Warming himself didn't work and neither did trying to get used to it. But giving up wasn't an option either. Karu searched his mind for an answer. Repecting an element. The only other thing he respected was his uncle, all the things that he had done for him. He began thinking abput all the things water could do.

Zakuro sneezed and her vapor kitten shattered. She sniffled and rubbed her nose. She was cold and uncomfortable, but she didn't seem to be suffering nearly as much as Karu. She took off her long black coat and drapped it around his shoulders. Then she sat back down again. The thought crossed her mind that she could get him in trouble for covering him somewhat, but if the moment came she would just explain that it was her fault. It should be easy to believe since that always seemed to be the case. "Cold is good for the blood." She said softly. It was something her brother always told her when she would complain about the temperature of the water when they trained. "It keeps you alert because the extreemity of the temperature kicks starts your survival instincts. It readies itself for fight or flight. That's why a splash of cold water wakes you up in the morning." She was just quoting from books now. "Though too much cold can make the body shut down. A way to counteract this is to keep yourself busy. The best way to do that is through speach. You can also guage the severity of the situation by the inflections of your voice and the sharpness of your pronunciation." Her lips were growing numb so she readjusted her headprotector to cover her mouth a bit more.

Karu rubbed his shpoulders a bit with the coat then dropped it to the ground, he didn't want either of them to get in trouble. "Thanks." He managed to say after prying his lips apart. They had frozen to each other. Karu went back to his thoughts... water, water was able to pass freely as a solid, liquid, or gas. Now, there's an achievement. Also he nor anything else on the planet could survive without it. It also made up the majority of his body. A thought struck him. "That's it!" He blurted out loud. Then he began to try to focus his chakra on the water within his own body. Maybe he had to use that.

Star smiled as she saw the first cave of the Mizu dojo. "I might not be able to practice my illusions or kaze here as much, but water has always been a plus in my book." She said cheerfully.
She glanced behind her before she stepped on the land for the dojo. "Maybe I can be followed here, but... this place looks more to my advantage." She mummured, her ears hearing the waterfall running somewhere deep within the dojo.
Star walked in and stood for a moment to marvel at the cave's instructure. "Nice." She said, and then walked a bit deeper inside.

-=Neko was lying on the couch when Star walked in. He opened his eyes and peeked over at her when he heard her walk in. He sat up with a yawn and a stretch, sratching his back a little before straightening his headband=-
Hi...Can I help you?
-=It seemed that the more anyone in the training room focused their chakra, the colder it became, like the ice was reacting to it. The temperature dropped another five degrees, and the two students still had thirty minutes left until they could leave. Frostbite would normally start to set in on their extremeties by now, causing a sharp pain in their fingers, toes, nose, and ears=-

Okay, cross began to thinkas the temperature thought, maybe I just shouldn't use my chakra at all. Ma this was annoying, and now his body was starting to feel like it was being stabbed with needles. He stopped meditating and tapped his scalp trying to think. What the heck was he supposed to do!?

Zakuro blew into her hands and used them to warm her feet. There were only a few things you could do to prevent frostbite, and she had a feeling she wasn't allowed to do many of them. In thirty more minutes either of them could easily loose an arm or a leg, and inside she was starting to panic. She reassured herself that the sensei wouldn't let them come to any serious harm, but her soul was screaming. She pressed her body against Karu's and picked up her coat. There was respect, but there was also stupidity. She wrapped the coat around him again. She dug into her pockets and pulled out and energy bar. It was hard and frozen, but it would work for now. She snapped it in half and handed one to Karu. "Eat this. Your metabolism will turn it into heat. We should stay hydrated too. Dehydration is a predisposing condition for frostbite and hypothermia. But it's too cold for any liquids." Her voice was as calm and cold as the room, which surprised her. If she hadn't been shaking from the cold she would have been shaking in fear. She needed to calm herself, so she did what she always did when she was nervous. She quoted her books. "At or below 15° C (59° F), blood vessels close to the skin start to narrow (constrict). This helps to preserve core body temperature. In extreme cold or when the body is exposed to cold for long periods, this protective strategy can reduce blood flow in some areas of the body to dangerously low levels. The combination of cold temperature and poor blood flow can cause tissue injury. Frostbite is most likely to happen in body parts farthest from the heart, and those with a lot of surface area exposed to cold. These areas include the toes, fingers, ears and nose. It is related, but not identical, to hypothermia. The early stages of frostbite are sometimes called frostnip." She blew into her hands again and rubbed her feet. "Generally, frostbite is accompanied with discoloration of the skin, along with burning and/or tingling sensations, partial or complete numbness, and possibly intense pain. If the nerves and blood vessels have been severely damaged, gangrene may follow, and amputation may eventually be required. If left untreated, frostbitten skin gradually darkens after a few hours. Skin destroyed by frostbite is completely black and looks loose and flayed, as if burnt."

Stupid or not Karu was still proud. He rubbed his shoulders again and let the coat drop. He tossed the energy bar into his mout and waited for it to thaw out. All that was left to do was think. But either due to lack of confidence or heat the only thought that came to mind was, "Wter is Deadly." Repeated over and over again.

Zakuro could hear the coat flip onto the ice. She sighed and grabbed it again, but this time she put it on. There couldn't have been much longer to go. Her breathing was already starting to grow quick and shallow. She wasn't sure if it was first signs of hypothermia or just nerves. Either way she couldn't take any chances. She handed her half of the bar to Karu. She couldn't eat now. If it was hypothermia eating could divert blood from the critical internal organs and may make the situation worse. She abruptly stopped talking too. The only sounds in the cavern now was the soft trickle of water in the distance and Zakuro's teeth chattering.

-=Neko swung open both of the heavy oaken doors, the gush of warmer air forcing it's way into the cavern as he stepped onto the ice, his feet not sliding once as the temperature rose=-
So, does anyone have a good idea of what this excercise was about yet? Or do I need to leave you in here for another hour?

She didn't have a ready answer for that, but the warm air certainly felt nice. She closed her eyes and soaked it in. She opened her mouth so that she could taste it, but words came out instead. "Water is a force to be feared, and while with fear comes respect, I don't think it was the sort of lesson we should be getting from this. Water has other sides that aren't a harsh extreemity like ice." Her eyes popped open with fear. Had she really just scolded her sensei? "I-" She stopped short, too afraid that if she let any more words escape she would only make matters worse.

Karu returned to his happy-go-lucky self. He crossed his hands behind his head and smiled. "I think exactly the same." He gave a small chuckle. He hadn't even realised either of them was scolding the sensei. He stood up to get his clothes and as he did the towel came with him. It had frozen to his boxers. "Nice." He joked as he pryed them from his shorts.

-=Neko chuckled and stepped onto the ice=-
Good, good...
-=He looked at Zakaru, grinning to himself as he held out a hand to help her up=-
It does have other sides, but to a Ninja, this is the most important. We will use water to injure, possibly kill, and you both needed to experience what kind of damage the raw element could do...Now we can start your real training
-=Neko looked between the two, yawning a little=-
Do either of you need medical attention?

Zakuro took his hand and blushed. Not because of the contact, she couldn't even feel him through her gloves, she was just embarrassed at her outburst. Her old sensei would have been more harsh with her and the scars still made her cringe. She knew that the dojo here would be different, but somehow she hadn't expected it to be. "I need some warm water to sit in." One would think having lived surounded by water she would be less prone to these things, but then she hadn't used any of her chakra during the test. In retrospect she could have easily protected herself, but even in her highly analitical mind, it never occured to her to try.

Kazu finished getting his clothes back on. "Nope, at least nothing yu can help with." He waked out of the room, glad this exercise was over. "What's next, sensei?"
