Na'fiel followed silently behind the others. Her mind was on other things. That was easy...too easy. Why would a group of four 'well-trained' shadow hunters be taken down so easily? It was improbable, if not impossible. Was the entire place so weak?

"Too easy," she muttered, softly. It was too good to be true and you know what they said about things that seemed too good to be true.

They usually were.

She sprinted down the hall, following the footsteps of the other three. The sooner they got to the 20th floor and destroyed that...Franz or whoever he was, the sooner they could get out of here.

The Mermaid had a strange suspicion that there was more to this place than met the eye. Something nagged at her... Something just wasn't quite right. The place was too easy to infiltrate and much too lightly guarded. Too easy...

((Bah! Craptastic shortness...))

Z'Kort sent a charming smile to his "cousin" and dashed off, feet making a light pat pat each time they hit the tiled floor. He didn't notice how easy the fight had been but was surprised at the supposed skill of his comrades. At the rate they were going, he wouldn't have to be wounded at all. Snazzy, he mused, smiling to himself.

His swift movements led him quickly around the next corner and right before the stairs. Shocked, he didn't stop in time and fell over them, landing finally in a casual lounging position against the first three steps.

"I found the stairs!" Kort called, pretending he had just sat down.

((AH HAH HAH!!!..........I suck.))

Just as Z'Kort yelled out he had found the stairs the smoke conveinently reached the sprinklers. The shower was sent off and soaked the area. People screamed and Hybrid spoke into the phone. "We'll meet again Azriel...because I'm sure you want to find the Shadow like everyone else." He abruptly hung up the phone and turned moving through the people. They graciously moved out of his way. His steps leading him toward the end of the room. He had to find it, that blasted lab. He was on the 10th floor at the moment. People would be hurrying down the stairs, but luckily not the back stairs that his accomplices were on...

The police watched as the woman sitting at the desk spoke into the phone and then walked in just as the sprinklers went off. "What the hell? Jack, get back-up down here, someone set off a fire alarm!" He spoke into his radio with this last part and then looked at the woman. "Are you alright ma'am? We should get you out of here quickly." The police man speaking walked toward her, the other standing back looking around.

Water spritzing sounded above the elf and he looked up, curious. A second later, the sprinklers went off and Z'Kort's day was made. At least what was left of the sludge from the vents was entirely gone by this point, the anti-fire system would make sure of that. And why the hell is it raining on us? Not like we were burnin' anything, he thought glumy, glancing through the wet strands of his hair to his comrades.

"So, nice weather we're having," the man muttered, getting up in one fluid movement. "Better to start soon, anyone bring an umbrella?" He didn't wait for an answer, though, and tromped up the stairs, clearly in a foul mood. Kort didn't like water, he disliked getting wet unless it was naked...in a shower. This included swimming, although he was devilishly hot in swimming trunk and with his hair slicked back from a nice dip in a pool, he hated being wet in general.

The speedster dashed up the stairs, heading towards the second floor and making sure to step cautiously on the wet steps. What was the material? It was shiny, at least.

Running through behind he elf, she came into the stairs just as the sprinklers came on. Cursing, she looked suspiciously at Kort and asked.

"Okay, what happened now?" Hands on waist, she wasn't sure what was going on at all, and why it was raining inside a building. Looking back at the others, she motioned for them to hurry up.

"Come on! We don't want to have those gun-men at us again!" Then running up the stairs after Kort, sounds of semi-panicked cries and screeches reached her ears, as well as the inevitable thuds of people running about. Not down the stairs thankfully... but the drow did not know how long that security would last.

Alarms in Na'fiel's mind went off. The first drops of water started falling, she groaned. Perfect. Just perfect. Of course, at this crucial time, the stupid sprinklers would go off. Goody...

Instantly, her transformations began. Two legs transformed into two long tails with fins on the end. Scales replaced skin and her long hair shone with a even brighter blue.

"Oh great," she muttered, landing with a thump on the floor, "I figured that this would happen at some point..." Sighing heavily, she looked around. Well, the only one left was Arkus.

"Mind giving me a ride?" she asked, wondering if he might just leave her there. If he did, she could probably defend herself well enough for the other three to get away, but not for long. She couldn't really walk, though her twin tails packed quite a kick.

"It just had to happen now," she thought angrily, cursing at whatever gods were listening.

Arkus snorted as he watched the others go, then watch the mermaid transform. He blinked a few times, and then noticed that he was probably the only one that could carry her.

"Alright, I got you." Arkus said as he hoisted her up. He slung her over his shoulder, with her upper body pointing behind him and her legs draped down on his chest, his arm holding her that way, much like a person carries a screaming and kicking child. Most likely, this wasn't very comfortable.

"Let's go!" Arkus said, reaching the stairs and turning to Kort. "You're the scout. Move!"

Z'Kort turned for a second and saluted the shouting minotaur, then continued his ascent. His black hair laid wet against his shoulders, the water soaking through everything he had on. Although he did look awesomely sexy having all that black fabric clinging to his chiselled body, Kort still disliked the whole event. A sharp turn took him to the next level, as green eyes scanned the area to make sure no one was coming down.

Hopefully, it'll stay like this, he thought, frowning slightly at the lack of guards. His boots clung valiantly to the stairs, neither slipping nor sliding. The elf thanked anyone who was listening that he chose to wear the clunky things in the first place.

Another level, and another, they were melting away under the speed demon's quick steps and movements. Behind him, he could hear his comrades laboring up and in front of him, a sweet silence. Kort smiled, just a little more, they were almost there. A quick side glance showed him that they were already on the fifteenth floor.

Similarly soaked, Zaniah followed the elf with a light spring in her step. This was truely becoming interesting.. and the drow actually looked forward to the next fight she would have in here.

But the shadow hunter was finally coming to the realisation that their path had been remarkably clear so far (except for their previous encounter). Her own short white hair, a shocking contrast to that of her cousin's long black, her ebony eyes glittered with anticipation as she unsheathed her sword at the accent of the fifteenth floor. Shan'naal shimmered as the man-made rain pattered upon it from above, the blade's red tint flashing momentarily at it's mistresses emotions.

Very much unlike Kort, Zani could care less if her damp clothes clung to her, knowing that she could change once this was all finished, it would not hinder her either way. Giving a glance behind her, she noticed Arkus carrying the mermaid, who truely looked the part now, with her fins flapping idly with the minotaurs steps.

"Don't suppose I could have a ride too, hm?" The ebon woman called to the horned person teasingly.

Arkus moved behind Zaniah, holding the mermaid over his shoulders like one carries a screaming, flailing child who wants a toy from the mall. He grinned. "If you want a ride, you'd have to be on top of Na'fiel. I need a free arm." He said with a chuckle and a snort. "And I'm sure Na'fiel wouldn't appreciate that." He laughed as he ran.

The minotaur did not mind the water, his clothes did not mind it either. His tank top was already tight and up against his skin, and his pants, though somewhat baggy, were doing nothing to really slow him down anyways. His hooves clicked against the floor as they ran, splashing in puddles of accumulating sprinkler water.

He, as well, thought it had been all too easy as he started up the stairs, but then again he had gone in the hard way because of his immense size. He hadn't been able to squeeze through the ventilation shaft like the others, but then again, the minotaur liked going in the hard way. After all, it was fun to slam into people and toss them aside... At least on his side of the deal.

Na'fiel was not really enjoying the ride. Though it saved her some walking, the minotaur's shoulder was not the comfiest place to be, especially while going up stairs. The water, though, felt nice. She was a creature of water so it didn't bother her in the least. Rather, it did feel quite nice.

"Trust me, it's not as nice as it seems," she answered dryly, contrast to the sprinklers. Ugh, she couldn't wait to get down and dry. Her clothes were still on, but her shoes and sock had been cast off in the other hallway. They didn't really fit on her flippers and would've caused her some great deal of pain.

It seemed oddly empty and they weren't exactly silent. Looking over, she saw the sign that indicated the 15th floor. Good, they were almost there. Eh, at least she didn't have to run. Na'fiel was never a good runner on land, but she could swim faster than many could run.

"Thanks for the lift, by the way," she said to Arkus, lying limply on his shoulder. Definately not the most comfortable spot that she could've chosen. Oohhh...what she wouldn't give for a LAKE right about now...

"Hey." The minotaur grunted to her remark about the ride. "I'm doin' the best I can." He snorted, following the group. As to her thank you, he chuckled. "Heh, don't mention it. We're a team. Nobody's gonna be left behind." He said.

"Not even the elf, though part of me'd like to see it." He mumbled. "That's between you and me, got it, Na'fiel?" He chuckled, continuing his pace without her response.

Honestly, he didn't care if the elf knew that he didn't like him. He didn't like elves in general. And honestly, he didn't really like the Drow, either. But he could identify well with the mermaid; she was a fighter like himself, and did not hide behind engine or blade, barrel or bow. A true fighter, she was, just like himself.

That was a warrior's life, a warrior's honor, and a warrior's pride. Fighting your enemy with your bare hands and coming out on top... That was what being a fighter was all about...

Franz looked up as the water continued to soak him and everything around. Those strips of paper were safe on his desk though. He walked toward the desk and then...the fire alarms went out. The police outside were calling their men back and ready to take this building. Franz knocked the cover away and then babck toward the window. Those 'heros' would be here soon...it would be best to honor their coming...

Na'fiel chuckled softly. She shared similar feelings for the elf, mostly because he couldn't fight. Then again, he was quite useful as a scout. Out of the group, the minotaur seemed the most like herself, a street warrior. Well, she relied on him for mobility at this point, so...

As the sprinklers turned off, Na'fiel had mixed feelings. On one hand, it would be nice to be able to walk again, while a part of her missed the water. Now, all she needed was a towel to dry off. A part of her was already changing back. Her gills were disappearing and some of her scales were as well, though her two tails still stayed the same. She needed a towel or something to dry off. She had tried doing it with a blow dryer once, but it dried out her scales. Not fun...

"Ugh, let's go! I need to dry off and change back," she said to Arkus. Then again, she also needed shoes...but it wasn't a big problem, so long as she didn't have to go outside. That might be quite a painful experience. First things first, though; she needed legs!

Chuckling lightly at the two, she suddenly turned on Kort, slipping her sword in it's sheath and taking her dagger out. Before he could blink, the drow had sliced off his t-shirt and was now wringing it out as tightly as she could, getting every drop of water out before handing it to Na'Fiel, and sliding the dagger to it's place by her hip.

"I hope that helps a bit." Zaniah said with a mischevious giggle as she looked back at the elf to see his reaction. Taking up her sword once more the drow ran her fingers through her short hair, and instead of slicking back, it stuck up in places like spikes. Shan'naal's glow throbbed with a soft light, mirroring it's owner's amusement.

They had to get moving quickly.
