I'm still frozen as the deadly blade leaves my throat, though my muscles are still twitching from the urge to run. My heart is beating too hard, threatening to break my rib cage from fear.
I try to calm myself down from the near-death attempt. I decide I'll be better off in a different form...
My human and fox forms vanish. In their place stands a single wolf, pitch-black in color.
My fur stands on end, still agitated.
"H-hey," I say, my voice a low growl from my throat. "D-don't do that, you effing scared the crap out of me..."
I circle the pair of young ones. I start regaining my peace of mind, the inner turmoil calming. "So we won't have a couple, but we will have friendship, yes?"
