I was 13 in my grama's house. I went to the bathroom and saw brown stuff. I didn't think anything of it until later when there was even more! I showed my mom and she told me what it was. My grama knew before she was even told. 3nodding They had warned me for a while but never told me what it was or anything. When they explained how it worked, they didn't explain it well. xd I thought you only get your period for 5 days the first time and then one day every time after that! Hehe. Good times. MoonJeli I don't use tampons. I don't think they're healthy. I use an alternative, a MoonCup (other brands include the DivaCup, Keeper, and Lady Cup). Menstrual cups for the win. 3nodding

I got mine a week before my 13th birthday! The only thing that sucked rly was i had it for 2weeks! Either that period or the one after was the worst i had the worst back pain and cramps my mom gave me I bprofen 800mg That was good and it helped!

Haha, all of us getting our periods at 13.
I was 13 at a hotel at Disneyland. The only adults were my dad and uncle, haha. Thankfully my sister was there, because my dad tried to get me these huge pads that could dry up a river.

Sadly I got mine when I was 8 crying but it was okay cause luckily it was a day after we saw the woman video in class about all this stuff.
I went home after school and I had to go to the bathroom. I did, and there were drops of blood on the seat. So I calmly called my mom and I said "Hey, I'm not sure what's going on but I think I started my period, there is blood on the seat but none in my underwear". My mom started freaking (at work) and started to tell me to calm down, I told her I was fine and I needed to know what to do, she told me to grab some panty liners and but them on.
Then we didnt even talk about she had just bought me 2 packs of pads, one light and the other heavy so we can see what type I was. The first day wasn't bad at all but the second day, I asked my mom would this go on forever (I really thought I was doomed to this forever lol) she told me know it should be a about 6 days,.......then it lasted a week. after that I was regular for 4 months and I have been irregualr since.

had mine when i was 12. 6th Grade there I saw some blood in meh panties then after 2 days.. I told my mom. So here Im goign to highschool and I hate it.

wow i got mine really late!
i got mine when i was 15, a freshman in high school.
i went to the bathroom and there was brown in my underwear (not thinking it was my period). i go to my room and change and yell to my mother and she comes sprinting up the stairs and i yell, "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT!?!" and she laughs and said its ur period!

I got mine when i was 10, i literally thought i was dieing the first time it happend. It hurt sooo much! When my mom found out she started crying and saying "oh my baby is growing up!"...i was really uncomfy for a long time...but now im used to it =]

May 2...I was 13 and at the movie theater waiting for The Scorpion King. I felt like I was leaking out stuff so I told my mom. She handed me a pad on the dl and I went to the bathroom. She knew what was happening already and we talked about it so I wasn't too panicked about the whole thing. I was pretty proud of myself though lol.
My mom calls it the curse. lol heart

I was actually at a friends' birthday party / get together and I started bleeding. I had a slight freak out then I went: "Oh, I'm on my period." And continued on with the day. I had to ask his sister for a pad which was pretty embarrassing since it was my first time, lawl. Probably about 14.

When I was 12 I had just gotten home from school, I went to the bathroom, and there was brown sticky stuff on my underwear. I freak, thinking I have some kind of nasty infection, so I call my mom, and she told me that it was just my period. Funny thing is, I didn't get a second period until a year after. It's been really irregular since then, up until I started taking birth control and that balanced it out a bit.

I got mine in sixth grade when I was eleven or twelve. I can't remember the exact age. Anyways, I really wasn't worried when I got it. My twin sister had gotten hers a year before me, so I knew what to do. Plus, my mom always kept pads in the house for her period, so I just grabbed one.
-shrugs-
My sister freaked out when she got hers though. rofl She thought she was dying.

I got mine a week before I turned 15 (1st May 2007). Yeah, it was a little late. I'm 17 now. I have no idea how I told my mum. Although I already had pads in my drawer just in case so I would have just used one of them.
The first time I had to use a tampon was when I had my birthday party at a water park, although luckily that wasn't until a year after. But my little sister freaked out because I took too long in the toilet while trying to figure out what to do with it. XD
My periods have always been irregular (my last one started 8 weeks ago). For a while I was having them every two weeks and that was when I decided that I hate pads. They make me itchy. >.< So I usually use a tampon for the second day of my period, it works well that way.
To anyone who says they never use pads... what about at night while you're sleeping? you're not meant to leave tampons in for that long.
