Take the letters ERGRO. Put three letters in front of this combination, and the same three letters behind it to form a common English word

Kind of an easy one:
I dig out tiny caves, and store gold and silver in them. I also build bridges of silver and make crowns of gold. They are the smallest you could imagine. Sooner or later everybody needs my help, yet many people are afraid to let me help them. Who am I?

ok this is the hardest one i know... if a sundial is the clock with the least amount of parts which clock is the clock with the most amount of parts? this got me caught for like 20 mins
