"Oh?" Jade purred with amusement as she looked back over to the cattaur, "I've known Alek far longer than you. That is true, but what does it matter?" Her tail brushed the floor as it curled around her front paws. "I have plenty of coincidences that happen in my life, for I am driven by a magical instinct." Her ear flicked as she looked at Ashierra with a small smile, "It was the same for Alek. I wonder if it still is?"
Sincerity flashed in the depths of her eyes before she softly added, "I'm glad that I was able to find you two in time. If I hadn't helped..." Jade shook her head and turned to look back out of the window, "This is a really nice village, nya."
"Oh?" Alek looked to the mountains and shuddered, "It's rather cold living up there isn't it?" His gaze returned to the cattaur and he studied her, "Isn't it lonely as well?" He shrugged, "But I won't question your tastes."

Ashierra studied Jade closely. She didn't seem to be pulling her tail. "Magical instinct." She repeated to herself. She blinked when Jade brought up the village. "I don't know. This is my first time here." She got up and walked to sit next to Jade to see out the window.
"You mean you're... connected? To Alek in some way?" Why couldn't she let this go?
Tuula's smile saddened as Alek spoke, eyes dreamily turning to the mountian tops, gaze in a past long gone. "It wasn't always lonely." She said softly, deep sadness apparent in those few words.
Then she smirked and turned back, eyes light again. "It's not you're place to do so either." She said, tail flicking in amusement.
"So, I saw you come from the pass with the two pretty ladies. What could have had you three occupied up there." Her eyes narrowed ever so slightly as she studied him. "I'm pretty sure I heard a scream too..."

"Well, then I promise you that you'll like it." Jade's voice held a faint trace of amusement, "A much better experience than nearly falling from a mountain." Her tail twitched but Jade didn't look back over at Ashierra when she replied. "Oh yes. I'm connected with Alek. Why do you ask?"
Alek nearly paused at the sudden sad feeling he felt in Tuula's smile. But he shook his head, surely he was just imagining it."Nothing really." Replied Alek softly as he looked back to the female, "Just a near death experience by falling, is all. And I happened to know the white and green cattaur who helped us."

Ashierra gazed out the window. It wasn't a very big village, except maybe compared to others in this area. She didn't look at Jade either. "Just... curious. I am a cattaur after all." She said with a chuckle, though a pink blush warmed her cheeks, standing out on her pale skin.
Tuula cocked an eyebrow. "Near death? Enough to make the bravest scream." She said with a nod. "So, the greeny wasn't with you before?" Her eyes narrowed slightly, a bit territorial about her mountain home. "You and Red just passing through?"

A meow of amused laughter left Jade's lips, "What an interesting reason you give." Leaning her elbows on the windowsill, Jade looked over to Ashierra. "So how long have you been traveling with Alek?"
After a stunned moment, Alek found himself laughing. "Oh, yes-yes! Don't worry, we're just travelers." His tail twitched, "I can't tell you exactly what Jade is thinking though, but she's a traveler at heart as well. It won't be long until she's off somewhere else."

Ashierra lowered her eyes, trying to remain carefully blank. Her travelling gaze caught Alek nearby, chatting with someone else, and she determinedly looked to the other end of the village.
"Not very long." She frowned a little before shrugging. "We've seen each other around on the other side of the mountain, and both felt it was time to move on. Being travelers and all... Decided to combine forces for the time being. To find out what was over here."
Tuula cocked her head to the side. "All travelers meet in one rare spot. Interesting." Her ears twitched as she glanced at the building the two females were in. "So what of you and Red? The way you talk, you're traveling together." She asked with innocent curiosity. "On a honeymoon or sumthin'?"

"Ah." Jade pushed free from the window and walked back towards one of the mattresses where a bag of supplies rested. "So you barely know him, then?" She rummaged through the pack and finding what she wanted, Jade held up an apple towards Ashierra questioningly before taking a bite from the second one.
"Really, you think it's interesting?" Alek smiled, "I guess it is." But suddenly his stomach lurched, "Wait, what?" Nearly blushing Alek shook his head rapidly, "No! I mean-" He paused and sighed, "I have no romantic standings with Ashierra. She's not into me or so it seems." He chuckled embarressed, "Not like we need to be lovers or anything to travel, right?"

Finally looking over, Ashierra smiled and accepted the apple. "Thank you." She turned it in her hands a few times before taking a bit. "I wouldn't say barely, but it's not like we're best friends or anything." If she didn't have control over herself at that time, disappointment would have laced her observation. Instead, it was only obvious in her mind, where only she saw it and could shove it aside.
Tuula watched Alek a moment before laughing loudly. "Oh, you make me laugh! And it's been a while for that occurence." Her eyes twinkled as she played with the dirt again. "No, you don't need to be romantic to travel." She looked up and winked playfully. "But it certainly makes the trip more fun, don't it."
She looked at the room again. "Then you headed off without her? Looks like you're already wantin to get off. Normally after a scare, you'd wanna nap."

"Ah, decent acquaintances then." Jade smiled before taking one last bite from her apple. The remaining apple core was tossed into the air, where it disappeared with a gust of magic. Suddenly, she looked to Ashierra with an amused laugh. " I've been talking to you, yet I still don't know your name."
"I don't know, does it?" Alek was already feeling amused from her amusement of his reaction. But his tail was twitching with uncertainty, just because he was traveling with Ashierra that didn't mean that they were lovers? Was that how others saw things though? Was it improper for two unrelated cattaurs like them to be traveling like this? Why did he care about how others saw things?
"No, I'm letting her do the napping." Replied Alek with a soft chuckle as he looked back towards the building. His eyes grew silent and quite serious as he added, "I'm already used to 'scares' by now so they never truly upset me."

Ashierra nodded. That sounded close enough. She watched the apple core vanish and smiled. "My name is Ashierra. I think it means 'plains of fire,' according to my mother." She flicked her tail pleasantly, having always liked her name.
Without warning, a mental rock hit her with enough force to loose her breath, not even her training able to prevent the effect. At the gap! She'd been practicing her earth magic! Why hadn't she used it?! She groaned and dropped her head. Alek -I mean- She could have died from her stupidity... Panic had made her forget her new ability. Stupid!
Tuula's smile softened. "Yes. Indeed it does make trips more fun... But, even though she's not your lover girl, the trip can still be entertaining. Maybe even more so." She giggled at her own coy joke. She had been secluded for a long time... She needed to get down here more often it seemed.
"Ohh." Her head cocked to the side. "A thrill seeker are we? Might that explain the thrill seeking by that the screams back in the pass? Is Red a thrill seeker too?"

"Ah, nice." Jade smiled, "It matches you quite well." Her head tilted in confusion though as Ashierra's mood suddenly changed. "Ashierra?" She finally asked after a silent moment, "What is it?"
"Maybe." Replied Alek with a laugh before blinking at Tuula. "Oh no. I'm not that much of a thrill seeke- Well I used to I guess in a way, but no I don't think Red is." Alek's hand ran through his hair as he laughed sheepishly, "We just nearly fell is all. It was an accident, she leaped but lost her balance after landing on the other side of this gap."

Face buried in her hands, Ashierra could hardly speak. She could have killed them...
"I-" She looked up at Jade with eyes of fury, pain and horror. "I could have killed us... I've, been practicing. Earth. I could have used it... at the, the, gap. I forgot." Why did she just tell this stranger what she'd done?!
Silently, she wrapped her arms around herself and bent over, nose nearly touching her front paws curled up before her.
Tuula giggled. "No 'maybe' about that Orangey."
When he mentioned the gap, her eyes darkened. "Those bastards." She growled. "I warned them about taking out the bridge I made..."

"Hey." Jade's voice was soft as the warm breeze that wrapped around the two cattaurs. "Ashierra..." Jade moved over and sat next to her with a small frown. Her arm wrapped around the other cattaur in a hug and Jade allowed silence to drip around them for several moments before she spoke. "You forget that neither of you two died. It all worked out in the end, Ashierra."
Alek's tail whipped against the ground, "You know who took out the- your bridge?" He hissed softly, his claws digging into the dirt. His old instinct of revenge flared up from deep within as their near demise flashed through his memory.

"Only because of you." She whispered in a tight voice. "If you hadn't been there..." This was another part of her training. Doing anything wrong was life or death in battle. She learned from mistakes, but not without making herself suffer them first. Not even Jade's soothing voice would be able to break through that quickly.
Tuula stood up quickly, nodding furiously. "I've seen them. Don't know where they are exactly. Only was able to catch one so far. Gave him a large piece of my mind to choke on." Her eyes glared furiously at the pass above them, cracking her fingers. "Looks like they like learning the hard way..."

"Oiy!" Jade growled softly and lightly smacked the top of Ashierra, "Don't be so pitiful. It didn't happen that way, alright? Plus, you might have remembered in time if I hadn't come or at least your subconscious magic probably would when faced with the danger of death. And I did come, okay?" Jade's eyes filled with flickering emotions as she shook her head at Ashierra, "What ifs are never good reasons to beat yourself up because they never happened. Jeez."
Sparks flew from Alek's fur as he gazed at the pass as well. "They will be." He muttered darkly before looking back to Tuula, "It seems we might team up for a bit, if you're willing." He looked back towards the village with a small smirk while thinking of all the things possible, "I'm thinking that we can come up with a nice plan for them."
