Firrah yawned, teeth gleaming in the early morning sunlight, then licked his lips and rubbed his hands across his eyes without even thinking about it. The bandages over his injured eye loosened slightly, and a few tiny drops of infection trickled out. As good a job as Casimirio had done with cleaning it the day before, the infection was obviously deeper than he had been able to reach, and his eye was swollen once more.
"Yeah," he murmured, not realizing what he had done and smiling sleepily up at Shemei. "I hear something running ... did I scare away animals?"

Shemei turned down to watch h im and was about to tell him to stop rubbing his eyes when he did. And she saw that he was still infected. She winced and knew she would have to get him back to Casimiro for more cleanings...maybe daily until it healed.
"Yes you scared them away. But don't worry dear....we should head back so you can get washed and cleaned."

Firrah blinked at Shemei, still not noticing his damaged eye.
"Was and clean?" he asked, a little more awake now. "Aren't they the same thing?"
He crawled out from under her, then rose to his feet and stretched, getting the kinks out of his muscles. He blinked again, trying to get rid of the cloudiness in his eye, but it didn't seem to want to go away.

Shemei sighed and looked at him. "Dear your eye is infected again...it needs to be cleaned out...don't worry it wont be as painful as it could be if we get you two Casimiro...we don't want you to loose sight in both eyes..." She watched him. "Come one lets go home..." She moved towards him slowly.

Firrah's eye grew wide in horror and he cowered down on the ground, hands over his head, and whimpered softly.
"I don't want to see him," he whispered, afraid now of how Shemei might react. He knew he should just go with her ... but ... as much as he feared not being able to see his dear friend again ... he feared Casimirio much, much more.
He crawled forward to her and looked up at her, already shaking with terror. "Do I have to see him? Can't ... can't we go somewhere else? Ask someone else to help me? Can't you do it?"

Shemei winced hatting to see the young male like this but she slowly shook her head even as he crawled to her and begged her. "No we can't Firrah...I don't know how to clean out infections...and if you want you wont have too see him...he will give me a drink that will knock you out so you can sleep threw it..." She said.
She knew wound cleaning as well are removing infection would be very painful so either way it would be allot of pain so Casimiro would knock him out either way most likely. But she knew he was going to ream her for taking him outside and letting him sleep in the dirt with an open wound.
She could never do right but the youngster. And she was starting to hate herself for it. But she would get him well and then try to find him some more friends. Some better ones for him to be with.

Firrah swallowed hard, but if Shemei said that there was no other way ... then he would take her word for it.
"Okay," he gave in in a very squeaky voice, moving against her as if he were trying to hide in her. "But you stay with me, okay? I ... I can be brave if you're with me ..."
But if she wasn't with him, he knew, he would flee in terror.

Shemei nods very thankful that he was not going to put up too much of a fight, "I did not leave you when he hurt you or fixed your wound the first time and I will not leave you for any other time." she said softly and lowered down next to him for him to get on her back.
"It will all be alright."

Firrah nodded and nuzzled her cheek before climbing up onto her back. He lay on his belly, his arms around her neck, legs dangling over her sides, his head between her shoulder blades.
"But maybe you don't have to go too fast," he murmured hopefully, "so that we don't have to see Casimirio right away ... maybe we can go a bit slow and wait a while?"
He was going to see the tall purple male, he had promised that he would ... but that didn't mean he wanted to rush to him.

Shemei didn't like it but she noded, "I will walk slow." she said and picked up the basket in her mouth and walked slowly. At least he was going to see Casimiro.
She was very proud of him.

Firrah sighed with relief and snuggled into Shemei's back. She always made him feel so special ... she always did as he asked ... he knew he didn't deserve it, that he didn't behave as well as he knew he ought to ... but it just made him want to please her all the more.
"Shemei?" he murmured when they had been walking for a while already. "Can I tell you a secret?"

Shemei had a hard time talking with the basket in her mouth but when she heard the soft voice of her young rider she nodded, "Und Ei 'ont 'ell e oul." She promised him and continued to walk as slow and un jarring as she could.

Shemei smiled and nods, "Your my best friend too." she said gently. She knew as long as she did not fall in love with Firrah there would be trouble. But she did not want to try to explain in. "Alright dear...we won't tell him...it will just be between us." She set the basket down to lick his hand then she picked up the basket and started to walk again.

Firrah smiled as Shemei licked his hand and hugged her again.
After another while, he found that he was drifting in and out of sleep, still tired from his night of interrupted sleep. He yawned and sat up on Shemei's back.
"Do you want me to carry the basket for you?" he asked her sleepily, rubbing his good eye in an attempt to make the cloudiness go away.
