Ima kara, watashi wa ninensei desu. Kowai desu ne.. From now, I am a second-year student. Scary isn't it?
Rokugatsu kara ima made nihongo wo amari benkyou shiteimasen deshita. gonk From June 'til now, I hadn't studied Japanese very much
Somehow, though I love Japanese to death, there were always other things getting in the way of sitting down and studying. Working full-time means "summer break" is only a phrase that refers to no class, not tons of free time. crying But every now and then I caught a scrap of studying... I hope it's enough sweatdrop I've reviewed a lot more in the last couple days that I had all summer... Lots of re-remembering kanji readings.

I hope it's enough sweatdrop I've reviewed a lot more in the last couple days that I had all summer... Lots of re-remembering kanji readings. Yeah, I've had semesters where I feel like I have no time to devote to Japanese, and I figured out early that when my teachers say "you need to study 2 hours a day" they didn't say it to scare me or because they required me, it was because it's just how much I have to study to keep up and to maintain my skills. But anything helps, even if it's just writing kanji you just learned on a napkin or saying something to yourself while you drive/bike/whatever. Those "scraps" of studying will add up.

From The New York Times
White Storks Fly in Japan By AGENCE FRANCE-PRESSE
TOKYO, Sept. 24 (Agence France-Presse) - Five white storks flew into open skies from a park in Hyogo Province in western Japan on Saturday as part of an effort to return the endangered species to the wild.
Prince Akishino and his wife, Kiko, cut a red-and-white ribbon to open a box and release the first of the five storks. Thousands of spectators cheered as the white birds with black-edged wings flew away. It was the first time that artificially bred Oriental white storks had been released, a park official said. Japan's last wild stork died in protective captivity in 1971.
I thought it was intresting.

keeping the whateverness going . . .
I'm a comic book dork, and I just learned my comic store is closing. I'm not too torn up about it; the store owner was making me incresingly uncomfortable with his "get rich quick" schemes so I was already not going as much and not buying as much. But it's too bad, I've been a faithful comic dork for nearly 6 years, and now with the nearest comic store nearly 40 miles I don't seem myself buying any future single issue, but I still have Barnes and Noble for trades as well as the internet. Oh well, the end of an era. biggrin

figured this was the best place to put this: Quote: You Are a Henna Gaijin! You're not Japanese, but you wish you were! You can use chopsticks with your eyes closed, and you've memorized hundreds of Kanji. You even answer your phone "moshi moshi." While the number of anime videos you've seen is way higher than the number of dates you've been on, there's hope. Play the sexy, mysterous gaijin, and you'll have plenty of Japanese meat. What's your Japanese Subculture I dunno about saying "moshi moshi" or the chopsticks part, but the "you've watch more anime videos than been on dates" bit is definitely true (and I don't even particularly like anime, Freaki's lovelife is very very non-existant)
