to ask before you touch the food..." He stroked his chin, left hand still stirring the vegetables in the large pot as his right placed the tea kettle in the sink under the faucet. "You were reaching for the wrong one, miss... I never caught your name." He turned off the burner that he was using, and filled the kettle with some water, placing it on the spare burner and gesturing towards it while looking at Isadora. "Dinner should be done soon, so if you could soon head out to the rest of the kids and give them the message, that'd be fantastic."

Melethia sighed. She was glad those morphs were off of her. She smiled a bit. She was glad it was the one who thought she was his love. She tried to get the arrows out of her back but she couldn't reach them.

"I hate getting hit in the back." She told herself. "This hurts and I can't get the arrows out."
