User Image Kia's breathing was back to normal, but was still deep. When she picked him up, he tried to stand. He failed, and just rested his head on what he suspected was her shoulder. "What.." He weakly said, exhausted from the ordeal. His face was still flush from the effort of breathing. He was also covered in blood again. This time it was Kalia's and not his own.

The red shirt might be able to be saved, unlike his white one he came here with. The pants where thankfully spared however. Maybe a dot or two got on it, but nothing major. However, his pants started to fall down, but Kia was in no mood to care, nor could he pull them back up. They only revealed the tops of his boxers, but if he was feeling better, it would have been more than enough to embarrass him.

Kia felt so bad depending upon this stranger this much. She must hate him by now. He had hurt her, and now was infringing on her hospitality. He wondered if she suspected that he would have been this hard to care for when she first helped him. In a half daze, Kia tried to open his eyes again. The world wasn't spinning, and he could see the stairs passing by, He tried to see what was in her hand, but couldn't roll his head enough. He instead was staring at her face. Her eyes, when view this close, were rather captivating. He could lose himself in them, if they didn't have that hard edge to them. Her wet hair smelled of her shampoo, and small bits fell out of her towel wrap. Now he really wished he had taken a shower, for all the dirt he still had on him was getting on her. His arms were covered, as well as his feet. He was sure he had dirt on his back too, but couldn't tell. Why couldn't he get better? What was wrong with him?

User ImageKalia set him up in her room again putting a new IV into his arm since the other one seemed to have come out she hooked him up to another bag of blood and pulled a chair over beside the bed feeling just a little light headed, she had lost a bit more blood then she was used to in the last few days. She slid her fingers through her hair dislodging the towel and sighed; she checked his pulse again to make sure it was steady and leaned forward to rest her head on her folded arms on the bed.

User Image Kai didn't even do anything. he just laid on the bed, still catching his breath. He noticed that she had her head on the bed. He felt so bad having her go through all of this. He gently placed his hand on her head, to try and comfort her, but instead it ended up becoming like a weight on her head. He couldn't really move very well again.

Looking at her, which was about the most he could move at the moment, he noticed her wrist was covered up, with a red towel. Then it dawned on him, she had fed him her own blood, by cutting her wrist. He was starting to cry now. He really was placing her through too much. She deserved better than him. Looking up, he noticed the blood bag again. He despised seeing those. It was what kept him alive, and yet he hated being attached to them. He always felt chained down with them around.

Kia rested, his head sinking into the pillow. He wished to at least be sitting up, as he didn't want to fall asleep. He was feeling weak, but not tired. He was exhausted, but not sleepy. He quietly started to hum. A tone that he didn't even know where it came from. It sounded like something a mother would hum to a child. Was it a song his mother hummed to him? Did he even have a mother? Was she still alive? Was she also a vampire?

User ImageKalia sat up slowly when she heard the humming and looked at him her eyes a little tired before she noticed he was trying to sit up and she grabbed some pillows and a blanket to help prop him up, "Better?" she asked.

User Image Kia smiled, even with his eyes closed. "Thanks, I am feeling better." He opened his eyes, and looked at Kalia in her eyes, "I'm sorry for all I have placed you though. I truly am." He then looked down. He hated this. He was depending upon her for everything. He was depending on her to keep him alive, not to mention protect him. He was asking for more than he was giving back. He felt like he needed to return all the favors. He was in her dept, not only for saving his life, several times, but for keeping him alive, when anyone else would have left him on his own, lost and confused.

User Image"Anything I've done is of my own violation... so just get better..." she said changing the blood bag as it finished and setting up a fresh one, "Don't do stupid things like this and get yourself hurt!" she said finally, "You nearly gave me heart failure..." she said unwinding the rag from her wrist and tossing it in the laundry hamper, "Don't push yourself so far that you end up hurting yourself... I will not be pleased..."

User Image Kia nodded. "I didn't think I was this bad off." He really didn't. He knew he felt tired, but he didn't think he was in this bad of shape. Usually he bounced back from things, till he had an anemia attack.

"I had a question. Do you think you could ask this council if they know anything about me? Anything at all would be helpful. They seem like good people. Seems like they would know." Kia was speaking softly. He was asking another favor. How many more will he ask before he does something to help her? Frustration welled up inside him. "I'm sorry for what I've put you through. I'll repay this dept to you. I promise you that." He turned his head to look at her. She didn't deserve him. She probably hated him now. He was such a fool. An arrogant fool who wanted to prove something to her.

He realized he had gone through one bag already, which usually took ten minutes. He still felt weak, even if his color seemed good. The desire to drink wasn't there, and his fangs seemed to have gone again. He wondered what was up with that? His fangs came and went, almost at random. It was strange.

User ImageKalia planted a hand on her hip and turned on him, beginning to get annoyed, "Stop that! You have not forced any of my actions to this point, so don't even pretend you could! This is my job, my life, and my duty." she sighed sitting back down beside him, "Stop questioning my choices..."

She hesitated, "I'm not sure I want to bring this up with the Council until we are more sure what you are..." she said quietly, "I am not sure of the protocol for this kind of thing... I need to check my predecessor's notes and see if I can find anything..."

User Image Kia was shocked with her outburst. She was right, he didn't force her to do anything. but he couldn't help but feel guilty all the same. "There must be more to your life than just your job." Kia said quietly, mostly to himself. "Then again, you at least have one." He was referring to a life and a job. He had neither. He just drifted through his life with no goal, no past, no nothing. All he had was his family. A family that didn't even know the real him. A family that he would probably place in risk just by being around.

Looking up at Kalia, Kia asked a question that was dear to him, "Do you think I will ever see Yojan again? Or mom?" They might not be his real family, but they where all he had. "I think you really should look in those notes. Your duty should come first, and finding that out.. I think that would be best." Kia rested his back on the pillows, sinking into their fluffy bodies. He looked at the ceiling, and couldn't help but noticed the blood bag again. There it was, hanging. Chaining him to the bed. Keeping him alive, yet imprisoned. He was a prisoner of this bed.

User ImageKalia's smile was empty, "My Duty is my Life... I swore to protect no matter the cost..." she said, "It was a part of my oath as an enforcer..." she sighed again, "You will see them again we just have to figure this out..." she said after moment's hesitation. She saw him glance at the blood bag and could almost see the chains it seemed to weave around him, "If you would just drink out of the bags you wouldn't have to hooked up to that thing..." she said quietly.

User Image Kia looked at her as he said, "I would rather this than drinking from you. I don't like the feeling of drinking the blood. It just..." He couldn't say it. He had done it, twice now. Why was it such a big deal? Just grab the bag and dig in? It would be faster. The though turned his stomach into a knot again. There was just something that he could almost remember as to why he didn't want to drink the blood. It was at the edge of his memory.

"Lets just say something tells me not to, as well as tells me to. I don't know, but I wont do it." He closed his eyes again. The ceiling was making him dizzy, just because it didn't move. "You should go look at your regulations for this. The sooner you do, the sooner we know what we can do next." Kia wasn't one to sit still, even when he was forced to. He still wanted to move. What he really wanted, was a shower.

User ImageKalia nodded, "I'll go check it out... call if you need anything..." she said and left the room almost regretfully. She felt bad leaving him alone when he obviously was regretting her choices for her.

User Image Kia watched as Kalia left. He waited for some time, watching as the blood bag slowly drained into him. It always seemed to take forever, and it usually did. He still remembered how he woke up, his head covered in bandages. He could only see through one eye at the time, as the other was badly damaged. His entire right side of his head was crushed, according to the doctors. He could only use his right side of his body, and see through his left eye.

He would watch, as the nurses looked at him with pity, and change the bag. He could do nothing back then, but watch. He couldn't speak, as his mouth didn't want to move. He could point for things he wanted, or ring the buzzer to get the nurse in there. She was rather cute, now that Kia thinks of it. Might have been why he called her in so often. All he could do was watch the blood bag.

After a long time, a matter of a few weeks, but seemed like forever for Kia, he was able to move his arm. His eye still didn't see anything, but he no longer had bandages around his head. They were all amazed. Never had they seen anyone recover from such an injury. It was said that he was mugged in the park, found by a park runner at the time. He was laying on a bench, his head seemed to have been beaten in by the metal pole.

Kia drifted out of his thoughts. He didn't wish to see them again, but the blood bag always reminded him of those times. Figuring that some time must have past, he started to try and move. He was feeling fine, but there seemed no way to tell how long that would last. Seeing that his blood bag was still half full, Kia decided it was time for a shower. He was able to move again, with out difficulty. He just grabbed the stand and walked to where he was told the bathroom was.

Dragging the stand, Kia managed to get to the bathroom, and saw there was indeed a shower. He had never showered at someone else's place before, but he really needed one. He was sticky from sweat the night before, and covered in dirt. He found and pulled some towels out of the closet. Then he closed and locked the door.

Being careful, Kia removed his bloodied shirt. It was rather difficult, and Kia almost had to remove the IV tube for him to do it, but he managed to. Then carefully, so as not to pull out the IV, Kia finished getting undressed. Sitting on the edge of the tube, he turned on the water, half hot and half cold. He didn't want to scald himself, even if it would heal quickly. He also didn't want to boil the blood in the bag. Carefully, Kia eased into the shower, letting the hot water run over him. If anyone walked in, it might have seemed a little comical, as the blood bag was hanging on the rack, which was outside the shower curtain. All that showed someone was inside the shower, besides the noise, was a small tube tucked between curtains.

User ImageKalia sat in a wing-backed chair in he library an Enforcer's Journal in her lap as she read when she heard the water go on. She went back to reading and made note to go check on him later.

User Image Kia started by laying down in the tub. He didn't feel like moving yet, and washing will be tricky with the IV attached to him. His eternal chain. He let the water soak most of the dirt off, taken several minutes to do. Grabbing a bar of soap, he gently scrubbed himself, starting with the easiest places, like his legs and chest. He saved his arms for last, as he had to be careful not to pull the IV out.

He then rinsed the dirty soap off himself. Letting the water cascade over his face and head, he went back to his thoughts from before. How he was found. When the ambulance arrived, they all had thought he was dead already. When they found him, he was still alive, if barely. Rushing him to the hospital, they had reported pumping him full of blood, all the units they had in the ambulance at the time. Needless to say, he should have been dead by any human standards.

When they arrived, they went to work on his head. Needless to say, they where about to give up, till his moved his right arm. He never actually awoke, but it was enough movement that they never gave up on him. Even then, they didn't give him much for a chance to improve.

As he continued to think, he scrubbed his hair, where he had the bandages, he felt again. It use to be caved in, his actual skull. The bone seemed to have healed nicely. Looking at him now, you wouldn't know he was half dead four years ago. As he looked into his reflection, he realized he looked exactly like he did back then, just without the bandages, scars or scabs.

He liked to run. Sense he could first start, running was his freedom. Once he could move his legs, he was walking. It was his small freedom from the chains of the bag. It was his freedom from the bed. From staring at the ceiling.

Placing his eye closer to the chrome metal of the faucet, he looked into his right eye. It was exactly like his left, as though no damage was done to it. He closed his left eye, and could see fine. He remembered when he first got his sight back in that eye. He had to wear glasses back then. His sight was unreliable, and blurry without the glasses. Now he didn't need that. He was a medical miracle. He was starting to understand why. As long as they gave him blood, he healed.

Then it downed on him. He didn't look any older! He checked again. He still looked like he was nineteen. Even though he was twenty three years of age, he still looked like he was younger. How old was he? He had to ask Kalia what she thought!

Jumping out of the shower, water still on, he tripped, landing on the floor with a smack. He got up, uninjured, and grabbed the towel. He quickly threw it over his waist, as he grabbed his blood bag rack and walked to the door of the bathroom.
