I got through it with my Sega Genesis Collection on PS2. Which is the only way I can imagine anyone doing it from now on. Because it allows save states (three of them, but still). Because the game wants you to start over from the very beginning to get all four endings (which I got). The damage you do is random. The order of attacks is random. The music is crap. Hell, it's barely canonical to the rest of the series! So not only is it horrible, it's pointless!
Also I got Soulcalibur IV and Virtua Fighter 5. Both amazing fighting games. As much as I love Soulcalibur, I may have to give the edge to VF5. I even got all the achievements in both.

I'm wondering, how do you compare SCIV to III? I thought they lost a lot going to IV, III had so much more to do. Plus the customization seems more limited, since how strong they is now dependent on what equips you put on them, even though you have more options, heck, all the faces and voices are just ripped from the main characters.

SCIV to III...hmmm. I must say, first and foremost, that even though I love Star Wars. These are THE WORST exclusive characters EVER. Yoda, Vader, and The Mexican looking Apprentice play like crap.
I agree with the customization, for thing one system they added. They removed so much good stuff. In the end it made it seem like that, the main characters are now obsolete. Like Kilik and the rest are now just generic.

Amy and Hilde. One that some fans would argue is not necessary, and one that some fans just don't like PERIOD
Don't get me wrong, I love this game. Smooth graphics, gameplay, nice responsive controls. It just seems like its Soul Calibur 3.5, you know?
Also online mode...ugggggggh MAN! Even on the best connection possible, SCIV will still play like s**t online. So many moves that you would like to do but it doesn't pick it up sometimes and you just do a vertical strike...

God, Amy was a stupid addition. Would have rather had Li Long, or any of the non-campaign extra characters, Greed, Miser, the shop keeprs? Hilde however was at least original, she's good, not really stand out, but good. The only serious looking female in the game aside from Sophitia. You had so much more to work for in 3, art, videos, unlocking so much, all the weapons! Now to use a weapon, you have to make a character that uses that one weapon! Not that you want to use it, because you have to save up forever, realize to make anything resembling a good fighter, just use the ultimate weapon. And all the traits you got from weapons to make them unique, you now have to equip only certain things to build up the stat, I wish they could have had some stat adjuster or something, just roll for stats for each character. And one thing that really upsets me, they give us those stupid extra characters, fine, but then they cut them and give you a ******** new character for the portable version? An original one, with their own style? We have to unlock what, five characters we'll never use because they are just copies of characters and then save you time and cut them out completely and give you a new character for the psp? Come on, he looks like a character I'd play, but now I can't because I'll never own a psp so I have to wait and see if he'll make it to Soul Calibur V?

Hilde is original I'll give you that. At least namco still has a few new ideas for characters. I'm not sure if the one original character is enough to warrant purchasing it. Even if Kratos is the exclusive character. I would suggest waiting til its cheap(God that PSP Go seems so DUMB, especially since there was a UMD attachment announced for it by a third party company). I don't know about you, but most of those attributes and skills you add to the fighter don't seem to do JACK! I do wonder, beyond the single player Tower and s**t, what did this serve to add those skills anyways? NOBODY plays Special VS. online, I mean nobody. Like everyone knew that junk was ridiculous. I also like that most other unlockables (art and such) can all be got by like playing throughout the game twice. I know Namco said they would end it after IV...BUT they said that about Tekken 5 too. Namco isn't stupid, they know good properties when they got them. So they still keep churning Tekken and SC and tales games as long as we buy them.

I agree, a series like that could still be a cash cow. I hope that sony didn't make that stupid decision to sell only PSP Go. Like that dumb decision to sell only Slim PS3s.

Yes they are now only selling the slimmer PS3. Which is not all that slim. There's only one kind. And its cheaper. Don 't want it though. Not big hard drive and not PS2 compatible.

Well they are kinda doing the same thing that they did to the PS2. They just kinda decided that backwards compatibility wasn't important enough anymore.
remember when they were saying that the PS2 could play DVDs? Well now its they say Blu-Ray. No need to buy a new Blu-Ray player since the PS3 is actually cheaper and can play games too.
Still bullshit. Cause the other thing was that the PS2 could play PS1 games.....
