Mattias stared open-eyed at her, his mouth slightly agape before he shook his head and regained his composure. Kill me? he gulped and then strained to speak, "A job? Well on a ship with only resources contained on it, there's really only a couple things you can do...although, I would suggest something, Miss. Whatever you do, if it's after dark, be very careful. The city's employed a new watch at night...and they're not like your ordinary guards. But if I told you anymore," he grinned mischieviously, "then it wouldn't be as much fun."
Markus was stirring in his bed again, he smelled the sweet fragrance that came with the rain. His eyes refused to open, because he knew what was already coming. A storm was approaching, maybe he wouldn't be committed to his watch tonight and he could sleep some more. He wrinkled his nose, a hint of a nightmare he had been having before grunting and then falling back asleep, waiting patiently for nightfall.

(Bleh, writer's block : P )
The day had been well-spent so far. At the crack of dawn, Sellenas had woken up, gone to the nearest bar, and gotten herself completely wasted. The actual memory of the morning was hazy, but she recalled how empty the bar had been and how enthusiastic the bar tender was, since it took nearly twice the amount of alcohol to intoxicate an elf. He was almost more of a thief than her.
Around noon, after finding herself inexplicably belly-up in a small, muddy paddock, with a bony horse and two fat dairy cows for company, she moved onto the next activity of the day: pick-pocketing. Not her greatest source of income, but there were days when she just didn't feel like being challenged. Today had been one of those days. She played the part of temptress to a local trader, and after getting his eyes right where she wanted them--that is, below the neck and above the stomach--she had merely started taking his wares from his booth, right under his own nose.
Afternoon rolled around and Sellenas found herself drawn again to a bar, a chronic condition that humans dubbed 'alcoholism'. To her kind, it was known as merriment (since elves never seemed to get hang overs), however the merriment was lost amongst men. The whole lot of 'em looked drab, gray, and worn down. The energy in the tavern was enough to repel her--for once.
Walking aimlessly through the town, her ears safely hidden under her hunter cloak, Sellenas soon came to the docks. The mass of water was a scary thing for a creature so purely bred inland. She could appreciate its beauty from a safe hundred yards away, but each time a weak swell rolled in, she could just picture the dock workers tumbling in. And not resurfacing. Leaning against a particularly squat maple tree, Sellenas gazed out over the water, a coy smile on her face.
She hadn't had proper schooling in magic, but there were a few things that came natural to most wood elves. First, the ability to move absolutely silently. Second, the ability to coax just about any animal into submission. And third, the reason why she was smirking, the ability to manipulate trees, flowers, plants, and wood. The docks were made of wood. A simple flick of her wrist and KerSploosh! instant entertainment. The dock workers carried on with their lifting, unaware of the insincere murderous intent just yonder hill.

(posting before I leave for a week-long much needed vacation)
Ashe smiled at the boys warning. "Yeah, I've heard about that. Seems fun." She scratched her head and looked back at the sky. "But if the rain comes before night falls, I don't have to worry about them." Just then a large flash of lighting danced across the clouds. "Of course, that will make the job more difficult...O well." She got up from the crate and walked to the stairs to the first floor. Reaching the doors to the warehouse she looked out and saw that no one was around. She whistled and the three dogs that followed her this morning, plus two of the strays that live in the area came up to her. She petted each and gave them a strip of jerky that she kept in one of her pockets. She closed the door behind them and walked back up to the second floor and to the window. Sitting back down she looked at the boy. "I suggest you leave now if you have somewhere you need to be. Or get comfortable, it'll be a long wait." She pulled out a book and started to read.

Mattias was struggling with the butterflies in his stomach. He was glad for something exciting, but he had no clue what he was truly suppose to do. "Well if you won't tell me what you're doing maybe you can tell me about yourself. Who are you? What's your name, where are you from...and why do you smell like meat?" Matthew was usually very sly and persuasive, however at times of stress he became undeniably blunt and obvious. He couldn't help wondering who this girl was, and couldn't get his mind of the smell he had whiffed when she had gone to the door. Although he had plenty of money, he had not eaten yet today...and his stomach growled obnoxiously. He coughed in an effort to hide this noise.

Turning to Ezekiel, Delaney couldn't help but to feel pity. His clothes were rather torn -- even her own weren't so bad. Sighing, she pulled a coin out of a shallow pocket and placed it, loudly, down on the bar. Why am I so nice? she thought to herself. She was a person to always look out for others before herself.
Standing abruptly, she nodded to the tattered-clothed man and put her hands on and hips. "Well, looking like that isn't even fashionable in this part of town," she said with a quick nod and a matter-of-fact tone. Motioning for him to follow, she bounced out of the small establishment into the street.
Well, almost to the street. She stopped before bounding down the stairs, just outside the door. A cold blast of wind shocked her senses, a drastic change from the hot sunny weather at noon. She wasn't wearing the right clothes for rain or colder weather. A shiver ran through her body, causing her to chatter her teeth. Rubbing her arms briskly, she walked down the stairs to the street quickly before calling back to her new companion, "Might want to hurry, before the rain starts."

Ashe looked up from the book and cocked an eyebrow. "Fine," she sighed and closed the book. "The name's Ashe, been on the streets for as long as I can remember. The meat is for the dogs downstairs. I didn't want them to get wet." She pulled out another strip and handed it to the boy. "I've got more so don't worry." She studied the boy and asked, "What about you?"

Ezekiel bowed to the bartender respectfully as thanks for his hospitality as he followed his bouncy and rather fetching companion out of the establishment. As he stepped out to the front steps the wind blue the cold funneling through the many holes in his jacket sending as slight chill down his spine. His muscles clenched and his teeth had the urge to chatter but he took a short deep breath and managed to shake off the chill. He shook his head and turned to the woman who was at the time rubbing her arms in what he thought of as an effort to stay warm. Feeling a bit of pity he trotted down after her taking off the jacket offering it to her. "Rain, I don't mind it's the wind that I have a problem with. Shall we?" he said pointing in the direction the bartender had suggested.

((If I get going, I can do a pretty solid block of words. Right now... not so much ;D Besides, it was an opening post. It had to have some sort of content. This should be OOC thread, though :/ ...))
The fine hairs running down Sellenas's neck stood on end as a brisk gust of wind brushed past her. She looked up from the dock workers and towards the horizon, grimacing at the promise of rain. Murky gray clouds were blowing in quickly, heavy and thick. Below them was the sea, which had morphed from a calm royal blue to a churning navy. The dock workers had hastened to complete the task. Although the boats were all in a safe harbor, there was no guarantee that there wouldn't be a freak wave. Besides, they probably hated rain as much as Sellenas.
No, that would actually be pretty damn near impossible. She hated water in general, especially the sea. Rain was like the gods' way of picking up the ocean and dumping it on her, giving her no say in the matter. She shoved off the tree, hugging her waist and hunching her shoulders as the first tiid drops fell fat and clumsy upon the tip of her nose.
Tonight's heist would be complicated. Rain always did that. Because, as any experienced thief knew, rain made mud. Mud got on boots. Boots walked on floors. Mud was left on floors in the shape of boots. Boots were traced. Dumb thieves got caught. She had learned the easy way, by watching someone else make the mistake. Now, whenever it rained, she would always complete her outings barefoot. That, or cancel it altogether and hide in her hotel room under the covers, sleeping the disgusting weather away.
Cancellation was impossible. Not tonight, anyways. She had been observing her target for a month now, learning his habits. He had been a tough nut to crack, since his schedule seemed to have no regularity. Sellenas had been forced to shadow him to get solid information, and tonight was the only night that him, his wife, and his seven daughters would all be out of the house for the next three months. Proper family, they were, that believed there should always be a welcoming and gracious hostess at home. Apparently, one of their relatives had died and tnoight was the funeral, rain or shine.
The beauty of this family was the fact that they kept all their windows unlocked. They probably figured that since they weren't at ground level, they'd be safe enough. But Sellenas had purchased a useful invention called 'the Ladder' that allowed her access heights never reached before. The property was isolated, only the front of the house plainly visible from the outskirts of town. The back was hidden by a vast lake and draping willow branches. Security included the four family dogs, the grounds crew, the maids, and the butlers. The dogs were small, but yappy. They were her biggest concern. The grounds crew holed up in their shack during the night time, and weren't apt to come out unless provoked. The maids and butlers were constantly circulating the halls, but they could be easily avoided. Her sensitive ears could pick up on their clumsy footfalls well ahead of time.
The prize was an oil painting, Garrison's War, depicting a great man (General Garrison, undoubtedly) upon a valiant white steed. The horse had a spear through its shoulder and was in the process of toppling away from the attacker, a barbaric looking man with wild eyes who was pinned on the ground in front of the horse. From what she had gathered, the painting was other three hundred years old. Her fence had guaranteed her enough money to be comfortable for the next couple months.
Bee-lining for the cruddy place she was staying at, Sellenas gazed upwards at the cloud. They'd grown considerablly darker. Several dropps nailed her in the eye and cheeks and she quickly cast her gaze ground-wards. "I hate getting wet," she muttered to herself.

((No, not dead yet, I'm just retarded and completely missed Shallow's post for me to reply to. More than once. *face palm*))
Shaking her head to decline the offer of the jacket, Delaney smiled thankfully at Ezekiel. "I'm fine," she affirmed quietly. "Just the sudden change of weather. Unnatural." Looking up at the sky, she could see the clouds rolling overhead. The once hot summer blue sky now dissipated into a cool gray omen. Thinking back earlier in the day caused her to shiver again, so she wrapped her arms tightly around her.
"So," she started as they walked down the street together. "Where're you from?" After she said it, she realized it might have been a little too intrusive, and blushed slightly.
