Fiona Night I hate when people are so uptight about the movie. IT'S NOT AN OPERA! The singing in the movie isn't as good as the others, but I still love it. A lot of what they say is bad has mostly to do with their opinions. Oh yes, and and all of the above too. 3nodding . 1)The Phantom is not supposed to be hot! whee . Oh well. I didn't think he was until someone pointed it out. sweatdrop (someone online called me a lesbien for thinking he wasn't). 2) My friend spells it with a c. It's not the worst thing, but it does bother me. 3) I thought he sang well! It's an OPINION thing!4) How can anyone be repulsed by that? Sometimes it was pretty bad, but most of the time it looked like his head was in a microwave or something. On stage it's worse, but much less realistic looking, I think that's why they made it look like that in the movie(coud've made it WORSE though!) 5) I learned about the book as soon as I look up Phantom online, people who don't know about it probably aren't phans then. 6) You're not supposed to think Raoul is better! I don't HATE him, I definatley love the Phantom more. heart rofl Thats funny! I always thought it was sunburnish, but thats really funny.

What I hate most of all is people who nitpick too much about it. I mean, you're fine of course, but people who rant on and on that Christine is a whore for leavin Erik like that etcetra. And I don't find Raoul that bad. You gotta think, he loved Christine too, had she gone with the phantom, he'd be sad just like Erik was.

I think number one gets to me the most. I have seen the movie and read the book and I should be seeing the play this summer. Although I must say Gerard Butler did look very attractive in the movie that is NOT what the phantom is supposed to look like. He is supposed to be repulsive(except for his encanting voice), so I don't get why so many people after seeing the movie are like "OMGAWD the phantom is so hot why didnt she just stay with him." But that is just my opinion..I'll shut up now

Hoo boy, I forgot how harsh people in this guild could be (has not visited in a looong time and is a bad, bad phan). really, there's no crime in liking the movie! I promise (it is a shame that so many people see it and then ignore Leroux's novel, but alas...)! Yes, even with the third-degree sunburn Erik is a pretty boy. But we phans must chalk it up to another 60% or so adaptation and move on, hoping for that fabled perfect adaptation.
Anyway, I find it an impressive miracle that there are people here who like Raoul, and even stand up for him. HE IS NOT A BAD GUY! NOR IS HE A FOP! Honestly. So, if you could add that to the pet peeve list.
10 (I think?). People who bash Raoul not because they dislike his character, but because Christine chose him over Erik (Erik's a kind compassionate person, to be sure, but with the slight insanity and short fuse he's not 100% safe).
On a final note, I now feel stupid for not having seen PotP. Haven't found any place to rent it is my excuse. And I don't want to buy it unless I've seen it first and like it.

Not every phan is going to agree on the 2004 film much like now many Rentheads will not agree on the release of the movie. It's just all opinions. No use trying to convert someone's mind. I mean, Phan's diversity is what makes the discussions. And we all know Fuoko laid the fop thing to rest, hopefully.

Just so long as one is respectful about it (I try, really I do). But, no matter how many tumes the fop thing's laid to rest, there will always be the ranting Raoul bashers. *sigh*

All of the other annoying things you've ll mention is....well annoying. Some things that really bug me though is.... 1.) Watching the movie and people singing along with it. A movie is made for WATCHING. A CD is made for listening and SINGING ALONG WITH!
2.) Said guy friends think it would be cute to sing along with Christine while watching the movie and singing it horribly off key.
3.) My friend Ron wanting to be a Female Opera singer just because of Carlotta >.<
4.) People asking, "Who is Michael Crawford?"
5.) The 1980's POTO movie....grrrr, it makes Erik look so....I don't know, idiosyncratic! Espically at the end where she rips his face off and throws his Duan Juan Triumphant in a sewar.....I mean, wouldn't Erik have sercret backup files stashed somewhere?
6.) People not watching it because they don't want to watch some deformed crying self pitying himself and all the mo.... stare I just want Erik to punjab lasso them.

My friends and I sing along with the movie all time and were all off key and cant sing...but we know we cant and do it for the fun of it. The 1989 one was...ok, not the best but could have been much worse. And #6 is just stipid, watch the movie and you'll understand why hes crying!!!!

I am a true phan, not to be arrogent, but I don'tcare what form the Phantom is, I will always love all versions of poto and Erik! Yes I loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee Erik! 3nodding heart and raoul, ummmm.... he's ok, I just don't like him as much, esp. in Leroux's book, because he's sooo whiny. I'm trying to see the play, the only version I haven't seen.
